Amy nodded respectfully to Riva. "Riva." She greets quietly. The girl shakes her shoulders, causing drops of water to fall. She unclasps her rain poncho and hangs it away as to not mar the table. She wears a simple white linen shirt and worn breeches the color of warm leather. Her boots are well crafted and new, the only signs of Lallek's wealth displayed. Amy was a charitable person; the one who stole out at night to give away things that Lallek's immense gift of tessarae provided for her family. Some whispered the wealth Lallek had given her wouldn't last long that way. Some wondered if she did it out of guilt that Lallek and her sister Pearl had died in that game while she survived.
"Its... my emotions have been very intense lately." The thirteen year old admitted, claiming a seat across from Riva.
"I am angry Lallek and Pearl died. I feel obligated to do something about it. Yet I am too young to volunteer and... I have Emily and Jake. They're only eleven and five. Kingston and his family were homeless orphans before he was Reaped/ Because of that; they have a lot of problems with security and abandonment. I think if I volunteer; I'd be leaving the people who need me."
The girl looked distressed.
"I need some advice. I can't ask my father. He doesn't think volunteering is a good idea. 'We already gave Pearl', he says. 'That was our part'."
Her father's words seem only to cause Amy more anguish.

Zale Sewell[/u][/color]
"Your question is 'should you volunteer'?" Zale frowned, shuffling his cards again and taking a seat. "Or is it....let me read the cards for you. A simple reading. Small. Three card. Maybe it'll help. If it doesn't, we'll move to a ten-card."
Three cards are laid on the table in front of Amy, and Zale turns the one to her far left upright.
"This portal is the portal of the past. It gives you insight into past and how it directly affects your current situation. The card is the 10 of Wands. It's a Card of Oppression. Freedom and Liberty are trapped beneath the heel of a greater force."
They all knew it was true. Thankfully, it was raining and storming and hopefully they weren't being spied upon. Besides: It was a reading. Most Peacekeepers didn't believe in this sort of thing anyway. At least, not that Zale knew of.
He turned the center card upright. "This card is the present. It represents the now. The influences at work. The card here is the Ace of Cups. Now...if it were upright, it'd be a card of Creativity and and Self Power. But it's not. It's inverse..." Zale frowned. "Which means that your cup is empty. Your self-worth is at a minimum. It's been drained."
There's a sympathetic look across the table. "You feel worthless."
Not a good way to feel.
"This is the future." Zale hesitated, and then turned the card upright and pulled it back as if his hand had been burned. "The Tower. Ambition leads to conflict and strife."
He looks across the table to Amy. "Amy...you are not worthless. Don't let the way you feel color your decision in this. Don't volunteer. Don't throw your life away.
"Your father is right. Your family has done your part. If you feel the need to prove yourself, find another way. Joining The Battle is not it."

“It is known...” Riva said. Zale was right. The future was as changeable as the tides. And it was up to Riva is she wanted to cause waves. Or was it? Riva had always known she was a tool of the One. One of his Chosen. Since the first Battle she could remember, Riva Eldyn knew she would volunteer. She just didn't know when. Until now. “Amy,” Riva said, warmly. “Zale is right. Giving yourself over to the Battle is not the way to help. Jake, Emily... They need you. Our people need you. And Lallek and Pearl feel no cause for vengeance. Revenge is a problem only the living have.
“You have your path set in front of you, Amy. The One has chosen you to be a great caregiver. And he has chosen others to be sacrifices.”There is a knowing look cast Zale's direction. Riva Eldyn would be the next female tribute from District Four.
