The instructor frowns at Buckley's obvious refusal to follow authority figures; but held his tongue to avoid breaking the concentration of the the other two tributes training at the station. He also notes that Conrad strikes again; but he refrains from any corrections to Buckey and Conrad.
Vibrance scowls at Buckley; but his words obviously distract her as she misses her first thrust at the dummy. Vibrance rolled 6 dice to "Sword fighting" 3,5,2,3,3,5 (0 successes)
The instructor nods and circles around the group training at the dummies.
"You focus too much on emotion. Your strike was too quick; you didn't take the time to aim. Here."
After a quick demonstration; Vibrance was able to strike to dummy on her first thrust.
"Good. Now; we shall try sparring." The hope of trying another tribute was dashed as another instructor stepped forth, holding wooden swords. The real swords in your hands were exchanged for heavier - and more dull - wooden practice swords.
"You will train with me." He says to Buckley. "You will train with Vance. " He tells Conrad. " You will practice controlling your anger on the dummy." He states to Vibrance; who scowls.
"Stand like this," He directs you. "- and watch your opponent's eyes. You will learn to use your peripheral to watch footwork and the blade."
The instructor demonstrates his stance and the other instructor steps closer to him. The second instructor makes a thrust that you had been practicing and the first deflects.
"Lets work on deflecting." He states as he and the instructor begin to slowly thrust at your midsection; forcing you to try and deflect the sword.

"Like thiiis?" Buckley squawked, still sniggering slightly and oblivious to the short kid's bruised ego.
He swatted defensively at the Instructor's thrust, parrying in a languid, yet well-timed pimpslap motion as he fought the urge to ogle and taunt Vibrance.

"Naaaaaaaaaw. I got dis." said Bobbeh, making his accent apparent as the nonchalantly rubbed sap and dirt on his face and arms.

Conrad watched the sparring instructors with interest, turning his eyes back to Vance just in time to jump back away from being skewered by a hasty thrust in his direction.
"Jesus Christ! At me, not in me!" Conrad exclaimed. "Let me finish the training at least before you try to send me home in a box."
He recovered in time to block the second thrust from Vance, noting that the short, stocky lad with muscles seemed almost too eager to be attacking him this early on.

Camouflage Station Cypress also played at decorating an offered cap with pine needles, concentrating on how to 'break up her profile'. When she felt that she had learned enough of the needles- and had grown tired of the needles and sap sticking to her hands instead - she turned to Bobbeh.
"I'll join you at the First Aid Station," She stated. "- my aunt always goes on on how so and so would have been fine if they had learned how to bandage properly."
Her eyes turned to-wards the Sword station; where a great many people seemed to be laughing or boasting. A glimmer of interest caught in her eye.
At hearing that learning had indeed been accomplished; the station instructor provided Bobbeh and Cypress with wonderful wet cloths that cleansed their skin of paint, leaves, sap and pine needles with only a few moments work.
Sword Station
"Good," The instructor commented to Buckley. After presumably the same instruction; Vibrance attempted her deflection practice.
Vibrance rolled 9 dice to "Sword fighting (deflecting)" 4,5,3,10,1,1,1,10,8,10,2,2 (4 successes) Vibrance rolled 6 dice to "Sword fighting (deflecting)" 10,10,2,9,4,3,3,1 (3 successes)
"Now you've got it." The Instructor stated. "You two -" He indicated Buckley and Conrad. "Come over here with Instructor Rook and I. You two - " He indicated Vance and Vibrance. "- practice this on the dummies."
He and the other instructor stepped clear of the tributes for a moment; showing how to quickly slice at opponents' legs. "You want to try how not to drop your eyes." He states. "Rook & I will tell you if you do."
Buckley was paired with the main instructor; while Conrad was paired with Rook.
"Now try to make a good swipe at our legs. Don't worry about hitting us; we can take a hit from these wooden pegs." The instructor grinned.

