Glancing around, you see a white, flat land stretching across the south east of the Cornucopia as far as you can see. To the north; black trees just out of the white snowbanks; suggesting a wooded area about a ten minute run from you. To the north east, you see grey stones covered with snow rising upwards to a mountain range. To the north west, you see a hot, sandy wasteland. To the south west, you spy a green, blooming meadow. Behind you to the south, you see a mottled brown ground of dead grass and patches of ice.
The wind here is startling. The weather at the Forrest and the Lake had been a pleasant 70 degrees in the day; 50 at night. The Cornucopia ; however; had no warmth. The flat ground is still stained with blood. The horn appears to be the only shelter here; for there are no trees here.

Jace Colton[/u]
It's cold.
It's like a fist in the face and Jace gets into the snow again, and spins on his heel halfway to the Cornucopia. Waiting on Lallek to meet hi, and when he sees his ally he breathes a sigh of relief. NO one else had followed, in a way this is exactly what they wanted. Two people would be easier to keep alive than three.
They'd need less food. Less water. They might not get as much sleep, but at least they'd be alive.
Still, a third would have been nice, but it seemed that there were more than a few followers in that group. They could have it, for all he cared. They wanted to freeze to death in the Tundra, so be it.
He and Lallek would be alright. And even if they weren't? It was on them. Not on a bunch of idealists.
Shelter was important though, and he looks to Lallek. And to his ruined leg. If he went home, it would never be the same. The same went for his scythe.
Jace knew he'd never be able to participate in the harvest again. Not with a scythe. Not after killing with it.
Fields of Gold. It was all he wanted. Fields of gold rather than fields of white. Fields of death and fields of blood...
...He missed his fields of gold.
"Shelter." He says to Lallek. "Shelter...and...God...your head."
Funny. His leg was torn apart, but he was concerned about Lallek's head wound.

As the tributes recover from the grueling race from the mutations; the sun slowly climbs over the horizon.
"Good morning, tributes..." A booming voice comes from the sky of the arena. "There has been a rule change. More than one victor may be crowned if an alliance manages to locate these Victor's Bracelets that have been placed in the arena."
An image of a bracet - simple; with an emblem of the capial on the side - is projected onto the sky.
"Three maps have been placed with the location of three Victor's Bracelets. There are two stipulations
A) Only one alliance will survive. If the Bracelets are distributed amongst more than one alliance; the Games continue until one alliance is victorious.
B) Another bracelet will be placed for excellent acts of valor and determination by the dominant alliance.
There are no gaurantees how many bracelets will be in place. I suggest that you hurry, tributes. May the odds be ever in your favor."
Instead of fading; the sky projects an image. It is of the Forrest; with a shimmering, golden colored map at the top of a tree. The tree seems to tower a good twenty feet above the others; suggesting a hefty climb.
The image then changes to that of blue water. The camera dives below the surface and plummets to a dark; rocky bottom. There; a shimmering tube holds another map.
The image goes white; then pulls back to reveal swirling snow flakes. A flat, white ground is portrayed; with grey rocks evenly spaced. The camera zooms along the rocks before zooming out...
With these clues revealed; the images fade.

Lallek staggers into the field and takes a deep breath of the frigid air. It was a long run and even he was a little winded from it. The blood pouring from his eye has stopped gushing, but he pushes a handful of snow and presses it to the gash. The cooling snow helps abate the pain, though not by much. He waves off Jace's concern.
If his partner's wounds got infected he would need a new ally, because Jace would be worse than dead. They needed the medical supplies of the Cornucopia. Hopefully those combined with Lallek's rudimentary medical skills would be enough. Only he and the Big Alliance knew that the career pack was dead. Tonight the vultures would come and Lallek's chance to supply and arm would vanish. He and Jace needed to get everything in one pass then destroy or trap what remained. Grudgingly he begins stumbling towards the horn of plenty.
His thoughts are interrupted by the Capitol's announcement.
They want us to clash. To make a show out of it, but I don't need too. A few more days and only a few tributes will remain. They will kill each other of and then Jace and I can make our move.
Moving to his partner, Lallek pull's Jace's arm over his shoulder to help take weight off the bad leg. He offers a weak smile.
We aren't dead yet, and if we play it right, she will still get to live.

