The three remaining lizards all turned thier heads at the demise of thier kin at Caleb's hands. One lunges for Caleb, its' mouth snapping at Caleb's left ankle. The teeth pierce his flesh like razors, but he is easily kicked off. One of the lizards lunges to one of the defenders in front of the table. Diedre shrieks in surprise as the lizard lunges in close and closes its' mouth on her right leg. She viciously kicks it off, wheeziing some from fear and surprise. While Diedre was bring attacked, one of the lizards pads past her and leers around the edge of the table. It surveys Dupioni, Riven, Olivia and Theodore for a fraction of a second before its short legs propel its low body forward, its mouth snapping at Riven. It misses her. The lizard continues to snap at her, forcing Riven to jerk her arms away from its darting head. 2013-09-19 23:42:51 Lizard 4 rolled 6 dice to "Biting Diedre [9 - 3]" 3,10,10,5,3,10,1,1,9 (4 successes) Link 2013-09-19 23:41:58 Lizard 2 rolled 4 dice to "Biting Caleb [9-5] " 8,2,10,6,4 (2 successes) Link Lizard 1 rolled 5 dice to "Biting Riven [9 - 2 - 2]" 2,5,1,3,7 (0 successes)

Olivia didn't really know what was going on. Caleb was bit. And there was a lizard after Riven and herself.
“Riven!” Olivia shouted as she grabbed Riven and pulled her away.
[[Olivia is still dodging. Def is 8.]]

"Ah, one lizard down. Spectacular, Caleb. Yet I think we've measured your mettle with these lizards enough for one day." The sky speaks. The tributes realize this is not the same Game Maker - it is not Mathias.
The ground in the middle of the room begins to move. Stone slabs begin to jut out of the ground, rising towards the ceiling. A staircase towards the door is visible after a moment.
"Step over the stone slabs if you are done with the lizards. They can climb rocks and trees with ease, but these man - made smooth stairs will pose a problem for them. Don't forget to get any weapons that you wish.
Now this next room will be a treat. You will find various gear and supplies for the picking; medical supplies right by the door, limited amounts of food and water and some gear to help you navigate the terrain of the arena. The arena has changed since you entered the cavern. The earthquake has split the Cornucopia field. A tidal wave has reclaimed the Tidal Peninsula for the ocean. Survey the map for where you wish to go. Beyond the fourth room there are two exits.
Climb the ladder to go above to the Cliffs. Follow the tunnel to go to the beach where you can cross the ocean for Islands 1 or 2."
The door to the fourth room opens. Seven neat little piles are arranged - the one directly in front of the door holds medical supplies. To the right of that is a table with food and water items. The far left holds supplies. The next row holds a pile of water gear. The two circular areas to the right of the water gear are interesting - an open pit that yawns above a turbulent ocean and a gilded metal cage three feet tall with posed metal spikes surrounded a glittering purple injection syringe.
The three tables in the final row contain clothing, a 3 - D map and a open tunnel to above. Looking up at it, you see open sky. The words 'mentor chute' have been engraved upon it.
Broadcast to all of Panem [for the mentors] "Help yourselves to the gear. You may notice there is only enough to truly outfit four - we had expected such a marvelous alliance.
For those who are envenomed, we have two antidotes in this room. If you truly desire it, you can partake of two challenges: The first: In pit is a rope descending over the bowels of the ocean. Some ways down is an antidote waiting in a notch in the wall. There most certainly are oceanic predators in that water; but they can not harm you as long as you keep hold of that rope and out of the water.
The second is the metal cage constructed of spikes. One quick of wit and sly of hand can remove the spikes one by one to unlock an opening to reach the antidote. One wrong move and the spikes posed atop of the cage come down, adding more barriers between you and the antidote.
Those are the means to gain two antidotes for the venom. If you are especially skilled in the challenges, we will deliver one more antidote per challenge. If you fail at a challenge, you can not try again. Another tribute may. If you gain the two antidotes but without enough flair to be rewarded an extra antidote, you can not re - attempt the challenge to gain another antidote. The venom will begin to incapacitate those affected in the next twenty minutes or so. They may feel well enough to attempt a challenge themselves between now and then.
For spectacular showmanship and skill, there has been a rule change. There may be two victors of the Twenty - Seventh Hunger games IF the two originate from different alliances that were formed at the Blood Bath. If all members of one alliance are slain or if one of the tributes who chose not to participate in an alliance - district ten - are all that remain; the Games will continue to one victor. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Caleb already had an arrow out as the Lizard lunged in and bit him. He winced, kicked with his free foot, then danced away a few steps as the stairs descended. His wound bled, but not terribly bad as he hopped the table, took Liv's hand and rushed up the stairs. "Come on! If we needn't fight them, there's no reason to put ourselves in further danger doing so!" he shouted to the others as he ascended. He stopped in awe of the next room for a moment, held his breath, and turned to Liv as the announcement spoke over them. He pulled her tightly to him, hands sliding over her cheeks as he held her head and kissed her deeply, passionately. As the rule announcement sounded, he knew he wasn't going home. He spoke softly, just for her ears: "You get Zale aside and tell him I need to speak to him privately. I'm going to go get that antidote for you. Don't argue with me. Ain't nothin' to argue 'bout."He turned away and shed his cumbersome gear before sprinting, ignoring the sharp pains of pain from his wounded leg, and jumping to the first challenge's rope. He ascended as though that were what he was born to do, hands pulling him smoothly up the rope and to the peak of the first challenge. He must have impressed someone, as when he slipped his hand out to obtain his prize of the antivenom, he found two vials instead of the one. He slipped them into his pocket and descended with just as much ease as his ascension. The danger was over. People were hurt, some poisoned. Olivia among them. But Caleb's injury could be cured with her help. Hers... she'd need a miracle. She helped Riven, Dupioni, and Ashlynn first over the stone slabs before she looked around for Caleb.
And suddenly she was face to face with him and he was pulling her up the steps as fast as she would go. Which wasn't as fast as him. Underground like they were now, Olivia was as surefooted as ever but she was getting weaker and weaker by the minute. She could almost feel her blood getting thicker.
Olivia eyed the medical supplies, making lists in her head of who she needed to heal and how. Several were hurt and she'd heal them all. Every single one of them. Why? Because she was a healer.
The announcement filled the cavern and Liv hand convulsed around Caleb's. Tears welled in her eyes. Two victors. But it wouldn't be either of them. Not both. One or none. But not both.
She was about to turn to Caleb and swear that she'd see him home but her words were stolen when he kissed her. She melted into him, cling to him. She didn't want to let go. Because when she did it was back to a reality where that kiss would be one of their last.
Despite being told not to argue, Olivia wanted to do just that. She wanted to kick and scream, fight Caleb tooth and nail because she knew what he was telling her. She could read between the lines. He was telling her that from their fates were decided. And she didn't have a say so in the matter.
“Okay...” was what she said to his face, but there was a defiant glint in her eyes. This wouldn't be the end of it.
Olivia watched Caleb climb down and she limped toward the table going to the medical supplies, going over to Zale and Riva.
“Are either one of you hurt?” she asked.

