Yesterday, the Xmen and Magneto had led a rescue mission to save thier abducted Rogue. They were successful in breaking into a facility and saving four children - Jimmy; the telepath, Priya; the flier enhanced with super - strength, Shade; the shadow manipulator and Sophia, the water manipulator. Yet the highly organized team of abductors had whisked a drugged Rogue out to parts unknown. Bobby had also been incapacitated by a dart that had knocked him out for twelve hours. Upon regaining consciousness, he can not manifest his powers. Had the dart forcibly cured him? How had they lost Rogue? Were too few on the team? Had there been too many distractions at once? The Xmen return to the Mansion burning with hurt pride, but welcome two new student - boarders: Priya and Shade. Another positive outlook was that the newly freed Jimmy and Sophia were reunited with Chelsea and Ryan, siblings with undisclosed mutations. These four had been reunited with thier parents, but strongly wish to join the X - Men when they search for the Rehabilitation Facility. The chart that had been posted at the Laboratory has been posted in the ready room of the X - Men, displaying what these mysterious abductors had done. The chart pinned to the wall had subject designations, locations, abilities... - Subject Zero Power ~ Elastic Skin Location: Rehabilitation Facility
- Subject One Power ~Electric Control Location: Rehabilitation Facility
- Subject Two Power ~ Invisibility Location: Rehabilitation Facility
- Subject Three Power ~ Super Strength, Power Absorption, Flight Location: Laboratory
- Subject Four Power ~ Telepathy Location: Laboratory
- Subject Five Power ~ Water Control Location: Laboratory
- Subject Six Power ~ Shadow Manipulation Location: Laboratory
- Subject Seven Power ~ Power Absorption Location: Laboratory
The X - Men now faced the task of locating this ' Rehabilitation Facility' and freeing the three original captives. The thoughts that Jimmy, Priya, Shade, Sophia and Rogue all had been subjected to having their blood drawn and that those samples were taken away by the unknowns; that the unknowns knew precisely what these five were capable of. Beast and Storm had called the students down to the staging room where the chart was posted. Kitty Pride was the first to arrive, shortly joined by Priya. Would Storm call upon Ryan and Chelsea, Jimmy and Sophia to join them?

Shade: Shadow Dancer “We are not defined by the family into which we are born, but the one we choose and create. We are not born, we become.” Devon had gotten him the goggles, and had gotten him something to eat. He'd eaten lightly, because even in that place he hadn't really had 'good' food, and he'd been nearly starved before that. Shade was still a touch thin from a year or more living on the streets. Out of trash cans and off of the kindness of strangers. He supposed that was what was going on now, but at the same time it was different. They didn't want anything from him. He'd met a few of those. Someone who was 'kind' enough to buy him a sandwich, but who wanted something else in return for said food, and there had been times he'd been tempted to do whatever someone wanted if it meant he could get a shower and maybe a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed. Tempted, but he'd never done it. The streets could be cruel, and could be even worse for a 'pretty 'kid, and "Tyler Michaels' had been pretty. He could sort of see now, and while he was a little slow in arriving, he did smile when he came into the room. Or at least he tried to. He was sort of afraid of all this. Of facing it all again, but there were three people at some rehabilitation facility, and his own fate may have lay in that place too. No one should be used that way. No one. "...Hi." He wasn't sure if they'd let him keep the goggles, but Devon had implied that 'they had better'. It wasn't as dark in here as he'd like, and he'd probably be blind if he took them off. He couldn't see the best with them on, but he could at least pick things out. "Hi, Priya. And...Kitty?"He was still learning names. If he stayed here--and he very well may if they let him--he would be learning names for awhile. From everything he heard, there were a fair few students at this school.

