"The group that I refer to as 'Striker's battalion' attacked the Laboratory. The Laboratory bugged out in their own helicopter. It seems that the Laboratory was correct in the sense that Striker's battalion is attempting to kidnap mutants. Those who interviewed people at the Laboratory gathered that the teens there were not being held against their will.
In other news, Bobby and Rogue awoke this morning." Beast said with a smile, setting down his papers. "They are in good spirits and seem no worse for wear for the excitement." "Devon and Shade are being chaperoned by Colossus to the local shopping enter where Shade is familiar with. Priya, Jimmy, Sophia, Ryan and Chelsea are with them. They wish to warn the other homeless what could be ins tore for them. Now we need to determine what our interest is in this.
Primarily, our goal was to
- Rescue Rogue
- Ensure children were not being held against their will as Devon, Shade and others were held
- Determine why there was a genetic testing protocol at the Laboratory. Rogue reports that her DNA was extracted. Shade and Priya were submitted to injections that were told would cause 'Telepathy' and 'Power to control Electricity'
Now where do we go from here?"Devon and Shade are not present, as they are in another thread. Beast is leading this briefing. Post in ASAP if your character is present.

Storm"This will always be a safe haven for all mutants." Storm felt like she had aged ten years in the few months since she took up the Professor's post. Her work was just never done. But that was life. That being said she had important matters that needed her immediate attention. "Striker's Battalion are a direct threat and not afraid to use force. Though those that ran the Lab are still questionable too. Is the Battalion still the Laboratory?" she asked Beast.

"No, the Battalion departed and flew north of the Laboratory." Beat replied after checking his computer print outs. "They took no one with them, so I assume that all Laboratory personnel fled. Which is our highest priority?" Beast proposed to Storm.

"Have you ever listened to someone? Not just, like, heard them, but actually listened to someone? You see, I do listen to people. I listen so deep that I hear their thoughts, and once I do that... Well, I find what makes them tick and light a fire underneath that. It's such a thrill to watch someone explode with emotions that I've engorged. You should try it sometime." Lacy smiled. She liked it when things came together and, in this instance, she'd played moderate role in the laboratory investigation and searching of the facility to help it go down smooth. It had allowed her to stretch her telepathic abilities, and even in ways she'd not done so since she'd first discovered the voices in her head were not always her own. She stretched her shoulders and stood up a little taller. "I'd imagine we might want to pursue the Battalion in a secondary capacity. You know, keep tabs on them but not necessarily engage," she said. She looked from Storm to Beast. "But the lab... Well, while they were experimenting on mutants, those mutants are still citizens and not animals. It might provide us some weight for having the lab shut down, or even just thoroughly investigated on a legal level due to the nature of the experimentation. Might also add weight against the mutant registration act. What can we do from the diplomatic angle?"

"That is an idea." Beast nodded, glancing to Storm. "An all out confrontation should be put off until we know more about them, at any rate. I was thinking we could do some digging via political channels. Perhaps you would like to assist me in reaching out to old contacts who might know more about Striker, Lacy? He was once employed by the Armed Forces. Discovering if this is all government sanctioned or his own vendetta would be useful.
If you would like to draft a proposal for how this should affect the Mutant Registration Act, I am all for it. I'd love to assist you with it and will get momentum behind it." Beast stated his support.
"One thing that I would ask you, Lacy, is if you would mind speaking to Shade and Devon upon their return. There is a question on if their companions will enter the advanced program upon their acceptance into this school. Shade and Devon will have the most working experience with them." Beast explained.
"Have you had any impressions of Jimmy, Sophia, Ryan, Chelsea or Priya?" He asks with interest.

