The wedding ceremony was carried out without a hitch. There was no peep from the mutations that lived in the treeline between the beach and the cornucopia. As the couple was celebrating thier first few moments as man and wife, a cannon sounded from the island that districts five, eight. nine and ten had rowed to. It became clear that this alliance was left in peace because something was happening elsewhere. Four hours ticked by as Zale, Riva, Olivia, Caleb, Pan and Willow celebrated on the beach.
A girl's scream carried faintly over the water. A roaring sound began quietly - but quickly began the sound of roaring water. Looking out over the ocean, you see a tall wave - it must be fifteen feet - gaining on your beach. A smaller wave was behind it, a third wave behind that. A wave train. The waves gained height as they approached the beach. CRACK! sounded from the treeline, so deep it seemed to reverberate in your bones. A crashing sound followed; the sound of trees falling. Birds took wing, screaming in fright and heading inland towards the Cornucopia.
An eight person raft lands on the peach in front of district 6. You have only seconds before the waves are upon you. What do you do? What do you grab? You can grab one weapon and one item - those items worn on your belt stay securely with you.
The first wave hits the beach with tremendous force. Salt water rains down on you, drenching you to the core. The second hits and washes up further than the first wave, carrying away a wooden shelter. When the third wave hits, you are glad that you are in the raft. The world turns blue and green as you spin crazily in tight circles, over your camp. Debris floats by you and trees are upended. You row quickly to avoid the outstretched limbs piercing your inflatable raft.
The water screams around you as you are lifted high up into the air, riding a fourth wave. You see another raft in the valley of a wave, manned by only three people. When the wave sends you down, you realize that your beach is completely submerged. Slowly the water calms and you get your bearings. The Cliffs - The Beach - and Cornucopia have jutted higher above the water and can be rowed to. In the distance, you see the high peak of an island. The second island has vanished. Closer inspection of the Beach reveals that the treeline has been crushed flat, a dark abyss of splintered trees. All shelters and items left on the beach are washed away.
"Hello, tributes. Congratulations on surviving the Flood. As many of your shelters and gathering places have been eradicated, we will be hosting a Feast in one hour at the Cornucopia. We plan on being generous hosts."
Where do you go?

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.” She was staring at her ring. Mrs. Olivia Hunnington. It had a nice ring to it. She was smiling despite herself. She knew that this peaceful picture was going to be shattered at any moment. But that didn't stop her of asking Zale and Riva to keep watch while she had a moment alone with her husband. Her hand still throb where she was cut but that had been worth it too. They were joined by water, by earth, by blood, and by... That wasn't important. She came out of their tent, zipping up her jacket, with a lazy smile on her face. She took a drink of water and eat two bananas, an apple granola bar, and two cookies. “Zale, I'll take---” The sound of a girl's screams stopped her in her tracks. The raft was a gift from the One and grabbed her whip and doctor's bag. “Everyone get to the raft! Caleb! Caleb! To the raft!”

Zale Sewell; District 4's Male Warrior for The Battle: The Fortuneteller's Son "Danger is very real, but fear? Fear is a choice." "What is dead may never die." Zale had started packing things up. The good barbed spear was strapped to his back, and he'd managed to get one of his packs on his shoulders when he heard it. One wave. Two. The cracking of trees, and his eyes met Riva's wide one's from where they were both gathering things. They both knew what that sound meant. It meant they needed to run. "Olivia! Caleb!" He saw the girl come out of tent, and then the raft fall in front of her. ]"Olivia. In the raft. Now. Pan and Willow! Go!"Zale grabbed Olivia's arm and helped her into the thing before he stepped into it, waiting for Pan, and then Willow, and then Riva and Caleb to follow suit. He wished he could hear over the flooding and the cracking of trees and the utter destruction of everything the cannons. It was all he wished he could hear so that he would know. He would know how many stood between Olivia and her safety. But that was impossible. They were flipped and spun and were barely able to keep upright. It was loud and turbulent and he was too busy trying to keep everyone alive to listen. And when it was over, the announcement came and he looked to the others. "We've lost nearly everything, and we need water. I think we have no choice." They had to go to The Feast.

