Aurora Nolan: Co-Victor of the 25th Hunger Games (District 7 Volunteer), “The Girl Who Dared to Hope” Rory was about to go. Overwhelmed with joy she was going to take that 10,000 credits and hope for the best. Because that all Rory had right now. Hope. Hope that she would live to see 17. Hope that Felix or Sassinak would too. Hope was going to get her through tomorrow and the next. Still, when she looked up at Conrad after reading his note, there wasn't enough hope in the world to wash away the tired look in her eyes. Jasmine wasn't here to be her rock. So this was all Rory and even she had to admit she was better fighting for her own life than she was fighting for the lives of others. Especially like this. But Felix and Sassinak needed her. Conrad needed her too. So instead of leaving, Rory stayed a moment. And studied Karriagn. “You're scared for Lacey and Cotton...” Aurora said, calmly. A simple statement to test the waters. “So long as Felix and Sassinak are alive they should have nothing to fear from Brass and the other careers.”She paused, glancing between Conrad and Karrigan. “But it's not only Brass they have to worry about. Ember, Jasper, Isolde, and Jan... Sweet Jan, my tributes were savaged by a lion only to bed down with a pack of wolves. If you can keep another secret between us, I could risk sending Felix and Sassinak a message, telling them to steer Jan's alliance away from the Jungle. Perhaps set up a non-aggression pact with my district and your district, District 8.
“Wolves are cunning, Karrigan. But they are loyal and for now they have loyalty to District 7 and if Felix or Sassinak tells them that Lacey and Cotton are too much of a threat that may be enough to get the wolves off their trail. That only happens if Felix and Sassinak survive this encounter with the Careers. And if they prove to the Wolf Pack that are still worth something to them.
“I know it's a lot of ifs but you have to have a little faith and hope for the best. That's what got me through my games. I don't know... Just a thought.”Rory Noland rolled 6 dice to "Wits+Empathy" 1,4,7,9,1,10,1 (2 successes)

" I won't lie to you; Rory, Rowan and Conrad. I fully intend to continue to support Lacey and Cotton as long as they both live. Lacey has a hell of a talent with a staff. If she's laid down Jan; she may be able to lead her alliance onto victory. It is something that I'd like to see... maybe as much as I'd like a victory for district seven. Yet I'm supporting both so that the best tribute has the tools to survive. There will be no bracelets and we have heartache in store for us, no matter what. Perhaps one of your tributes will die. One or both of eight will die. I can only hope that the victor crowned is from districts 7 or 8." Karrigan's voice is heavy. "I know the victor from eight very well. I tend to be very generous to district eight. I would suggest talking to her about your idea. If seven steers danger from eight, I would convince some of my friends to seek you out." An honest look. "I know generous friends."

Aurora Nolan: Co-Victor of the 25th Hunger Games (District 7 Volunteer), “The Girl Who Dared to Hope”
“Thank you for kind words, Karrigan. And your honesty.” Aurora said with a nod. “Now I really must be going, thank you again.”
She walked out after shaking the sponsor's hand. It was a firm shake but the exhaustion in Rory's hazel-green eyes is visible. She looks older than her 16 years, but only in those eyes; those eyes that had seen too much, too young.
Her lip started to tremble and it took everything Rory had not to run out of that backroom. No, instead she calmly walked out and when she was away from the room and any prying eyes, Rory leaned up against a wall and sobbed, silently.
She blamed herself for everything that had happen thus far. There were times where she wished she didn't survive her games, that the Avenged had killed her, like now. But soon she'd just tell herself she was being stupid, that she was tired. Both were true. However, little Rory knew there was something more to it. Something she couldn't even begin to admit to herself.
Rory composed herself and went to met up with Tank at Kelso's shop.
“Hello?... Is there anyone here?” she asked. “My name is Aurora Noland, I'm looking for a man by the name of Kelso.”