Devon: Wounded Healer “Something happens when I heal someone. It's not just their wounds I absorb, it's their pain too. I take in that pain, I experience that hurt. Their wounds become my wounds. Their emotional anguish too. I experience their injuries as if they were my own. And yes, it hurts more than you can possibly imagine. So why do I keep doing it? I do it because maybe one day it'll free me. You don't know what it's like to skate so close to death, so close to being free only to be slammed back into reality. I heal people so that maybe one of the injuries'll be something I can't come back from...” Devon trailed in just after Shade. Her first friend. Perhaps. She didn't know. Not really. Maybe he was just as damaged as she was. Maybe he wasn't. She'd like to think that she met a kindred spirit. See, she didn't just take in his sickness, she took in his anguish too. She could still feel his emotional pain, leaning on the back of her mind. Still, there but not floating to the surface. It was like that with her own emotional scars. They could never float to the surface. No one could ever know how hurt Devon really was. So she wore a mask of pleasant neutrality. “Hello, everyone...”

Lacy Rogan: Telepath and Manipulator "Have you ever listened to someone? Not just, like, heard them, but actually listened to someone? You see, I do listen to people. I listen so deep that I hear their thoughts, and once I do that... Well, I find what makes them tick and light a fire underneath that. It's such a thrill to watch someone explode with emotions that I've engorged. You should try it sometime." Lacy moved into the room and took a spot near the side. She closed her eyes for a moment, and set to actively tuning thoughts out. It was an effort that she was certain those in the room would appreciate. Few actually liked to have their minds read without permission and Lacy opted to not to invade without permission. Most of the time. She opened her eyes and smiled toward those in the room. She recognized a couple faces, though she was still new enough that she didn't know everyone. She wasn't terribly surprised to not see Christian in the room. Their mission to visit the beaten mutant and gather information to feed to the senator about the attack and how he could use it to prevent the registration hadn't gone the best in the world. Sure, she'd gotten some anecdotal evidence, and could convey that evidence to anyone who wanted, and had done so for the Senator, but it wasn't quite what they'd been tasked to get. She turned that inward failure outward, and let a small, pretty smile drift onto her face, turning once more toward everyone there. She was trying something new, something exciting. While she may not be terrifically combat proficient, she could read people better than most and walls didn't usually stop her from reading a mind. That alone would be helpful. "Hey there," she said, strong and proud toward those nearest to her. She held her hand out toward Devon and then Shade. "Lacy Rogan. You're?"

Beast glanced around the room, his eyes seeking out Storm's gaze.
"Shade." The blue man greeted the newcomer with a nod. "Thank you for joining us." Devon stepped in and Beast smiled. "Devon, hello." Beast thought for a moment and spoke to these two slowly. "I hope that you two don't feel obligated to come. I would be pleased if you wish to; but this could be very dangerous. Confronting your attackers is not something that you have to do." He glanced towards Shade.
After a few moments and more of the students entered, he glanced at his watch worriedly. As Lacey entered, he smiled and gave the girl a nod.
"Hello, Lacey. I'm glad that you've joined us."
Beast turned and indicated chart. "This is what the scientists at the Facility were working with. They are creating categories of mutants based on their abilities. From interviewing Shade, Priya and the others that were rescued, they are trying to create a certain 'type' of mutant. They seem to have managed to use blood samples to insert the genes that cause mutations. Now this is all very complicated, but the genes that cause mutation haven't been studied extensively yet. There's no way to know that inserting a gene will cause the same mutation in another person. Not to mention; this is all highly illegal.
Shade, Priya, I hope you will tell us if you suffer any medical ailments. We'll make sure to get you treatment."
"Ah... Professor." Priya cleared her throat. She lowered her eyes as attention in the room turned to her, but she continued.
"The gene... thing that they performed on me... when I got to the facility, I could not fly. Now I can... They say it was something expressed... well, I don't really understand it." She stated uncomfortably.
"But one of my abilities is that I can touch people... and am able to do what they can do for a time. I know that they wanted to give my ability to every one there. They injected Jimmy and Sophia with it." She turned to Shade. "And they injected Shade with Jimmy's expressed ..gene thingy."
"Oh my." Beast sighed. "That may be why they abandoned the facility with Rogue. I haven't had the opportunity to study her cell structure since she took the cure. They may believe that they can use her for their nefarious purposes.
The point stands that they have obviously kidnapped mutants that need to be rescued, not only Rogue. We can involve authorities, but we know that these people are highly trained and armed. I believe we should be the ones to rescue the children.
Now," Beast pinned a map to the wall, a topographical map that showed the biomes of the area. There were three areas on the map circled in red - and all appeared to be in abandoned, green areas.
"- these three areas have been blocked off any source of tracing. No Google earth, air craft fly overs or satilette feeds have any thing on these areas. The first thing I would propose is that we investigate these areas and see which are most likely to be this Rehab Facility."

