Slayer Trials is mainly about struggling through dark times, and the strength of people working together to overcome those dark times.
Here's what we don't want in Slayer Trials. No over-angsting, no godmoding, no immortal or superpowered characters and no vampires gone good or with Queen of the Damned style abilities. Illyria and Faith are kick ass because they are so rare- high school drop outs and warped community activists are just as welcome, if not more.
When we say-war zone, and Season Seven Buffy x 10 that's what we mean. The populace at large has no idea whats causing the current conditions; they blame gang turf fights, they blame youth violence, they blame political mind games, its your general he said/she said about what is going on.
The Resistance are the only ones in the know aside from a scattered handful of humans in power that tend to be working for the First either willingly or not. Its hard to refuse when they know where your children are...
The First is currently playing for the long game. No sudden onslaughts and massacres, just a slow and gradual expansion and control over everything before It unleashes Its last strike and takes everything all at once. The Bringers execute swift elimination of whomever threatens the First's plans. Potentials, Watchers and anyone who Resists being the three main targets.
Life is mostly as normal for the unaware; for example children still attend school, albeit ones like bad school in urban cities riddled with gang violence; yet another sign of the First Evil's influence choking the planet. Thats where the Resistance comes in. Welcome to Durham Springs - the current base of operations for the resistance.
You may have up to two characters each. You can choose to let a character be killed and create a new one anytime during the RP.

APPLICATION Name: Amelia McCabe Age: 22 Gender: Female
At the age of ten; Amelia heard her parents murdered during a Bringer raid. The purpose of the raid was to discover and abduct young girls like herself. Her parents had hidden her in a bolt hole; where she remained for the remainder of the night. Upon emerging, she was hidden away by a Resistance operative. She was sent to live with her Uncle in England. Her Uncle was a Watcher in the Watcher's Council and was able to provide Anelia with more protection than the average parent.
Appearance section: Eyes: Green Hair: Red hair has a wave and is cut at shoulder length Height: 5'8 Any identifying scars? None
History
A. Family:
Amelia was born to Dale Alan McCabe and Katherine Elizabeth Woodward. Her father had moved to the U.S. from England as a young man and married her mother, a native of California, in 1980. Amelia has one paternal uncle - Phillip McCabe along with his wife, Carol McCabe. They have one daughter, Megan McCabe, age 24. Her paternal grandfather, Phillip McCabe Sr. is a man of eigthy five.
On her mother's side; her grandmother Dorothy Woodward gave birth to six daughters and a son - Georgine, Barbara, Donna, Ellen, Katherine, Virginia and Richard. Of these seven children, two were abducted from their parents. Donna and Ellen were captured in a raid by Bringers at the age of ten and twelve; presumably being held in a containment camp in Durham Springs. Amelia's Grandparents made the difficult decision to separate the children in the hopes not to lose more to raids. Barbara was sent to live with relatives in California. Georgine and Virginia moved into a Resistance Headquarters front beneath a bookstore in the same city. Richard and Katherine were raised by thier parents; who thankfully endured no further raids.
Georgine and Virginia are active Resistance members in Durham Springs. Georgine eventually became trained as a nurse, married Delwin Creighton and gave birth to a daughter; Donna Anne, age 30. Ginger, as Virginia became known trained as a book retailer and business woman. Ginger married Charles Singer and gave birth to two sons, Justin age 21 and Kevin age 19.
B. Training Any training with weapons? Yes, she knows how to wield stake and crossbow. Posesses rudimentary hand to hand combat skills Any training with fighting styles? Amelia has been trained in hand to hand combat, cross bow, stave and the mystical powers of increasing a Slayer's concentration.
Any training with magic? Yes, Amelia is a Power Level 2. Her abilities are Scying and Telekinesis Academics Amelia has had training at the Watcher's Council to train the current Slayer. She is young for the job; but was originally born in the United States. The thought is that she may relate more to the Resistance and they to her.
Job: Watcher
Bio: Amelia was raised by her aunt and uncle in London after her American parents were murdered when she was ten years old. Her uncle was a Watcher who dissaproved of his brother, who had moved to America to be in the warzone, married & started a family instead of staying with the remnants of the Council. In defiance of her uncle she snooped through his private libraries and discovered that witchcraft had long been a family trait.
Feeling close to her parents, whom in retrospect she realized were practiced magic users- she immersed herself in witchcraft by the age thirteen. Her uncle was appointed to a young Potential by the name Yvonne at that time and the two girls became good friends, inseparable from then on. When the girls were sixteen an especially viscious vampire with a fetish for Potentials raked through the Watcher's Council. This vampire was searching for Potentials and found and killed three. Yvonne was the last girl who fell to the vampire.
Amelia was traumatized by seeing her friend die and dedicated her life to the eradication of vampires. Blaming herself- and the failure of her magical strength to save Yvonne- Amelia redoubled her efforts to heighten her magical ability.
As a young woman, she also befriended and insisted on participating in the training sessions for the Slayers in Training. While not possessing the supernatural grace and calling of a Slayer, she resolved to hone her body to the brink of a natural woman's possibility.
As she aged, she followed in in her uncle's footsteps and became a Watcher to her uncle and aunt's joy. She is still a practicing Wicca, having especially honed her skills at the Wiccan arcane texts and telekinesis.
Recently she has travelled to America and began training Tobias, only to discover the plot around him is thickening and pulling others into its web. Amelia looks forward to meeting her maternal family.
Gear: Amelia wears a golden heart shaped locket with a photo of her parents - a smiling, gregarious dark haired man and a pretty redheaded woman with short cropped hair.
Weapons: Amelia prefers a compound crossbow that has with a quiver of fourteen bolts. She carries two stakes in the strap of the quiver, one concealed in the bottom of the quiver.
Magic User - Power Level 2/5 Abilities - Scying, Telekinesis

