As you approach the horn, you come into a green and gray world. Rolling green hills stretch out from your platform, creating a circular area of green forty feet in all directions. The area is flecked with mature green trees. Thirty feet to the north, a cluster of them make a gray, shadowed area. Thirty feet to the east, the trees are more numerous. Something gray rises in the hills farther to the east, too far to make out clearly. It appears to be a spire or perhaps a towering building. The east seems to hold the only avenue out from the rolling green hills.
The Cornucopia is a towering structure that gleams gold in the afternoon sun. The structure stands nine feet high at its tallest point and slopes down to about three feet high at its lowest point. The temperature is around sixty five degrees. It may be slightly cool, but the day promised activity that would get the blood pumping.
As Ember, Lily, Jan, Boomer and Isolde approach, they clearly see Eclypse standing five feet from the horn. He appears to be stretching. He wears his tribute uniform, his helmet, chest plate and arm bracers. A small pack is resting beside his foot. Ember had already noticed Brass from afar and in looking up, she noted that one of the metal chest from the horn has been set up atop of the horn. Most of Brass' body is behind the chest, but she can see a pack of a dozen arrows and Brass' giant sword sitting slightly behind the chest.

Boomer: District Five Male Tribute, “The Crafter” Boomer was standing by the stretcher full of their gear. He took Ember's bow and quiver as she didn't want to go into the fight carrying things she didn't need just yet. Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Ye though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil for thou art with me.Cinder had been the true believer. Ember had been the doubting Thomas. But in this moment she prayed. If only to be closer to her fallen sister. "This is it, Charming," Ember said, she took his hand in hers and squeezed it. "Whatever happens... don't let them take me. You don't have to burn me... just make sure I'm never theirs." She kissed him, not caring about the audience. She was about to die... possibly. It didn't matter who was around now. Because Jan would always be hers. Always... And never. She looked at Lily, Isolde and Boomer. "Ladies and Boom-Boom, it's been a pleasure. If you find Felix and others and I'm dead, give my best to them." Ember grinned before she made her way to the horn, pulling her scarf up over her mouth so only her eyes were visible. "Well, it's good to know you're not that much of a coward. You ready?" Ember lit one of the last two cigars she had and nodded. None

"I'm ready." Eclypse side stepped five feet back, watching Ember. When Ember closed the distance, Ember's alliance and Brass would be ten feet from the two combatants. It was clear Eclypse wanted a little breathing room for this fair fight. He now takes up a fighting stance - one Ember recognized. The girl from district twelve spots her knifes twin in Eclypse's hand. It would appear both tributes had brought the right knife for this fight. Isolde glanced up at the horn, frowning. She took three steps to the back of the horn, looking it over. The girl from district nine noticed that the lower edge of the horn - where one would have to climb to reach Brass - had barbed wire string over it. She rejoined Jan, whispering. "It'd be hard to get a shot at him." Brass has created concealment. Due to the height and the durability of the metal, he has - 4 to hit with ranged weapons.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Ember's grey eyes darkened, taking on a sinister glow. Her mouth was covered but Eclypse could probably guess that she was grinning. Lets see who's better."Good." Ember said, noting his stance. It appeared that he had been holding out on them. Which was fine because he was about to learn something about Ember, too. She wasn't right handed. Ember charged forward, staying low to the ground until she closed the distance. Then she raised herself up and sliced at Eclypse exposed neck, slicing a hot red line down the left side. Ember Clay rolled 10 dice to "Called Shot to Neck" 1,3,9,7,5,2,10,6,6,6,4 (2 successes)

Ember's blade slices across Eclypse's neck like a warm knife through butter. She's pretty certain this wound is substantial. Without medical aid, he shouldn't be able to fight for long. A trickle of warm blood trails onto her hand from her knife. His shining armor starts to become flecked with his blood. Eclypse dances forward, his small knife flashing. His moves mirror Ember and she quickly realizes that he is also practiced in the same knife style as herself. Ember dances back from his blade, but presses in. His small blade arcs down onto her left hand. A large gust of blood shoots skyward as the blade cuts right below her elbow. Her separated arm falls down to the ground, pulsing with blood. 2013-02-14 06:06:40 Eclypse rolled 4 dice to "FINAL ROLL 11 - 1 (called shot) - 4 (def) - 2 (for Ember's Armor)" 10,4,9,9,3 (3 successes)
Ember quickly realizes that this is a bad wound. If she can't finish this fight quickly, she could bleed out. What she needed was medical aid from one of her allies, but wouldn't that be cheating? The question became could she outlast Eclypse? Defense: 2