"Yes. We must go. It is known," Riva stated. "The others should be in the same situation that we are.""Yes, we have to." Pan sighed. "Although I'd rather not. I only heard one cannon."Please roll initiative for who arrives at the Feast first
The Feast was to be conducted at the horn, which glimmered and dripped with water. The sand had been packed down hard and was moist. The first look showed that two rafts had been tied off by the water's edge. Riven, Diedre, Timour, Ashlyn, Brad, Iris and Sam stood at the waters edge, conversing. On Liv, Zale & Caleb's side, two rafts pulled up. Star and Titan evaluated the field, speaking quietly amongst themselves. The tributes of Districts 8 and 9 stepped out of the raft and openly evaluated the Feast. It would be a full house, it seemed... Only Star, Titan, Psyche, Isaac, Dupioni and Theo waved to Liv. Over the flat killing ground, Diedre and Riven lifted a hand towards your group; but they were too far to read their expressions. Theo - holding a spear - and Dupioni holding two knives- approach. "I remember what happened to Eight at the last Games. Alliances are great for awhile - but I'll be the one to end it with a blade this time." It was Dupioni's voice as she strode towards you. Willow smiles and step towards her friend, but Theo deflects Willow's advance with a strong arm. "Du-" Willow protests, but Dupioni explodes forward with a skill that she had not revealed. She cuts twice in quick succession; a blade to Caleb's arm and one deep stab into Caleb's collarbone. She retracts her blades and steps back. Theo the brawler extends his arm, hurling the spear forward. It lodges into Caleb's neck and the new groom falls backwards. Dupioni rolled 5 dice to "Attacking (Deflect and Thrust on opponent with 3 def)[10-3-2]" 5,10,3,1,8,8 (3 successes)
Round Two Dupioni rolled 7 dice to "Attacking opponent with 3 def [10 - 3]" 10,3,10,9,8,1,7,10,8,9 (7 successes) Theodore Thread rolled 7 dice to "Throwing spear [Caleb's neck][12-5]" 9,8,3,4,8,3,4 (3 successes)

