Then you are led to a large room that contains several stations. On the fair wall, a long table holds several men and women wearing expensive robes with the symbol of the Hunger Games emblazoned upon them. These must be the Game makers who will be rating you at the end of the week. As you move into the Training Center, you walk by these training stations: - Animal Identification
- Archery
- Axes
- Boxing
- Blowguns
- Camouflague
- Chakram
- Climbing: The climbing station features a rock wall, a rope climbing excercise and a tree saddle where you practice scurrying up trees
- Edible Insects
- Edible Plants & Medicinal Plants
- First Aid
- Fire - making
- Hand - to - hand combat
- Knots
- Shelters
- Slingshots
- Spears
- Swimming (complete with an indoor pool)
- Sword Training
- Stealth
- Throwing weapons (thowing axes and knives)
- Tracking
- Tridents
- Weight lifing
In addition to these training stations, you spot three obstacle courses set up in the far end of the room. - One appears to be a vertical challenge of jumping high distances and climbing irregular rocks while infrequent weather changes such as gusts of wind or buckets of hail rain down.
- Another appears to be a large wooden block under water, marked with six designs on interlocking wooden blocks.
- The third is a Tree Course: The last tree course appears to stretch between six tall trees, spaced about nine - twelve feet apart. Each tree has some attachment - a rope, a perch, likely meant to propel one to the other tree.
Tributes filed into the center once they'd had a decent break after breakfast. Willow and Pan entered as a pair, circling the center and talking quietly together. Young Psyche and the tall Isaac enter next, pausing by the shelter building station. They don't commit, glancing around at the other stations. "Hello," Ashlyn greeted Riven. "We were herded to bed before I could answer you yesterday. I hope I didn't seem rude." Ashlyn gave Riven a friendly smile. Ashlyn was a head shorter than Riven, but muscular and confident. A brown haired boy moved towards Ashlyn and she waved him over. "This is Brad, my district mate." Ashlyn introduced. Brad smiled and gave Riven a nod. "How do you do." He inquires politely. "Hello." Iris says in passing to Riven, Ashlyn and Brad. Iris is tall, lean and beautiful. Her form has begun to resemble a woman that will grow to be striking; if she survives these games. Her smile is sweet and sincere. Her doe eyes are brown and lovely as she looks between the three. [Striking Looks: Beauty] Sam is solidly built and dwarfs the trim girl as he approaches. "Good morning." He greets the group.

Olivia was holding Caleb's hand as they entered the Training Center. She hadn't slept well the night before. Despite sneaking into Caleb's room. She had gotten a few knowing grins from the attendants. But honestly it wasn't like that. It could have been. But it wasn't like that. They actually slept. Because Liv slept better with Caleb at her side. She was having nightmares of losing him. So waking up to Caleb's arms wrapped around her, helped her get at least a little sleep. “I'm going back to the sword station. Then I think we should both do some survival training. I'll meet you at Edible Plants & Medicinal Plants once we're done... Unless you have a better idea.” Liv said. She waited for Caleb's response before she kissed him. Liv wasn't one for public displays of affection but they were trying to make Panem fall in love with them. And that started here with these tributes. If they could sway some of their hearts, then they had a fighting chance with the rest of the nation. So she played it up and pictured them alone without an audience, kissing him as if that was the case. “For luck...” she added in a whisper. “... because we're going to need some.”Then she walked away, heading toward the sword station again.