Jace Colton[/u]
"We need to get supplies. Can get water from the snow. Can get...food from...we need to find more food." And medical supplies. They'd need those. They'd taken the brunt of the damage from the Career Attack.
His leg wasn't ever going to be what it was supposed to be ever again.
They needed a lot, but hopefully they would be able to find it all and that failing, they'd be able to get it from sponsor.
There's a returned smile to Lallek when pulls his arm over his shoulder. Part of his plan had been to 'sell a friendship' to the Capitol. They ate that stuff up. At least until the end where they expected the two 'friends' to turn on each other. To kill each other. That wouldn't have to happen this time, and Jace as thankful for that.
He'd wanted to 'sell a friendship', but what he hadn't expected was to actually make a friend.
"And we need to get two of those bracelets. I'm not going home without you."
It surprised even himself that as he said it, he actually meant it.

Before Lallek needed two bracelets, now he needed three. Every day things got worse and worse. No, if it came to it, two bracelets would be enough. Approaching the Cornucopia, Lallek's jaw drops. GONE?! How can it all be gone. Anger flashes across his face and his grip tightens to a near painful level on Jace. There was no way that anyone could carry all of it. Surely it was around here somewhere. The career pack was dead. Rory had gone the other direction and there were no other large alliances that he knew of. Maybe the Capitol had taken it all back. No, they never did that. But there was no one who could possibly move it all. The only two options both seemed impossible and a fury begins to well in his chest. One way or another, they needed those supplies. Even if the sponsors provided it wouldn't be enough. The Cornucopia was Jace and Lallek's last chance at winning. We will not die out here. I won't allow it.His eyes dig into the Cornucopia looking for any sign of what had happened. 2012-07-03 04:48:16 Lallek Aldren rolled 5 dice to "Perception" 5,4,9,10,10,3,10,2 (4 successes)

Glancing around; Lallek noticed that there were more stains of blood than what had been present when he had departed. He noticed that the snow by the lowest edge of the horn had been disturbed. Fresh, light snow flakes had began to cast a sheen of white over the ground; but a faint trace of blood and dirt were still there. If he pulled himself up onto the horn; he would see more splashes and drips of blood on the contours of the roof of the horn. The fight had been all over this horn. Dropping his gaze back to the ground; he spotted several foot prints milling around the horn. The initial scrambling for supplies... Stepping further out from the horn; he hit a problem. The snow was beginning to fill in foot steps. One set was fairly easy to see - four or so sets from Meadow heading into the Forrest. That had to be the career path. But the other paths would be harder to see... and harder to track...

A slight bell - like sound carried over the flat grounds of the cornucopia fighting grounds. Raising your eyes skyward; you notice two parachutes drifting down. The first one reaches Lallek and feels heavy. Opening the flaps of the chute; he finds two studded leather vests. As he pulls them out; something drifts down to the floor. Picking it up; he reads:
7 11 allying -mentors supporting. eliminate alliances >1
Jace's parachute is lighter and contains a medical kit and a small bottle with three water purification tablets.
You are suddenly aware of a pressing hunger and thirst. Eating sparingly did not bode well for the athleticism you had been forced to undergo this morning. Your stomach demands food and your lips seem so very dry...

He was getting hungry. More importantly, Jace was getting thirsty, but he went to where Lallek said... ...All the supplies were gone, and that was a bad thing. There hadn't been any big fire or whatever, so no one had destroyed them. This meant that they were somewhere. They just weren't here. And that was a lot to carry with you. Too much, even for an alliance as big as Rory's. Even for an alliance as big as the Careers had been. It meant that it had to be somewhere. It just wasn't here. So he looked. Followed footprints, even as hard as it was. To see what he could see. And then the balloons. A med-kit and iodine tablets. A 'Stay Alive' kit, and Lyme knew that he didn't need food. He could find that easily enough, and another sponsor had sent him food earlier anyway. "Lallek. We need to eat. I have rice and fruit, at least. Still have the blueberries and mushrooms too. We've been running on fumes all day." He still kept looking though. "And I need to patch myself up. And you. That head wound needs to not get infected." 2012-07-03 14:37:46 Jace Colton rolled 3 dice to "Intelligence + Investigation" 8,5,10,4 (2 successes) 2012-07-03 14:39:39 Jace Colton rolled 5 dice to "Survival + Int -3" 9,8,6,5,6 (2 successes)