As the fight between Eclypse and Ember took a horrific turn for the worse to the Wolfpack's chances, Lily stared up at Brass, the Career almost mocking them with his high ground advantage. That was his plan? Leave Eclypse to potentially die for him while he hid like some coward? No... if she did nothing else today she was bringing that smug swine back down to earth. Pulling one of the toxin-coated throwing knives from her jacket carefully, she judged the distance between her and where Brass was. She had to admit, he had sheltered himself rather well up there on the Horn. Trusting her fate to whatever happened next, she hurled the knife into the air, praying it would strike true... Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” For just a second, Ember was starting down at her arm. Her knife arm. No, that couldn't be right. But knew that it was true, that it was gone. However, even with the blood pouring out, Ember didn't make a sound. She just looked at Eclypse and took the knife from her detached hand. It was still warm. Blood had stained her lower half from the stomach down. Ember could feel herself getting woozy. She knew she was dying. And that was fine. Because she was so tired. So very tired. And she wanted to rest. But there was just one thing left to do. Just one more thing and then she could rest. Ember bit down on the cigar and managed to take a puff as she clenched the knife in her right hand. If I die, we go together, Eclypse...Ember took one step forward and mimicked her attack, adding another one. The slice to the neck was a good one. But Ember wanted to end this on a powerful note. So when she pivoted Ember stabbed Eclypse in the neck. "When you get to the otherside, make sure you tell them it was Ember Clay that sent you there..." She said as she yanked her knife out. Ember Clay rolled 10 dice to "Called Shot to Neck" 8,8,7,3,6,8,1,10,9,9,6 (6 successes) Ember Clay rolled 9 dice to "Called Shot to Neck" 1,6,4,1,6,9,5,6,9 (2 successes) Ember's def is 3 until her next attack

Those cuts are making an inpact. Ember can see Eclypse's eyes burn. A well of unshed tears collect in Eclypse's left eye, but he doesn't fall. That hot blood is pumping now. A hot spray of it coats the green grass, making it slick underfoot. The two knife fighters side step towards the left, automatically choosing the best footing. Eclypse's chest plate is now coated with a slick of blood, it splatters underfoot with every move that he makes. Yet the young man isn't done yet. With dexterity he had not revealed to any one, he dances forward with a two pronged Slash and Stab attack. "Same here, sweetheart. But make sure you say Eclypse - with a 'y'."
Eclypse rolled 8 dice to "FINAL ROLL 11 + 3| 14 - 2 armor- 3 defense (called shot -1 for torso negated - 1 for second attack" 4,9,5,6,4,5,6,6 (1 successes) Link 2013-02-14 06:09:01 Eclypse rolled 9 dice to "FINAL ROLL 11 + 3| 14 - 2 armor- 3 defense (called shot -1 for torso negated)" 1,1,5,3,3,5,4,5,6 (0 successes)

Brass' muscular arm emerges, holding the curved edge of a bow. His string snaps with a 'TWANG!', sending an arrow into Lily's left shoulder. The wound is thankfully superficial, but Brass is on the move. He begins to slide down the horn, away from Lily - and closer towards the ground. Brass rolled 11 dice to "Shooting Lily " 3,4,6,2,4,3,6,9,6,4,5 (1 successes) "We need to help her!" Isolde hissed to Jan. "She's going to fall unconscious... and die... soon." The girl from district nine upended her pack on the ground, hurriedly grabbing the medical kit. She glanced warily at Eclypse, preparing to move in but awaiting Jan's advice.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” She was dying... She was dying and Ember wasn't scared. She wanted this. No, needed this. Because this was her destiny. It had been all along. She had been dead for the last six years. But the odds had been cruel. They made her live. And so she trained, waited, bided her time until she was stronger enough to accept her fate. And this time the odd were fair. They were taking the right sister. I'm coming home, Sister... Tears welled in her eyes. I hope you were right... I pray that I really do get to see you again... Ember swore she could almost hear something in the distance... Someone humming... No... Singing. She could almost hear the words but it was to a song that she wasn't familiar with. "Well do... But after you." She heard Isolde and yelled. "You hold, Sweetpea... I want this..." She mirrored her last attack. With no sign that her last attack had even connected much less done any damage and with no medical skills whatsoever, all Lily could do was stay alert for any more arrows flying in her direction.
Hopefully if she had hit, Brass would feel the effects of the toxin soon.
[Lily's defense is doubled to 8 until her next turn]