Karrigan simply nodded as Rory excused herself. The sponsor rose and headed out of the room, hanging her generous donation on the wall. Rowan and Conrad could clearly see that she wrote a donation for another 2,500 credits to district eight and a donation of 1,000 credits to district three. That could only be intended for Lacey's district mate, the fragile but gifted with computers Bailey.
Rowan said to Conrad: 'I'm going to watch the boards. We need to see whose getting more donations - and more gear - that could rival seven. Two and One are clearly raking it in. Karrigan's supporting eight a great deal and three to a lesser extent. I'm going to go and look for district 8's mentor. Want me to call you and Rory when I find her?"

Conrad nodded. "Do it. See if you can get my father or Apple to get down here and lend a hand in manning the District's table. Hopefully we can get a few more sponsors in the meantime."

Rowan nodded. "You got it. What will you be doing?"
Meanwhile, new footage played on the screens.
"Cat got your tongue? " Glory asked Brass. The others crouched inside the horn and Victoria collected two cans of chicken and rice and the cooking set. She used the small portable stove to heat up the soup; passing it around to the group. The carers ate well and drank thier fill. Victoria filled a bowl and announced that she was going to relieve Bogart.
Bogart joined the group at the horn, eating his share of dinner heartily. He glanced at the quiet Brass with curiousity.
"We going after the Littles?"
"Think we'll venture into the Jungle." Glory announced. "You want to go?"
"Of course." Quick, eager. Glory smiled, looking over to Eclypse. "Go and get Victoria. Remember to be smart about it." That was her own private joke and she laughed a little.
"Brass, I'm taking a pair of goggles and lying on top of the horn. I can hear you if you feel like talking. I'll be able to see the others if they come this way."
Eclypse and Bogart went to go collect Victoria. Armed to the teeth, they entered the Jungle. Glory took a bow and a quiver - her sword and knives still strapped to her body - and laid atop of the horn, standing guard. She looked prepared and formidible.
The cameras cut to the jungle. Savannah was leading Marsh along the jungle, moving carefully and quietly. Savannah had set a snare along a game path and was searching for another good place for a second one. The two had paused for a drink when a snapping sound made Savannah jerk. The two glanced around warily. Savannah gripped the old growth tree behind them and vaulted upwards. Savannah rolled 7 dice to "climbing tree" 8,6,8,3,5,6,10,9 (4 successes)
The heavier brother squatted on the ground, watching the jungle. The sounds were approaching. The spectactors watched as the three careers moved with a purpose, rapidly closing the space between them and Savannah and Marsh. Savannah tied the end of a rope securely around a branch and dropped it down to her brother. He attempted to climb, but had less experience than his nimble sister. The careers broke onto the scene with a whoop.
Marsh quit the rope and crashed through the jungle, knowing when he was on the losing end of a fight. Savannah drew up the rope, using it to swing after her brother. Bogart collided with Marsh, bringing him down onto the jungle floor. The little tribute in the trees unleashed her throwing dart and it sank into the meat of Bogart's shoulder. He bellowed and Marsh took advantage.
Savannah rolled 7 dice to "Throwing knives [Bogart]" 5,10,8,5,3,7,4,10,8 (4 successes) Marsh rolled 7 dice to "Brawling with Bogart" 10,7,4,10,6,1,7,9,3 (3 successes)
Bogart went down in a heap and Marsh disengaged, once again running off into the jungle. Savannah surveyed the careers below, noting how Victoria inspected the dart that she plucked from Bogart. The girl crouched low to the tree, holding her breath. The careers spread out, checking behind tree trunks. Savannah longed to join her brother, but steeled herself to remain still. She prayed that he would find a place to hide.
Glory rolled 5 dice to "Perception" 7,9,2,10,1,5 (2 successes) Savannah rolled 6 dice to "Hiding in the tree" 8,5,5,2,10,9,6 (3 successes)
After several moments, the careers trudged beneath Savannah, heading back to the horn. Savannah peeked down below, waiting until the careers were out of sight. She counted to sixty and scurried down the tree, hurrying in the direction that her brother had gone. Savannah came onto a wiggling, writhing form suspended above her, dangling from a tree. With shock, she realized Marsh had been caught in a trap...