Jace could see two sets of foot prints with deeper impressions that set off towards the wasteland. He also could see three sets of footprints that headed into the forrest. Jace and Lallek wondered if the three who had headed into the forrest had caught up with the Big Alliance last night; at the lake. The two that headed off into the wasteland were an unknown factor...

Hunger and thirst. They were still there and when Jace mentions it Lallek realizes that he is starving. He nods in agreement to the statement. He holds up one finger. Sliding on the armor, Lallek stretches and gets used to the feel. This would simplify a lot. Next he splits open the medpack and gets working on Jace. Even though it is in the open his partner needs the attention now. Another fight and they were dead. The first attempt is a total failure, but opening a second bandage and flushing the leg wound with snow produces a small bit of relief. His own eye hurt horribly, but it could wait. 2012-07-04 04:15:42 Lallek Aldren rolled 4 dice to "Int+Medicine" 9,4,4,2 (1 successes) 2012-07-04 04:15:36 Lallek Aldren rolled 4 dice to "Int+Medicine" 6,7,3,7 (0 successes) With the field work done, he gestures to Jace's bag and makes a motion like he is putting a phantom spoon in his mouth. Then he points at the Cornucopia. Surely it was better to sit on cold metal that cold wet snow.

As the alliance heals itself; the two hear a startling, but faint sound drift over from the grey mountains. It has a hair - raising animal tone to it - the yowl of a big cat.
CANNON! CANNON!Within moments; two cannon blasts sound. Lifting your eyes; you see District 8; ElenaDistrict 11; Odin

Jace Colton[/u]
He jumps a little while Lallek is wrapping his leg, looking up. That sound of the yowling cat and the two tributes that were dead... ...That didn't sound good. It was like they filled this place with mutations and waited to see which one's would take the Tributes out. They wouldn't even have to hunt each other. Just wait long enough, and mutations would kill everyone.
Just take a look at his leg. And those were birds.
"...There are track. Heavier one's. In the snow heading over toward the Wasteland. Like two-someone's carrying a lot of stuff. Three headed into the woods. I'm wondering if those are the one's who caught up to us at the Lake last night. They didn't find us, but they were there. The footprints were lighter though."
He winced again. Walking on this was going to be 'not fun', but Jace knew he was going to have to do it. "We need to eat something, and then we needed to get moving. It's not safe here. Not when everyone else finds out about the Careers being dead."

I wonder if Jasmine will lose sleep over her district mate.
There was a small degree of grim satisfaction to know that the Big Alliance's districts were beginning to fail. Still, that would only force them all together and make them that much more dangerous. Fewer tributes in the arena was a good thing, but he was longing to see Tank's name up on the big screen. Rory and Rowan were just simple tributes, and while Jasmine was quite lethal with her bow, he and Jace could handle her. Tank was the only one that he really feared. The way he had merely grabbed Silver was quite terrifying.
As the cannon echos fade, however, Lallek returns to the business at hand. Sitting down on the Cornucopia he looks at Jace and gestures to the food. While he waits, he preps Jace's armor. Then he points to his partner and back at the leather. They would both need armor now that they didn't have human pin cushions to rely on. With that done, Lallek waits expectantly for food.
Two people moved all this gear. Let's hope we don't meet up. Not yet anyway.