Magneto: Unbowed champion May God have mercy on their souls, for I shall have none He strode into the room but paused considering beasts speach quietly. He stood silently in his red armor, his face obscured by his helm. Again, he thought, this would have been much easier with charles. His Abilities with Cerebro would have easily picked through these unoccuppied forests. "You assume that they are not working with the 'Authorities'." He says hard but not harsh. "Such firepower and organisation does not come out of nowhere. Nor does a black spot on this worlds near total surveillence net." He did not expand that he knew all too well what 'Authorities' could do... "I doubt my prefered methods would be acceptable to you, so All I will say is that we should move in fast, before they have a chance to relocate and not get bogged down with worrying about collateral damage."

Shade: Shadow Dancer “We are not defined by the family into which we are born, but the one we choose and create. We are not born, we become.” "They said it was 'Telepathy'. Jimmy apologized to me. In here." Shade tapped the side of his head, and then frowned. If they'd given him Jimmy's ability, what poor sod may end up blind because of his? While he wouldn't trade his shadows and his darkness for anything, he also knew that just once he'd like to be able to experience a sunny day or to see colors as other people saw them. Now, it was all shades of gray and black and sometimes blue... "I want to go. To 'pay it forward', as it were. Someone helped me, so I want to help someone else. No one deserves that, and I...I need to do this. I need to face the people who did this. Those people took me off the street, but others? Other people have families and people who care about them, wondering where they are. It's wrong."Shade looked to Beast then, and frowned. "I felt bad yesterday. When you all brought me back here. They'd just given it to me, and I started feeling sick. Devon...she helped me." He nodded a thanks to...his first friend in this place. Or rather; His first real friend in ever. Maybe? "I'm babbling. I'm out of practice at all this. Sorry I...I want to go. If that's alright. I need to go."

Emerging from the shadows, a pair of eyes resolved into something resembling a cat, which then changed and grew and became Mystique, in her old familiar blue-scaled form. Anyone looking closely might notice the odd small patch of human-looking skin, and some of her hair was brunette while most was back to it’s regular orange/ginger colour.
“Well spoken, Shade. Beast – As you can see, some (but not all) of my abilities have returned naturally, to some extent. I can at last be useful again, and wish to volunteer my assistance in the rescue efforts. I look like myself again, more-or-less, and can change size and shape as I just demonstrated. But I won’t be fooling anyone into thinking I’m someone else for a while. I also find myself unable to sustain a full-body change in form for long, perhaps a couple minutes tops at my current level of recovery. Even so, I’m sure I can be useful in many circumstances and I want to help…” I looked around as I added “Any objections?” aimed at anyone in general.
I didn’t bother mentioning how I’d ended up back at the mansion. Perhaps someone would ask sooner or later, but I got the sense it would be off-topic for this briefing. I didn’t bother getting upset at Magneto’s presence either, I simply ignored him and pretended he wasn’t there. Unless the mission required communication between us, I would continue to deliberately ignore him. I couldn’t forgive him for abandoning me the other week, but perhaps in time I’d at least move past that… Perhaps.