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy Who Would Watch the World BurnJan could only watch. More than once, his hands twitched around the hilts of the knives he was holding. More than once, his feet shifted. The only thing holding him back was that Ember wanted this. The cuts and the hits were brutal, but this is what she wanted. Jan stood there. Unable to do anything while he watched the only real thing he'd ever had--for however short a time he got to have it--was being systematically torn apart. He once thought he died when Jace did, but this was it happening all over again. Watching. Unable to move. Unable to act. Unable to do anything. This time, because she didn't want him to. Because she wanted.... Because she wanted. "Help me, Izzy." It sounds more desperate than he wants it to. When Eclypse falls. When Ember starts to. When Brass shoots at Lily... "Lily. Boomer. Watch him. Kill him if you can manage it." Jan snatched the medical kit out of Isolde's hands. He'd apologize later. "Help me, Izzy."
You and me have had issues, The One....but please let me remember everything Ma taught me about this. Please...Tears were blurring his eyes, even as he worked, his hands surprisingly deft as he did it. As he cleaned cuts. Attempted to try and at least save her hand--even if it weren't possible. "Stay with me, Sunshine." He whispered, even as he could swear he felt the west wind caress his cheek. The west wind... "It's not quite time yet....not quite time...Not time yet, Little Brother. I need her." And the Capitol never have her, the useless fops. She's mine. 2013-02-14 23:25:50 Jan Colton rolled 10 dice to "Medical Help (2 + 2 + 3(Willpower) + 2 (Med Kit)) + 1 (Izzy)" 3,6,8,3,5,7,6,9,4,7 (2 successes) 2013-02-14 23:26:33 Jan Colton rolled 10 dice to "Medical Help (2 + 2 + 3(Willpower) + 2 (Med Kit)) + 1 (Izzy)" 6,2,5,10,7,6,1,5,10,3,4,2 (2 successes) 2013-02-14 23:27:03 Jan Colton rolled 10 dice to "Medical Help (2 + 2 + 3(Willpower) + 2 (Med Kit)) + 1 (Izzy)" 8,10,3,8,5,6,8,7,4,7,1 (4 successes)

"We never did decide about this whole 'stopping the fight to heal one another if we get really badly hurt'." Eclypse noted dryly as Jan and Isolde hastily worked to save Ember. It was a touch and go situation for a few minutes as blood continued to gush out of Ember's stump. Yet as the minutes ticked by, Ember slowly was bandaged up and the bleeding was brought under control. It was such a nerve wracking experience that it drew the eyes of Ember's alliance. It was Lily, watching Brass, who first noticed something unusual was occuring at the same time as Ember's healing. The metal chest that was effectively blocking any good shot at Brass was moving, shifting towards the edge of the horn. A helmet popped up briefly, as though vaulting onto the horn from the ground. This second helmet vanished behind the metal box. Lily was aware that the two careers were now in the same location for the next few moments, thier actions unseen by thier cover. Lily saw the curve of the bow reappear a few seconds before a second arrow grazed her left arm. At this time, those around Ember began to notice the arena around them - specifically that Eclypse seemed to have vanished and most likely was atop of the horn with Brass. That one attack was forthcoming suggested that Eclypse was refraining from openly attacking Ember's alliance. What would your alliance do now? Was Ember committed to continuing the fight? Was Lily plotting something? Your character does not know this IC, but I like placing the rolls Eclypse rolled 8 dice to "Medicine (Brass' back)" 5,2,9,3,5,1,4,9 (2 successes) Eclypse rolled 8 dice to "Healing oneself" 2,5,4,8,8,1,4,9 (3 successes) Brass rolled 7 dice to "Medicine (binding neck)" 8,2,4,10,8,1,7,8 (4 successes) Brass rolled 10 dice to "Medicine (binding neck) [wp]" 3,10,3,7,5,5,3,10,2,5,7,3 (2 successes) Brass rolled 11 dice to "Shooting Lily " 4,3,1,8,5,7,5,6,5,2,1 (1 successes)

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Ember's eyes fluttered shut and she fell to the ground. Then there was darkness. And Ember Clay welcomed death. She was standing in a field of golden wheat. A strong wind was coming in from the west. It was warm welcoming. It made Ember smile.
But she wasn't greeted by the boy who rode the western wind. Instead she heard her sister's voice.
"Emmy..." Tears welled in her sister's eyes. "I never wanted this for you."
"I never wanted this for you either." Ember replied.
"Yes, but the odds are cruel." Cinder said.
Ember nodded. "I know. Sometimes they make us live."
Cinder smiled as it was the last thing she had said to her sister before she boarded that train to the capitol. "It's not time for you yet, little sister. You have to go back. Even if it's only for a little while longer. They still need you. He still needs you."
Tears rolled down Ember's cheeks. She knew what her sister was talking about. And although she didn't like it, Ember understood. She had to go back. "Stay with me, Sunshine." Ember could hear the pain in Jan's voice.
I'm coming back... Just hang on...
She met her sister's eyes once more. Grey eyes. Seam eyes. And the only thing that marked them as relatives. She could see that Cinder was happy, whole, and content. That was good.
"You and that boy... You have a very special bond. It goes beyond this life time. And it will endure. Even the Games won't break you apart. Cherish it, little sister."
Ember nodded. And Cinder continued.
"Ember before you go, this vendetta against district one... Let it go. I don't hate Diadem. She was doing what she had to, what she was trained to do. You and her aren't so different. Be aware of that. Career and non-career it makes no difference. The only thing that separates us from committing great evil acts is the right set of circumstances.
"Remember, you are strong, you are intelligent, and you are loved. That's more than Diadem had. That's more than some of those careers will ever get. You are blessed. Even in the Arena."
Ember tried to nod but she couldn't. It was so strange. One moment she was standing, the next she was falling. She could see everything. The horn. Jan and Isolde. Lily getting hit with an arrow. Twice.
And then again she was swallowed by darkness. Ember could hear Jan's voice and that's what made her open her eyes. She raised her good arm and touched his face. "Charming... you brought me back..." Ember's alive. yay!

