"We have had an interesting few days." Beast opened after waiting a respectful period for attendees to gather in a large class room. Beast stood at the white board holding a dry erase marker. He wore a cable sweater, slacks and prescription glasses. The glasses gave a scholarly look to the mutant. "Please make yourself comfortable. There are a few things we should bring each other up to date on first... This is what has happened over the last two days."
Beast verbally describes the situation like so: 1. An unknown science group started the 'Laboratory' and 'Rehab center'. Newly accepted characters to the RP such as Riley & Shade met Rogue, Priya, Jimmy & Sofia as fellow captives. 2. Riley & Shade received hands on information: "See? He doesn't want it.""Its important; Priya. The more powerful we are; the stronger the mutant race becomes -""But its not natural. " Priya objects. "You kidnapped us off the streets to experiment on us. Maybe I was supposed to be able to fly; but not whatever you injected me with -"- The power to be able to control electricity is a good, strong offensive power-""- but I can't control electricity-""You'll have another treatment tomorrow. Gene therapy isn't a one shot cure-" "Yes, I can. I sent it to Ryan hoping he'd be able to avoid the Raiders... There's a moments pause. As Shade waits with his eyes shut; he feels the prick of a needle piercing his tender flesh. He hears movement and the sound of an electronic zap. The sound of a girl shrieking and something hitting the floor follow. Jimmy's mental image blooms in his mind. The aerial shot is of twelve beds - five of them occupied. He sees himself with two female doctors standing beside his bed. One is injecting him with a syringe. Another is drawing blood from a female teenager in the bed beside him. A brunette wearing a silver collar with a beeping red light lays sprawled on the ground; unconscious. She was near his bed; one hand sprawled out towards himself. "They zapped Priya."Jimmy reports; angrily. There were three white boards with complicated genetics and biology charts. There were three headings above these boards [Telepathy] [Power Absorption] [Regenerative]. There was also a chart pinned to the wall with subject designations, locations, abilities... - Subject Zero Power ~ Elastic Skin Location: Rehabilitation Facility
- Subject One Power ~Electric Control Location: Rehabilitation Facility
- Subject Two Power ~ Invisibility Location: Rehabilitation Facility
- Subject Three Power ~ Super Strength, Power Absorption, Flight Location: Laboratory
- Subject Four Power ~ Telepathy Location: Laboratory
- Subject Five Power ~ Water Control Location: Laboratory
- Subject Six Power ~ Shadow Manipulation Location: Laboratory
- Subject Seven Power ~ Power Absorption Location: Laboratory
Riley was approached by a scientist and asked if she wanted to join the cause. The scientist waited for them before she continued. "The facts are these: - There is a branch of military who are abducting mutants. They have not - as far as we know - disclosed their dealings to the President or the chain of command. I believe they even attacked a school for the gifted.
- These people are not training or helping these mutants. We never see them again after their abductions. We believe that they are incarcerated, perhaps even killed.
- We are attempting to advance our own mutations to fight against this operation. We intend to use the most useful abilities and train mutants against the threat. We have a small force already."
Using the information that the captives shared, the X- Men moved to the 'Rehab Facility'. Once there, the girls attempted to use subterfuge to gain access to the captives. Surprisingly, the mutants were not being held against their will. These three willingly joined 'the Cause' of violent mutant action against the military mutant abductors (Striker's group from past movies). The military attacked at this time and the Science group ensured that the visiting mutants had a safe way out before departing in helicopters. The science group has a small armed security force, but they do not openly engage the military ops. The military ops has weaponized cure darts. "Now our situation isn't as we thought. We had expected to free three more fellows from the Rehab facility. With the military routing the Science group, we can assume that the Rehab facility is now defunct. The Science group's location - and the three mutants who have joined them - are unknown. We don't know what the scientist meant when she said that they had small force already. Is this our problem?" Beast asked, looking from face to face. "They have broken laws in abducting children and holding them against their will. They have done some sort of gene therapy. But they have informed us of a military operation abducting mutants. Logan, Mystique - an abduction attempt was made on you by the military, was it not?" Beast inquired. "I feel that I should approach Congress and share the videotapes from the 'wing. Whomever these groups are, there should be some police involved. " He glanced to the newcomers. "We took significant risk in involving you." Beast spoke sincerely to Shade, Devon and Riley. "You have not trained as we have; and there were armed men. In the future, you have my assurance that we won't risk your lives that way again. What do you want to do?"