The stream of appearances in the staging room were not yet done as a familiar stubble-ridden face walked into the room. What had been a pristine X-Man uniform was now riddled with cuts, gaps and holes that could have only come from gunfire, yet the skin showing beneath was unblemished. With an audible crack, the wearer cricked his neck to one side, relieving some of the tension in his metal covered joints. Though his healing factor had taken care of the wounds, it didn't stop the mutant known as Wolverine feeling some residual pain from where each and every injury had taken place. Still, better than death.

"Oh, there you are, Logan... What kept you? Trouble parking??" I smirked slyly, hoping to amuse him rather than annoy him, but who knew what mood he'd be in...
I casually folded my arms over my chest, glad my newly regrown scales would hide any blushing that might occur...

Ororo Munroe “Storm”: The Weather Witch “You counter despair with hope. You strive forever for the best you are capable to be. Therein lies the victory.” Storm’s expression was warm indifference. She had not yet mastered the broad-minded stare that Charles had use with the deft precision of a surgeon. She forgot sometimes that he had been a scientist before he became a teacher and her mentor. She nodded to Beast. Charles encouraged his people to provide guidance. She, herself had lead meaning briefing sessions much like this one. As Beast spoke she watched the newcomers; Shade, Devon, and Lacy. Each offered had something different to offer. Each could be modeled into heroes or villains one day. These years were the most crucial in their development. These years would shape what kind of adults they’d become. And Storm… she felt obligated to them. Perhaps the same way Charles had to her, Jean, and Scott. “As Beast said, this will be an all-volunteer mission. This is a teaching facility, first and the base of operation for the X-Men, second. I won’t force any student go on this mission who doesn’t wish to be there. Also, if it looks too fortified I won’t permit any student going.”Storm listened to Magneto, trying not to allow her prior prejudices affect the way she processed his words. He asked for a chance; Storm was trying to give him one. She nodded. “It would be foolish to assume that it wasn’t possible. But as the once infamous leader of the Brotherhood, you should know how well it is to gather such an array of firepower and organization. It could be SHEILD. It could be the Government. I don’t know. But what I do know is that they are hurting people… innocents and that must be stopped.
“I also must disagree with you say that I have ever intention to get bogged down with worrying about collateral damage. If we do this fast, as you suggest, I will add that it should be quiet as well.”Shade spoke up and Storm turned her attention to him. She smiled at his words. “Okay. Shade is going.”Dark clouds gathered outside… A storm was coming… “I object, but I assume you knew that was coming, Mystique…”Alexander Summers “Havoc”: The Fallen Summers Boy “The Brotherhood is not about senseless killing. It is about assuring that mutants will live in peace. With themselves, with each other, and amongst humans” Apparently Mags was staying. So Alex would stay too. It was weird being back here. Like going back to your old high school for a reunion. Everything was different but at the same time everything was the same. At least this time he knew were they kept the beer. “Heh… Raven’s back… Big surprise. So are you one of the good guys this time or one of the bad guys? You do so much flip-floppin’ I have a hard time keepin’ track, you know?”He looked at Storm and Beast. “Of course I’m goin’. Not a party until I arrive.”Devon: Wounded Healer “Something happens when I heal someone. I heal people so that maybe one of the injuries'll be something I can't come back from...” She took the offered hand. “Devon.” Devon wasn’t openly hostile. She just wasn’t used to personal interaction. Barring her morning experience with Shade and getting him a way to see during the day, Devon’s social interactions had been very limited. She was with Magento. Go in fast and don’t worry about the people that chose to raise a hand against their people. So what they were just men following orders. The moment they didn’t speak out against it was the moment they became just as culpable as the people who had given the order in the first place. Still, she was beginning to see how things worked here so Devon let Magento speak for her without showing her hand. “If they’re keeping our people against their will I don’t see a reason why I wouldn’t want to go if I could help in some way.
“I healed Shade last night but my healing factor took care of whatever sickness he had within hours. During the rescue some of the captive might be wounded. You have doctors here, but no true healers. The way I see things is that you need me on this mission.”

