"Thank you for coming." Karrigan and Diadem spoke in near unison.
The table was a massive round oak table with chairs spread out evenly. Several pads of paper and pens were upon it.
"We thought it prudent to discuss the rule change," Bronze explained. "- its an opportunity for every one in this room."
"Where is District eleven? Or twelve?" Hyperion inquired.
"They can be invited." Bronze stated neutrally. "Once we have decided what we want to do. We have a unique opportunity here. Naturally, all of us what our tributes to come home; but we have only one - and only one of each original alliance. So thats 1, 2, 4, 11 and 12 for us. Naturally we were hoping to hammer out an agreement with you."
"Not that we could discount all that Sam, Iris, Ashlyn and Brad have done for the alliance." Karrigan broke in. "But if we're still considering them. We could just instill an old fashioned Battle Royale and see who is victorious. It'd likely exalt our alliance... but we were curious about this Big Alliance. Do you think it would hold? Do you think it will break once they are under open sky? The exit is right in front of them, complete with door knob. They have only to walk through."
"But we'd most certainly send messages through the mentor chute first." Bronze stated.

"I thought we were going to decide on an alliance." Bronze stated, glancing at the district four mentors.
"Our tribute asked a question. Were we supposed to ignore him?" Hyperion inquired, tartly.
"Its not like every one's talking at once."
"Hyperion, I think we should talk." Brass stated. "Our tributes already have a rapport-"
"And their honor." Silver harrumphed from the door. "And a fat lot of absolutely zero kills. Yes, let four and six run off together. Then maybe our careers can take care of the rest."
"Four has done a lot of good-" "Four has tributes to hunt, yes?" Silver mocked Zale's dialect. He dropped the accent and spoke normally. "Funny, I haven't seen any dead tributes. You ought to cut them free." He spoke to district one and two mentors, pointing to the district four mentors.
"If they want to play at weddings with six, thats fine. Lets win the Games."
"You weren't invited." Bronze sniffed, offended. "Oh yes, I've been very naughty. I kidnapped someone in order to provoke violence. In a Hunger Games, who would have thought!"
Silver laughed.
"I don't need to remind any one that no one said we couldn't do just that."
"Oh yes, Old Man, please tell us yet again how many people you killed." Jasper covered his face with his hands, affecting boredom. "Maybe you haven't realized people like weddings, especially people with lots of disposable income - like little girls spending daddy's money. Yes, kick out his kids,"
Jasper spoke to the career mentors. "- and throw in with six. Our kids actually have a story line people want to listen to."
"Zale and Riva aren't just talking a big game." Coraline spoke in a measured voice. Hyperion stared boldly at Silver, angrily. "They've demonstrated leadership skills and a highly adaptive survival -"
"Just no killing fire." Silver smirked. "Lets watch them kill a fish, it would be fun" Silver shook his head. "I'm going to go talk to the hardcore Games enthusiasts, the ones who like blood. I bet I'll have them seeing four my way in half an hour. Unless you want to deal."
The threat was naked. "Balls to your enthusiasts." Apple rolled her eyes. "Coraline, Hyperion - you have a point. Six and Four have a friendship. Also a non aggression pact."
"Six has one with eleven, too." Someone mentions.
"And Sevens been an ever present help to six. If that note was about changing alliances, maybe you could send another one about how loyal seven is."
"We aren't discussing what was in Zale's note." Coraline replied. "But what can six and seven offer us for an alliance? Loyalty? I do appreciate loyalty."
"But this is the Games and we have many tributes between our children and the way home." Hyperion stated solemnly.
"Now I like Olivia and Caleb just fine, but are they capable of living outside of themselves in order to face a threat?" Hyperion asked Brass and Jasper.
A glance to the district seven mentors. "Pan's starting to sound a little paranoid, but he sure is aware that the alliance is ended. Can he help four deal with their enemies?"