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy Who Would Watch the World Burn
He ignores Eclypse.
And he trusts Lily and Boomer.
It wasn't something people would think in the games, but if your alliance could be upfront and honest from the beginning--about how things were going to be, of course--then you could make it through everything. Through Careers. Through whatever those mutts were. Through the hunger and the thirst...
..Until the end, when it was just a few of you left, and you gave the Capitol a hell of a show.
The longest minutes of his life were spent on the ground in his fathers arms after hearing that his brother wouldn't be coming home. The most exhausting moments of his life had been sobbing into his mother's shirt before he just...exhausted himself so much he fell into a dreamless sleep.
The longest moments of his life had been his hands moving over Ember's wounds, trying to save whatever was left of her. Trying to bring her back. In the end, he was exhausted and nearly sobbing, but he was rewarded with her hand on his face, and her somewhat smiling up at him.
'Charming. You brought me back'.
"As many times as you need me to, Sunshine." It had taken everything he had in him, but he'd done it. Even if it were shortlived. There were still so many problems they had to deal with, but this one?
For now, it was better.
"We need to go. Now. Let's let Captain' Sucks-A-Life' deal with that sucking wound in his throat. Let's see if his sponsors can fix that."
There's a sidelong look to Boomer. "Watch them. They start to come after us, throw...one of those exploding things at them." They needed a new camp. And water.
Don't be where they expect you to be.
"Izzy. Watch my back." It was a request, and he picked Ember up. "We're leaving. Now."

With a parting middle finger in the Careers' direction (Lily hoped Brass had fun listening to his helmet describing that to him) Lily prepared to retreat from the battlefield with her brethren. So much for their grand plan Lily thought, grabbing one end of the gear stretcher.
"Boomer, let's beat feet." she whispered. Last thing they wanted was to lag behind the others and they needed to move before those dozy Careers slipped down the Horn again.

There was little movement from the horn as the group moved away. As they had left most of their supplies, they would need to return to gather it. Isolde retreated more slowly, her bow leveled at the horn. She notched an arrow when Brass' bow appeared, but he merely surveyed the groups' retreat. Isolde held her fire, continuing to walk backwards slowly. It was Boomer who noticed the orange haze on the horizon. As the sun was already above them, he frowned. "There's something... odd happening!" He reported to Lily and the others. "An orange haze on the horizon." As soon as he spoke, the 'orange haze' began to crackle and pop. It advanced quickly, covering a dozen yards in ten seconds. The wall of fire was now a mere twenty yards from the horn and advancing. The group could see that the wall of fire stretched across the entire arena, advancing on the horn, the factory and the ruined city equally. "Fire!" Isolde shouted, lowering her bow and beginning to run. "Run!" Hello every one! This is the start of an event. Please make 3 athletics + stamina rolls and add your suxx together. You are aiming for 5 suxx to successfully make it to the factory. 4 suxx gets you in front of the fire and arriving at the factory next turn. You can post to the fatcory again

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Ember groaned when Jan lifted her. Her hand hurt. Not her good hand. No. The one that she no longer had, hurt. Hurt like it was still there. She could swear she could feel it. Phantom pains. Some of the miners would get them when an accident took their limbs. They'd feel their missing appendage for months... even years after the accident. As Jan carried her, Ember rested her head on his shoulder. She lifted her head up and kissed him on the cheek. The old Ember would have felt this whole thing was an affront to her strength; her character. But this Ember... all she wanted to do was sleep. Then there was the heat, and Ember could see the wall of fire coming toward them. Ember held her breath as Jan ran. None, Ember's being carried by Jan.

Lily gave a grateful silent thank you to the heavens as the group moved away with no opposition from the Careers, and then promptly took it back again when Boomer shouted about the orange haze. Lily was grateful her last drink had been a while ago, because if she had drunk recently, she'd have caused her own private river at the giant wall of flaming death bearing down on them. A second word of violent profanity escaped her lips as she grabbed the end of the stretcher once more, screaming for Boomer to get a move on in her panic.
