Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” The look on Ember's face when Ford took a swipe her... Half-confusion, half pure rageful, indignation. Did this mutha****a just cut me? Me... Doesn't he know who the **** I am? Before Lacey even took a swing a Jan, Ember was switching the blade for her right to her left, ready to put Ford down. That's when Roger came out of nowhere and got a piece of her. Victoria's words let Ember know that she could continue to focus on her kill. Ford, you dun ****ed up, now. Ember thought as she calmly picked up a helmet and put in her open backpack. “Handsome, you're gonna get it now...” she said to Roger, before attacking Ford again. Ember's left hand came up and sliced at his neck again. She didn't even wait to see if the blow landed before she turned, pivoting on her heel and stabbed Ford in the heart. She gave the a twist. “So much for quick and painless...” That's when she saw Jan go down. Ember found herself calling his name. “Jan!” then she barked at Jasper. “Lacey... focus on Lacey!”Ember Clay rolled 9 dice to "attacking Ford (Neck) [11-2/Dex+Weap+Knife+Sp+Spetsnaz 4 - 2 for Called Shot to the Neck]" 8,3,8,3,8,6,4,6,3 (3 successes) Ember Clay rolled 7 dice to "attacking Ford (Heart) [11-4/Dex+Weap+Knife+Sp+Spetsnaz 4 - 3 for Called Shot to the Heart - 1 for Slash and Stab]" 8,6,3,1,5,8,9 (3 successes) Ember's not using her off-hand anymore and her defense is at a 3 until her next round. Lacey snatched valuable gear from the ground and turned to flee after her alliance mate, Cotton, who was some ways closer to the tree line now. Two figures could be seen holding weapons in the tree line, watchng thier approach. [Lacey is dodging this round] Isolde took a shot, heeding Ember's advice to her district mate. The arrow implanted in Lacey's left shoulder, but the staff wielder kept running. Isolde wasn't inclined to give chase, kneeling next to Jan. The boys eyes were closed and he breathed evenly. The side of his face had a bump rising and was turning the color of an eggplant. Isolde shook his shoulder, but Jan would not awaken. Isolde rolled 5 dice to "Shooting Lacey " 8,8,7,7,5 (2 successes) Victoria and Glory dispatched of the dying Ford and descended on Roger, assisting in sending both to their final rest. The girls then half turned, evaluating the field. "The field is ours." Glory realized as cannons sounded - one for Roger and one for Ford. She turned her head, realizing the young men of her alliance had departed. "No cannons from seven." She noted, glancing to Victoria. Victoria walked towards the horn, stooping to pick up a back pack. Glory noted Jan's state and wondered. "What happened to him?" She asked Ember, her eyes looking over towards the factory.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Ten cannon blasts...
Ember was sitting cross-legged with her chin resting in her hands. She had refused to leave the platform, swearing Cinder knew she was watching. But only if she stayed right here. So for the hour that Cinder won the cornucopia with the Careers of her day Ember didn't move.
She hardly blinked.
After the hour had passed, ten cannon blasts herald the beginning of the end. Only three... Not a good showing... And these two bitcas stole my kill... Careers... Pushy mothers, aren't they? “Grumpy, watch her,” Ember said, pointing to Lacey. “She even blinks this way, you put an arrow in her eye.”It felt cold. It sounded cold. But Ember was angry. Angry that this girl had hurt Jan. Seemed odd that she had no issue throwing down with Jan should they make it to the final four. But the idea of someone else hurting him was like a grave insult she wouldn't let go unpunished. Ember picked up a small bag a tossed into her backpack. She looked at Isolde, then Jan, then Victoria. “Lacey from eight gave him a whack to the dome...” She bent over Jan's body and put something under his head. “He's gonna be okay. But he'll need some healing...” she turned to Isolde and put a hand on her shoulder. “Sweetpea, be a lamb and find me a medkit. I'm not a healer but I can maybe keep him from having a major headache when he wakes up.” She looked off toward path that Brass and the other had left. If the cannons went off and Brass came back to them, she'd know that Felix was dead. “We should stay and gather the loot. Let Brass take this one. I don't want to see him without a kill under his belt at the end of the 'Bath, you know... Besides, we won the horn. Let's loot this bitca!” Hit Points: 16/ 21Willpower: 5/ 6Inventory:- Two finely rolled cigars (District Token)