Zale had climbed the stairs, taking one end of the cooler that the District Twelve Tributes had been carrying so that Ashyln didn't have to burden herself with it. He was weighed down, which was reason for him to take longer to get up the incline, but at least they were making it and away from those lizards.
The cooler is put down so that he can check on Riva, which was when Olivia made her way to the two of them. Zale looked Riva over carefully, his own skilled eye taking in that she seemed relatively well before he nodded.
"We are both unharmed, Olivia, but we thank you for your consideration. This one knows a touch of the healing arts, if you would wish my help with the others." It seemed to him that Caleb was already on his way up the rope in order to acquire the needed medicine for Olivia and possibly someone else.

Timour assisted Zale with the other end of the cooler; pausing in awe of the spread of gear before them. Titan and Brad stepped up beside Olivia, helping Ashlyn to sit on the floor. The girl glances around the room warily, but Brad supplied.
"There's no mutts. Relax" "Get me one of those." Titan requested, waving at the medicine table. "Ashlyn's still bleeding..."
"Riven." Ashlyn struggled to stand. "There was a lizard by Riven, I heard Olivia-" "They got her." Brad assured. He points out Riven and Ashlyn relaxes, sagging down onto the floor.
"Riven was hit by the lizard's tail." Diedre checked her, finding a red gash on Riven's right shoulder. "As was Dupioni." Theodore reported, seeing blood spilling on Dupioni's right sleeve.
"Don't forget yourself." Pan said to Olivia, checking a tear in Olivia's sleeve. "It got you as well."
Willow brought the Doctor's Bag to Olivia, offering it to her leader. Star had taken Medicine Kit #1 and offered it to Titan. She'd also slipped the 32 ounce bottle of water onto her belt. Diedre grabbed the last Medicine Kit and brought it to Zale and Riva.
"Hm." Sam noted. "New celox bandages. Put one in the chest, Timour."

“Yes, thank you Zale,” Olivia said. She'd never cease to be surprise by the tributes from District Four. Despite being on different alliances, there was a respect there. In a another life, they could have been friends.
Riven, Zale, or Riva. If any of those three won with Caleb, Olivia would be at peace.
“Thank you, Willow,” Olivia said with a forced but sincere smile. She put her hand on the girl's shoulder. “Eat and rest with Pan and the others. We'll get moving as soon as everyone is able to move.”
She nodded to Titan. “Stop the bleeding and I'll do the rest... I first need to heal those who were bitten by the snakes... Don't worry, Ashlynn, everyone got to safety.”
Liv glanced at Zale and leaned over to him, whispering. “Caleb would like to speak with you privately... I am afraid, Zale...” She eased away and in her normal volume she added. “Thank you again Zale. The One has blessed you with many gifts.”