The action continued at two more screens went live.
The First Monitor - Lacey, Cotton, & Bailey
In the Watchtower what remained of Lacey’s alliance was safe. Bailey had informed her that there was no way inside. They were secure at least for tonight. They each drank from their waterskins, their throats dry from all of the running. And they waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Nothing happened; the noises were the rain and the rumbling of their stomachs.
“We should heal you up Lacey…” Bailey finally, said. “That cut doesn’t look like it’s getting any better.”
Lacey nodded. “We’ll have to clean it first, do either of you know how any medicine?”
The other two shook their heads and their leader sighed. While Lacey thought of what to do next, it was Bailey this time that spoke up.
“I could clean the wound if you tell me what I have to do… Cotton… I think he can sew up the gash,” she suggested.
Lacey held a hand to her cheek and slowly she nodded. Her eyes drown in doubt. But she agreed and began to walk Bailey through what she was going to need to do to clean the wound.
“I won’t be able to talk during it,” Lacey said. “And without painkillers it’ll hurt. No matter what I do, don’t stop cleaning it.”
She explained to Cotton how to stitch her up, using their shared experience living in District 8.
“It’s just like stitching up a rip in your clothes. Just be careful and don’t go too deep,” Lacey told Cotton. And he nodded.
What followed was the worst hour of Lacey’s life. Bailey was able to clean the wound without hurting her alliance mate in the process. But it was Cotton’s nervous hands that sent deep bolts of pain shooting through Lacey jaw with every flick of his wrist.
As Bailey and Cotton bandaged Lacey’s face, Cotton was all apologies.
“I’m sorry,” he said.
“It’s okay. You did fine.”
It was true but if Lacey survived, she’d have one hell of a scar.
“We all need to sleep,” Lacey said, ignoring her stomach.
“We need to eat too,” Cotton countered.
“Hey… Look,” Bailey pointed to the security monitor showing the careers moving away from the factory. “I thought 9 and 12 were with the careers. Didn't they attack you and Roger”
“Yes,” Lacey admitted. “But only after we attacked them.”
“And they killed Roger,” Cotton said.
“Two careers killed Roger,” Lacey replied. “I'm just saying don’t you think it’s odd that they haven’t killed or at least tried to kill the others inside?”
“Maybe they are waiting to take them by surprise,” Cotton threw out there.
“That doesn’t make sense either,” this from Bailey. “If they were like the Careers they would have gone after us. They didn’t. They let us run away.”
“They didn’t let us do anything,” Cotton said, heatedly.
“Hear me out, Cotton,” Bailey pleaded. “They could have run after us. Like that career did with the kids from district seven. I’m just saying maybe they aren’t all that bad. Roger said the girl from twelve was kinda funny. ‘Scary but funny.’”
“What are you suggesting, Bailey?” Lacey asked, actually curious.
“I dunno… It’s just that factory is big and there’s already nine tributes in there…” the girl from district three trailed off.
“Big alliance take two?” Lacey asked.
Bailey shrugged. “We don’t have any food. We’ll drink the rest of the water tonight. And we need to eat. In a few hours we’ll start getting weaker.”
Cotton’s eyes widened. “You want to move tonight?! Are you crazy?”
“Well maybe not right now. But closer to dawn. I dunno… It’s just a thought,” Bailey said.
Lacey nodded. “We'll talk about it later. Right now we need to sleep. Cotton you take first watch, then Bailey you take the second and we'll move just before my watch is over. If we decide to do that.”
The Second Monitor - Galen
In the Jungle, just below the Watchtower, little feet move slowly through the trees. Galen stopped by one, seeing something there that most would miss or rather disregard.
A vibrantly colored frog. The marking suggest that it’s not deadly. But whoever came in contact with its sick would take to have wild hallucinations. She used one of her jars to carefully collect it. And a spider nearby. Each had found a home in one of her jars. Galen placed it inside her backpack and kept moving on, clearly looking for a river that would lead her toward a large standing water source.