Caleb Hunnington, District Six: Noble Hearted Martyr "The sky wouldn't light up without my girls in this world." Caleb moved into the Training Center with Liv, still rubbing a hand against his eyes. Sleep had come late, and well after Liv had joined him in his room. Truth be told, he had remained awake until she'd drifted off into a fitful sleep. And even then, it'd taken him longer than expected to join her in that fitful sleep. He had nightmares of going home. Home without her. Of dying, certainly. But the majority of his bad dreams involved killing and holding a bloody, cold, stiff Liv in his arms. Waking with her in his arms had been the best thing he could imagine when he came to. He nodded to Liv and her suggestions. A sleepy smile crossed his face. "That works for me, darling." He wrapped his arms around her and gave her a tight hug. He knew they would need the luck. The kiss he returned to her was for more than luck though. He knew they had a limited time... and he enjoyed the feel of her lips against his. "Because I wanted to. Love you. See you at the Plants station."He moved away from the entrance and walked back to the Archery Station. He smiled at the trainer, the last dregs of tiredness washed away with Liv's kiss. "Hey there... Caleb again. Ash, right? So... Where do we begin? I missed the hay bale once yesterday... is a 50% hit ratio good for your first time?"

Riven Tanzanite: District One's Volunteer for the 27th Hunger Games, The Anguished Fencer "Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals." Riven entered the Training Centre and stretched her arms. She was going to make this day a productive one, spent at the sword station. If she could, she’d spend time at the weight training too. It was time to get down to business. She turned around and smiled straight back at Ashlyn, “Good morning,” She greeted, “No to worry, I thought nothing of the sort.” Riven nodded and smiled again, before turning to Brad, smiling and nodding back, “Very well, thank you.” These were Ember’s tributes. Riven turned to Iris and Sam, nodding and taking in Iris for a moment. “Good morning.” She responded with a smile. She was smiling a lot, these days. It felt odd. Being so… Smiley. Her eyes scanned the group of Elevens and Twelves, “I am going to excuse myself to the sword station. Please, feel free to join me. If not, then I would enjoy all of your company at my table at lunch.” Riven was trying not to come across as though this should be like a celebrity had invited them into their home, “There are matters we should all discuss.” Her eyes lingered on each of them in turn, before she nodded and turned around. On the way sword station, Riven noted someone elsethere. A girl, the one from District Six. She picked her brain for a moment. Olivia. She and her District Partner were extremely close, Riven recalled. She nodded her way, “Good morning.” She greeted the girl on her way to collect a sword, “It’s always a welcome surprise to see someone share my interest in swordplay.” Riven said with a genuine smile, before nodding again and turning to the instructor. “Shall we continue where I left off, Gemma.” Riven nodded to the instructor, picking up the same sword as before, and leading herself to the dummies she had been at before. Her first attack was a deadly strike, straight through the neck of the dummy. A wicked smile crossed her face, and she cockily lashed out at the hip of the dummy, barely scratching it. She faltered for a moment, glaring at the side of the dummy. It had been her own fault. She had gotten too confident. Riven re-adopted the correct stance, and struck a blow to the hip again. It wasn’t nearly as horrifying as her first attack, but it was adequate. She looked at Gemma, “How did I fare?” She asked. Riven would accept constructive criticism. -Not wasting any time: I want those dots in Weaponry and Strength before the Bath. Olivia told the trainer Hello once more before she picked up the training sword. The large sword was out of the question but a smaller sword would be more effective. At least she could lift it. The counterweight was nothing like she had ever experienced. A sword felt differently than the chain whip she was used to using. Olivia practice the parrying move as her trainer batted at her. It wasn't real, but she told herself it would be soon, and that helped keep her focus. Then it was her turn to attack, and Olivia missed. When a frown she lowered her sword. “What did I do wrong? Maybe I'm not holding it right?” Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Str+Weap" 6,6,2,4,6 (0 successes) "Hello Olivia, Riven." Gemma greeted. "Welcome back. Lets continue where we left off." "No, you're holding it fine. Here," Gemma corrected Olivia's stance. "- when you move in, put the force in the blow from here. It will add some nice force to the blow. Practice that stance - swing once and step back. Then move back into the stance and attack again. You want this to feel like second nature." Gemma awaited Olivia's attempts and commented then. [comment to come after CLM's post. Gemma won't ignore Olivia to watch Riven] "Riven,' Gemma stated approvingly. "Lets add some difficulty. Take up your wooden sword. Lisa?" Lisa - another trainer - offered Riven a padded shirt to put on. Only if Riven dons thee protective padding do Lisa and Gemma pick up wooden swords and approach Riven, leading her to mats away from Olivia. Lisa attacks from Riven's left flank; Gemma from the front. Riven must dodge and decide whom to attack... [Riven, one post - dodging or attacking]