I'd had a restless night, filled with visions of military helicopters chasing me down, normals trying to shoot me with cure-guns, this unknown science group abducting me and injecting me with something nasty, and worst of all that face again - HIS face; the betrayer known as Magneto. It'd been as if we were complete strangers - that he no-longer had any idea who I was to him. I had the distinct impression that look on his face would stay with me a LONG time, as a constant reminder to never let my guard down around him again. Today I was wearing a navy knee-length skirt and charcoal-grey halter-top I'd found in the room Beast assigned to me. I only wore those two items, nothing else as there really wasn't much point - I'd accepted my blue-scaled look many years ago and was no-longer ashamed of it like I had been in my youth. Nowadays, after all that had happened recently, I'd started to like wearing SOME physical clothing. At first I thought it was purely to spite HIM, but it'd really been more than that. For example, the way this skirt softly hugged my thighs without restricting movement gave a strange sense of security, and the sensation this top gave me when I moved certain ways… Well I'm sure that'd be too much information, so I'll leave it at that. I was currently sat cross-legged over by the classroom window listening to Beast's summary of events and glancing outside only a few times; partly to enjoy the views, but mostly to reassure myself there were no choppers headed our way to kill or abduct us - Yet. I guess that part of my bad night had subconsciously stuck in my head a little longer than usual. Glancing around, I noticed a few of the youngsters looking a little wiped; presumably following a session or two in the Danger-room. Still, it was good to get a little practise at working together, especially for the newbies to get used to the way the X-men used their powers and abilities co-operatively for mutual benefit and protection. Once they got in the right mindset on how their own abilities could best benefit all their comrades, I'm sure they would all prove most valuable assets to have on missions, even the dangerous ones. Something kept drawing my attention back to one of the whiteboard headings - [Regenerative] - The beginnings of an idea seemed to be swirling around my subconscious looking for purchase in my mind… At Hanks' mention of mine and Logan's attempted abduction I had a sudden unwelcome flashback to the day I escaped the facility that'd held me. I was about to reply but then he continued talking; I thought about this as he addressed the new-recruits, then he asked "What do you want to do?" and I was unsure if by 'you' he just meant the newbies or a general 'you' meaning everyone. Nevertheless, he had directed a previous question at me, so I decided to clear my throat and speak up: "I believe the helicopter that chased Logan, John and I was the same one that abducted Rogue, so the science group rather than their military enemy. They were probably only after one of us, but it's hard to tell who was their actual target. If we pay attention to the headings on the whiteboards we do find 'Regenerative', which to me screams 'Wolverine' as the most probable target.
Either way, they obviously have interest in acquiring one of us 3, so therein lies an opportunity for us to bait a trap for the science team, or at least arrange a dialogue with them.
We could invite Pyro to play-along, or just use the two of us as the bait, I'm game either way. I could even pretend I haven't regained my abilities yet, to give us an edge - They only saw me as myself while I was escaping that facility, it's probable they're totally unaware I regained any abilities… Though admittedly Mags was hard to miss, and if they know he regained his powers they'll also know it's possible to recover from the darts' effect.
If it comes down to the wire, I can offer to join their cause while actually going undercover for the Xmen, while Logan plays along for credibility and to start an official dialogue between our two groups. For Storm this also has the side-benefit of getting me out from under her feet and a real chance to test my loyalties in the field, if she so desires." I glanced at the Weather-Witch to gauge her reaction to my idea, then back to McCoy and the hunky Canadian. "Your thoughts, Hank? Logan?"I was thankful for my blue-scales in another way as they'd hide any blush I might get from having Wolverine's eyes on me again. [OOC:]Mystique had already left the Rehab centre before Striker's name was mentioned, so she doesn't know he's involved (unless someone mentioned it during the cut-scene?) But Shade or Lacy would've heard his name, if either of them has the presence of mind to share that intel with the group?

