A cornucopia of traps, trickery and trials await 24 (un)lucky participants in the annual Hunger Games. Who is friend and who is foe? One thing's for certain - the only person you can truly trust is yourself...
The premise of this roleplay will be to take on the role of one of the tributes from districts 1 -12 and enter the brutal arena. Reading through the book has prepared you for the difficult choices to face: from your initial strategy at the cache in the beginning to forming alliances. #27th Hunger tributes TAKENTaken Characters: District One: Riven Tanzanite played by Lite District One Male reserved for Jake District Four: Zale Sewell played by Quinnteller District Six: Olivia TullyDistrict Six: Caleb Hunnington played by Kulvar Open Tributes: District Two Female District Two Male District Three Female District Three Male District Four Female District Five Female District Five Male District Seven Female ~ PC Mentor ~ District Seven Male ~ PC Mentor ~ District Eight Female District Eight Male District Nine Female District Nine Male District Ten Female District Ten Male District Eleven Female ~ PC Mentor ~ District Eleven Male ~ PC Mentor ~ District Twelve Female District Twelve Male Step One: The Character BuildThe character design will be a Mortal build from World of Darkness. You create the character as normal with a history and personality, but you build your character with a limited number of experience points. Your history needs to justify your skill points and merits. If you have the WOD Core book; you will use that. If you don't know WOD system, post your questions here or PM me for how to build your character. Don't be shy about asking questions here or PMing me. We will use a full mortal build with Merits. Tips: I advise registering for a site that offers the free creation and storage of your character sheet: sheetgen.dalines.net/wiki/WikiStartSelect World of Darkness It will show you a sheet to fill out and save. In this rpg, we will have NWOD sheets so that you *know* whose the strongest, fastest and most intelligent. If you've never done sheets before, don't let it discourage you. I invite every one to come to the shadowclaw.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=hunger&action=display&thread=9082 Character sheet work shop where a group will help you work out the details of the sheet. You have plenty of time to get every thing right before the next Hunger Games. Training Center will begin as soon as we have six writers. The training center will last at least two weeks as characters are finalized. There will be one compulsory exercise and the rest is what your character decides to do. There will be a Mentor thread to meet with your mentor & district partner. There will also be Lunch to meet with rivals and potential alliance members. You move between training, mentor and lunch at your own pace. FightingFighting will be done by the WOD style where you make a roll and must accept its outcomes to judge how well your character did. HealthThe stamina attribute will affect your hit points. Health will be adjusted to be Stamina + 5 X 3. Healing
As the anthem plays, half of your damage will heal every night. Successful medicine rolls and use of med kits will heal you. To joinAppearance:Please write at least two paragraphs describing what your character looks like. History:Please write at least three paragraphs describing what has happened to your character. This is a good way to introduce how your district has influenced your character. Details on districts are here: thehungergames.wikia.com/wiki/DistrictYou can also discuss your character's family. Tributes can buy tessarae for each member of their family after their 12th birthday. Buying tessarae is grain for a family member; but adds your name to the entry for Hunger Games with his tessarae. This week only there will be district threads up so you can interact with your character's district and neighbors Submit this form to this thread. If you have any questions, post here.

I'll take the District 1 male if you wouldn't mind.
Is the reduced health system in #26 not carrying over to #27?

May I present, Olivia Tully; District Six Female Tribute for the 27th Annual Hunger Games. BIO: Olivia is the youngest child of Jonah and Mira Tully. Her family has deep ties to the Rebellion and have been a prominent force in the on-going Resistance Movement since the Dark Days came to an end, with her grandfather Axel Tully being a key figure in the faction, and her brother, Paxton a fairly new initiate. Even Liv, herself has been known to do an occasional courier run, or assist her mother in medical procedures on resistance member. So she's learn when not ask questions and just listen. Her father paid the ultimate sacrifice, dying publicly at the hands of a firing squad by on the orders of the Capitol for his work with the resistance movement. However, before he passed, Jonah trained them as he was trained to always been prepared for the worse. It was something that continued after his passing. Though, Olivia thought her childhood was good, there was a lot of turmoil with her family. Especially, between her two older brothers, Paxton and Calum. It got worse when Calum became a peacekeeper and Paxton joined the resistance. DESCRIPTION: Olivia stands at about 5'5" with a muscular build and has stocky arms and legs. She doesn't look like a fighter but instead she looks like someone who hasn't shied away from a good day's worth of work. Her skin is a pale almost porcelain white, marred only by the occasional freckle, which always looks is sharp contrast to her flaming red hair. Her eyes are an icy blue and she keeps her hair long; about shoulder-length. PERSONALITY: It’s really hard to get an honest read on Olivia sometimes. It’s not that she is dishonest and for the most part she is straightforward. Liv's also very self-aware and knows a great about how people operate. However, she fears some of the darker aspects of her personality so Olivia keep’s others at arm’s length. Though, this is not always the case, especially with people she deems to be "hers." She comes off as cold but Liv will defend a friend as if they were her blood, and will do whatever it takes to keep those she cares for from harm. Bio to be added to once Kulvar and I work out our characters' relationship.