Bobbeh shrugged. "Aight. Dunno if they'd be livin' but still sounds like good stuff to learn." He looked over at the sword station disinterestedly.

"You're not interested in swords?" Cypress guessed as she returned the paint palette and began to walk towards the First Aid station. It appeared Bobbeh and Cypress were the first arrivals.
They were handed two small medical kits containing sterile cloth 3 inches by inches, a roll of self sticking medical tape, long bandages and cleansing wipes.
"Lets say you received a cut from a sword," The red haired, slim woman began to pose a prompt to Cypress and Bobbeh. "- and you get away from your attackers for awhile. The cut is three inches long and bleeding freely."
She uses her finger to trace a cut that length on her left fore arm. "If you had this kit; what is the first thing you should do?"

Bobbeh couldn't find the words to demonstrate exactly what he wanted to say, so he kind of mimed out the steps and pointed to the equipment.

"Yes, that's the first step." The woman, who introduces herself as Rose, agrees. "Take this cleansing cloth -" She opens its packaging, revealing a wet wipe. "- and wipe your wound. It will sting, but it prevents blood poisoning." She demonstrates on her bare arm, creating a wet area on her arm.
"Then apply pressure using this sterile cloth." Rose presses the cloth to her arm; then wraps her arm in the medical tape. "This will help staunch the bleeding and prevent infection. Now, what if you don't have these things?"
She indicates the first aid bag.
Cypress frowns, considering the question. "If we found water, we could wash our arm with that. We could tear our arena outfit for a bandage."
"Right." Rose nodded. "You have to be cautious of the water, however. Remember that it can contain things that can make you sick unless you boil it or use the iodine tablets. Now, here's a sewing kit. Fairly common in the arena."
She opens a small three inch long zipper compartment; laying out a pink tuff of fabric containing two needles, two spools of thread and a small pair of scissors.
"This is also useful if you have a deep cut." She reaches over to the counter and lays down a photograph of a deep, untreated cut received from a sword. "Something like this needs to get stitches."

"Dang that's real gross." said Bobbeh in typical immature 14 year old boy style at the sight of the picture.

"That ... is pretty nasty." Cypress agrees. "Precisely what they're training to give you," Rose states, nodding at the tributes at the sword training station. She reaches down below and draws out a cloth arm with a stitched simulated gashing wound.
She hands the first one to Cypress; along with a threaded needle. The second one is handed to Bobbeh; along with a threaded needle.
Rose selects and holds another photo to you. This photo is showing someone making the first stitch in the deep gash; seemingly the same wound from the first picture.
"You want to start at the end," She explains. "- then stitch to the opposite end in x's. Practice on your cloth arm."

Cypress made her series of irregular X's across the red gash; frowning in concentration. She didn't look very happy at the results, but Rose inspected both arms with a nod. "Good." She stated; although Bobbeh's was far better. "Now we are going to work on another thing that might affect you in the arena." She reaches down and sets out a dummy on the table. This dummy has a leg that has been 'broken'. "The first thing to do is treat the infection if its an open fracture." Rose explained. "If there is blood and the skin is broken, its an open fracture. If it is closed, you don't have to use the antiseptic wipe. Now how to set a fracture..."
Rose spent several moments explaining how to grip the leg; how the bones should feel and how to firmly set the break. She also had Bobbeh and Cypress sit on the floor and feel their own legs; imagining how they might set their own broken leg. Once they were fairly certain they could tell when a arm or leg was broken and would need to be set; Rose brought out a box. The box was filled with different sized branches of wood; looking as though they had been plucked from the Forrest floor. There were also several strips of material that had been torn from something.
"This is how you should set a leg." She set two similar sized pieces of wood beside the dummies leg and used three strips of fabric to secure it. "Its still going to be very painful. If you have any pain killer; go ahead and use it.
Now do you have any questions?"