Name: Samuel "Sam" Vidal Age: 18 Gender: Male
Appearance section:
Eyes: Blue Hair: Black Height: 5'10" Quote: "Machines have workings, and they just...speak to me." Background Section[/u]
Family: The only family Sam has left is a paternal uncle. The man is a mechanic, as far as Sam knows, and has raised Sam from the age of 8.
Any training with weapons? Sam can use firearms with relative skill, as his Uncle has made sure of his training. The world most certainly isn't a safe place. Any training with fighting styles? Basic self-defense. He has the ability to escape from grapples and such, but he's no Chuck Norris. His training here has been limited to the ability to get away and run for help. Any training with magic? Not much, as he's just sort of developed what he can do, and doesn't even see it as a real 'power', perse. Just a strange empathy he has. Any training with academics? Mechanics. Mostly vehicles and other machines, but he's always felt an affinity for computers, and wants to learn more. Much more. Job: Mechanic Bio: Sam lived in England for a good portion of his childhood. From the time he was born until he was eight years old, he lived on Westerfield Manner--his mother's ancestral home with his mother's family. Growing up, it was a given that the women were 'in charge' of the day to day things, and as a boy he was taught how to ride, how to fence, and how to fire a gun. He was also in the process of learning a bit of hand-to-hand fighting.
One night, he was woken by his father late, and put into a car wrapped up in a blanket and with a pillow. He hasn't seen them since, but his Uncle told him that his mother and father--along with everyone else--was killed in a fire that tore through the manor-house merely days after Sam left. Like all children, he mourned, but he was resilient, and was able to shake off the sadness of it relatively quickly.
Since then, he's lived with his Uncle and has learned a trade--mechanics--though he's always been the sort of boy to take things apart and put them back together. He's eighteen now and it's been ten years since he's come to live in Durham Springs. Our story finds him working for his uncle, and trying to get a handle on this new weird thing he can do....
(Unbeknownst to Sam, his mother's family were an old magical family. The women carried within them the power, and as such the men were charged with the protection of their wives, mothers and daughters. The family was wiped out by agents of The First ten years ago, and so far as anyone knows, the Westerfield Bloodline is dead and gone.
Michael Vidal (The Vidals were also charged with the protection of the Westerfields)--Sam's Uncle--began noticing his nephew's odd abilities--and did a bit of research. Sam is the last of his mother's line, and the magick had to go somewhere. Magick has a mind of it's own, and does what it will. It lives. It breathes. It changes, and most importantly: It evolves.
He's likely gotten into contact with the Resistance as a means of trying to protect his last living relative. Sam has no idea what he is and that what he's doing is magick. He merely thinks it's a gift.)
Gear and weapons: A sword. A gun. A journal of his mother's and a pendant that belonged to his father. Clothing. Personal effects. Restored car. Laptop. Tools.
Magic Index[/u]: Mechanical Empathy: Machines speak to you. Sam is capable of putting his hand on the hood of a car or on the side of the toaster or whatever, and 'listening' to the machine without it being active. Doing this, he is able to extend his consciousness into the machine, and learn how it works, and if there happens to be anything wrong with it.
Technomancy: The term technomancy refers to an imaginary or fictional category of magical abilities that affect technology, or to magical powers that are gained through the use of technology.
It is a portmanteau of technology and -mancy, a suffix used in magical sciences to refer to specific types of specialization or divination (-mancy is derived from the Greek manteia, meaning divination).
Include Power Level - 2/5: Mechanical Empathy; Technomancy

Nice to have Amelia back for the reboot Anne. She's accepted. I'll have to redo Tobias shortly and let you judge that app in return.
Quinn, I have to confess I'm a little uneasy with regards to the technomancy given that magic and technology never really mixed in the Buffyverse aside from one early episode that I'm aware of. In fact they had a whole season with magic vs technology being the theme and I'd safely say technology lost that confrontation.
It also seems a little broken that Sam can put his hand on an unpowered inactive machine of unknown purpose or origin and then suddenly know how it works and how to fix it.

Wasn't Jenny a techno pagan? They even used a computer to do a spell once. She used computers and magic as far as I know.