Shade had seen that white board.
"I'm 'Subject Six'." He elaborated, twisting a hand and making the shadows on the wall dance. It might not seem like a power that was 'useful' to most people, but Shade was well aware of what it was.
"And Power Absorbsion is up there too. Which is what Rogue can do, am I right? And why would they want 'one of you three', specifically? You aren't the only three people with those abilities. Hell...Devon can heal people and has regenerative abilities herself. Seems to me that they want someone with those abilities, and they'll take anyone they can find. If they couldn't get Wolverine? They'd get someone else. Narcissism doesn't become you. These people see us as nothing more than a means to an end. You aren't important to them. Don't think you are. You're a number and an ability. You aren't a person. They'll find another mutant who can do what you can do.
"Just like they'll probably find someone who can do what I can do seeing as they lost me."
Mystique set off all of Devon's alarms and Shade trusted Devon. She was a 'fellow lab rat'. No one knew how much that frakked a person up more than Devon. More than Magneto "They're trying to 'give us new abilities'. They injected me with a serum that they made from the genetic material from one of the other Subjects. A subject who was Telepathic." And he didn't know what it would do to him. Just that he'd been sick and Devon had taken it away.
He'd woken up this morning to another pair of jeans and a thick black sweater that fit him almost perfectly. Someone had managed a pair of boots for him as well--hiking boots that had a good tread on them, and he put them on and headed toward the kitchen where everyone was eating breakfast.
Devon had slipped her arm through his when he'd come into the room, and he'd heard a little giggling. Somewhere distant, he was aware that he was 'attractive'. The goggles he wore couldn't hide the delicacy of his face or the line of his jaw. He was svelt and somewhat pale, and for the first time in a very long time he'd sat with people his own age and ate a good breakfast while he listened to them joke and laugh around him.
At least, before it was time for their 'meeting', and he'd arrived there with Devon as well. Seemed to him--and to a lot of people--that they were becoming inseparable, which was quite alright.
Having friends was new, but it would be a good thing.
"They're making weapons. They're picking and choosing abilities that they like and injecting them into people who already have abilities they like. Like me, with my strength and my shadows, and apparently they wanted me to be a telepath too. Who knows what else they had planned for us.
"But whatever it was and whoever they are? It needs to stop by any means necessary. It's wrong."

"Shade, I believe that you won't suffer any more intense harm from the gene manipulation than you already have. Priya reported in her statement that she was injected five times - and her symptoms afterwards were flu - like. Please do let me know if you start feeling ill, again."
"Devon, I don't think that we thanked you for your aid in healing Shade." Beast turned his attention to her. "Healing others is something we haven't seen here as an ability in awhile. Its amazing...but I believe it has a cost. I'd like to discuss it with you sometime, to see how you're doing."
"Now Shade made some good points. They seem to want somebody - maybe not us specifically. They targeted teenagers on the street and hit problems when they targeted us. We can't depend on them coming after us again, not after we tracked down their location - and then it was discovered by the military branch.
Does any one have ideas on who the Branch is? Lacy, how did the scientists seem? Die hard extremists? Altruistic? If they have a mental malady where they actually think they're helping the mutant cause, I could try and convince them otherwise..."
"Thoughts? Please, lets hear all ideas. You're all involved in this."