"That tool,," Jasper jerked his head towards the factory. "- Bogart, kept me from finishing the guy that was on you. Ordered me to shoot the sevens." His tone was indignant. Jasper notched an arrow and watched the tree line. Lacey and Cottons' small figures joined with two others and moved into the ruined city.
"Looks like Lacey has friends." Isolde observed darkly as she straightened and headed to a box. She upended a box of survival gear - matches, iodine pills and cookwear. Isolde took two sets of matches and iodine pills, placed them in the small pouch of her backpack and kept on. As Isolde moved to another box, Glory reached over the girl and opened it first. As it was a box of weapons, Glory put her body between it and Isolde. Isolde gave the girl a look of mild irritation and moved on to the next box. She found a box of medical kits and removed one, bringing it over to Ember.
Glory was looking through the box of smaller weapons - knives, throwing knives, arrows and so on. She took a set of throwing knives [+3] and moved to a weapon rack of finely wrought [+3] swords. There were only four. Glory took one and attached it to her belt and took another, slinging it over her shoulder - perhaps keeping it for Brass. She admired a wall of hand held knife sets - that would go perfectly with the fighting style that Ember, Jan and Lily knew. There were only four knives on the wall.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Everyone bone in Ember's body screamed to react. Without Brass' mitigating presence it seemed that Glory was forgetting their deal. And with Ember's spokesperson sleeping on the ground, she didn't have a lot of options. With her knife in her good hand she counted how many steps it would take to attack Glory. There was still Victoria at her back and she had to contend with her as well. Then of course, Brass and Eclyspe could reappear at any moment just as she was doing the deed. She could take on Glory. Maybe even Victoria and Glory but not the other two and Bogart. Even with Jasper and Isolde at her back. It would be too much for them all to handle. Relax, baby sister. Think. Begrudgingly, Ember put her knife into it's sheath and took the med kit from Isolde, placing it beside Jan for a moment. “Take Grump and get two duffel bags and two back packs. Take our share. And our share only. No violence.” Ember whispered. Though she hoped that Isolde understood her meaning and it's importance. “I'll heal up Charming.”Ember slowly circled the weapons, she picked up three knives (two +3, one +2) and three sets of throwing knives (+3). She looked at Jasper and nodded toward the armor and the food. She herself picked up a box of matches and dug into her pocket until she found her district token... Well it was part of a set. She ignited the match and used it to lit the end of her cigar, breathing deeply. The first victor dance. Ember nodded to the Camera that had to be there and held up the cigar. She turned to Glory with the cigar in her mouth but both hands up. “We're just taking what was promised to us.”She backed up to Jan and did her best to heal him. She needed him on his feet. And fast. “Come on, Charming. You've had enough beauty sleep...” Ember said as she opened up the medkit and got to work. [I'll post what Isolde and Jasper attempt to get in the OOC if that's okay] Ember Clay rolled 6 dice to "Int+Med+2" 8,3,8,9,2,4 (3 successes) Hit Points: 16/ 21Willpower: 5/ 6Inventory:- Two finely rolled cigars (District Token)

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy With the Capitol Good Looks
"Do you hear them?" Jace looked up, obviously listening to something. Jan felt something pulling at him, and when he actually tried, it was there. A whisper in his ear. Pulling him away from this place he desperately wanted to stay.
"Jan!" "What's wrong with him?" "Come on, Charming. You've had enough beauty sleep...."
Even as he wanted to stay, he could feel Jace take a step back. "They need you. And I need to go. There are people lost. I have to help them find their way. Roger. Ford...."
Jan looked at his twin, and frowned. "Find their way?"
"It's what I do." There was that characteristic sweet half-smile. "You need to go, Jan. Go back. They're calling you. I promise...I won't go. Not without you."
"Could you?"
Jace shrugged. "Don't know. Never tried." His hand squeezed Jan's arm one last time. "Try to keep your promise to me. Win this thing. Live for the both of us."
Jan swallowed. "I love you."
That sweetness again. That smile. "I know. You and Ma and Pa and the others...you all loved me so well when I was alive, that I never, ever had to doubt: I was loved. That's all that matters.
"Goodbye, Big Brother."
His fingers flexed around the handle of the knife, which would likely be what Ember noticed first. Even unconscious-yet-returning, Jan was just as deadly as any of them.
The Careers were driven by...whatever it was they were driven by. Honor. Duty. Whatever it was. Jan and Ember, on the other hand, were driven by something much, much more dangerous than that. A lack of anything to lose. An abundance of everything to gain.
Pure and unadulturated hatred and revenge...
If anyone had truly bothered to look into all their similarities, maybe they'd have seen why the two of them were such natural allies. The same goals. The same needs. The same sort of unspoken understanding of those things.
It was why he wasn't shocked that she was the one leaning over him, rage on her face. He had that same sort of feeling. If anyone was going to kill him? He wanted it to be her.
And he had the feeling that she felt the same way.
"Hey, Sunshine..."
Jan had to blink the sun and the wetness out of his eyes before he sat up...
...And immediately wished he hadn't. It hurt. As if someone had beaten him over the head with...
..Oh. Wait. Someone had.
The Cornucopia was quiet. Or rather: Other than the sifting through the Wealth, it was quiet. Other than the bitching and the moaning and the all-but-feral fighting over stuff, it was quiet, and Jan looked to Ember.
"...What's going on? What did I miss? I know I gave Lacey a nice new smile...."

Isolde picked up a back pack and squatted next to Victoria. Victoria glanced towards her with a nod of acknowledgement and went back to sorting a box of armor. She stacked several basic helmets to the side and drew out a more elaborate one. She donned the helmet and reached within the box, coming out with another helmet. Victoria extended the helmet to Isolde. Isolde accepted it and donned it immediately with a nod.
"Thank you." Isolde said carefully. She gestured towards the awakening Jan. "Can I have some for my friends?"
Victoria pushed the box closer to Isolde, allowing the two girls to pick through the box together. Victoria took a set of chest protection, donning it over her shirt. Isolde reached into the box, slipping two of the helmets [+2] into the backpack. She picked up another helmet [+2] and approached Jan and Ember. Isolde extended the helmet in her hand to Jan, wincing. "For your noggin'. I have two more helmets for us. Victoria has a whole box of armor over there. Glory is a little more... protective of the weapons."
Jasper snorted and shouldered his bow, approaching the box of smaller weapons that Glory had picked through. He glanced within. "Throwing knives and blow guns." He reported to Jan, Ember and Isolde. Jasper took two sets of throwing knives and stooped to pick up a duffel bag, dropping the weapons within. He approached the weapon rack, examining one of the better bows. He dropped his original bow on the ground and selected one of better quality[+3]. After a moments' thought, he tucked a [+3] bow into the duffel bag.
"What sort of weapons do we want?"
[glow=red,2,300]A rumble of thunder sounded over the park. The trees began to whistle as the wind whipped their branches. The world darkened as ominous gray clouds moved over the sun. The clouds expanded, moving to cover the blood bath area. A tendril drifted towards the factory; another towards the Jungle.[/glow]