Here's my tribute, Riven Tanzanite. Let me know if I need to make any changes to her basic info. I put it all in spoilers because I got a bit too involved in her history. xD Riven was the first born child of Bounty and Leonidus Tanzanite, and had always been a daddy’s girl. Her father had been well trained in the art of fencing, and mentored his eldest daughter to follow in his footsteps. However, as she advanced in this skill, her father grew envious of her fast learning and became cruel and belittling towards her. He entered Riven into a fencing competition in order to make a fool of her, but she emerged victorious. With a win under her belt, Riven excelled further in the art of fencing.
Leonidus, wracked with guilt and envy towards his daughter, turned to drink. His own fencing skills became sloppy, and soon Riven sought a new, more appropriate trainer. She learned a variety of new techniques, and soon abandoned her foil and learned to wield a real sword. Her new tutor trained her with a variety of different weapons, but Riven always preferred swords and knives over archery or hand to hand combat.
Throughout his daughter’s success, Leonidus’ drinking became an addiction. He crawled the streets of District 1 late into the night, making a spectacle of himself. On more than one occasion, Riven’s mother was forced to collect her husband and withdraw back into the shelters of their home. But one night, the Peacekeepers of the District decided that enough was enough. Swiftly and silently, they disposed of him. It was classified as a random disappearance and nobody dared delve deeper into the cause of it.
Having always loved her father, regardless of his actions, Riven’s entire world came crashing down. She abandoned her training and resorted to street brawls with the other teens of the District. On more than one occasion, a friend of hers would recommend she volunteer for the Hunger Games that year. Riven didn’t want to; she knew that she had a fighting chance at winning given her experience with weaponry and fighting, but she didn’t feel that she should tempt fate.
However, life in District 1 became a bore. No one would fight her, and she didn’t want to take over her depressed mother’s jewellery manufacturing business. Riven left school and decided that she would pursue her training once again. She was going to volunteer for the Hunger Games in two years, unless she was chosen before then. The training was rigorous, but holding the hilt of a sword brought back the feeling of power that had been aching in her body for four years.
At the age of eighteen, Riven volunteers for the 27th Annual Hunger Games in place of her closest friend, Amethyst Padlock. Her hunger to kill was made stronger when she learned that her father had been murdered. She would take twenty three eyes and make the whole world blind. True to the meaning of her name, “to split or tear apart violently”, Riven brings havoc and destruction with every step. Her cutting and spiteful nature caused people to fear her, and only those would could match her strength would dare face her. Others became her friend simply to be assured of safety from her wrath. As a child, all she had ever wanted was to become an expert in the art of fencing, but both her father’s cruel and malicious ways and his mysterious murder caused her to become callous and unapproachable. Trust is not something that Riven sees as important; she trusts only herself. However, she is able to manipulate people through their fear or admiration of her strength. She constantly strives to impress people, and assumes that the only way of doing so is demonstrating her strength. Her voice is cold and piercing, and the kindest she will ever sound is sarcastic. However, she is a pained person, who finds it hard to deal with the mention of family, and will avoid the subject at all costs. Riven is could have been attractive, beautiful even. But when she lost interest in fencing as a sport, she lost interest in her appearance. Her long, brown hair was cut down to the bottom of her neck, and is tied back every in almost every circumstance. Her height and stocky build cause her to come across as intimidating, and her face is tainted by many battle scars. The most prominent is a painful looking gash down the side of her face, from just above her eyebrow to the corner of her mouth. She prides herself in her scars, always wanted people to see them. Riven’s entire stance shows that she knows she’s powerful, but can also make her look like a fool. Behind her back, people used to laugh at the way she would strut along the streets. Of course, Riven cares not for what people say about her. However, she is easily overestimated. Someone who looked into Riven’s emerald green eyes would see the pain and sorrow that lies beneath them, and that the brawn and the muscle is her way of dealing with the anguish in her past.