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.” She was shivering...
It wasn't because the cold. That cold November wind that normally sliced right through a person just didn't matter. She couldn't feel anything. She was just numb.
Her mother and brothers were off collecting her fa... the body. They'd bury him as a family later. In the church among the people that knew him, respected him, and loved him. Where they could be honest and honor him the way he could have been honored.
She was alone. Crying -no- sobbing into her hands. Shivering. But not from the cold. Because she couldn't feel. She was numb. And angry. She hadn't remembered until now how angry she had been that day. With the Capitol. With the Peacekeepers. With the Resistance. With her District. With her family. With her father.
With the One.
But suddenly she was draped in warmth, like solid hands wrapped her up and promised to shelter her from the coming storm. And the numbness gave way and the anger floated off like a distance memory.
She looked up and that's when she first saw him. He had placed his ratted old jacket over her shoulders and knelt down next to her. She couldn't really make out the features of his face. He was pale, like her. Boney, but well-fed. And his hair was the color of gold. However beyond that she couldn't see him through the tears in her eyes. She could only feel him, for lack of a better word, sense his spirit. He had a kind soul.
“My name's Olivia,” she whispered.
“I'm--I'm Caleb,” he replied.
Then a man called for him and she could feel him begin to pull away, on instinct Olivia grabbed the boy's wrist.
“Don't go. Don't leave me.” she pleaded.
Caleb looked into her eyes, whatever he saw in her expression had him wrapping his arms around her. “I won't,” he told her, softly. “I promise.” She was shivering, again. And again, it wasn't because of the cold. She didn't remember rushing to Caleb's side, but she was there on her knees, trying to figure out how to help him. “Caleb!... Caleb, stay with me!” “My name is Olivia Tully. Only daughter of Jonah and Mira Tully, and sister to Paxton and Cullem Tully. And I volunteer as tribute. I volunteer in Rebecca's place.”
“"I am Caleb Hunnington. You all know me well 'nough. Son to Sophia and Kristian and brother to Rebecca and Eliza and I volunteer. Take your hand out of the bowl. Ain't a need to draw. I volunteer.” She had thrown herself into the Arena to spare him. He threw himself into the Arena to save her. It was doomed before it began. Her hands tried to put pressure on the wound to his neck. The tears in her eyes were obscuring her vision. “Caleb... Don't go... Please... Please, don't go...” Riven frowned, and then she sighed. “It is not my place… But I have held my tongue and the end is approaching rapidly.” She looked at Olivia, “The things we love destroy us every time. Remember that.” Her gaze moved to Caleb and she closed her eyes. Her eyes shot open and she exhaled slowly, shakily. “You have more to fear from each other than you have any one else in the Arena.”
“Riven, you said my grandfather was a wise man. If he was here he'd say, 'The One fashioned us for love; to love and be loved. It is our greatest strength and our greatest weakness.' My time with Caleb might be short. He might die. I might die. We both might die... But... Not knowing him, not loving him... not being able to be with him, that would have destroyed me.” [/blockquote] Riven had been right. She had destroyed Caleb. She made him fall in love with her and that love was killing him. For all of her belief, for all of the prayers... Had it all not mattered? She kept one hand on his neck and the other was sifting through her doctor's bag for something that would help Caleb. Heavenly One Above All, please don't take this one from me. Please. Take me. But not him. None of it's worth a damn thing if I don't get to keep him. Please...“You... you.. you you... you...” he hiccuped once and that seemed to clear his stutter. “I am... if we're the last ones... I am not letting you die for me... I am never... never going to kill you... never hurt you... You don't think you can't live in a world without me? Olive... I know I can't live in a world without you... I know it... you're my soulmate, my love, my darling, my..my.my everything.” “You don't get to make that choice for me, Caleb.”Liv's voice was small. She expected to be angry. But she wasn't. Which was odd, considering she was angry all of the time. But with Caleb as broken as he was she couldn't bring herself to raise her voice. Instead she cupped his face in her hands and kissed him. She kissed him like she was drowning and he was air. She kissed him like this was the last time. She kissed him like her life depended on it. “I love you, Caleb. I've loved you from my first breath, I'll love you with my last. If we're the last two, we'll make the tough choice. Even if we have to face down an army of mutts. But please don't do anything stupid. Not for me, Caleb. I could never forgive myself.”[/blockquote] He hadn't done anything stupid. Save for follow her into this godless place. Some might argue his mistake had been loving her in the first place and right now, Olivia was not in a position to argue with them. Caleb's skin was growing colder to the touch. His eyes appeared to lose focus. Like he was going into shock... He was going into shock. There was pain. Not much but she could feel it. The pain that let her know that this was new.
The pain gave way to something else. Something that Olivia shut her eyes to shield herself from.
“Hey, hey... stay with me.”
“I'm here.”
“Don't leave. Promise you won't go.”
“I won't. Never. I promise.” She had him. He was hers. It was cruel to give her a soulmate and snatch him from her. It was cruel to give her a husband and then watch him die, for her hands to be stained red with his blood, for her to have the ability to save him, but not the means. It wasn't supposed to end like this. Not like this. Olivia and Caleb were supposed to die of the ripe old age of 101, on the same day, peacefully in their sleep. They were supposed to have an army of children. Five of them. Three boys and two girls. And they'd have children. And those children would have children. And Olivia and Caleb would watch them all grow up into fine people. That's how she had planned it. “We plan. And the One laughs.” But that's not how it was turning out. [[Olivia's spending the round healing Caleb or trying too. Lemme know if you want any rolls.]]

Zale Sewell; District 4's Male Warrior for The Battle: The Fortuneteller's Son "Danger is very real, but fear? Fear is a choice." "What is dead may never die." He couldn't move fast enough. Dupioni was the closest. She'd come at Caleb with those knives, and he hadn't gotten to his spear fast enough. It was as though it was happening in slow motion and he was powerless, but as she made those cuts, he was charging at her himself. Aiming. Throwing himself into the hit even as he heard Caleb go down behind him. Even as he heard Olivia's frightened gasp and even as he felt-more-than-saw Riva move in tandem with him. He'd made a promise. And Dupioni wasn't a part of that promise. The barbed spear (+4) was thrust toward that girl, aiming for her chest and following the thrust through and somewhere he heard a nearly feral, grossly angry war-cry that echoed in what was left of the flooded Cornucopia. Somewhere, he realized that scream had come from him. Vaguely, he could feel the others. Riven. Timour. Diedre. All of them farther away, but he threw himself into that thrust and they would know why District Four were so universally respected and feared when in The Battle. This. This was what he'd been born for. This was what he'd died in the Ritual of Tlaloc for. What is dead may never die.And none of these...none of these were dead. Not yet. 2013-11-05 03:30:16 [HG27] Zale Sewell rolled 15 dice to "Spear Attack + 3" (9-again) 10,3,6,1,6,8,7,10,1,8,3,7,6,2,6,10,8,2 (6 successes)