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Relief was the first thing to flash across Ember’s face. That and then a cool neutrality when Jan went for his knife. She smiled at that. Jan shouldn’t be dismissed. Even now. Had been born in District 12 he would have learned how to use that knife to skin poached game. In District 12, Ember would have considered him a friend. Here in the Arena, they were something else. Compatriots or alliance mates didn’t begin to explain their unspoken bond, their silent understanding. That’s it, Charming. Come back to us… Sunshine… Ember chuckled at that full on. It was fitting. Filled with the kind of irony she could appreciate. Because she was just one big ****in’ ray of sunshine, wasn’t she? “Welcome back, Charmin’ hope you enjoyed your nap.” When Jan sat up, Ember was there with two pain pills and the water skin from her belt. “This’ll get rid of the throb.”She didn’t even think about how that might look for the cameras. Ember didn’t care. But if Panem loved it, all the better. Because then, when she broken their hearts, they’d really feel it. Like with a twist of the knife, she’d make sure the wound didn’t close quite right. And every time it ached, they’d know. They’d know it was her. That she did it that. Her, Ember Clay. District 12. She herself picked up a box of matches and dug into her pocket until she found her district token... Well it was part of a set. She ignited the match and used it to lit the end of her cigar, breathing deeply. The first victor dance. “We took the prize. Brass and the boys went after Broody and Butterfly. And Smiles ran off trying to hold her face together. Klover, Ford, and Roger, they won’t be going home.”They didn’t die at the end of her blade. Though Ford’s death was something she counted at hers. He would have bleed out in minutes. Victoria and Glory just made sure it would happen in seconds. Ember leaned forward. “I got you a better knife. And some throwing ones if you sure you’ve got your head on straight.” Then she whispered, “Glory’s forgetting that we made a deal for half of the wealth. She’s acting like all of those weapons as hers.”She nodded to Isolde. “Give the helmet to Grumpy. I’m gonna pick up my own. You see what you can turn up without provoking Glory, Sweetpea.”And let someone try to stop her. Ember nodded to Jan and Isolde. ‘Watch your backs,’ the look she shot them seemed to say. It would appear that they were walking on thin ice with the Careers. Or at least Glory. “Get the Blow Gun, the Axe, that round thingy that the Mermaid had. I’ll mess ‘round with it later. A bow for Sweetpea. And then a lesser shinier bow for me. Put it in the duffel bag. See what use you think might be useful,” Ember told her district mate. She even threw in a please at the end though it probably didn’t sound sincere as most things that Ember said with a certain level of ambivalence. Ember herself picked through her own pile of items. She took the 4 Iodine Tablets, Throwing Knives (+2), Silver machete (+2), the Basic First, (+2) and the Studded Leather Vest (+3 Armor). She put the iodine Tables in her Backpack and the First Aid Kit in another duffel bag they had set aside for gear. The one she used on Jan was placed in Isolde pack. She could have had Jan use it on her but they’d heal up at night, when they were away from and safe. Ember then walked over to Victoria. There were no weapons out and at the ready so she felt as though she could approach without cause for alarm. Ember picked up Arm Bracers (+3) (placing her other ones in her backpack), Leg Graves (+2), Foot Protection (+3), a helm with visor (+2), Neck Protection (+2). She placed the armor out, planning to change into it. For now it was just placed near her plié of things. Waiting to be put on. She looked at Victoria. “How’s that, vest O’ many pockets workin’ out for ya? Does it breathe well? Or do you feel weighted down?”Ember looked down and noticed her cigar was out. She relit it. And glanced at Victoria waiting for her answer. That's when she felt the soft claps of thunder in the distance, the steady breeze, and the clouds. A storm. Fitting. “A storm... Guess that means we're on a deadline here. No pun intended.” Hit Points: 16/ 21Willpower: 5/ 6Inventory:- One finely rolled cigars (District Token)
- Knife +1
- Empty backpack
- Arm Bracers [Armor: 1]
- Full water skin

Jan Colton Ford. Roger. Klover. Jan had known about the first two. Jace told him. Told him that he'd be going to meet them. To lead them 'someplace better'. Jan wouldn't lie to himself that a rather large part was jealous of them, and how far had he fallen, that he was jealous of two dead boys? "Damn. Though for sure I'd killed Smiles." He smiled, even if it looked a little watered down, before he took the two pills and drank a long drink of water. This headache had to go away if he was going to be good to anyone. "Let her have her chest of weapons, Sunshine. I'm sure there are plenty of others scattered about. I'll go check the scattered packs and things. This is a big Cornucopia. Might find something fun in one of them. Get me one of those nifty visors. Maybe a machete, if you can manage it. I'm hell on wheels with a machete." Jan grabbed himself a vest and a hip pouch. He had his other two backpacks and his knife, and he strapped the knife (+3) that Ember handed him to his belt after testing it's balance. Nice...nothing wrong with having two knives. Along with the bandolier of throwing knives she gave him (+2), he was well on his way. There were plenty of packs to be rooting through. The food though, caught his eye. They'd leave them the cooler--Jan had no use for perishables in a place like this--and instead he grabbed the bag of turkey sandwiches, 3 cans of the fruit, and the pot of lamb stew. They could have the rest, for all he cared. He'd be searching the other packs. "Nevermind on the Machete!" He called over to Ember, holding up a rather nice one ( from one of the piles of bags. He was still near enough, and was strapping it to his waist even as he said it. Nice. Silvered. He'd take it. Wasn't like anyone else was going to come back for it. Not unless they had a death wish. There was also a couple of First Aid Kits that he shoved into one of his backpacks. A few other things that he was finding in the bags. Glory was too busy guarding the weapons, and others were raiding the Wealth. Jan, on his end, was raiding the other things. The things meant to be snatched up and run with. Bags. Weapons. If only he could carry it all, he would have. As it stood, he was getting quickly loaded down as it was. 'It's what Jace would do.' It was what he kept telling himself. The group who'd run into the Factory were maimed. Jace--being who he was--would make sure they were supplied before he left them behind. Jan knew that after their meeting, if they saw each other again it would be as enemies, but the least he could do was this. Besides, it wasn't the Tributes that Jan was angry with. He scratched at his still-twinging head. Well...not all the other Tributes. The newly-minted 'Smiles' was going to get her's. This bruise couldn't be pretty, after all, and that made him angry. Even if he ripped her face apart. "Hey, Gorgeous." He grinned at Glory as he passed by her and her hoard of weaponry. It was just silly, the way she was acting. "Those are gonna do you no good if you're starving to death or you have a bad infection. You might want to pack a bag with what you can carry, huh? Food. Water. Med Kit? Makes more sense than hording weaponry."2012-12-03 18:11:26 Jan Colton rolled 9 dice to "(For Glory) Manipulation + Persuasion + 1 (Striking Looks) + Specialty (Charm)" 6,10,3,4,1,1,8,1,4,9 (3 successes) Jan winked, figuring she'd either listen, or she wouldn't. Either way? No skin off his teeth. If the way Ember and Isolde and Jaspar were moving about and gathering things, they'd be alright. Apparently, rich kids from rich districts didn't know the meaning of the word 'scavenge', which was exactly what Jan had been doing. Exactly what his Alliance was doing. Victoria, on the other hand? She was one to watch. She was scavenging like a pro. "Any binoculars laying around? Jace had binoculars last year. Those things were great." Probably not. Jace had gotten those from a sponsor. Someone had liked him enough to send them to him. Jan's goal? To be loved even more than that before he ripped the hearts of the Capitol out of their proverbial chests and stomped all over them on live television. In a way? This was going to be lots and lots of fun. "Want me to look for anything in particular, Sunshine? I think I've got...a good deal of things from the other bags.
"Jaz? Izzy? You guys find anything nifty?"