Everything was happening so quickly and Riven was still reeling from the fact that she had been poisoned. It was not something she was particularly accustomed too, and it also wasn’t something that she had to be overly careful of back in her home District. Being poisoned felt like a much worse fate than having a limb cut off by a sword, or something of the sort. Riven didn’t know how to react to this, and she didn’t want to die from a snake bite.
A snake bite.
Everybody in the District would be mocking her. She made her way up the stone slabs with Olivia’s assistance and then slumped to the ground not too far away from Ashlyn before she pulled her water skin from her belt and drank deeply from it. Her eyes moved around, focusing on Olivia who seemed to be in charge of helping the injured.
“Please,” Riven said to the girl, “Tend to Ashlyn before me. Her wounds are far worse than my own.” She said, swallowing hard and looking down at the swollen bite on her leg. Her eyes closed and Riven ran a hand across her sweating forehead.
She needed to get a couple of those antidotes.

"Well done, Caleb." Dupioni cheered, smiling over at the boy from district six. "Must have been love lending him strength." Theo said quietly, impressed. "Yes!" Isaac pumped a fist into the air. "Riven, I'm going to get you an antidote." Diedre promised, striding towards the cage containing the glistening purple syringe. The girl immediately started plucking aside the wire spikes. She moved two aside, yet found her hand trapped within the cage. She gripped one small spike and wrenched it out with great effort. Diedre took the spike next to it and tried to do the same, but she touched a delicate spike beside it. The spikes balanced atop of the cage shifted and a spike descended, blocking the opening that Diedre had made. "I'm sorry, Riven. I tried." Diedre sat beside Riven, spent. Depression was stark on her face; a look of hopelessness. Timour placed a hand on his partner's back, rubbing her gently. "You tried." Timour assured her. He looked to Riven. "I am sure sponsors are lining up to give you an antidote." "Caleb, you have two of the antidotes?" The fifteen year old girl glanced over to Theodore and Dupioni, biting her lip. Caleb would have an impossible choice of saving Dupioni OR Theodore- assuming he chose district eight and not the 'new' alliance who needed an antidote for Riven. Psyche looked over towards Riven with a frown. The alliance had been honorable; and the little girl couldn't find fault in Riven's conduct. "I can give it a try." Psyche decided. Isaac bit his lip; but did not protest his young mate's decision. "Be careful." Theo cautioned. "Those look sharp."Psyche had a rougher start than Diedre, only moving one spike in twice the time. Yet she picked up momentum and her hands started dancing along the spikes, carefully testing which were attached to the spikes above. She plucked out three spikes, bending them above the cage. The antidote was now blocked by three spikes, evenly spaced an inch apart. Psyche looked over to Dupioni and Theo. Dupioni smiled sadly, seeming resigned to fate. "Go on." Theo encouraged her. He shook his hands in the air, cheering. Psyche reached for the spikes, exhaling with a deep breath. Her young face was drawn and her brow knit together in concentration. She poured everything into this challenge, every hope and every nerve! Her hands flew and a 'ting' sounded several times as three spikes flew back, striking the top of the cage with force. Psyche reached in and plucked out the antidote. She set it on the floor and was about to turn away when something caught her eye. The little girl's small hand reached back into the cage, under the platform where the antidote had been sitting. She wiggled her hand and scrunched up her face when she hit resistance. With an effort that shook her petite body, she ripped her fist free of the cage. She opened her palm to reveal a second antidote. With all of the excitement, solemn Titan was quietly working on Ashlyn's knee. He had removed the make shift bandage and now took time to sanitize his hands with alcohol, cleansing Ashlyn's knee as well. "Balls." Ashlyn gritted through clenched teeth. "You're trying to kill me, aren't you." She mused, half serious. "No, little firecracker. I would not kill someone I am trying to help." Titan replied, carefully plucking out debris from the wound with forceps. He held out a long, curved lizard tooth up to the light. "That would have been bad." Ashlyn allowed. Titan set the tooth aside and pressed sterile gauze to the wound, binding it well. "..Thank you, Titan.""You are welcome, Ashlyn." Caleb returned himself to the floor, smiled once at Dupioni as he crossed the way to Liv. He crouched down beside her, pressed a syringe into her hand. "Can't let you go, my love."
He gave her a soft peck to her cheek before standing straight again. He glanced over his shoulder as Psyche obtained another pair of vials. He with that sight, he moved the couple of steps needed to be closer to Riven before holding out the second vial. He didn't owe her anything, to be certain, but his half of the alliance had enough antivenom to cover their injured. He waited long enough for the District One girl to take the vial before looking to Zale.
"May I have a word?" he asked, moving away from the tributes as they patched themselves up. He was about to ask the hardest, well --second hardest thing-- he could of the District Four tribute and he wanted to do so in quiet confidence. He stopped where he would be fairly certain he'd not be easily overheard.