I turned toward Storm as she spoke and quirked my head to the side in contemplation of her objection. “Curious… You object to myself, who has openly renounced Magneto for VERY good reason and offered to help the X-men however I can, yet you do not object to Magneto himself, who directly lead your ‘enemies’ so recently and clearly has his own motivations. Why is that? – ‘Better the devil you know’ or something? I used to follow him without question, I trusted him and the moment I asked for HIS help he turned away like I was something he’d stepped in. Ironically, if I was still in league with him, you would be accepting my assistance BECAUSE you’re accepting his! Well, one thing HE will hopefully confirm if he has ANY regret for what he did to me, is that I have always been loyal and trustworthy – Until he gave me good reason to turn against him, as you well know.” I took a measured, calm tone throughout, the only indication of anger was toward Magneto, not Storm.
I kinda understood her distrust of me, except when weighing it against her apparent trust of Magneto. The duality there was a little frustrating, as I expressed.
“I am aware of the ‘absence’ of Jean Grey and Charles Xavier, but if you happen to have any other telepaths who might help you determine my new loyalties more directly, under condition they don’t delve too deep, I would probably submit to a psychic probe of that nature. Magneto, most likely, would not. He still wards off psychic penetration with that helmet of his even now. Why not ask him? I’d be VERY surprised and impressed if he agreed to it, even if you don’t intend to actually go through with the procedure.” I tried to keep my disdain for the man under control as I spoke.
Next I addressed Havoc, with a smile: “My dear boy, when the good guys and the bad guys team up toward a common goal, the last thing that should matter is which side I’m on – It becomes a moot point; we all want to rescue the mutants from the humans.”
I listened to the girl, Devon, as she spoke about being a healer. “Hmm… Tell me, healer, have you ever tried to heal a ‘cured’ mutant of the effects of that cure? Would you like to try? – But then again, what if you absorbed it and it cured you of your healing powers, what then?” I didn’t press the matter, but it was something she should consider. If not for me, then for herself – I wasn’t the only ‘cured’ mutant she might be called on to heal during the coming mission; why not find out in the safety of this mansion?
All healers I’d previously met had worried they might heal a ‘bad’ person who went on to harm others. This one appeared somehow fond of Magneto, if I was reading her body language correctly. I had to wonder who else noticed this…

"All right. These are very good points. Shade, welcome to the team. We'll have a suit made up for you when we can... and discuss if you want advanced training to join the Xmen.
Time is of the essence..." Beast studied the map. "We need to decide how best to evaluate these sites. I say we split into two teams and check out the two closest ones. If we don't locate any thing, we'll move to the third together."
"Mystique, you'll come with me. "
He thought it best to keep Mystique with himself. Besides Logan, she had communicated best with himself so far.
"Magneto, decide which team you would like to join. Devon and Lacey, I'd like it if you could come with me. Your thoughts?"

Logan briefly ducked out into the corridor to replace his tattered uniform, arriving back in time for the proposal of splitting into two teams.
So Hank wanted the kids and the shapeshifting Smurfette on his team? Interesting, but Logan already was sure of which team he wanted to side with.
"I'll go with whoever's ditching ole Bucket-head." Logan still didn't trust their former enemy, recalling the events of Alkali Lake where Magneto had professed to help them only royally stab them all in the back to advance his mutant cause.

Some part of her agreed with Magneto, but... another part wanted this solved diplomatically. Neither of those options, in her head, involved using people outside of this room, however. She looked at Mystique. "I'm a telepath. I could verify, if need be."She listened as the elder mutants started to divide teams. When Beast spoke to her, she nodded, glanced at Devon, then crossed the room to stand next to him. "I'm totally okay with that, Professor McCoy."