The blueberries and the dried fruit are set out, along with the rice. He'd need to boil the rice and the mushrooms if they wanted to eat that, but the fruit and the blueberries would work for now. At least until they could find decent tinder. Tinder that didn't smoke at all.
Here, they weren't going to find it, and they hadn't brought any of the wood or other things they'd gathered. If that little campsite in the woods weren't already known to the Big Alliance, he'd suggest going back there.
As it stood, they'd have to find another hidden little campsite.
"I have iodine tablets. We can use those for the snow today. We'll need to gather wood that doesn't smoke so badly, and more food." Assuming they didn't find the other supplies. Or someone didn't send them.
"There's nothing here but snow and more snow. The fruit will have to do because I don't want to risk eating the mushrooms without cooking them first."
As for the rest. "...Are we still going after The Wealth? There was far too much for two people to carry on their own. We'll have to either get it, or give up and actually forage. And hunt. I think it'd be better if we got a little protein. As much as I like my fruits, Rowan was at least right that with all the blood we've both lost, we're going to need the protein and the iron to replenish."

Taking a blueberry and popping it in his mouth, Lallek considers their options.
Forage or The Wealth..
He points down the trail that headed towards the Wasteland. Those supplies were vital. No one would take them all and then just sit on the stash. They would have to hide it and only take what they needed. By and large there was plenty of wealth at the Cornucopia that couldn't be carried that was still vital. That was the goal Lallek had. Once they stocked up, he would trap or burn everything else. If they could hunt it down anyone could. If we can find it.....
Jace was right though. They needed a lot of things. Meat, weapons, shelter. There was so much they needed to do, why had they been attacked. Reaching down Lallek scrawls in the snow. What happened last night?

There's a frown at the question. The Wealth would be worth it if they could find it. They could stock up on water and armor and weaponry. Maybe some good, fresh food for a dinner and they could stock up that too.
"Last night?" He took a deep breath. "While you were sleeping, the lookouts saw three other Tributes. They were getting water, so we left them be, seeing as we were all pretty tired and not in a good place physically.
"And then you started screaming. You were having a nightmare, and I can only assume that it either attracted those big birds, or the smell of freshly spilled blood did. Anyway...we ran. Rory grabbed you up and took off. She lost her footing, and that's why we all ended up fighting them. I was an idiot and threw a rock at one of the ones attacking you and Rory to get them off of you both...and you saw what happened to my leg because of it. Anyway....
"....You saw what happened after that."
Jace swallowed, taking a piece of the dried fruit and chewing it before he spoke again. "The whole thing was my fault. I should have mention the bird. I saw one down by the water earlier, but didn't think it was dangerous. I should have mentioned it but...."
He shrugged, and then pulled the armor over his head. "...I'm sorry. I should have told you about it."

Lallek places a hand on Jace's shoulder and waves off the apology as if nothing is wrong. Then he takes a second to consider what his partner had said before the apology.
A nightmare? He couldn't remember it. One minute he was asleep, the next he had been on the ground surrounded by a whirlwind of conflict. Lallek rarely dreamed, when he did they seldom made since, but he hadn't had a nightmare in years. What could possibly have....
Screaming? A sound hadn't passed his lips since the day his father died. He didn't speak, he certainly didn't scream. Ever.
Gesturing to himself, Lallek covers his mouth and shakes his head in confusion. Surely Jace had been mistaken. A nightmare was certainly possible, but Lallek wouldn't be screaming. If he was making noise things were seriously wrong, but there was no chance of that so why worry? Rory's act of kindness almost is lost to Lallek and while he acknowledges it in his mind, he remains focused on the part about him making noise. Screaming, no way.

"I promise you, Lallek. I wouldn't lie about this. You were screaming and thrashing, and I tried to calm you down but..." It hadn't worked. "My sister has nightmares sometimes, and the only thing that calms her down is me singing to her. So I tried it with you.
"...It might have worked if we had time but those birds attacked. We had to get out of there."
He popped a few blueberries into his mouth and chewed. "I don't know why you can't talk, and it's not my place to try and get you to--or even to ask why--because there has to be a reason, but I promise:
"You were screaming."
He didn't know what that meant. That potentially Lallek's voice did work, but there had to be a reason why he couldn't talk. It wasn't just pretend. He'd seen it. How frustrated Lallek got when someone misunderstood him. It was why he'd tried so hard to learn the signs he used for the things he 'said' the most.
He went quiet for a moment. Yes, survival was important and they should be overtalking plans, but there was something about knowing someone...it made them real. It was why he was so adamant that he was 'Jace Colton' and not 'District 9's Boy Tribute'. It was why Lallek was Lallek. And even as angry as he was with the others, they all had names.
They were people. Not 'Tributes'. Not to him.
"What's District 4 like? I heard you can see the sea. I heard it goes on forever. Is that true?"