"Should we have left them? Brass had a point. We could have helped more with the planning." "We could have. But I was bored." Victoria replied. "Anything with burning in it I'm not interested in. Now I have two ideas.. we hide in these trees and take out anything thats not a career that enters the city... or we go further in and hunt down the other five that are still in there." "I say we find a good spot to hole up. Night is never a good time. Mutts galore." Was Eclypse's reply. Silence fell over the two as they entered the ruined city. Tall jungle plants rose around them; broken cobble stones made treacherous footing. Eclypse fell twice; but Victoria paused so that he could catch up. At the Sponsors' Hall; the camera panned out to reveal that the two careers were a mere thirty feet from a rushing river. Lacey, Cotton and Bailey crouched at the river; drinking thier fill and filling thier skins. Lacey had filled her skin to the brink and had taken position standing on a taller rock; staff held in her hand. Cotton and Bailey were washing themselves briskly when they trio heard a crack. Bailey Perception rolled 5 dice to " Perception " 1,4,6,9,8 (2 successes) Cotton rolled 6 dice to " Perception " 2,4,10,5,2,4,10,3 (2 successes) Lacey rolled 6 dice to "Perception" 4,8,3,1,1,8 (2 successes) The three turned and surveyed the jungle area in alarm. Besides the trunks of thin, curved trees; there were only three large boulders in the area. Cotton squinted at the trees and waded into the water; sinking down so that the brook lapped over his head. Bailey slipped in beside Lacey, who put a protective arm over the girl's shoulder. She pressed Bailey flat against the ground and crouched close to the rock, quickly concealing the staff with a nearby vine. Victoria and Eclypse walked out onto the river bank; turning to look up and down the twisting, babbling river. As they did so; the camera centered on something black above Eclypse's head; resting in the tree above him. A paw. The camera panned out to reveal the sleek, feline shape of a black animal moments before it launced down below onto Eclypse's shoulders. Victoria spun about; her muscular arm shooting out to lock around the big cat's neck just as its jaws were lowering towards Eclypse's neck. Victoria threw the big cat off; flinging it into the jungle. "Out from the tree." Victoria grabbed Eclypse's hand; hauling him beside the rock face. Mere feet away; Bailey and Lacey held thier breath. The panther yowled; a sound that echoed through the city and out towards the factory. "Back to back. Get your sword up." Victoria hissed; taking position that faced the tree. Eclypse complied silently, looking above warily. The cat darted in from around the side of a silver tree trunk; its mouth open as it lunged for Victoria. The blade sliced forward; catching the panther across the front paw. The cat yowled as Victoria danced in behind him; throwing her arm across the cat's throat. The cat rolled back and darted around Eclypse; latching its jaw onto Eclypse's elbow. Eclypse spun his blade; using the cats' forward momentum to drive the blade towards the cat's chest. There was a promising yowl and Victoria dropped to the side of the river; scooping up a rock in her hand. She moved forward as the cat lunged for Eclypse's neck; driving him to fall to his back. Victoria smashed her prize; a rock; into the beast's head. The beast collapsed in a bleeding mess and Eclypse kicked the animal off of him; swearing as he observed the bite on his arm. The trio behind the careers skunk off into the forrest as Victoria evaluated the trees overhead. Victoria rolled 12 dice to "Hauling the big cat off" 2,9,3,2,3,5,1,5,3,9,10,6,4 (3 successes)Panther Mutation rolled 2 dice to "Attacking Victoria" 2,1 (0 successes) Eclypse rolled 8 dice to "Cutting Panther's front leg" 3,7,4,3,9,9,8,7 (3 successes) Victoria rolled 12 dice to "Clothes-lining Panther" 4,9,5,5,10,7,9,5,8,2,7,8,3 (5 successes) Panther Mutation rolled 5 dice to "Biting Eclypse" 3,2,8,8,4 (2 successes) Eclypse rolled 4 dice to "Cut to the chest (called shot)" 9,1,10,8,3 (3 successes) Panther Mutation rolled 5 dice to "Biting Eclypse" 5,9,1,9,3 (2 successes) Victoria rolled 7 dice to "Brutally smashing in head" 7,6,7,9,3,10,5,1 (2 successes)