Magneto: Self-Styled Hero "May God have Mercy on their souls for I shall have none. "I would prefer Devon at my side." He offers, not giving any reasoning or explanation for his request. "Other than that it seems simple, you take Mystique and Logan, Ororo and Alex are with me. " He does not so much as look at mystique, nor did he so much as raise an eyebrow at her outburst if she could not understand why he had done what he had done that was her failing. "You may also take Shade." He says after a moment, giving the other team the numbers advantage but also the more complicated command. He would rather go into battle alone than with the two vipers he had saddled beast with, not that he found it easy to feel sympathy for the man who had tried to rob him of his birthright.

Shade: Shadow Dancer “We are not defined by the family into which we are born, but the one we choose and create. We are not born, we become.” There's a look to Devon. To the others. It was all happening so fast, and he was just offered the opportunity to stay on after this was over. To actually go to school and...even start training to join the X-Men. It was a little overwhelming, and he was a little speechless. These people knew nothing about him. Not even really what he could do. Which...it wasn't smart, to go into what could become a battle without them knowing what he was capable of. "I...I will likely stay." He had no place else to go, after all, and with what those people had done to him, he may need the support if whatever it was started to manifest. "I will say...I am somewhat blind when it comes to well-lit places, but I have perfect vision in the dark. The darker the better. I can also...move the shadows, and I am...a tad bit stronger than a normal person." "I don't have much in the way of fighting ability, but I'm good at not being noticed, and can get into and out of places pretty easily. I...I was the one who managed to remove Priya's collar."Everyone had their strengths, and Shade knew what his were. At least, what they were now. If he trained more, he'd likely discover other things he could do. "But yes..I'll stay. I want to, and...I have no place else to go."

I had no problem with Beast assigning me to his team, but hesitated in case Magneto wanted to be on that team too. – I’d rather pick whichever team he wasn’t on, personally, and couldn’t help but smile when Logan expressed a similar opinion. It was nice to know we had a few things in common!
I’d already started moving toward Beast when Magneto chose the other team, much to my relief.
A young female telepath addressed me, and I smiled – Proof was within Storm’s grasp for the asking; Myself and a telepath had already consented if it was her wish. Perhaps even that by itself might be enough for Storm to give me the benefit of the doubt. If not, I’d submit… Within reason.
“Very pleased to make your acquaintance, Miss Lacy. I hope I get chance to get to know you a bit before I let you into my mind… If that is Storm’s wish. I also hope you’ll be discrete about anything not pertinent to my loyalties?” I winked at her, darting my eyes to Wolverine and back so she’d understand some of what she might encounter in my head.
It seemed Magneto had decided to ignore me, which suited me perfectly. The less I thought about that man the more comfortable I felt.
I listened to Shade’s brief description of some of his abilities. “Hmm, infiltration and exfiltration abilities, exactly what we need for this mission. Tell me, do you have to do these things alone or can you take others with you? If we can all get in without triggering any alarms, that would be a distinct advantage.” I asked, accompanying him en route to our newly-formed group.

"I don't dig deep unless it's absolutely necessary. And since this would be just to determine the truth of your words, it won't be necessary to dig deep. I don't like to violate anyone's privacy when I don't need tuh." She slid her hands behind her back. People's privacy was very important to her and this situation was no different. There'd only been a handful of people who she'd actively delved without their permission, the most recent having been a cheating boyfriend, and then she'd had good reason. And they hadn't known she was a mutant. Lacy tipped her head toward Shade as he explained his talents and said, "That'd be awesome if you could get us all in there under the 'dark of night' so to speak."