Riva's knife sings forward, catching in Theo's ankle region. Theo sweeps forward at Zale. The boy sweeps his arms in tight around Zale's chest, entangling him in a grapple. Dupioni steps back, looking down at her chest wound. She makes a surprised laugh, with a maniac, disbelieving tone. She's hurt... yet not dead. "Damn it, Dupioni." Pan hissed. "That was cold blooded." "Tend to him and we won't attack you, Four and Olivia. " A hard look to the pair from seven. "We won't ever like to attack you, Willow and Pan. But side with them and I'll cut your arteries. I remember what happened on that Day of Peace. They all said that they'd attack each other when it was over, but it was eight who was shamed for it. Not anymore."
Her eyes burned. "Caleb and Olivia are a threat to me and mine. Zale and Riva aren't. Two of us go home and it might be Theo and Zale. Olivia and Zale..or Riva." Dupioni made a 'so - so' motion with a blood smeared hand, still holding a knife in each hand. Diedre, Riven, Timour and Sam are running full force towards the horn, holding weapons and looking unfriendly. Iris stands in place, aiming her weapon at the horn. Ashlyn and Brad walk together towards the horn. "You can't all go home. We started together, so you have to die until one of us from each alliance is left. But theres no need to make this a numbers game." Dupioni proposed. "I say we take three minutes to gather whats on the field when the items drop in. No attacking one another. Then we square off; one at a time. What say you?"Theodore Thread rolled 6 dice to "Brawling with Zale (-3) + wp" 10,9,5,8,3,4,1 (3 successes)Riva rolled 8 dice to "Throwing knives [Theodore][7 + 3- 2 mod]" 4,7,2,9,2,2,9,7 (2 successes)

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.” If he dies... she dies...Once she thought it, she knew that she meant it. Dupioni. The Day of Peace... the difference between then and now is that District Eight had fought with honor and they had been put down with honor. This? There was no honor in this. “Caleb...” Olivia's voice was barely a whisper. “You don't get to die. You hear me?” Tears ran down her face and she stroked his head, holding onto his hand. “You don't get to leave me.”

Zale Sewell; District 4's Male Warrior for The Battle: The Fortuneteller's Son "Danger is very real, but fear? Fear is a choice." "What is dead may never die." Nothing would ever be 'given'. Zale was from District Four. Where nothing was ever given. Not truly. It was earned. It was traded. But nothing-- nothing- was ever given. As those of the Old Ways--those before the Great War--would say. We are given nothing. We pay the Iron Price. We take what we want. [/blockquote] Theo made to make him prone, and Zale expected nothing to be given. The sound of the cannon had him gritting his teeth, growling and screaming through them with Theo's knee in his back. As if some seamstress' son would be able to hold him down for very long. Zale was a mother-frakking Career Tribute, and he would not be overpowered by a glorified tailor. "I do not need you to free me. I will take my freedom."Theo's knee was in his back, and so Zale rolled with it. Getting the boy off him and getting to his feet. The spear is held in a defensive position as he stood there, teeth bared and with a dare in his eyes. "Oh...her death is not mine to have. It belongs to another to take. It is known."2013-11-05 21:51:59 Zale rolled 4 dice to "Break Grapple" 1,10,4,9,9 (3 successes)

"Don't let him go." Dupioni advises Theo dryly. "I know, you have tributes to hunt. Its just a pity we'll get it all done before you. " The mostly quiet girl of days gone past seems to have been replaced with a ruthless, cold girl.
Theodore rolled 6 dice to "Brawling (forcing prone)" 1,4,3,5,10,1,7 (1 successes)
The muscular boy began to force Zale down to the ground with Theo in the power position on top. Theo remained on top of Zale, forcing him down to the ground on his back.
"I let you go, you'll stab my girl again."
Under Olivia's fingers, Caleb's body began to still. The boy's head shuddered for a terribly long moment. A cannon sounded.
CANNON!
Caleb of district six had passed over to the other side. In the same moment, Diedre and Timour turned towards towards Caleb and Olivia. They had a momentary conversation that Riven interrupted with a clear shake of her head. Diedre's shoulders slumped but they turned to the horn. The three looked to be preparing to take the horn.
With a loud trumpet trill; the barren Cornucopia had several tables raise up around the Cornucopia. The three tables in a circle around the Cornucopia had [+3] weapons, [+3] armor, shelter and food. Weapon stands inside the horn had [+4] weapons and [+4] armor and the last item was the best of all. Nineteen gallons of fresh drinking water in easy to carry jugs.