Vibrance looked annoyed to have been relegated to a dummy. She struck at the dummy's 'legs' and seemed frustrated at not snapping them immediately. Vibrance rolled 6 dice to "Sword fighting (Targeting legs)" 8,6,5,1,4,3 (1 successes)
The instructors awaited Buckley & Conrad's move.
Cypress leaned over to look at the leg. "No, I don't have any questions. " She looked over towards Bobbeh; then seemed to startle as something occurred to her. "Wait, yes I do. You mentioned what we should do if we don't have medical gear. But what about infection? We can't ward that off with bits of our outfit."
"You should head over to edible plants for more information about medicinal plants." The instructor replied. "There are plants you can find that can ward off infection."
"Good." Cypress nodded. "I think I'm going to Edible plants, Bobbeh. What about you?"

The instructor - who had assured you that he could handle himself- bit back a swear and hobbled to the side for a moment. When he stopped rubbing his shins; he stated.
"I think you have this," He states to Conrad. "May the odds be ever in your favor."
And with that ominous bid of luck; the other training stations opened up to Conrad. Glancing around; he spotted his district partner, Cypress, at the First Aid station with a husky blonde boy.

Deciding he had enough time to spare (in which he could think about his next training choice) Conrad wandered over to Cypress at the First Aid station.
"How's the training going?" he asked her, smiling in a friendly manner at the boy she was talking to. They might be pitted against each other soon, but that was no reason to start hostilities early. If anything, it would be handy to form an alliance before the Games started for real.

"Hello Conrad," Cypress replied; just as friendly to her district mate. "- I'm deciding what station to go to next. I'm thinking edible plants. The instructor here says that they can teach me medicinal plants too."
She turns and indicates Bobbeh. "This is Bobbeh. Bobbeh; this is my district partner."
She then looks behind Conrad to the sword training station. "How were the swords?"

"Plants? Could be a handy skill to possess." Conrad said diplomatically. He wasn't much of a plant person himself, but that didn't mean any less of those people who were .
"Nice to meet you." Conrad offered Bobbeh a handshake politely, contemplating the likelihood of forming an alliance with the male.
"The swords went okay I think, bar the odd moment. I'm thinking of taking the hand to hand next and then something a bit more passive to finish off." Conrad stated.

"I'm thinking about climbing ann boxin'. I figured I should do the opposite of sewing and facepaint. Good to learn different stuff." Bobbeh said dryly.

"I may try the sword station after the edible plants," Cypress mused. "-it would be good to live long enough to dig up whatever edible plants are out there."
She gives Bobbeh a glance.
"Boxing is a good idea. To get out of the Cornucopia; we're going to have to get out of our comfort zone..." The brunette surveyed the boxing station; as though perhaps reconsidering the sword training station.
"One thing I was wondering... do you guys want to work together?" She glances from Bobbeh to Conrad.

Buckley dropped his sword, refusing to continue the training.
"Nah, this is boring. I'm already king of this."
With that he strolled off to the boxing station.

At the boxing station, Buckley found two instructors demonstrating how to form up in front of two punching bags suspended from the ceiling to a tall, thin blonde boy. The greeted Buckley with a wave to step in front of the other bag.
The blonde boy followed a basic one - two punch combo that the instructor was demonstrating. The second instructor stood beside Buckley; indicating on the bag where he could focus.
"This isn't the fairest form of fighting," He started off. "- in the arena; feel free to target the vulnerable areas- throat-" a punch fairly level with Buckley's own throat was given to the bag. The instructor stepped beside Buckley; indicating he was free to begin.
"- eyes, nose, ears. Boxing the ears is a great way to disorient. Go ahead and show me what you got."

"Great," Cypress brightened. "- I think we'll have a few minutes to talk after our private sessions tonight. I'll look for both of you there."
She turned and evaluated Bobbeh's district partner, who was holding some sort of hissing black bug at the edible plant station.
"I'm going to go to edible plants..." She looked green at the very thought; but began to step away.