"The One gifts us all with various talents. Some of us merely find them earlier than others." For maybe the first time, he felt a little...embarrassed. He seemed to be very good at a lot of things others weren't, but he could only truly attribute all of his skills to the loving and guiding hands of his parents. Especially when he'd shown them his fate in the cards, and his father had tapped The Star. His Card. "The Guiding Star". "If this is to be Your Calling, we will make you into a Warrior such as our people have never seen before." The announcement concerned him somewhat, and he looked to Riven and nodded. He and Riva would drop their weapons and refuse to fight each other if it came right down to it, but with Riven? With Riven, he knew he would have a battle worth having if it came down to the two of them. He only hoped that was the case. Caleb stepping up to the them and asking for privacy is met with a nod. "Of course. As I said: If it is in my power, consider it done. You and your 'Other Half' have no need to fear me."He would keep his word to the end, if and when it came right down to it.

Willow and Pan walked among the gear, talking quietly among themselves.
"Not a Feast lay out." Willow could be heard saying. "Not much water." Willow picked up the gallon of water and secured it in her pack.
Brad surveyed the food table with Willow and Pan. He selected a full 32 ounce water bottle and the pot of lamb stew. He returned to where Ashlyn and Titan were sitting.
"Drink." Brad suggested, handing Ashlyn the 32 ounce water bottle. "Thank you for helping Ashlyn." Brad said to Titan. "This is yours." Brad handed Titan the pot of food. "Thank you."
Brad moved over to Riven, Caleb and Zale, speaking quietly. "Should we share a meal together?" The boy asked quietly.
"We have enough water for one more day." Diedre replied to Brad's suggestion, speaking very quietly to Brad, Riven, Zale and Caleb. "We have two gallons of milk and some food."

Olivia slid off her jacket, exposing her bare shoulder, and stabbed herself with syringe. She pushed the plunger down, dosing herself with the anti-vemon. She sighed as she pulled it out. She knew that once the medicine started to work her appetite would come back with a vengeance. But for now she didn't feel like eating. Not when there were people to heal. She nodded at Riven with a smile. Stubborn Riven from District One. Stubborn, honorable Riven. “You are a testament to your district's honor, Riven.”No matter what happens at the end of this, at least they couldn't take that away from her. Olivia healed Ashlynn first. “There you go, Ash. Rest awhile and then see if you can walk without putting too much pressure on your knee.”She moved to Riven and grinned. “Ash is healed so no more excuses.”She worked on Riven, then Theodore and Dupioni before going back to where Caleb was. Olivia looked up at Caleb and hugged him, taking a moment just to enjoy his embrace. She'd miss this; more than she had words for. She'd miss him. “Now you...” Olivia said, healing him. Truth be told, Riven was extremely surprised by Caleb’s offering of an antivenom. And she almost turned it down, feeling that she didn’t deserve his kindness. But he looked insistent, and she stared up at him for a long while before she took it and watched him walk away. Her eyes felt damp and she quickly blinked away the tears that had started to form.
She had not cried in two years, and she would not cry today. Carefully, she pulled up her sleeve to expose her arm and took a sharp breath as she plunged the needle into her skin and pushed down on the plunger. Relief washed over her body and she closed her eyes, sighing.
Riven smiled weakly at Olivia when she came over and told her that it was her turn. She would have protested had the girl not already been started on tending to her wounds. And the compliment that the girl from District Six had given her was one that made her visibly shine. She was pleased that she was representing her district in what she thought was the best way possible. She hoped that they were proud of her.
When Olivia was finished, Riven smiled again. “Thank you, Olivia. The kindness that you and Caleb have shown me will not be forgotten.”
When Brad and Disdre started talking about sharing a meal, Riven nodded. “We are all allies for now,” She responded, “Pooling our resources would give us the greatest chance of surviving to escape this wretched cave.”

Caleb moved a few steps away from the group with Zale in tow. When he was far enough that he was certain that his words wouldn't drift to the others, to Liv, he spoke. He looked the other boy, young man, in the eye as he said his words. No staring at the ground, or subtly dodging, he wanted, needed, to see Zale's reaction, hear his response in voice and body.
"I have asked Olivia to marry me," he said quietly. A simple truth and he hadn't expected the Capitol to have broadcast the moment to anyone within the arena. "I... would like to leave this would after being bound to her before the One. Of us all, you seem to be the most spiritual, and, if you would be willing, I would ask you speak rites before us. A small ceremony."
It was a lot to ask. A lot to ask anyone, and more to ask of a stranger, a virtual stranger anyways. He wished, and not for the first time, that he'd met Zale, and everyone else, in a different time, under different circumstances. "And regardless of your answer, there is another request I have for you..." He glanced briefly over his shoulder at Liv as she bent treating Riven. He looked back to Zale, "If it comes to it... I need her to be seen home. I know I have nothing to fear from you, and don't fear anything from you. And have to ask you to protect her when I cannot. If there is no other surprise for us, if this rule sticks... She needs to be the one to go home."
Caleb's chest was steadily tightening as he spoke quietly to Zale, making it harder to squeeze the words out. He knew he wasn't going home with Liv. Not unless the gamemakers had another change of heart. But he would see to it that she got there. She needed to get there. He wasn't ready to die, wasn't ready to leave Liv, but... He forced himself to take a breath, waiting for the boy, young man, from four to answer.
And then, Liv was there, at his side, hugging him. He'd miss it, miss it more than words could convey. He smiled at her, fighting to keep it from being a sad smile, as she treated the wound he'd received and forgotten about. A wound that had mostly stopped bleeding, or aching, and paled in comparison with the ache he felt within.
As she rose from bandaging his leg, her swept her into a quick embrace, and gave a nod to Zale before answering Brad's question after Riven. "We should share a meal together. We're civilized people, young men and women, not the savages that everyone assumes we are. Expects us to be. As Riven has said, we're allies for the moment and we'll break bread at least one last time before parting. And it would be a fitting celebration... One, Olivia and I would like to share with you as a newly engaged couple."
He looked to Liv, tightened his arm around her shoulders. He'd do what he needed to to keep her alive.