"One in Five homeless youth--teenagers, like me--are Mutants. That's a big population." Shade bit his lip, considering. "I was one of them until I was taken. I'd hide in the sewers and other dark places to sleep during the day, and moved about the city I was in at night. Because I can't see very well in well-lit places."
Shade gestured to his eyes. In the goggles. "I know where people like me--kids like me--hide. I can go there, and warn them. If that would help."

"Why would they want one of us 3 specifically? Well, they were chasing us in a helicopter - Why would they bother doing that if they weren't after one of us 3? As for specifically singling one of us out, probably not. But they do seem to have intel on at least some of us, perhaps of known mutants with the abilities they seek? If they were after Wolverine, that would make sense. They'd be after Devon too, and anyone else who has sought-after abilities, my assumption is simply if we provide another 'easy opportunity' to nab one of their potential targets it might get their attention while allowing us control of the situation. As you say, there are plenty of other mutants with similar abilities, and they are obviously targets too. Cerebro has an extensive mutant database - Perhaps we should consult it for other potential science-team targets by cross-linking the information we've already gathered? We may be able to intervene or prevent abductions with a better idea who they're after, or at least forewarn those the Xmen have previously contacted who may be potential targets."
Apparently making friends wasn't my strong-suit. Leastways not as myself.
"Of course they will find others with similar abilities - Assuming they were even after me in the first place. As I said, there were 3 of us in the car. Gods help them if they go after Pyro when he's by himself - He has a habit of 'over-cooking' it. If you think he has no morals about burning innocent people, mutant or otherwise, you're only half-right. I've seen some of what he's capable of with no innocents around, and it's QUITE brutal. Heck, we'd probably see the fireworks from here! - I'm only half-joking."
Telepathy, eh? Well, if he does gain the ability to read my thoughts perhaps he'll cut me a little slack when he realizes I'm not actually trying to deceive anyone yet. Or, I suppose since Devon absorbed the cause of his symptoms, perhaps SHE might be the one to gain the ability instead… Or neither, I suppose.
"And what of the volunteers? If a person wishes to be experimented on, for whatever reward, should they be stopped too? Medical research on Normals has been carried out with similar process for decades, is this not similar? I don't condone what has been done against peoples' wills, so don't get me wrong on that. It's not all black-and-white, there are many shades of grey - I'm sure you can appreciate that better than most, right?" I glanced at his goggles during my last few words for emphasis.
"That's pretty similar to what I had in mind, Hank. If anyone can show them a better way, I know nobody better suited than you."
"Good idea, we should definitely spread the word. Cerebro can help, as I already mentioned, but feet on the street is a good direct approach too. Why not do both? Although sending anyone out alone may not be wise - Someone should go with you so you can watch each other's backs. Who do you think best suits that job? Someone those kids you mentioned are less likely to hide from, perhaps?"

"We don't know the stories of those kids we met in there. For all we know, they could be like me. They were taken off the streets and promised a warm bed and three meals a day. I'll tell you right now: If I hadn't been flashed with bright lights and shackled to a cot? I might have thought selling myself like that would be worth it.
"Then again, I'm not a weak-willed moron. I know my worth, and I know I'm worth more than that. Regardless of what they were promised, it's wrong, and what's to stop things from changing? What's to stop these people from...wiping their memories somehow and turning them into weapons.
"They're volunteering because they're hungry and cold and scared, and there are times when you're so desperate that there are...things you'll do for just one meal or a safe place to sleep for a night. They're being taken advantage of, and it's wrong. Screw your 'volunteer' thing.
"It's wrong."
There would be no convincing Shade otherwise. Absolutely no convincing him.
As for the colors he saw. "You have no idea of the colors I see. There are no words for them, but trust me: There is much more than just gray in my world. Much, much more."