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.” The world went dark. The sun seemed to dim. She couldn't feel her heart beating anymore. Maybe she was dead too. Maybe she had died instead of Caleb and this is the way it worked. The she heard the Cannon Blast and Liv could feel again. And she felt pain. Overwheleming pain. But soon that pain gave away to something different. Something new to her. Rage. Murderous rage. Caleb for the next moments... Please, don't watch. The Doctor's bag was set down. So was her whip. She reached for a chain weapon, like the one she had been using before. And then she took off toward Dupioni. The chain slipped around her neck and Liv tightened her grip. “You want 3 minutes? Fine. I get to kill Dupioni. She doesn't get to live through this. If you want me to honor a deal, after you killed the best parts of me, that's the price. She dies. For your peace,” Liv said, looking at Theo. “Well? Because Zale's right. Her death belongs to me. It is known.”Olivia Tully rolled 14 dice to "Choke + WP" 9,10,5,5,4,6,4,1,9,9,9,8,2,2,2 (6 successes) OOC: Liv's Strength is Three. Outside Choke (●●●) Your character attempts to wrap the chain around her opponent’s neck. Roll Strength + Weaponry. The victim may attempt to free himself on his next action with a Strength + Brawl roll, which is reduced by your character’s Strength +1. This maneuver is not to cause damage or kill the opponent — this maneuver is to render him unconscious by pressing the chain against the arteries of his neck, thus halting blood flow to his brain. If your character is successful on the grapple, she can begin to choke the victim on the following turn. For every turn that the choke hold is not broken, the victim suffers an additional –1 on all rolls to resist. When your character has accumulated a number of uninterrupted turns equal to the victim’s Stamina, he falls unconscious. This maneuver, when complete, causes a single point of bashing damage to the victim. This combat maneuver is ineffective against characters who need not breathe.

"Some strength there." Theo allowed as he regained his footing. "It is the idea that she proposed." Theo nodded his head to Olivia. "Our death was always the first possibility. I shall not interfere."Theo stepped forward and scooped up his spear, stepping eight feet back from Dupioni and Olivia's battle. Dupioni gasped as the chain encircled her neck. Theo tenses, taking a step away perhaps to fight his natural response. Dupioni rolled 8 dice to "Breaking free from Liv + wp [ 10- 3 + 1]" 5,8,2,6,3,8,6,7 (2 successes)
Dupioni rolled 7 dice to "deflect + thrust [-2 - 4]" 3,4,4,9,8,5,6 (2 successes) "Whats going on?" Ashlyn and Brad walked up, both holding their [+3] weapons at the ready. "We are having a duel. 1 on 1. " Theo explained to the two newcomers. "Dupioni has killed Olivia's husband and must duel with Olivia.""I like." Ashlyn stated. She gave a quick whisper to Brad, who nodded. "I want the next one. You should talk to Riven, this sounds right up her alley."Behind Zale, Riva, Olivia, Willow, Pan, Dupioni, Theodore, Ashlyn and Brad the others were already picking over the horn. Iris and Diedre were hurrying to the horn, bows in hand.

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.” Olivia looked focused as she tightened her grip on the chain again. Nothing matter but this. “Zale if he moves...” she let the sentence fall unfinished. Zale would do what he thought was honorable and Liv would honor that quality in him. But for her, for now, things like morality didn't exist. She'd kill Dupioni even if she had to toss away the last remaining bits of her shattered soul to do it. That was the price. “He was scared in the end...” she said to no one in particular. “Scared. He shouldn't have been here. I could have survived without him here or I could have died knowing he was safe for another year. We would have been free after next year's reaping... He was going to marry after that... And we'd start a family...” And Dupioni took that away without provocation because that's what the Capitol wanted. And as Liv choked her, she wondered if she was playing into their game. Olivia Tully rolled 11 dice to "Choking Dupioni" 9,5,7,5,4,5,8,2,9,9,1 (4 successes)