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Ember sat puffing away on, watching Jan enjoy himself. Even if it was fake, even if it was just for the cameras, it was good to see him smile. And despite herself, Ember was grinning too. While she smoked, had Jan toss her a vest and a belt with all those hip pouches. That’s when Ember picked up a pair of camo pants. “So much for modesty,” Ember said with a shrug and started to change. She put on the camo pants, keeping her shirt on. Then Ember tossed the new belt she had gotten and the armor she had collected. She added the vest last, before she strapped on her weapons. Two knives, throwing knives. The silvered machete she found went on her back and she slipped her last cigar and lighter in one of the pockets before she took off her helmet and slipped on a pair of sunglasses. “Admit it I look bad***,” she said to Victoria, with a smirk. “Lookin’ good, Charming,” Ember called as she met up with her alliance. The cigar she was smoking was about half-way done. “There isn’t any binoculars that I can see but there are night vision goggles.” Ember said, she picked up two backpacks and combined the contents into one. The Snare Wire Gear could easily fit into the tree climbing stuff. Hit Points: 16/21 Willpower: 5/6

Victoria glanced over towards Ember as she donned a pair of leg greaves. "We're always going to be on a time line." Victoria stated calmly, stretching her legs as she adjusted to it. She selected a pair of arm bracers and donned them as she continued.
"The threat of a storm should send every one scurrying for shelter. We can mop them up afterwards..." Victoria shook her head. "But the pact only lasts twenty four hours. I can't decide when you and your partners would want to leave. But if you want to come along, you're welcome to." Victoria stated calmly, earnest. She glanced over to Glory, who had walked past the knife rack and was inspecting the staves collection.
"What are you going to do with that?" Victoria wondered. Isolde took advantage of Glory's distraction to start picking through the weapons box, slipping [+3] Blow Gun, the [+3] Axe and the [+3] chakram into the duffel bag that Ember had detailed. Jasper moved beside Glory, taking three of the knives. Glory gave him an irritated look. Jasper simply slipped the knives in his bag, ignoring her. He approached Ember and Jan, handing each of them one of the [+3 knives]. Over his shoulder, Glory had taken ahold of the staff and was staring at Jan and Jasper.
Victoria tensed slightly, observing Glory's body language.

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy with the Capitol Good Looks "Of course I do." Jan smiled, doing a turn when he was done putting on armor. The Greeves. Arm-bands. Visors. That neck thing.., along with a studded leather vest...they were going to be well armored after this. The extra backpack--the one meant for their little alliance in the Factory--he dropped two packs of matches and two of the basic medical kits he'd found, along with the food, though he looked up when he noted Glory getting a little stiff. And when he noted Victoria as well. "Someone forgetting herself? Brass probably won't like it much if you make a liar of him. We're only taking what we were promised, Gorgeous. We might all be just a bit touched in the head and--in my case and your's--too pretty for words, but I keep my word. So do my people. So if you break your's? Who looks bad? Certainly not me. Or mine. Want to be hated and reviled? Go for it.
"I'm just telling you the damned truth. Look in my eyes and see it. So let's play nice for the next twenty-four hours or so, and kill them." With that, he pointed out toward the jungle and the Ruined City. "And then you can hunt us down and attempt to end us to your little heart's content.
"There are only three dead Tributes. Three. That's a pretty poor showing for a Bloodbath. That means there are twenty-one left, and I only count six here.
"You need us out there culling the rest of them.
"So simmer down. We're all doing each other a solid. Two hunting parties are better than one, especially with two locales we need to hit before the rest are gone and we can go all hardcore on each other and give Panem and the Capitol the show they deserve."Playing to the camera even now? That was Jan. 2012-12-03 23:49:29 Jan Colton rolled 10 dice to "Love Me, Panem (Presence: Good Lookin' Tribute?)" 6,7,4,3,2,7,4,2,3,7 (0 successes) 2012-12-03 23:50:08 Jan Colton rolled 9 dice to "Love me, Panem (Manipulation: Manipulative Tribute?)" 10,2,6,10,1,4,8,4,10,1,6,9 (5 successes) "You want us helping you right now, and I'm sure Brass would agree. Having a strategy this first day is a good thing."2012-12-03 23:52:02 Jan Colton rolled 7 dice to "(On Glory) Manipulation + Subterfuge" 4,4,7,4,8,8,1 (2 successes) There's a look to the rest of his Alliance. This could go really badly really fast.