"We did let the volunteers go with the scientists," Beast admitted at Mystique's mention of medical testing. "- but we were immediately attacked and they were fleeing. We do have to track them down I suppose.." "Cerebro..." Beast looked downwards for a second. "We haven't used Cerebro since the Professor and Jean passed away. I know the general use but... I'll consider it. But we should focus on what we know -- they're going after - homeless and at risk kids."
He turns to Shade. "I like the idea of you checking in and warning the children. You may also get a bead on if any one's missing so we can ensure no one is still being held against thier will. "
"On which part?" Hank asked Mystique. "Did they seem die - hard extremist or altruistic, or were you agreeing that they feel that they're helping the mutant cause?"
Beast looks at Shade.
"The colors..? That's good to know." "How did you feel about the teens in the Laboratory with you? Priya in particular asked to be contacted if we needed to find anyone. Would you trust them to look for other possible victims with you?"

"I don't think it'd be smart of me to go by myself. If it's alright, I'd like to take Devon with me. Maybe someone else. Three of us could go together, and we should probably not go in...nice things. Jeans and sneakers and hoodies rather than...right. This. Not that I mind this." The sweater was really nice, but it would stand out. Actually, the whole of the outfit would stand out. "But...right. We should at least look the part. I might lose the goggles too. People don't know the goggles. They know my eyes."Shade has 'Contacts: Street People' and Streetwise 2 with a specialty in 'The Homeless Network'.

"Yes, I have no intention of sending you by yourself. I was wondering if you would like to go with Devon, Priya, Jimmy - and an adult member of X-Men.." Beast turned to look around the room when an accented voice spoke.
"I will go."
The man who stepped forward towered above all except Beast, standing at 6' 7". "Shade, Colossus."Professor McCoy introduced the two. "He has been a member of the X-Men for quite a while."
"Good to meet you." Colossus spoke quickly, almost as though being uncomfortable at being the center of attention.
"I will not let anyone harm our people." Colossus assured Shade.
"It's Shade decision on where you go." The Professor said to Colossus. "I think no more than three hours, Shade. I have signed you up to join a Sociology and a history class with Rogue, Kitty and Devon. I'd like you to speak about your experience with your mutation on the streets. As you said, a great many on the streets are mutants- but they seldom find their way here with our greatest telepaths deceased. "
"Kitty, can you find some clothes?" "Beat up clothes, sure. Maybe I could go?" She looks at Shade eagerly.

Himself, Devon, Priya, Jimmy...and this big guy. This very big guy.
"Nice to meet you."
Shade was taking it all in, the sociology and history classes with all those other people... "It's been...awhile since I've actually been in school." Which likely wasn't a shock. He needed to get caught up. He still wasn't sure about this place, but if they wanted him to go to school, he could do that.
He'd missed school, when he hadn't been able to go anymore.
"I think...that's a good group. Myself, Devon, Priya, Jimmy, Kitty, and...Colossus."