"I just want you to know this: if I ever get the chance to betray you, I will. If the opportunity arises to pay you back, I'll take it. You'll never be able to trust me.” Was it just him, or was Silver sounding like a whiny b!tch? Jan let his eyes flicker around the room at the whole slew of Mentors. District Four had every reason to leave that alliance right now, and Silver wasn't helping. Especially with that whole mocking of their dialect. That was sort of nasty and childish, and really, that was Jan's spiel. Not the so-Called exalted 'First Victor'. "I wouldn't go so far as to blame Zale and Riven for treating this whole thing like a strategic game of chess. They all fell into that cavern together, and they had no idea what they would face. The more people they had, the better, and turning that place into a Second BloodBath had 'District Ten Victor' written all over it.
"Let's just say--Hypothetically and in a storybook universe--, that they they decided to take a page out of the Big Book of How To Be a Bloodthirsty Psychopath and kill the entire "Big Alliance'--I'm being generous as hell here, so bear with me.
"Let's say they get injured...moderately, and three of themget bitten by those snakes and poisoned hardcore. They then go into the next room, and they're facing down those four lizards. Four. With say...three of them poisoned and the rest somewhat injured? That spells a lot of Death By Mutt and not many survivors--none of whom are medically focused--to fend off those two utterly untouched District Ten kids.Jan let that sink in before he continued. If they hadn't played that whole situation as smart as they had, they might all have dead Tributes right now. Silver was just a bloodthirsty monster to not see it, and if Jan had any respect left for the man after what he'd just pulled in the Arena--not bloody likely--he lost it when he realized the man was just plain stupid to not see what those two kids from One and Four were up to. "I think Zale and Riven making that temporary alliance until they got out of that mess as pretty damned smart strategy. They couldn't have foreseen that they'd get separated at this juncture, and I'll bet now Zale is trying to weigh his options. Especially considering he's heavily outnumbered without Diedre, Timour, and Riven." Jan raised his eyebrows at Hyperion, Coraline, and Nettle. "My Isaac is a prodigy with that Spear, and Psyche is hellfire in a teeny-tiny package. Add to that The Lumberjack pair, Liv and Caleb, and the rest of our little mishmash of talent, and the fact that not a single one of them have any real need or reason to kill Zale and Riva right now, seeing as they were originally of the Career Alliance, and thus not truly a danger?"Jan blinked once, slowly, and let a grin slip onto his face. "Everyone loves a love story, and those same people love a Warrior-Priest-White Knight in Shining Armor. I've got my own little cadre of people who eat that sh!t up, and little girls spending Daddy's money are still spending money.
It doesn't much matter who's purse it comes out of or how one manages to get it: Coin is coin. It all spends the same regardless of where you find it or how dirty it is.
"....Just sayin'."2013-10-05 15:55:31 [HG26] Jan Colton rolled 14 dice to "Persuasion + Manipulation + Specialty + Striking Looks + Willpower" 9,9,4,1,4,1,6,10,8,7,5,5,4,1,9 (5 successes)

"No ones saying that Zale and Riven acted inappropriately, Zale." Jasper broke in. "Well, one person is. But the thing I want to know is, do you think your prodigy, your hellfire - is safe with Zale & Riven's alliance? After all, it takes one survivor from each original alliance. If say - Riven killed 3/4 of the Big Alliance, she'd only need one of the Big Alliance to survive and two tributes could go home. I'm surprised no one's been more aggressive, to be honest."
"There have been only three deaths." Rowan nodded. "And if two can go home, that means that there are nineteen to go... unfortunately. You can't honestly say no one's been aggressive. There was the Roc fight, the Doppelganger fight, the cavern -"
"-in which every one said they would ally for the cavern and then break under the open sky." Silver broke in. "- they've been under the sky for twenty minutes now and not one of them has attacked the other. We may have to work alliances based on who can survive the mutts the longest."
Apple glanced at Silver suspiciously. Silver's tone was calm and even, not the rage and incredulity that normally accompanied him.
"Jan, you like the love story and the Warrior Priest/ White knight angle?" Apple inquired. "Perhaps we should talk about District Four, District Six and District 7's angle." Apple proposed, looking over to the districts that she named.
"What is District 9's angle?" Karrigan inquired of Jan.
"District Four will meet with District Six and Seven." Hyperion stated after a quick conference with his two district mates. "And District 9, if they wish."
"District Four isn't interested in remaining allied with One and Two?" Bronze stated, glancing at the district four mentors.
Apple glanced at her silent co - mentors, eyebrows raised.
Lorne and Jasper bowed thier heads together for a moment and Lorne passed Jasper a note. Jasper read it and glanced towards Jan and Lyme. Jasper immediately turned towards Bronze and mentioned: "District one values our tributes and thier contributions to the love angle. Its clear that its going to be an attention getter. Perhaps you could get a note to Riven on thier importance - and the importance of meeting up with six."
"Perhaps I could." Bronze allowed vaguely. "What assurances do I have that Six won't betray Riven first? Caleb and Olivia seem very fond of Zale."
"They aren't cold blooded-" "I just saw Caleb shoot a girl in the throat." Bronze shook his head. "Talk it over. Get back to us. I'd like to see something declared before all of Panem towards Riven before I make a final decision."
Bronze and the district one mentors stood, moving to the door and collecting Karrigan en route. It looked like some of the mentors were ready to move off to private meetings. District Four stood and Bronze stepped in front of Coraline, handing her a small slip of paper. It vanished up Coraline's sleeve as the three district four mentors made to leave.