“That sounds perfect to me, Miss Lacy! – Storm? If Lacy had been monitoring my honesty thusfar, she could confirm I’ve been truthful in everything I’ve said to you. If you’d like to ask something now with her guaranteeing a straight answer, before we part for the mission, go right ahead. If not, it can always wait until later, or if she’s coming with our team she could always determine what you want to know FOR you and report back? Either way is fine with me.” I was pleased Lacy showed such restraint with her abilities, Charles would have liked her very much… I wish he was still around to guide her and help her explore her abilities like he did with Jean.
I was not yet sure of her surname, but even if I knew it I’d still call her ‘Miss Lacy’ to indicate respect without being too formal about it. Besides, it had a nice ring to it!
I caught myself wondering: If Lacy joined the X-men proper, what might she choose as her nom-de-gare? Or would she copy Jean and stick to her real name…
Lacy’s aside to Shade made me smile – She caught on fast, which would continue to benefit her throughout her life. I was starting to like this girl, and I wondered if she could tell… Or perhaps she was still tuning everyone out. Either way seemed fine by me.

Magneto: Dedicated Soldier "May God have Mercy on Their Souls, For I Shall Have None" Magneto's hand grasped slowly into a fist. As his grip tightened the metal in the room rattled began to rattle in agreement matching his mood in its tension. "Be Silent!" He griowls out in a voice used to being obeyed. "This Pratteling is getting us no where!" He barks out. "My people... Our people are being held! Being Tortured! Who knows what their captors may subject them to." He stabs a finger accusingly at the map, the pin holding it up creaking deeper into the wall. "Either listen to those in command and be useful to the Cause or get out of the way." He speaks with a deep anger in his voice. "Otherwise you are nothing but a liability." "Raven I am here for one reason and one reason only. My motivation is simple, straightforward and known to everyone in this room with eyes to see and the common sense to understand that not everyone is duplicitous all the time." He looks sideways "Storm, We should move out as soon as possible." he says before turning his back on Mystique, dismissing her from his vision and from his mind, let McCoy deal with her.

I bristled when Magneto directly addressed me, but I didn’t take the bait. I didn’t even look his way. His words and mannerisms toward me just fortified my feelings against him even more. There was no going back to the way things were before, and a big part of me was glad he realized that, because I was determined to burn those bridges and pay penance for the pawn I used to be in his chess-game.
On a whim I aimed a simple, clear thought at Lacy, curious to note whether she’d receive something directed at her from someone with zero telepathic ability such as myself: <I hate that man…> Something else occurred to me – “Are you able to communicate telepathically in both directions with someone who doesn’t have their own telepathy powers, Miss Lacy? If so, I elect to put you in charge of covert communications once we infiltrate the complex. Either Shade by himself, or as a group if his powers permit. With your combined powers, we’ll have an excellent extraction team – I personally can hardly wait to get started!”
With that, I turned to Beast; “To the Blackbird then, right? Or is our target close enough to travel by road?” I was ready to follow as soon as Beast made a move.
I couldn’t help wondering how Storm would react to Magneto ordering her about on her own premises, even presuming she agreed his order was the correct course of action, I didn’t figure her for a pushover, and I very-much looked forward to her putting Eric in his place, sooner or later. That thought cheered me up somewhat.
OOC: <Between these indicators denotes directed thought communication rather than actual speech, even though Mystique has no telepathy of her own. It's up to Lacy/Kulvar whether it works as intended, as it relies entirely on how Lacy's telepathic power works.>

Shade: Shadow Dancer “We are not defined by the family into which we are born, but the one we choose and create. We are not born, we become.” "I've only ever had myself, but theoretically I suppose I could take more than one person. But..it affects everyone. I'd likely be the only one able to see, unless you all have some sort of night vision available to you."He blinked behind the goggles at the outbursts. Too many egos in one room, and his eyes narrowed. "When you are both quite finished with this...rivalry that is getting us precisely nowhere, could we get to actually working on a solution to the problem.
"Hate each other on your own time. As it stands, there are people--actual people--being experimented on in some hidden facility. People like me. And Devon. And Priya, and I would perhaps appreciate it if we could put our egos aside, and fix the problem."It was one of those rare times 'Shade' showed his true colors and channeled the boy he used to be. Tyler Michaels. Heir to a Fortune and a Title and a great many things. The boy who was legally dead, and now lived as Shade. The Shadow Dancer. He could care less about the 'history' that these had between them. What was important was getting those people--mutant, human, whatever--away from those who'd taken them against their will. No more. No less.