Dupioni gripped the chain that was wrapped around her neck. Her finger nails were torn away as she scratched and scrabbled at the unrelenting chain. There was little for the girl to do. She had been unprepared for what she had unleashed. Dupioni rolled 5 dice to "Breaking free from Liv [7 - 3 + 1]" 5,4,8,5,4 (1 successes) "If he moves, what?" Theodore inquired. He turned his gaze to Zale, meeting his gaze. "Dupioni and I made an agreement. I was under the impression you were an honorable warrior. Although I can't recall what exactly made that impression..."
"Not much of a show," Brad remarked, turning away from the fight. He followed Riva as she walked to the gear, rattling bags. "What are you doing?" He asked Riva.
Riva gestured to Caleb. "Zale has asked that I send Caleb off in the right way. I don't suppose that you have coins?"
"No. You always do what Zale says, huh?"
Riva stared back at Brad for a moment, as though considering him. A moment later a whistle sounded and a bag dropped by Riva's leg. She opened the bag and counted, frowning somewhat.
"The Gamemakers must expect many to die." Those unrelenting eyes found Brad. The boy seemed unsettled by what he saw there. The boy scoops up a piece of neck armor and dons it. "It doesn't sound like they want to duel." Ashlyn says to Brad as she dons one herself.
Riva returns to Caleb, having found food for his journey. She places the food - a tin of cookies - at his side. She closes her eyes and prays in silence, trusting in her allies at this terrible time. When her soul felt lifted and she felt that she had done right by Caleb, she placed the coins over the boys eyes.

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.” “And you looked like you were about to take a step toward me,” Liv barked back to Theo. “He has more honor in his little finger than you district partner will ever have!”Again her grip tightened and the choke hold held firmly. Olivia Tully rolled 11 dice to "Choking Dupioni" 7,9,10,1,8,5,7,8,10,7,5,9,7 (6 successes) OOC: Dupioni's next roll is at a -6 . "For every turn that the choke hold is not broken, the victim suffers an additional –1 on all rolls to resist. When your character has accumulated a number of uninterrupted turns equal to the victim’s Stamina, he falls unconscious."

Zale Sewell; District 4's Male Warrior for The Battle: The Fortuneteller's Son "Danger is very real, but fear? Fear is a choice." "What is dead may never die." "Perhaps you were dropped on your skull as a small child. Or perhaps you do not understand proper speech." Zale's eyes narrowed. "If you move to attack Olivia, I will kill you. That is all the honor you deserve."

At Olivia's outburst, Theo merely shrugged. "My district mate is dying. My friend. I have made no move to attack you. I am merely watching her pass. I owe her that much."
The passing would come quickly. Dupioni's knees give out from under her and she pitches forward. Her color has gone from her. It shall be over in moments. These moments shall be agonizing. No one interferes. It seems no one objects to this fate.
Dupioni rolled 1 dice to "Chance die must be 10" 6 (0 successes)

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.” “It's more than she deserves,” Olivia replied, coolly. She looked up at Theo and took a deep breathe before letting it out. “I'm sorry for doubting your word.” He had to understand that Dupioni had to die. A lot of them had to die, but Dupioni was the only person here Liv wanted to kill. And that was a new feeling for her. She hated the Capitol but she never wanted to slaughter anyone before now. Olivia could feel herself slipping. And then she remembered what Zale's cards had said and her eyes drifted over to him. Was this what the cards were talking about? She shook her head and once more her grip tightened. Olivia Tully rolled 11 dice to "Choking Dupioni" 8,1,10,4,9,10,5,8,5,9,2,4,4 (6 successes)

A good deal of it.

Dupioni makes a startled squeak as the air collapses out of her lungs. Her throat is so tightly constricted that nothing comes down. The girl kicks her legs futilely as her body spasms. Her eyes are tearing up as tears streak down her dirty face. After an agonizing minute, she goes still.
Theo has been pacing at his self imposed 8 foot mark, staring at his mate. As she collapses he starts forward, before pausing.
CANNON
"I want to hold her." He states. "And I won't put down my spear to do it. I'm sorry, but you've proven you have no problem killing me. Can I approach?"
"Olivia." a female hisses over by the horn. Ashlyn and Brad can be seen whispering with Willow, Pan, Psyche and Isaac. Olivia's former alliance are staring at her, shell shocked. Psyche is pointing at Caleb's body. Tears streak down the little girl's face.

“Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.” Olivia nodded and let Dupioni's body fall. She looked up to see Ashlyn and Brad whispering with Willow, Pan, Psyche and Isaac. The look on Psyche's face broke her heart but Liv kept it together. She went to Caleb's body and sat down. “Now what do we do?”