Well, I find what makes them tick and light a fire underneath that. It's such a thrill to watch someone explode with emotions that I've engorged. You should try it sometime." Lacy beamed at the praise, nodding. "Would love to. I'm better in person, but drafting a proposal would be up my alley as well." She took a breath after that, considering the other bits he'd asked of her. She liked her talents, even readily used them to glean surface information and figure out the best way, or ways, to subtly push someone this way or that, but was always cautious never to go deep. At least not without permission. It was too close to other personal violations to do something like that without permission. Her smile returned. She could always refuse to go any further than she was comfortable with doing so. But somewhere inside her, she didn't expect Beast to ask that of her. She nodded again, with a small grin. "Sure, I'd also be up for talking with old buddies, and new friends. Though I'll have to admit, I haven't been 'round those guys enough to get anything more than passing guesses. Will definitely check sincerity when we meet up with them again.""I'm not running. I just don't have a home to go back to yet." "I could add a thing or two to the report," Raphael said, pushing away from the wall he was helping to hold up. He'd worked a lot of odd jobs in the years since he'd left the boarding school, but this was one of the more interesting ones. And only slightly because of who'd hired him on. "I went in after the evacuation and had a quick looksee. You'll get copies of the pictures I took later this evening, as I'd prefer to transfer them via something slightly more secure than the airwaves. Short end of the story: the lab was testing on mutants, which you already knew, and had a couple successes, which you might not have known."He glanced from Beast, his benefactor in this, to Storm and back to the blue man. He wasn't entirely certain just how much he should disclose before everyone. "Should I go on and spill it all now?"He looked back to Storm, then the rest of the mutants for a brief moment, and added, almost as an afterthought, "I'm Raphael Sevresch, by the way. Doin' a bit of work for Beast."

"If you do better in person, I will try and have you meet someone influential." Beast promised. "We must try and shore up evidence against the Mutant registration act. As you say, this illegal kidnapping and experimentation could go a long way to show how it de - humanizes our people. Yet there will always be people who see the worst that some mutants have done. I am attempting to find some precedence against punishing an entire group for the actions of a few individuals. I am mostly researching race riots and proven cases of discrimination and prejudice against minority groups; but that may be divisive."
Beast looked around the room. "I am sorry if this is distracting from the mission. My apologies, Storm." Hank gave Storm an apologetic smile. "Lacy sparked a thought that took me a moment to rein in." Beast looks to those assembled in the room. " We should discuss that in private. Anybody who would like to assist with the diplomacy, please speak with us after this meeting."
Beast includes Lacy with his glance, giving the young woman clear position of being as equal and vital to the discussion as himself. As Raphael speaks, Beast nods along with Raphael's words to show that he is actively listening to the young man.
"Thank you, Raphael." Beast says sincerely when Raphael states his contribution. Beast frowns somewhat at Raphael's information.
"Some success... that is a bit worrisome. We were told that several of the children were subject to genetic tampering. I do hope that none of them encounter... difficulties."
As Raphael asks if all should be laid bare, Beast glances to Storm. As Headmistress and Team Leader, he clearly defers to her authority in this matter.

Well, I find what makes them tick and light a fire underneath that. It's such a thrill to watch someone explode with emotions that I've engorged. You should try it sometime." Lacy smiled with Beast's words of inclusion and subtle endorsement. They faltered with Raphael's, however. While in the laboratory herself, she'd not gotten much out of the secretary she'd spoken with. Everything on the surface had showed that the people had wanted and believed they were helping. But the old adage was that the road to hell was paved with good intentions. And encroaching on the rights of the citizenry, however good intentioned, wasn't ultimately good. It also might have been that on the front, no one knew about what Raphael had discovered behind the closed doors. Perhaps they could excise the testing portion of the laboratory through diplomatic channels, but keep the helpful side of it. She looked from the lithe young man and back to Beast. "My talents lie better when I'm in the same room as someone else. But words sway hearts and minds, while paper etches those quiet words into the stonework of law and legislation. I'm willing to work on both sides of the coin." "I'm not running. I just don't have a home to go back to yet." Raphael remained quiet for a moment before adding, "I'd worry about what the successes would do to the attitudes of those running the place. If they get successes, who knows what else they may try doing."Of course, that was pure speculation on his part. The documents he had acquired, or at least photos of them, hadn't detailed much in the way of future plans outside of the continuation of experimentation. Something he didn't honestly want to see go on, in any fashion. But before he would contribute more, or even the specifics of the success that had been noted, he would wait for an okay to say it before everyone.

Magneto All this have I seen before "At some point Man must surely start to learn from his mistakes." Magneto spoke as he entered, his helmet firmly upon his head sealing and protecting his mind against all potential intrusion and clad in his armour, a gleaming crimson figure ready for war. "It seems that the yellow stars are making all too soon a return." "Talk, politics and negotiation." He says, with a great distaste for the words. "Is all well and good but any 'registration act' that is entered into law will be but the prelude to our deaths." He says bluntly. "unless we are strong enough to survive." "Play with words all you wish. Striker and his battalion must be our priority. They must be crushed, broken, scattered to the winds and their fate be made a public example both of the evil of our foes and of our capability to defend ourselves." Fury tinges his voice but he pushes it down.