"I heard your fair share." Glory countered. "I see no problem with you armoring yourself and choosing a few weapons. Yet you are filling up multiple bags of gear. I see four people in your alliance."
She looked over to Victoria who straightened up, frowning. "We had a deal, Glory." Victoria said calmly. "Brass didn't quote them a number."
Victoria placed a hand on Glory's shoulder, talking quietly. "... you're acting very tense. Are you certain you're not worried about Brass? You can go check on him and give him the weapons you're picking for him." She eyed the fine sword slung on Glory's back.
"Need to pick up something for Eclypse and Bogart." Glory declared, returning to the weapons rack. A [+3] Axe went into a duffel bag. Glory frowned, noticing that the fine sword rack was empty.
"You took the rest of the swords?" Her gaze swung over to Jan and Ember. It could be noted that six lesser quality [+2 swords were present.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” No beddin’ down with Careers. It’s what got her sister. And Ember wasn’t going to let it get her either. Diadem was Victoria’s mentor. The girl that killed her sister six years ago had given Victoria advice on how to survive the Arena. Ember had to assume that advice included how she won. She didn’t want to find out if she was right. Still, Ember couldn’t help but notice the compliment. She was offering them a spot in their Killing Party. And in the Arena from a Career, that was the closest thing Ember was going to get as a truly sincere gesture. “Thanks for the offer, Princess. I’ll check with my people and see what they think about it,” Ember replied, offering her empty hand. This was the closest thing to a sincere gesture Victoria was going to get from Ember. “Only one thing to do with that,” she remarked darkly, when Glory took a stave. Ember looked at Jasper and was thankful he was handing her another shiny knife. She threw the one she had picked up in the Bloodbath into her backpack. Ember glanced at Isolde and mouthed “BOWS AND ARROWS,” hoping she’d be able to pick those up while she busied herself with other things. Ember noticed Victoria tense but didn’t venture to say anything. She just hoped that she had enough honor to stay out of their way when and if Glory stepped outside their agreement. She had to understand that someone like that was a danger to her. Maybe they would get lucky and Victoria would think they did her a favor, killing Glory. Yeah, and I want to be Queen of the World and wear and shiny hat.Ember walked over to the gear pile and picked up a duffel bag and put together a little grab-bag of gear (3 medkits, 3 Plastic Jars with 6 Iodine Tablets, 3 1 Quart Canteens with canvas pouch with strap for attaching to belt, 2 Fire Lighters, 3 Plastic Boxes with 6 Matches, 3 Electric Lamps, and 3 Night Vision Googles). Ember then shoved two bottles of sunscreen inside the backpack that held the tree climbing equipment and snare wire. She put that stuff in the little pile of bags her alliance had gathered. Ember thought she did a pretty good job sticking to their agreement. But they still needed good so she walked over there and waiting for when this was all going to turn sour. Ember nodded to Jan. She was ready if need be. “Charming’s right. If we get two hunting parties going we cover more ground. That could mean we could end this in record time.”Ember threw up her hands when Glory spoke. “Whoa, you got this all wrong. We took the knives. If you want a sword, take a sword. Take all the swords.” She paused to take a puff of her cigarette. “As for the weapons. I like to have a selection. You know what they say, variety is the spice of life… In this case for those poor bastards out there, the spice of death.” Hit Points: 16/21 Willpower: 5/6

Brass Power, District 2 Male Brass walked with confidence, one hand on Eclypse's shoulder, the other cradling his sword in the nook of his arm, passing the tip of the blade close to the ground in front of him. In truth, he was using the sword as an early indicator for if something was before him like a blindman's stick. Though he moves with a confidence as though he still has his sight, the bloody gash across his face where his eyes used to be would say otherwise. He approaches on the tail end of Jan's speech. "You're right. Strategy is key, and I believe we agreed to divide the loot together. From the sound of it, you've already started that division process. Given my current handicap," he let go of Eclypse's shoulder, "I'm sure you won't mind Eclypse taking my place in making sure the division is fair and down the middle between our groups. Eclypse, if you'd be so kind."Brass twisted his head, listening rather than looking, to the roll of thunder, then pointed. "Tribute. There. Go fetch, but don't kill for the moment, Bogart."He directed his sightless gaze back toward Ember and Jan with Isolde and Jasper. "Fair division of wealth means fair. I assume, by Glory's protest that something is missing from that selection. She has a fair eye, and I assume that she's taken quality into count as well as quantity. Now, being that we're all civilized, and have an agreement I assume you'll be willing to display what it is you've stuffed into bags thus far. Glory," his tone didn't hold any room for arguing, "You do the same."He still hurt, but could wait to patch himself up once this rough patch was cleared. Brass Power rolled 7 dice to "Listening" 9,2,3,7,4,8,1 (2 successes) Brass Power rolled 4 dice to "Manipulation" 2,4,10,8,2 (2 successes)