[Regenerative]
That word stood out to her when they were being debriefed. Nevermind Mystique prattling on. “Why is everyone picking on me?” “You like Magneto and not me. Why?” “Why doesn’t anyone respect me?”
Devon had answers to all of these questions. And if Mystique or Raven wanted to discuss them, she’d be more than happy to.
First, no one was picking on Mystique. For some they had prior experience with her. For Devon it was that for her first impression, Mystique didn’t act, think, or sound like she was looking for allies. It sounded like she was looking to exploit Storm and this safe haven for her own personal benefit.
Secondly about Magneto: Yes, it was true. He had done terrible things; things that Devon wasn’t sure anymore were terrible, because let’s face it, he was just protecting his people the only way he thought he would succeed. Mystique? It was like she had a tattoo on her forehead that said “OPPORTUNIST” in big bold letters.
And lastly, the reason Devon didn’t respect her was because she had done nothing to earn respect. Was she acting honorably? No. At best she was carrying on like some sad. incipient, little brat that threw a temper tantrum every time she didn’t get her way, or if her not so subtle manipulations didn’t work either. How could they when she was being so transparent?
They still need to be brought to justice,” Devon told Beast. “They are hurting our people. Don’t we have a moral obligation to do something?”
Storm frowned. “We do, but things are not always so black and white, Devon.”
“I want to get justice, Dr. McCoy. This is an act of war,” Devon told Beast. “I don’t need assurances for my safety. Because until these threats are dealt with… no one is safe.”
“Professor Logan isn’t the only one with regenerative healing,” Devon remarked with a scoff.
“I am uneasy about you being here, Raven,” Storm said. “And John outright betrayed us. So no, John will not being joining us. He’ll put my students in danger.”
A pleased grin bloomed on Devon’s face. Shade understood. “Thank you. Perhaps it was this group that took me when I was very young. And if that is true… these people, Mystique all they want to do is hurt us. I’m with Shade, either way it must be stopped, because it’s wrong.”
“Devon…” Storm chided and the young girl went silent again.
Until Beast addressed her directly. “Thank you, Dr. McCoy. I would like that very much. When we have the time.”
Then she turned to Mystique. “If a mutant chooses to betray their people, then yes, they should be stopped. They must be stopped. We help those who are misguided and we bring the guilty parties to justice. Not because it is easy. But because it’s the right thing to do. Or are we not about that? Because I am not have been exposed to people that much, but I’m sure that’s what the good guys do.”
She looked at Shade. Then back at Mystique. Her quip about him made her more than upset. She dropped her arms to her sides and gave herself room. She’d warn Mystique. And depending upon how Mystique responded to Shade would depend greatly on what Devon did next.
She kept her eyes on Mystique but she replied to Beast again. “We can see if I manifest any new powers. If Telepathy is one of them… You can hook me up to Cerbero.”
Storm took a deep breath. “You don’t know what that’ll do to you, Devon. Professor Xavier and Jean Gray were high order telepaths. They could handle the stresses. Even if you did develop telepathy, you could be driven mad. So no. Neither you, nor Lacy will be using Cerbero.”
Devon pouted but she didn't argue. “I'll go with Shade and the others.”
“Raven can come with me. I want to revisit the compound site. No doubt they left already due to our interference but we can look for clues. And Raven can prove her loyalty... Or at least begin the process,” Storm said.