He looked over Caleb's shoulder, watching Olivia with Riven. The first thing Caleb asked for was a small thing. At least, to Zale. Asking to be 'joined' was something he knew he'd never have, even if he were crowned the so-called "Victor' of the Battles. He was and always had been married to the worship and exaltation of The One.
"Of course." He wasn't sure how they did a wedding in District Six. "I am not sure of the customs of District Six, but I will do my best to give you the Joining everyone will remember."
It was the second request that had him blinking. 'Protect her' when Caleb could not, and Zale's eyes shot over to Liv again. Only one of each alliance could go home, and he well knew it. Olivia wasn't a fighter. She was a healer, and would likely be the first everyone would attack when things became desperate.
Just because Caleb and Olivia had the hearts of warriors and rebels did not mean the rest of their alliance did. The rest of their alliance may very well just be children desperate to get home.
Was this how Lallek felt two years ago? Looking at Jace Colton and knowing that it was very likely that only one of them could go home even if things went well? Is that what he promised himself: That he would protect Jace Colton so that the other boy could see his home again?
Even though he'd failed... ...No one had been able to foresee Jace's noble sacrifice, and he'd kept his own promises to himself.
"Yes." It was a simple thing to promise, in the end. The world needed more people like Olivia and even Caleb, and Caleb was making the noble choice. "I will do everything in my power to see that she makes it."