Theo, Isaac and Psyche formed a tight circle facing outwards. As Diedre, Timour and Riven shake water from their armor, they see the three advancing on the desirable medical supplies and water. The three immediately converge on the non - careers. "Look out!"Psyche shouted as the three warriors swoop in. Dupioni slices the bare arms of Timour with a swiftly delivered knife. The large career seized Psyche's outstretched left arm and pulled her close to him. As she struggled, he locked a tight grip around her waist and threw her sideways, away from the battle. The girl landed on her stomach on the ground, frantically grappling for her knives. "Hey!" Theo shouted, pulling Timour's gaze from the sprawled and vulnerable girl. Theo charged forward with his sword, slicing through Timour's evasiveness and plunging the sword well into Timour's left arm. Riven was behind Theo before he could turn his head. The blade sliced forward, catching Theo's left arm. The boy bellowed in pain as the girl savagely pulled her sword free with a spurt of blood. ""B****!" Psyche spat, drawing her throwing knives. Diedre's sword was lowered into a parley with the girl when she paused. "You're good." Diedre stated to the four opponents. "No dren." Theo hissed painfully, his eyes going to Timour's wounds. ""Dupioni and I were going to do a dueling round, but no one on that side of the horn went for it.""You saw the last Game? The day of peace." Diedre questioned. "You think we can do that?" Isaac kept his spear pointed at Riven while Psyche hurriedly bandaged Theo's hand. "I wouldn't be adverse to it." Diedre replied. "Let us talk it over."""I think we're not giving Panem any service by making it a numbers game. You're capable warriors. Lets have a 1 on 1 duel - chosen by blind chance. Think it over and take that med kit for your friend. We'll see to ours. Let us know what you think when your friend is bandaged. And - try and catch us with our back turns and we won't be happy." Theo promised. The death of his district mate had hardened his heart. "We should talk to Liv and Zale." Psyche proposed. "You go ahead." Theo laughed. ""Zale accused me of being dropped on my head one too many times and questioned my honor, so I have no use for him." "Zale's honorable." Isaac disputed. ""Caleb and Liv felt that."""Yeah, but he seems to think he's the only one." Theo remained combative. "Zale - Liv," Psyche walked near Zale and Olivia. Both sense a certain warines in the young girl now, how she held a knife palmed in her hand. "The careers might consider a 1 on 1 duel between us. Theo's all for it - as are Isaac and I. Would you participate?" Timour rolled 4 dice to "Brawling with 3" 3,3,8,2 (1 successes) Theodore Thread rolled 8 dice to "Attacking Timour [- 3]" 7,7,9,10,9,6,10,3,9,8 (6 successes)
Riven rolled 11 dice to "14 - 3 " 2,8,10,9,9,6,6,2,9,9,6,10,2 (7 successes)

Zale Sewell; District 4's Male Warrior for The Battle: The Fortuneteller's Son "Danger is very real, but fear? Fear is a choice." "What is dead may never die." "This One accused you of nothing. This One merely asked himself a rhetorical question, trying to devise a reason for your misunderstanding." He said it off-handedly. It honestly didn't matter what Theo thought of him, in the end. He had comported himself with nothing but dignity and honor, and he was not the one who arbitrarily and without honor attacked his alliance. Say what one wanted about the "Careers', but they had yet to just attack each other like rabid animals. "Riven. Diedre. Timour. Riva. Zale." He pointed to each of them as he said it, somewhat seething though forever calm. "This one has yet to call you 'Nine' or 'Twelve' or 'Six' or 'Seven.' We would demand the same courtesy."As for that," His eyes swept to the one who had asked Riva if she 'always did what Zale says'. "We are friends. We are each other's spirit guides. We give each other strength and keep each other on the Path."And Riva understood him better than anyone he'd ever known. One of them--at the very least--would lose the other in the place, and then what would they do? It was there, suddenly, plain on his face. What would they do without each other? It was a different kind of love than what Olivia and Caleb shared. No less pure and no less real, but different. Closer than siblings and friends. Never intimate. They were both married to The One. To their Duty. To their Purpose. No one truly understood them the way they understood each other. But that was what this was: Sacrifice. That was why they were here. So that someone else didn't have to be. So that two others never knew this. So that two others could live their lives in peace. "This one will duel, but he will not duel Olivia of The Rails or Riva of The Sea. This One will not go back on his word to The Fallen Caleb, and this One will not go home as a Pariah. It is known."