Storm"This will always be a safe haven for all mutants." Storm was growing tired of Magneto's overused platitudes. If he didn't offer anything constructive, she'd ask him to speak with her later about his concerns. Words are wind. She told herself. But even the trees bow before the wind. “The Battalion is a secondary objective,” Storm said. “They will reveal themselves again. We must prepare ourselves when they do. In the meantime, we must find the Laboratory before they go into hiding and the trail goes cold.” She glanced at Raphael and then at Beast. “Speak with me later Raphael. I'd like to know everything.” Storm turned to Magneto. “So long as I am headmaster of this institution, the X-Men will not be used to wage open war against humans. We keep the peace. We are not soldiers.”

Beast frowns as the temperature of the room takes a plunge.
"Finding the people who run the Laboratory are our priority, then." The over sized fingers carefully turn back a page. "The previous satellite feeds that I surveyed show that there are only two places within range of the helicopter. It's possible there's a hidden base that managed to stay below the grid.
May I suggest that someone check out these two institutions from afar? I will get in contact with someone in the aviation industry. There aren't a lot of ways to hide a helicopter."
Beast lowers his papers. He suddenly realizes that there are not many people who would be able to lead an X-Men team now. Would two teams be possible?
"I'm also having a friend research missing persons reports. He reported that there has been a slight rise of missing persons reported from a local university."

You should try it sometime." Lacy twisted to look at Magneto as he spoke. A broken record she'd heard before, but still a passable argument, even if it were born from fear, for where they should focus their efforts. She took a breath, listening to the others speak before adding her own words. "The Battalion is a symptom, not the illness here. Striking after them, and focusing solely on them, isn't necessarily the best course of action. They will crop up again, as Storm has said, and brazenly attacking our cousins of mankind... That'd only speed us toward the completion of the registration act. I agree with you in that we must be strong enough to defend ourselves, but there's a keyword in that phrase. Defend. And words can speak greater than actions at times.
"Though what we need now is charitable actions that support the words we speak and the words we write. Violence, while useful at times, conveys only a single message: 'I am strong, you are weak.' It separates and scares. What we need now is unity. Unity among ourselves, unity among our lesser evolved cousins. We need to remind them that they are our cousins, nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters... Sons and daughters. That we all come from the same place and that there isn't need for fear.
"But we should also be ready as well. Ready to defend ourselves. But we shouldn't allow paranoia or irrational fear to drive us to extremes either. There are avenues that do not require violence. And violence may be necessary, possibly, but it is a possibility that I hope I don't ever have to beholden to or view." Lacy paused for a moment glancing from Magneto, who she wasn't drawing anything outside of what she could read from visual clues, to Storm and then Beast. "There's a time for swords and there's a time for plows. For the moment, it is time for plows, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't keep our blades sharpened."Her gaze swept back to Magneto. "Would you be willing to assist us in the endeavor of keeping our blades sharp? Keeping our vigil while working for a better world for us all?""I'm not running. I just don't have a home to go back to yet." He glanced toward Magneto as the man entered, listened to the words, and heard what he interpreted as a touch of fear behind them. But Raphael couldn't shake that, at least in part, he agreed with the old metal manipulator. Sometimes examples had to be made or lessons went unlearned. His first hard lesson had come with the near death of his brother, and the second with a horrific ringside accident. Some were harder lessons than others. Raphael nodded to Storm, "Of course. I'll also make sure you get copies of the pictures I gathered.". He then leaned against the wall he had originally posted by to listen to the diatribe from Lacy. He found himself smirking slightly. She had a way with words at time, even if she was a touch overly wordy and, in his opinion, naive. But at least she was easy on the eyes while she spoke.

"Fewer still to hide such a creation of magic from me." Magneto responded to Beasts statement with a nod "If you can find me likely locations I will be able to determine whether or not there are any installations there, though my range on such focused sensation is not with out limits." He spoke plainly and directly. My powers are still not what they were before they were robbed from me however I do believe that it is doable." He looks to Lucy with cold hard to read eyes, his face mostly hidden behind the crimson helmet. "I am here to aid and defend my people. More than that is Storm's decision."