Willow, Pan, Psyche and Isaac were circling the supplies, talking among themselves. Psyche was the first to walk to the door and carefully open it; with the three holding weapons at her back. After a pause, Psyche peeked through the door and reported: "A ladder and a tunnel... Looks clear.."The girl rejoined her tall partner in circling the supply piles. Isaac plucked up a can of corn and an empty water bottle. Psyche picked up 1 REINFORCED 4 - person tent and a shark bang stick. Willow picked up one of the heavy 9 inch flashlights and a CELOX bandage. Pan picked up 1 (50) ft. cordage and 1 wet sealed duffel bag, which District 7 & 9 placed thier items in. Theodore picked up an Esbit stove and an empty water bottle. Dupioni picked up 1 flashlight and 1 shark bang stick. Star picked up 1 REGULAR 4 - person tent and 1 blanket. Titan plucked 50 ft of rope and the pail from the supplies pile. "A feast," Diedre smiled. "- I'll pull out whats in the chest."Diedre approached the chest that Zale and Timour had carried, pulling the key out from around her neck. Diedre pulled out Pack 10 and rifled through it. She took four bowls and placed the first meal within them, heating them briefly on the Esbit stove. Timour took the first warm meals of fried chicken and corn on the cob to Riva, Iris, Sam and Willow. Diedre went back to the pack and set about warming the garlic chicken which filled the room with a delectable aroma. Theodore used the Esbit stove to warm his pot of lamb stew and dished up bowls for Brad, Ashlyn, Star and himself. Caleb, Riven, Olivia and Zale were handed a bowl with roasted garlic chicken and mashed potatoes from Diedre. Timour had warmed four personal chicken pot pies and distributed them to Pan, Psyche, Isaac and Dupioni. The last pot of lamb stew was warmed. A bowl of stew was handed to Theodore and then Diedre and Timour checked that every one had a plate. When it was clear that they did, Diedre and Timour took a plate of lamb stew for themselves and sat down to eat. The gallon of milk was brought out of the cooler in the chest and mugs were filled and passed around for those who wanted one. "Thank you. That was nice." Theo stated to the room. "This could have been a lot worse."You're welcome." Diedre replied graciously. "It was their idea." She nodded towards the leaders. Isaac lowered his pot pie tin, setting it on the ground. He looked over to Dupioni, checking her scrape. " Theo, they got you with that tail, too? Nice work, Olivia."He glanced to the medical table, noting that there were 2 Celox packages, a brace and a roll of bandages. "You two don't have medical supplies, maybe you should get some.""Sam, let me see your bite. You were bitten pretty good, weren't you?" Iris asked her partner. "Not that bad." Sam protested. "So..." Sam looked around the room. "We're full and happy. What should we do?" He glanced at the piles of supplies and towards the door. Those glancing around the room will notice certain things about the people in the room with them. Diedre wore all of her armor; the [+2] leg bracers, [+2] chest armor, [+2] arm bracers and [+2] bevor over her neck. Timour wore [+2] chest plate and [+2] helmet. Both looked healthy. District 5's Star & Titan wear no armor and look healthy. Pan and Willow wear [+1] Helmet and both look well. District 8's Dupioni wore [+2] Helm and both look healthy, as Olivia has just healed them. District 9's Isaac wore [+2] leg bracers and [+2] bevor. Both Isaac and Psyche look healthy. District 11's Sam wore [+2] chest plate while Iris wore [+2] chest plate, [+2] helm and [+2] leg bracers. Both look well. Ashlyn and Brad of district 12 have suffered some damage from the lizards. Ashlyn has been tended, although Brad's arm bleeds some. Ashlyn wears [+2] Bevor, [+2] chest plate and [+2 helm]. Brad wears [+2] helm and [+2 chest plate. Towards the back of the room, Psyche and Isaac examine the map near the door to the fourth room. “The water is gone.” Psyche observed, gesturing to the map section marked by the ship icon. The Tidal Peninsula was now completely covered by ocean. “We haven’t seen water anywhere else.” Isaac frowned. “We’re going to be in trouble.”“What do you think they’re talking about?” Willow of district seven walked up beside Psyche and Isaac, nodding towards Caleb, Olivia, Zale and Riven. “Looks serious, whatever it is.” Psyche mused. “Probably about how to get us through the next ordeal.” Isaac suggested. “They get along well.” Pan mused, half under his breath. “Is that a problem?” Psyche frowned. Pan turned his head from the rest of the room, speaking quietly. [-3] to perception, one roll for each sentence marked 'whisper' or 'just as quiet'.“Not for them. But Caleb and Olivia are good people. How do we know if Diedre or Tim is planning on stabbing them as soon as we’re outside?” Psyche and Isaac gave Diedre and Timour a sharp glance. Willow and Pan keep their eyes downwards, studying the map. “We can’t.” Psyche whispered. “But they’ve been honorable-“ “That’s Zale and Riven.” Pan replied, just as quiet. “You heard Silver; and those are Silver’s kids. We need to think of whats best for Caleb and Olivia.” “We need water.” Isaac stated in a normal voice. “That’s our top priority.” Dropping his voice to a whisper, Isaac replied. “They’re smart. Riven and Zale look like good judges of character. I don’t think they’d be O.K. with –“ “This is Day 2.” Pan said quietly. “Look at the gear. It’s enough for four people and we have everyone but three and ten right here. In the past Games, big alliances get Avenged. Tentacle trees. Pygmies.” “What are you saying?” Psyche whispered. “That we need to beware. They may not want to, but our alliance is over in twenty feet. I think you guys ought to run as soon as we’re out.” You guys aren't as fast as us.” Psyche whispered. “Nor is Olivia.” “Caleb is. I think you guys should get him to one of these islands; and we’ll bring Olivia.” Psyche frowned, not liking the idea. “Go talk to the others.” Isaac spoke to Willow and Pan normally. Willow and Pan walked up to Riven, Zale, Caleb and Olivia. Psyche and Isaac remain by the map at the far side of the room. During this exchange, Riva has been watching the exchange by the map closely. “Hello Zale,” Willow and Pan extend their hands to Zale and Riven. “Riven.”“This one is called Riva.” Riva spoke from Zale’s side, extending her hand. In the far side of the room, a few tributes decide to make use of the ' Mentor's Chute' in the cavern. Brad of District 12 is the first to send a note to district 12 mentors. Psyche sends a note to Jan & Lyme.