Glory indicated the weapons on her person first. "The best sword for myself and one for Brass. A set of throwing knives. Victoria has a chest plate [+3], leg greaves [+3], arm bracers [+3] and a helmet[+2]."
"Isolde has two sets of matches, two sets of iodine pills, three [+2] helmets, [+3] Blow Gun, the [+3] Axe and the [+3] chakram."
Ember has three knives, three sets of throwing knives, 4 Iodine Tablets, Throwing Knives (+2), Silver machete (+2), the Basic First, (+2) and the Studded Leather Vest (+3 Armor), Arm Bracers (+3) (placing her other ones in her backpack), Leg Graves (+2), Foot Protection (+3), a helm with visor (+2), Neck Protection (+2), silvered machete Jasper has [+3] bow, one [+3] bow in his bag.." Glory looked to Jan, listing off what she remembered and what she saw on his person.
"Jan has a vest, a hip pouch..." Glory glanced from Ember to Jan. "Ember passed him one of the knives, a set of throwing knives and a silvered machete. He has a bag of sandwiches, 3 cans of the fruit and the pot of lamb stew. He shoved a couple first aid kits in a bag.
"I was going to offer you this +3 axe, Eclypse and you a [+3] sword, Bogart, but they seemed to have vanished into thin air. Fair is fair. You each take a few weapons and the boys who were off taking care of the sevens and fives get a few weapons..."

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy with the Capitol Good Looks
"No sword on me. I've got a couple of knives and a machete....which technically isn't a part of the Wealth, and a machete isn't a sword, anyway. Trust a guy who's used one nearly every day since he was five years old.
"Definitely not a sword."
He was a farmer in the end, just like Jace had been. He would just rather not turn a sickle into a killing weapon. If he won this thing, he needed to be able to work still. He didn't think Jace thought that through in the end.
"We don't need the swords. None of us use them."
Chick was bloody crazy, and if she thought he was going to just lie down and take her crap. She could bite him...or come after him, for all he cared. He'd take his four to her two--or maybe even one, if Victoria was as smart as she was seeming--any day of the week.
Oh look...Brass and his do-boy showed up. Cute.
"First off: Glory was the one who started going through things. We just followed suit. That being said: Your girl decided she was going to try to horde all the weapons..at the exclusion of everything else, which strikes me as a little odd, seeing as there's food and water and armor to be going through as well. She was all but sitting on the weapon's chest.
"Us? We took what we thought was our fair share. Heck...she wouldn't have gone looking for anything other than weapons if I hadn't told her that she was going to need water, food, and a few med kits."
Jan looks pointedly at Glory. "You're welcome, by the way."
And then he goes back to Brass. "...And it looks like you could use one of those med-kits, Brass. Anyway...she didn't start getting uppity until we actually started going through the weapons and distributing them.
"You want to go through what food and whatever we've taken? Go for it. Just know that Gorgeous over there is not at all a forward thinker. Might want to get that looked at in the very near future..."
And then Glory opens her mouth, and Jan has to roll his eyes. "No one threw me a machete, sweet-cheeks. I found it. Over there." He pointed toward a pile of backpacks situated outside of 'The Wealth' itself. "The Med Kits, I took from the same place. I took three cans of fruit--not the full six that are there. Everything else she's saying is true.
"Go out there and raid a few bags. You'll find a ton of stuff I never touched. Left it where I found it for you all to scavenge through because frankly? I can only carry so much.
"I and Mine can't help it if you don't think outside of the box. And I meant that proverbially as well as literally."
Jan looked to Brass again. "I'm sure Victoria and Eclypse will tell you that we left the entire cooler untouched and a good portion of the food is still there. I don't even know what's in the cooler itself. Whatever is out there in the field is your's for the taking.
"I have absolutely no idea what happened to the swords or anything else she's talking about. We took none of it. None of us use swords. I've got two archers and two knife-fighters. The Machete is in case I need to be cutting vines and stuff in that jungle over there." He pointed toward the jungle.
"And I maintain: A machete is not a sword."

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Oh, this bitca has gotta go... Ember thought darkly, shooting a cool look to Glory as she spoke. Victoria was alright but Glory was a four letter word that even Ember didn't lower herself to say. Unless she was talking about her mother. Because it fit. And Ember thought that she had earned the right to do so. “Yeah, no swords,” Ember chimed in. “But I did take an axe. If you want it. Fine. I just wanted to slice up Broody with his weapon of choice. I thought I'd bring it along just case we ran into him.” That was mostly true. And hey, Ember wasn't going to say she wouldn't kill Felix or Sassinak with an axe. She probably wouldn't, though. It would just be unwise assume what she might do with an axe. Ember looked Jan and then took in Brass' condition. For a dead man walking he was holding himself together. If it were her, she'd hand a knife to Jan because he'd know what to do with it. Still, she didn't think Brass would except the mercy kill. That's when she opted out of the argument. “Brass, you should sit. I'll heal you up and we can continue this after.”Ember opened her backpack and took the medkit she had used on Jan out. She looked between the careers, her eyes settling on Victoria. “Can you find a water skin out there for Brass while I set up?” Hit Points: 16/21 Willpower: 5/6