"What's to stop them, you ask? Us, of course! That is to say, the Xmen and ALL of our allies. We all stand against what we believe is wrong, because we have power or influence to do something about it; either individually or as groups. Honestly, when we found out a bunch of Normals were experimenting on mutants, I'm surprised Magneto showed such restraint: In the old days, we would probably have overwhelmed the complex, annexed their research, and turned the tables on them by trying some of their 'experiments' on the Normals themselves. And that's if we were feeling generous."
A lot of Normals were jealous of mutantkind because they DIDN'T have a mutation or powers of their own. In my mind I thought if there was a way to create stable mutations in Normals that were worthy of such gifts, it would go a LONG way toward our peaceful co-existance. Something told me not to voice this opinion though, not in this group of people. - That would not go down well.
"You're right; they are being taken advantage of. A lot of them are already well aware of that, but they stay anyway for one reason or another. We need to give them all good reasons not to stay, and above all reasonable alternative choices that suit their individual needs, or they will simply turn against us. The Xmen have not yet given them good reason to call us 'enemy'. Until then, there is opportunity for dialogue and I for one think we should not waste that opportunity - IF we cannot show them a better way, THEN we stop them by other means. Am I right, Hank? In the meantime, we still try to stop them 'recruiting' by spreading the word and giving everyone a heads-up."
I'd merely nodded at this point, not wishing to interrupt his chain of thought.
There was a lump in my throat at mention of Xavier's passing - He'd meant a lot more to me than anyone knew, including himself. I gave a brief, sad smile in gratitude for him considering Cerebro's use at my suggestion, then turned my face away to look out the window so our mutual grief wouldn't reflect back into each other's eyes and distract us from the point of this meeting.
After a moment I responded to his direct question. "They're helping their own cause, which we have yet to discover. What I meant was that I agree you should talk with them and make them see a better way before things get out of hand, if at all possible."
For that moment I briefly thought he might consider choosing me, for some reason. Well after all, I COULD blend in anywhere, using my abilities to disguise myself and sneak around unnoticed… Then someone volunteered, and I tried to keep a straight face. Colossus could hardly be any more opposite to me - He stood out a mile, whether using his ability or not! - He wasn't exactly 'subtle', but at least he would provide adequate protection. I couldn't help wondering if they'd find anyone if they were scared off by how Colossus looked, but I tried not to react openly for anyone to notice.
… And then there were six. Big team, but good luck to them.
She sure was a feisty one - I was definitely starting to like her, despite how she spoke about me. I was also pretty sure I'd already clarified my point about Wolverine and his regenerative powers to Shade earlier.
Well I could definitely understand Storm's point about Pyro, and he certainly wasn't all that predictable either. This was beside the point I had been trying to get across though - My idea had simply been to use the same three they went after before as bait, it didn't involve any students. Pyro and I had (or used to have) some sort of understanding between us, and he knew better than to piss Wolverine off again. There was no point me mentioning any of this though, since my idea had already been turned down.
"Years have gone by since your abduction took place, Devon. There's as much chance of that being the same group as there is a completely separate entity, or some precursor to the current 'science group' as we have termed them and interacted with recently. Personally I know hardly anything about your past, but if you believe this could be the same group, sharing what you know could prove to be valuable intel for us as a whole. That being said, I don't wish to pry for the sake of it - I know some experiences are highly personal, so what you choose to share or not is entirely your decision. If you prefer, you can confide just in Professor McCoy here - He's a good listener, thinker, and he's the one who comes up with the cleverest plans. He's also good at keeping secrets and knows when not to. He's kept my confidences and my trust for a very long time, and still has them to this day."
I hoped Devon wouldn't find fault with my words or 'attitude' again, arguments between us were counterproductive and would just put more emotional distance between us.
Of course they should be stopped, the matter we were discussing was HOW best to achieve that goal. I wanted to say something to that effect, but arguing was a bad idea and I was sure that's how she'd take it no matter how I phrased my point. I silently debated with myself how to respond…
"I want to become one of the 'good guys' you refer to, given my past folly with the Brotherhood. I have met many Normals over the years, some of which have proven to be very good people and more than tolerant of mutants, despite Magneto's views to the contrary. I let myself be blinkered to his cause, ignoring these 'aberrations' far too long. Somehow I will find a way to atone for my sin of lumping the best of Humanity with their ample scum constituents." I hoped she'd let my slight against Magneto go this time, after all it was just the plain truth.
To show my eagerness to DO something rather than spend hours debating WHAT to do, I chose this moment to stand up. Storm had also used the word 'can' rather than 'will' when referring to something she wanted me to do, which actually sounded like very good progress to me.
"Sounds like a plan, I'm ready whenever you are. We going by road or by air? Can't use the X-van unless Mags rescued it? But I know there are many different vehicles housed here we could use." If Eric hadn't rescued the X-van, I didn't think it would be in a very 'roadworthy' condition when, or indeed if, we found it again.

"What part of a hot meal and a warm place to sleep is hard for you to comprehend? They have a sh!tty choice. It's either go back to sleeping on the streets and starving and being terrified that someone will hurt them--because yes, that does happen--, or letting themselves be used as science experiments. I don't care what you say, Mystique. It's wrong. That's not a life anyone chooses unless they think there's no other choice.
"You have no idea...." Shade swallowed it back. The anger. The bile. The utter hatred. He wasn't leaving anyone in that place. Ever. And to say it was 'their choice' was a cop-out. It wasn't a choice.
It was an act of desperation.
"...I've made my point. When can we go?"