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.” Olivia met Riven's eyes and smiled, warmly. She put a had on the girl's shoulder. “Be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. So it is written...”It was something her grandfather used to say. Something to keep their hopes up in dark times. And in the Arena, in this cavern. There was nothing as dark as this. “A wedding?...” Olivia asked, her face flushing as red as her hair. “Are you serious?”She smiled, weakly, turning to Zale to await his answer. And when he said that he would, she leaped at him wrapping her arms around the boy from District Four. “Thank you. Thank you so much. I can help with the rites. I grew up in the Worship House.”She looked back at Caleb and hugged him too. “I never wanted anything so badly. Since we were little... I always knew I'd be married to you someday...”There was a pang of bittersweetness to her voice. Olivia would leave this world as Mrs. Caleb Hunnington. But she'd never grow old with him by her side and their army of grandchildren. She kissed his cheek. “I'm going to get us some supplies.”Olivia walked around the room collecting items that they needed. As the silence befell them, Olivia could hear whispers all around her. She picked up the bandages and the 2 Celox packages and put them into her pack. At the talk of water, she picked up the Water reclamation kit: 10 oz metal canteen cup, clear wrap, collapsible shovel. With water being so valuable, they needed a back up. Her chest tightened and she followed Isaac and Psyche's gaze to the tributes of district two, looking for any sign of aggression. Olivia Tully rolled 8 dice to "Reading Diedre [Wits 4 + Empathy 3 + Specialty (1)]" 5,4,3,7,5,1,4,10,7 (1 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 8 dice to "Reading Timour [Wits 4 + Empathy 3 + Specialty (1)]" 1,6,9,2,2,7,7,5 (1 successes)She wanted to smile at her alliance. They were thinking about the alliance. Not just themselves. So Olivia had to think about them as well. She picked up a bag of bananas, a can opener, a can of chicken noodle soup, a can of fruit cocktail, the Esbit stove with (4) fuel, a water proof tin with (10) cookies and a water proof tin with (10) portions of jerky. No, they wouldn't be okay with them just attacking District Two. Not without D2 doing something dishonorable. She knew this. But to keep her alliance save, could Olivia stain her soul? No. She couldn't. Do not attack unless attacked. Even if that cost her her life. That was her code in the Arena. Pan was right. But that didn't change Olivia's feelings about this. They allied the way they did because their were strength in numbers. She picked up 50 Ft. of rope, the Climbing Kit, a 9 inch metal flashlight with a pack of batteries, the flare gun with the four flares, a tarp in Camo green 6 ft X 6 ft, one Metal frying pan, a tea kettle with four mugs, a camouflage paint kit, a 5 gallon bucket, the two S shaped hooks. She strained to hear what Pan was saying but she didn't get his reply or what Psyche said in response. And she stuffed all of that stuff into a dry sealed duffel bag. She put the rest of the items into a chest. And picked up the barbed fishing spear for Zale and Riva. Olivia sighed, putting more clothes for her and Caleb. Two white T shirts, two camouflage T shirts, two camouflage hair caps, two pairs camouflage shorts, two pairs of sunglasses, two Pairs Cotton socks, 1 3.5 ounces of sunscreen, two pairs hiking boots, two long sleeve thermal shirts in green, two fleece pullovers in camouflage, two thick sweaters in gray, two Rain slickers in gray, two pairs warm wool socks in black, two pairs of gloves in black, two woolen hats in gray, two knitted scarves in gray and two blankets, (one of which she wanted to give to Riven.) Once that was done she walked back over to Caleb and the others, giving Zale the fishing spear and put the blanket on Riven. “Hello, Willow....”Olivia Tully rolled 8 dice to "Reading Willow [Wits 4 + Empathy 3 + Specialty (1)]" 2,4,4,8,4,7,8,2 (2 successes)Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Perception - 3 (Check #1)" 8,7,6,6,8 (2 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Perception - 3 (Check #2)" 5,1,1,3,1 (0 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Perception - 3 (Check #3)" 10,1,6,1,10,5,4 (2 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Perception - 3 (Check #4)" 7,2,10,3,3,6 (1 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Perception - 3 (Check #5)" 7,6,1,8,9 (2 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Perception - 3 (Check #6)" 8,10,7,2,2,6 (2 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Perception - 3 (Check #7)" 1,6,2,7,4 (0 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Perception - 3 (Check #8)" 3,3,1,2,7 (0 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Perception - 3 (Check #9)" 10,5,5,4,8,4 (2 successes)