Brass Power, District 2 Male Brass listened, first to Glory, then Jan and lastly Ember. He kept cocking his head to the side, listening to the tussle just past the starting platforms as Bogart wrestled with some tribute who'd not had the good sense to flee in the chaos of the bloodbath. He directed his sightless gaze back to those before him, leaning forward on his sword to take some of the weight off his legs. "Glory, as much as I appreciate your thoughts on getting us weaponry, it was agreed that I, Victoria, Ember, and Jan would divide the loot." He swept that bloody gaze to Jan. "And I agree with you, a machete isn't a sword, but a sword isn't designed for hacking through reeds and vines, as you so aptly pointed out. If another isn't turned up in the gear scattered around, I would appreciate the donation to our team so both halves have the proper equipment to handle the jungle. And being civilized, I know you won't mind Eclypse checking for those swords [+3] that Glory claims to have vanished. I trust our quiet companion will respect and leave your things intact and look only. If you desire, you may check the items Glory has stuffed into a bag as well."He didn't bother adding that just because Jan's company didn't have a swordsman, or axeman didn't mean that they would like to see that weapon in superbly competent hands. He tipped his sightless gaze toward Ember last. "That would be most appreciated. And I will readily accept your aid, in a moment. I believe Bogart is returning with someone else to add to the list of the dead."He turned, facing the sound of Bogart and the huffing and puffing Kingston. Bogart had slugged the district 4 tribute, producing a nice red welt just below the boy's eye, something that would develop into a nice black eye, and directed him forward in a half-nelson hold. Bogart sent the boy tumbling to stop before Brass. "Good job, Bogart. Go check the packs around the field." Brass smiled, bloody from the damage to his eyes. This lion still had teeth and could still bite. He hefted his big langswert up, smoothly bringing it up, around his head, and back down through Kingston's neck. Brass assumed it was his neck given the way Kingston was breathing. Kingston's head rolled back, hung for a moment on a tiny scrap of skin as blood fountained up and coated the corpse before dropping with a thump to the ground. Kingston's body flopped to the side, jerking in death spasms. Brass grounded the tip of his sword and bent, slightly painfully though he hid that fact, and felt for a moment before finding and picking up the severed head. He didn't care who he'd just killed, but knew he'd want the trophy he'd just earned. He'd add Felix and Sassinak's heads beside this one. "Now... I'll take you up on the offer, Ember." He turned back toward her, taking a few steps away from the freshly dead tribute behind him and sitting down. Felt actually quite nice to take a load off his feet and injured limbs. "Do you know what you're doing or do I need to talk you through it?"Brass Power rolled 7 dice to "Listening" 2,7,9,7,4,4,8 (2 successes) <-- to avoid a halfcap or some such thing and get a clean decapitation. As Kingston's player hasn't been seen for a few months... his character's forfeit at this point and Anne agreed to let Brass take him instead of making him explode.

Glory turned and studied the weapons that once held four [+3] swords. As she had only two on her person, she could have sworn that two had vanished while she had been looking over the rest of the weapons. Eclypse joined Glory inside the Cornucopia; and made a noise of understanding as he picked up an overturned box. Beneath the box, two swords had slid down.
Glory removed the sword that she had taken for Brass and offered it to Bogart, who accepted it gingerly. Seeing his torn hands, Glory signaled to Victoria. Victoria removed a medical kit that she had taken and tended to Bogarts' hands, cleaning and bandaging them. The girl from two moved away from Jan and his lot, clearly annoyed with all of them.
"It will take a few days to heal." Victoria cautioned Bogart. 'Unless someone sends us medicine. "
Her words were likely directed to some listening sponsor... Glory gave Jan a dark look for his attitude. Being rebuked by Brass meant that she had no problem leaving him at Twelves' hands. Glory roved the area outside of the horn, rooting through the bags. She selected two silvered machines that she offered to Bogart and Eclypse. She dropped the bags as she moved, choosing only one backpack for herself. She would be traveling light.
Bogart moved behind Glory, checking each pack. He chose one for himself and was seen gathering a set of cook wear. He checked the cooler of food and helped himself to a long drink of water. He began to munch on an apple as he continued to check the gear, tucking one of everything in his pack. He didn't seem very picky. He located five water skins and filled them, passing one to Gory, Victoria, Eclypse and tucking two onto his belt. He glanced towards Brass, clearly thinking to pass him one later.
Bogart moved to the armor chest and donned a chest plate, a bevor, a reinforced helmet and arm bracers. He called Eclypse over who began to gather the rest of the armor.
Victoria moved to the cooler as Bogart departed, bringing over the jug of water. She guided it into Brass' hands. "Some water." She suggested.
Tilting her head, Glory remarked, raising her voice to reach the others who were now twenty feet away. "There we no canons that marked the end of the sevens and fives. What happened to them, Brass?"

The horn As the tributes continued looting the horn or focused on healing one another, another boom of thunder sounded. This was followed by a bright green fork in the sky. The most unusual color for lightning as it was sickly green tinged with mustard yellow. The green cast was taken up by the dark rain clouds that now loosed its big, fat droplets onto the earth. The water was cold and laced down onto the tributes.
A handful of drops had struck you when you noticed an unusual smell in the rain, carried by the wind that began to drive the drops with more ferocity. It was a disturbing smell; like something rotting. It was Isolde who made a sharp cry. She was holding the sleeve of her shirt with had a perfect circle cut into it. Tugging on her sleeve; she revealed a streak of blood on the skin of her shoulder.
"Get inside!" She encouraged loudly, dropping the gear box that she had been rifling through. Duffel bag in hand and backpack on her back, she ran for the cover of the metal horn. "There's something in the rain!"