It's not silent. Jace spends a lot of the time covering the silence with his own voice and his own singing. Eating and searching a bit of the grounds to see if the scavengers missed anything. It was best if they did that if only to see what could be found. 2012-07-10 15:41:09 Jace Colton rolled 4 dice to "Wits + Investigation" 8,10,8,5,8 (4 successes) He does clean and re-wrap his wound, applying pressure and hopefully managing to fix it a little better. The last thing he needed was for it go begin to rot. That would be a mess, and he didn't want to lose his leg. If he went home, he wanted both of his legs. Even if he'd bear the scars for The Arena for the rest of his life. 2012-07-10 15:38:30 Jace Colton rolled 6 dice to "Intelligence + Medicine + First Aid Specialty" 1,2,6,1,8,4 (1 successes)
And then it's taking a short sleep, as he needed the energy, and then putting snow in their waterskins. The more they had, the better, and this meant that it was time to make their way to find those supplies. And to find those bracelets. 2012-07-10 15:43:39 Jace Colton rolled 8 dice to "Wits + Survival" 6,6,9,4,10,10,3,2,10,8,6 (5 successes)
2012-07-10 18:12:28 Jace Colton rolled 8 dice to "Wits + Survival" 3,8,5,10,5,2,7,1,8 (3 successes) [Has anyone seen Mr.B?]

Jace locates a pen and a pad of paper left behind in the Cornucopia. The victors of the BloodBath must be living well right about now... Jace uses the medical kit to change the dressings; using the last of the bandages in the kit. Another medical kit would be needed by tonight if he wanted to keep up on this hygienic practice. Hopefully the gear would not be all that difficult to find... Jace has a fairly good idea of where these heavier footprints head to and leads the way out of the cold, frozen tundra. Jace and Lallek enter the hot, dry Wasteland and pause to remove the cold weather clothing. They are now drinking more often; and this skin will likely last them two hours; at the most. Jace continues to move forward; pausing at an odd scene. There are scuffle marks in the sand and a small amount of blood. There are four tracks here - two that pause twenty feet from the scuffle; and two right in the middle of it. The two from the scuffle head towards the Frozen Tundra. No one is in sight. Roll Investigation - 2 to decide what happened here Please roll perception Jace still feels that the supplies are further ahead; over that sand dune. The tracks are still legible; although they fade slightly with each hour that the wind blows some of the sand away. Post in the Wasteland from here on out

It was the day of the Feast - the morning was no doubt spent in preparation. Today was a life changing day. It would take the lives of many and bless a few; if any. You have been given a full day's notice and so arrive in plenty of time. No doubt that others will be attempting to arrive early in order to get a prime spot to set up... What is your plan for surviving? Will your alliance emerge stronger or fractured?
Please see the OOC thread

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
Rory stood on the edge. She could see the golden cornucopia ahead of her. It was hard to believe that Rory who was standing here was the same girl from district seven. She looked at her hand. The wound had closed but she'd have a scar. She replaced her glove and looked at the others in her alliance.
"You think this is a trap?"[/color] she asked the others.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female[/u]
Jasmine crouched at the edge of the field, staring at the cornucopia, trying to pick out the trap she expected to be there. If it weren't the tributes, she expected the Gamemakers had something up their sleeves. Either way they weren't going to accomplish anything just standing on the edge of the field.
She drew a breath and blew it out as she stood up next to Rory. She felt braver than a mere few days ago when she'd stood on the brink of another bloodbath, but knew that it would vanish if Sorrel turned up. She eased an arrow out of her quiver and into her bow. "Ain't nothin' risked, ain't nothin' gained. There's like a trap down there, but... we gotta go, or abandon goin'. Standin' here ain't doin' us any good."
