Conrad finds the cave untouched, noticing the scuffle marks that had led him to the fighting girls. Conrad lays her down within the dark cave. The sound behind him signals Chisel's arrival. The other tribute hangs back, standing about twenty feet from Conrad and Cypress. The sword is in his sheathe and he lifts his hands to show he is unarmed. He is somber and quiet, half turning away from you and your grief.
The pack that Cypress had carefully packed at Cornucopia makes a good pillow. Laying her down, she looks as though she could be sleeping. Standing up, you know that this isn't going to take long. Chisel has sought you out; but he does not approach the cave. Letting you grieve?
Chisel awaits Conrad, his sword in his sheathe. When Conrad turns to him, he draws his sword.

If Chisel was expecting talk, Conrad was unforthcoming, drawing both his swords in silence. Redness marred Conrad's skin where tears had flowed freely moments before as he moved into a combat stance Chisel had seen not long before when he was allied with the non-deceased Buckley.
Conrad whirled into action, both blades moving in deadly harmony as he whirled and struck at his final opponent, his eyes empty of emotion.

Chisel makes a swear that will make him unpopular with the mothers of small children as he felt the blades cut in. He looked like he had expected a bit of conversation. Anger flashed on his face and he made a valiant attempt to return pain, tit for tat. His sword angled to seize Conrad's already wounded leg, making a notch in the skin of Conrad's knee.

The pain from the wounds to his legs starting to flare up again, Conrad changed tack, thrusting forward with his swords, forcing Chisel to back up quickly unless he wanted a pair of punctured lungs.

Chisel did back up - farther than Conrad intended. Chisel lopped into a quick jog, leaping over a stretching vine athletically. He sprints away, stopping some thirty feet from Conrad. The career faces you, squaring up for your next attack.
"I'm sorry she died," Chisel shouted across the distance to you. He seems sincere, there's genuine emotion in his voice. "- I'm sorry she died, too." You realize that he refers to Vibrance, the cousin that never left the ocean. Yet Chisel stands straight back, owning the pain that glistens in his eyes.
"The girls we thought were worthy of being victors are dead. They got us now." He gives a wry smile, as though insinuating the Capital got the raw end of the deal.
The muscular tribute makes a 'come on' motion with his hand, his sword already readied for a blow. He would make you come for him with your wounded leg. He's not a bloodthirsty lunatic, but he's not stupid. Chisel won't make this easy on you.

The dark, unyielding mask over Conrad's emotions cracked momentarily, mirroring the same pain in Chisel's eyes for a brief instant.
"Cypress was brave right up to her last." Conrad spoke. "She died peacefully with her friend by her side. I'm sorry Vibrance didn't get even that. She deserved better."
Slowly and laboriously, Conrad made his way over towards Chisel's position, taking his sweet time in doing so, stopping just out of reach of Chisel's blade as he readied himself.
"Race ya home."

There is a quiet in Chisel as he regards Conrad, giving him a short, succinct nod. They had started as uneasy allies. They weren't going out as an alliance; but there was some understanding between them. It pertain to swords.
Chisel danced forward, attempting to earn his crown. The sword made a shallow cut on Conrad's wrist - was he targeting your sword hand?

Conrad hissed, thankfully keeping hold of his sword. Recalling the earlier incident with Buckley, he swung his swords in a vicious arc towards Chisel's neck.

A shallow cut forms on Chisel's neck, causing him to leap back. His fingers brush his neck, checking the shallow wound. It was bleeding profusely and a hallow look entered Chisel's eyes. Perhaps he was recalling Buckley's death. Whatever was going on in his mind, it inspired a vicious counter attack. Hot blood drops from his wounded neck splattered against Conrad's armor as Chisel rushed forward, driving the sword into Conrad's thigh. The pain was immense. Yet Chisel was right there, so close to Conrad's own chest.

There's an odd sensation as he drives his swords forward- Chisel's armor catches one of them, stopping the motion of Conrad's arm. Yet the attack causes a fissure that the second sword slides through like warm butter through bread. The sword hilt became slick with hot blood, pumping onto Conrad's hand. Chisel coughed once, a dark red globule of blood dripping down his lower lip.
The muscular tribute stumbled and pitched forward, crashing onto Conrad. With Conrad's wounded leg and cut thigh, Conrad had a moment of panic as he fell beneath Chisel's body weight. The hilt of the sword lodged in Chisel's chest came away from Conrad's hand, the other swords falling somewhere. Conrad shoved himself upright, causing Chisel's prone form to roll off of him and onto the jungle floor. The mist jungle floor covered with moss stretched around him, becoming wet with the blood welling from his many wounds.
Conrad had no weapon. Glancing over, he sees that Chisel slumps unnaturally on his side, Conrad's sword hilt glistening with wet blood. He had no need of a weapon, not any longer.
The voice of Claudius Templesmith rains from the heavens.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to present to you the victor of the 24th Hunger Games, Conrad Miles! I give you - the tribute from District 7!"
You are victorious. Glancing upwards, you see the hovercraft descending towards you, dropping a ladder to whisk you back to the Capital. Finally, you can leave this cursed arena forever.

He wasn't climbing that ladder in his condition. Any minute now he'd be hoisted away... but he wasn't going alone. Painfully Conrad dragged himself across the jungle floor, a trail of blood left in his wake. He heard shouts and the sound of movement, but continued his course, stopping inches from his goal as a white boot impeded his destination. Stretching out, he grabbed the leg, a desperate "Please... don't leave her..." escaping his lips before before his vision went dark.