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Ember took a long slow drag from her cigar and gathered up their alliances gear. They had everything they had needed. Though she was hoping that Glory never found those swords. Still, they were walking away with all of the good knives. That being said, Ember wouldn't let being armed and armored go to her head. Don't matter how shiny the damn knife is. Just how well I you can stick 'em with the point end. Glory would still have to be put down. And quickly. However maybe she'd betray them all and Ember wouldn't have to worry about it anymore. Because after it was all said and done there was only three possibilities of how this could end. One, Glory dies. Two, Ember dies. Or her personal favorite, three, they both die. It mattered little how one sliced it, Ember only had control of what she did. Not what was, is, or will be done to her. “Naw, we're all good here, Champ,” Ember said, nodding toward the gear. “If the Shadow wants to take a gander at our toys fine by me. We've got nothing to hide.” Also mostly true. Ember wasn't a liar and she would more than likely to stab you in the chest than in the back. But even she had her secrets. Not just their agreement with 4, 5, and 7. Ember glanced at Jan, her eyes almost hollow. And then she nodded. They'd have their chance to speak. No, more secrets than just that. Ember's face was neutral when Bogart brought Kingston kicking and practically screaming to their circle. Kingston was in District 4. One of Coral's. And by extension, one of Felix's. And therefore, one of Ember's. Still, she looked completely composed when Brass took his head. Predator. Ember had called it right for once. She looked at Glory and it made her wonder if she was right about her, too. “Brass, you should sit. I'll heal you up and we can continue this after.”She cursed when Isolde made that starling statement about the rain. They had to get cover and now. The hissing of her cigar as the rain did it's damnedest to extinguishing it filled Ember with a sense of urgency. “Charming, Grumpy... Pick up what you can and get to cover. I'll get the rest,” Ember told her people before she turned to the careers. “If you can manage your gear and Brass, I'll get to healing him up once we're inside.”Ember picked up the bags Jan and Jasper couldn't pick up. Once they got inside she took her time stacking their gear into a pile. She cleared out a clean spot for her and Brass. “Step on up, Champ,” Ember said, taking the medkit Victoria had passed to her. “I know a little 'bout healin'. But I might need you to go through the numbers with me.” Ember worked on his eyes and the knife that was still lodged inside of him. Ember Clay rolled 7 dice to "Int+Med+2+1" 9,7,5,10,7,5,10,6,7 (3 successes) Hit Points: 16/21 Willpower: 5/6

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy With the Capitol Good Looks
"There are quite a few out there. Feel free to send someone to go get one." Bogart may be content with being Brass' do-hazmot, but Jan wasn't going to be 'serving' the other Tribute. There was no way in hell.
There was something rather pathetic about the way the other boy was running around doing Brass' errands. Really, it was pitiful, and Jan would be dead before he was on his proverbial hands and knees begging for the equivalent to a 'Good Dog' compliment from the likes of the Careers.
It just wasn't going to happen.
He didn't wince when Kingston lost his head, but a really large part of him was hoping that Jace was waiting there for the other boy to take him to what Jace had only called 'Someplace Better'. What would happen to Kingston's brother and sister now, he had to wonder.
There was nothing he could do for the other boy, and the sort-of sick way Brass was collecting heads?
Jan really, really hoped if he fell that far, someone would put him out of his misery. There was 'crazy', and then there was 'bugsh** insane'.
Brass was the latter, if anyone cared to ask Jan.
And then the rain, and Jan swore when he saw Isolde's arm, grabbing up their bags. "Let's go, Sis. We need cover until this is over."
If it didn't end soon, Jan knew they'd need to find some way to get out of there before the twenty-four hours was up. There was no way they were bedding down with the Career Alliance. That was just asking to get their throats slit.
"I know a little about patchin' people up. Jace was always getting hisself tore up. Just the way he was. All rough-and-tumble." There's a fond smile at the memory before he looks to Ember. "Need any help with that?"

Brass Power, District 2 Male
Brass moved within the Horn and sat down to be worked on by Ember. He knew that sitting there and doing so was a bit of trust, and something he was willing to do. He set Kingston's head down nearby. He'd attach it to his belt later.
He turned his sightless gaze on Glory after she asked what happened with the sevens and fives. "Felix is blinded and hamstrung. Sassinak is missing an arm and a good quantity of blood. They, with Boomer and Lily and Coral are hiding in the factory, behind a locked gate. A hammer of some sort would be useful for bashing the lock off. Of course, the acid rain might solve the locked gate problem for us. I doubt they'll be going anywhere fast."
After answering that question, he set to talking Ember through the proper removal of the knife from his back and wrapping bandages around his eyes. "Thank you. If you're not tired, I'll talk you through my other three wounds... if you are, I can reach those with enough ease."
"Seeing as how we're likely to be here together a while, now would be a prime opportunity to discuss some strategy. Where to begin..."

Isolde had her own pack and the duffel Ember had set her to making and carried them inside the horn. She moved against the back of the curved horn, hiding the bags behind a stack of crates. She sat down in front of the backpack, checking that Jan had made it inside the horn. Jasper scooped up his gear - and the cooler of food- and shoved it into the horn. Jasper took a seat besides the cooler, wiping a drop of rain from his brow. He checked the drops of blood on his sleeve with a frown; but it was a small pain. Bogart and Eclypse hedged Brass in, having Ember face Brass to heal him. Eclypse leans into watch Ember closely, speaking to Brass and Ember. "I have some knowledge. I'll see to that knife in your back. That was the little girl, wasn't it? Crazy girl." Eclypse worked the basics on Brass' back, stopping the bleeding and not doing much else. Eclypse rolled 6 dice to "Medicine (Brass' back)" 9,1,4,2,5,6 (1 successes) Eclypse set the knife in his belt. "That boy and girl are still out there. Lots of the little ones cut and ran. We should decide who to go after first. Now that was a good lock. Bogart here gave it a solid knock and only dented it a wee bit. It may be easier to brave the barbed wire." Eclypse gave a little smirk. "I suppose its debatable even going in there. The girl should bleed out and the boy be picked off by the fives, if they have any sense. We could have someone work around the fence to keep them inside and they'd die of thirst in two days." A glance to Glory and Brass. "Unless someone wants their heads.""I don't want them at our backs." Glory stated. "What happened to your eyes?" Glory crouches beside Ember, keeping her eye on Ember, Brass and Eclypse. Victoria took a seat besides Jasper, opening up the cooler. Without a word, she begins to prepare meat sandwiches. She passes one to Bogart, Eclypse and Glory. She walks one over to Brass, pressing it into his hand. She sits down with her own sandwich and gestures for the others to help themselves. The rain continues to fall steadily. One of the abandoned sacks is sizzling and smells terrible. In the time it takes for Jan, Ember, Brass and Eclypse to converse, only the straps and a glittering silver machete remains. The straps sizzle, slowly decomposing.