Alexander Summers “Havoc”: The Fallen Summers Boy “The Brotherhood is not about senseless killing. It is about assuring that mutants will live in peace. With themselves, with each other, and amongst humans” He was smirking by the end of all of this. Raven had always had her issues. Severe emotional problems, self-image issues; the list was a mile long. Alexander didn’t care and then, well Mags let her have it and that was amazing. “I’m with Shade, let’s go.”Devon: Wounded Healer “Something happens when I heal someone. I heal people so that maybe one of the injuries'll be something I can't come back from...” Devon held up a hand. “Before we move on I just want to clear up something…” She pointed herself. “Devon. Not healer. Not girl. Not girlie. Devon… Until I figure out something is better.”She paused, glancing at Magento and then at Raven. Devon looked at Mystique for a long time, studying her. So this had been Magento’s second? Her? This woman?... Devon didn’t know her story and she wasn’t one to judge but based on what she had seen thus far this wasn’t impressed by Raven. How could she ever have hoped to help anyone when she was so focused on her own personal gain? “My healing power is more than just absorbing damage… I can see old wounds… You were punctured by three small swords very close together here.” Devon pointed her Raven’s midsection. “It’s healed but there’s scar tissue. I can heal that… or I can make it worse. Without training and knowledge of the cure’s mechanics I could kill you as easily as I could remove the cure from you. Even then I doubt it could remove my particular powers but without knowing anything about the cure I can’t say for certain if I could heal you or not. I can heal old wounds not things that had been done on a genetic level… ”Devon nodded when Magneto requested her but she smiled when he actually rebuked Mystique. The smile faded when Shade spoke up. She agreed with him. Besides, who was Raven to waltz in and make veiled demands of strangers? Did she think that just because they were all mutants they were reach out a helping hand for her? “Shade’s right. This isn’t about any one of us in this room. It’s about saving people in trouble. If you want to help? Shut up and help. If you don’t want to help? Get the hell out of our way.”Ororo Munroe “Storm”: The Weather Witch “You counter despair with hope. You strive forever for the best you are capable to be. Therein lies the victory.” “My newest students have said it well,” Storm said. “We’re wasting time. Magento and I will take Devon. Beast, will have Lacey, Shade, Havoc, Logan, and Raven.”Storm looked at Mystique. “Until we are back here I want to put all of these issues between us to rest. Yes, I object to you and I do not object to Magneto. If you would like to discuss if further, fine I will explain my reasoning again. Until then, I have a duty to fulfill and you are currently wasting my time.”

I listened to Shade and smiled. I decided to keep my reply short; “Fair enough, we can work with that.” It was nice to hear him take a stand, and I respected him all the more for doing so.
I listened to Devon. This time it was a shame my blush was so well hidden – I hadn’t meant to insult or belittle her, not at all. As she mentioned the stab wounds I’d received from Wolverine, that memory resurfaced and I placed my right hand over my abdomen, shooting Logan a smile at his handiwork. – Whether he saw my smile or not was entirely beside the point.
“My apologies, Devon, I meant no offence. I’m impressed by the control you have over your abilities. I’m not holding anyone up, I’m just waiting for Beast to make a move so we can get this show on the road.” I turned to him and added “What’s the hold up, Hank?”
Storm seemed to be offering a truce, of sorts. That suited me fine. When she finished speaking, I merely nodded her direction and closed the distance between me and Beast, trying to determine what was taking him so long. The more I spoke, the more people blamed me for delaying the mission(s) when I was really doing no such thing. I agreed with Shade that we should get going ASAP, but it’s not like I was in charge of when we left the mansion or anything.