Zale was a little shocked when Olivia hugged him. It was nothing, really. He wasn't even quite sure how to do a marriage rite, if only because 'joinings' in District Four were extremely personal things. Usually, the couple would get their license from the Justice Building at whatever moment they had time, and would then say their oaths to each other privately. Still, not all Districts were the same, he figured, and he could improvise, he was sure. With Olivia's help, it shouldn't be too difficult. After all, it was the intent behind the ritual, not the poetry. Oh dear...Poetry. "This one thanks you for the honor." He could only assume it meant that they thought somewhat highly of him. Of course, the conversations going on around him weren't lost on Zale. He'd been taught how to keep an eye on everything around him in a combat zone, and regardless of where they were and the fact that they were eating and talking? This was certainly a combat zone. One that could turn deadly at any moment. The barbed spear is taken and looked over, and Zale nodded to Olivia in thanks. It would be useful if they had need, and he added it to the collection of the things he'd managed to scavenge. Hopefully, it wouldn't come to having to kill a shark, but it very well could. And he'd made yet another promise. There was no food left, but he and Riva were both capable of finding their own if the need arose. It was water that was going to prove difficult to get, and he refused to count on the kindness of a Godless people. It meant they would need to find water. Fresh water. And soon. They perhaps had enough for the rest of the day. "Riva, if you would gather wetsuits, blankets, with the waterproof dufflebag. I would not turn my nose up at warm clothing either...We are strong swimmers, but this one would not wish to see us freeze after having made it someplace dry and safe.
"I will see to our shelter implements."Zale gathered the nails, the tarp, the pry bar, the hammer, and the shovel, and picked up the wood-planks. He wasn't the best with such things, but Riva was a crafter. Between the two of them they could have gone this alone and probably have survived for quite awhile. Nothing to be done about it now, of course. He rolled everything up in the tarp, wrapping a cord around it and hefting it over his shoulder. They had a great deal of gear, and would perhaps likely need to get rid of some of it soon, but the others had taken food. They had taken things to get their own. Teach a man to fish, and all that.... While there, he pulled his cards, pulling six at random and taking a deep breath. Trust your instincts' was what it was telling him. Trust in himself and what he felt, and things would work out for the best. The Emperor. The Chariot. The Hermit. The High Priestess. Death. Temperance. He folded the message to their Walking Dead--his Mentors--and hope for the best. "The Cards say to follow my instincts. My allies are now my enemies, and my enemies are now my allies. I would approach District Six? This one asks The Dead to advise."
The boy from District Seven stepped up to him, and offered his hand, and Zale instinctively clasped his arm in the 'District Four' way, eyes meeting the other boy's with an intensity that seemed to put people off...unless, of course, they had nothing to hide, or they were strong willed enough to stare right back at him. "Yes, that's right." Willow replied. "I wanted to thank you for sharing your food with us. After all of the chaos, its nice to sit and rest with you.""It won't last." Pan replied. Willow gave him a stern look and Pan elaborated. "I didn't mean to slight the kindness. I was referring to the resting." His eyes went to Olivia and Caleb. "We were wondering what you were discussing."Pan was an earnest boy and not prone to lying. He disliked duplicity, but he still felt that confiding in district two would be a mistake. He didn't seem to mind that Riva and Zale could overhear him. "I shall." Riva replied to Zale. "It was good to meet you." Riva nodded to Willow and Pan. She stepped past them, noting that the water proof bags were all gone. Riva chose a chest and placed within one male and female wet suit, (2) blankets, (2) Pairs Cotton socks, (2) camouflage T shirts, (2) long sleeve thermal shirts in green and (2) pairs camouflage shorts. As she was choosing, Psyche stepped up beside her and simultaneously began to choose clothing. Psyche chose (2) Pairs Cotton socks, (2) pairs hiking boots (2) fleece pullovers in camouflage, (2) thick sweaters in gray and (4) pairs warm wool socks in black. Riva glanced at her choices and took (2) pairs warm wool socks in black and (2) woolen hats in gray. With the clothing greatly picked over, Star and Diedre picked up a few items. Star chose (1) silk undershirts (white) Size small, (1) silk undershirts (white) Size large, (2) Rain slickers in gray and (2) long sleeve thermal shirts in green. Diedre chose (4) long sleeve thermal shirts in green and (2) pairs warm wool socks in black. As the girls were securing these items in their packs, Riva returned to Zale's side. "There are no more wet sealed bags. I could use a tarp. I chose some versatile items for clothing-"As she spoke, gray dust wafted down from the ceiling above. Riva halted her words and glanced upwards. "Thats not good-" A sharp jarring shift of the ground caused some of the wet gear to roll onto the ground with metallic clanks. A flash light rolled across the floor when the room jolted sharply to the left. Several people cried out with alarm as two stone pieces of the ceiling crashed down between Diedre and Psyche. "Quake." Willow identified. "Caleb, Liv, - the door!""This way!" Star shouted, leading the way into room four. She opened the door to the tunnel leading to the beach and charged on ahead. Titan and Brad helped Ashlyn to her feet. The three hustled towards the tunnel when Brad paused, grabbing the knee brace and placed it in Ashlyn's duffel bag that he was carrying. Riva stayed by Zale's side, as Willow and Pan stayed beside Caleb and Liv. Psyche began running towards Liv when Isaac swept her off of her feet and carried her out into the tunnel. "Come!" Isaac encouraged over his shoulder, charging into the tunnel. A small sheet of paper drifted down the mentor's chute, carried over to Zale's hand. The cavern was becoming increasingly unstable with each passing moment. Staying seemed hazardous. The exits were the tunnel to the Beach or the CliffsRiven hefted up her pack and led the way up the ladder to the cliffs. Diedre and Timour followed after her, unscrewing the hatch top and opening it to reveal sky ablaze with the setting sun. All three climbed out into the day light safely. Riven knelt down above the ladder, calling 'Zale, this way! Could you get the chest-""ROCS!" Diedre shouted, tackling Riven out of sight. The hatch back to the top clanked shut. Any attempts to open it was faced with extreme difficulty, as though a large boulder were sitting atop of the opening.

"Good... thank you." Caleb clasped Zale's forearm before backing away from the boy. He accepted the food and broke bread with the group, eating with a smile as he looked over the combined alliances. He wished, not for the first time, nor certainly not the last, that they weren't in the Arena and destined to die within the next few days. He wistfully finished his stew, carefully cleaning the bowl before stuffing it into his duffel.
He smiled at Liv, nodding at her. His love clear in the way his gaze lingered on her. He dipped to kiss his beloved lightly before setting to stowing the gear she'd chosen. "Wedding plans," he answered Pan without looking up from what he was doing. After a few minutes he'd tightened the duffel's drawstrings and slung it over his back, carefully redistributing arrows to two quivers instead of three.
"Zale here will officiate for us." Caleb couldn't hide the delight in his voice as he spoke, though it was cut short as the floor began to vibrate. His eyes darted to the exits that were available. They'd need to get out. The cliffs were foreign, the beach were not. It didn't hurt that the others were already making for the cliffs and, as much as it pained Caleb to admit it, the alliance was coming to an end at the lights at the end of the tunnels. "Beach! Head for the beach!" He slipped his hand into Liv's and ran for the beach, trusting the others to follow suit.