Barring a couple skill specialties and merits... I present to y'all: Caleb HunningtonBio: Caleb was born to Sophia and Kristian Hunnington. He’s the middle child of three with one elder sister (Eliza, 19) and one younger sister (Rebecca, 12). His family has done its best to stay firmly in the middle ground of many a conflict. They’re compassionate, loving folk, but borderline pacifists. During the Dark Days, Sophia and Kristian had actively avoided siding with either the resistance or the Capitol. They saw survival through playing the middle ground. When Olivia’s father was brought to the town square to be executed quite publically, those not actively working on the latest Capitol car were required to be there, Kristian told Caleb “That’s why we don’t resist.” Caleb’s response had been to break away from his parents that fateful day and go to the grieving family and became fast friends with their daughter of his age. Much to the chagrin of his family, who felt his fraternization with the disgraced Tullys was a betrayal of their family beliefs. He was almost glad when, at 14 and a half, he got a job as test driver for the transportation track as it gave him a legitimate excuse not to be around his family. The sole exception being his younger sister, Rebecca, for whom he’d do just about anything about. When he, at 15, came out to them that he was in love with Olivia, Rebecca was the only one to express a joy for what was developing. The rest of his family condemned him, as they continued to disapprove with his association with Olivia even though it was many years after her father’s execution. Description: Caleb stands 6’1’’ with a lean, lanky build. He doesn’t look like a fighter because he’s not one. He’s thrown a grand total of four punches in his 17 years of life (3 to defend Olivia’s honor and 1 to stop a bully from picking on Rebecca). His fingers bear the calluses of someone who’s done a lot of manual work or more than his fair share of climbing. He keeps his brown hair cut short so as to keep it from blowing into his crystal blue eyes while testing a new car. He’s got a very light tan most of the year, though when winter months come around, he pales almost to the same porcelain as Olivia. Personality: Caleb could be described as a thrill-seeker. He enjoys the chase, and running, and feeling the wind in his hair which is why he practices parkour and why he thoroughly enjoys his job testing new cars and believes the faster the better. With other people, he’s a compassionate and kind. He is a little standoffish with his family, his younger sister aside, but is otherwise well liked. He’s extremely loyal and once decided you’re his, there’s little he won’t do for a person; though he has just as long of a memory for those who’ve betrayed that trust.

“My soul is in the sky.” --Zale Sewell (IRL: William Shakespeare) Sheet: Zale Sewell of District 4: The Fortune Teller's Son.Appearance: [/b][/color]Zale, physically, isn't all that imposing, nor does he stand out too much. Outwardly, he's painfully normal, if a bit lanky and svelt. He has dark brown hair that highlights itself with blondish streaks during the height of fishing season, as he's out and about a lot then, and ice-blue eyes that for all their beauty are downright disturbing to most. Because Zale looks through you, and one may get the impression that he sees things that others never do. Listens to things that others can't hear. Reads you the way no one ever has.... Spooky, he's been called. Just downright spooky. Honestly, 'weird' is a bit more like it. History: Zale is the youngest son of one of the fishing families of District 4. The Sewell's have three children, and as his father puts it: The Heir, the Spare, and Zale. Zale, who was born and raised for the Slaughter. Because that is what the Games are. A Slaughter. Zale has never in his life ever believed any different. To believe any different is to lie to yourself, and Zale has never lied to himself. The way he figured, he owes himself that much. The Sewells are fisher-people, but Zale has always taken after his mother. The story goes that his father and his mother were 'meant' for each other. So said The Cards, as she read them when his father passed by. The rest of the family think it's a pretty story, and maybe it is, but that doesn't change the fact that he's inherited his mother's sort-of otherworldliness. Zale has spent many days learning the Fortune Telling Trade...when he wasn't learning to fish and swim and murder people in their sleep. Because Zale knows.... ...He was raised for the Slaughter. Raised to maim and kill. Raised to be ruthless and somewhat detached. Raised to die in the Games so that someone elses beloved child never has to. Personality: Zale is spooky. There's really no other way to put it. He's spooky and thoughtful. Stares too long at the oddest things and the most random people, and cleaves to his Deck like a security blanket. His way of speaking sounds like riddles to anyone who doesn't bother to take the time to try and understand him. There is no doubt though. Zale is a Believer. He Believes in The One. Believes in The Cards. Puts all his faith into them, and will not hesitate to follow the path he feels has been set before his feet, regardless of where it will lead him. Because under all that spookiness and thoughtfulness, there's an odd sort of 'peace' to Zale Sewell. The sort of peace that doesn't show up in a seventeen year old boy very often... ...And in a Tribute from a Career District? Never. Sea Chanties:My Jolly Sailor Bold