It is a sword that heals." It was pleasing to have someone who knew what they were talking about compliment her on her sword technique. Riven glanced over at Olivia, and knowing she couldn’t touch her, decided to merely speak. “Think of the sword as a limb. You don’t hold the sword, you wield it, just as you would an arm or a leg.” She informed the girl with a smile and a nod, “You show promise.” It was all she would say for the moment, as her mats were being moved away. Riven donned the protective gear and picked up the wooden sword. She watched the two instructors advancing and turned the sword around in her right hand. Riven looked from Gemma to Lisa, and exhaled slowly. “My love, you’re too fast to attack. Allow them to give you an opening.” With a small gasp of air, Riven adopted a defensive position to dodge an incoming attack. With Weaponry Dodge, Riven’s defense is now 6.

Zale Sewell; District 4's Male Warrior for the Battle: The Fortuneteller's Son "What is dead may never die." Everyone seemed to be going back to what they were doing the day before. Zale, on the other hand, decided against spears. It was never good to over-extend oneself, and he would not be the sort of Tribute who was a 'one trick pony' Yes, he was technically a Career Tribute, but Zale knew he was the sort to break the mold. It was why he headed toward the Edible Plants station, interested in what he could possibly learn here. It had to be useful in the Arena, after all. Two years ago, the District 9 boy had kept himself and the boy from his own district alive for days on little more than what he found gathering plants in the woods. "This one knows some, but I would like to learn more, if it pleases."

“I wouldn't say it was a shared interest. I just don't want to die. I've gotta get my boy home.” Olivia said with a nod. She gestured toward Caleb at the Archery Station and then turned to Riven. “Good morning to you all the same.”Liv paused and studied Riven for a moment to see if she was sincere in her politeness. Then she took out the training sword and listened to the instructor. “Thank you.” Then Olivia did just as she was told to. One attack, then a step back. Then another attack. Both she gathered were superficial blows. But at least she had hit the target. “How was that?” Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Str+Weap" 5,7,1,7,9 (1 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Str+Weap" 1,8,3,2,2 (1 successes) Olivia Tully rolled 7 dice to "Wits+Empathy+1 (Reading Riven)" 2,5,5,5,9,6,4 (1 successes)

Caleb Hunnington, District Six: Noble Hearted Martyr "The sky wouldn't light up without my girls in this world." Caleb's smile faltered for a moment as Ash didn't respond. The time for training was growing desperately short and he didn't feel prepared. He didn't feel ready to defend Liv. He forced the smile back into place before moving up to the line. He picked up the same bow he'd used yesterday and a pair of arrows. It couldn't hurt to test where he was and how well he remembered the lessons of the previous day. He drew back the arrow and launched it, watching it sink close to the middle of the hay bale again. He smiled to himself and quickly did the same again... almost, it hit the hay bale this time at least. Maybe he should slow down next time. "What do you think? How can I improve?"Caleb Hunnington rolled 8 dice to "Shooting Arrow 1" 5,1,8,10,7,6,4,9,9 (4 successes) Caleb Hunnington rolled 8 dice to "Shooting Arrow 2" 6,1,2,5,4,4,10,1,1 (1 successes)

Caleb: Archery
Caleb felt Ash's presence return as Ash departed from Iris, the beautiful girl who seemed to be at a loss with a bow. Iris attempted to shoot at the bow and missed wildly. Her second attempt nearly skewered a passing trainer.
"A moment!" Ash hastily requested of her, gentle taking the bow from her hands. "I'll be back with you in a moment.."
Iris blushed, coloring her honey complexion in a lovely manner. Sam paused beside her, inquiring if she was all right. Sam gave Caleb a smile and a wave. "Caleb," He greeted. "-I'll see you at lunch." Iris whispered something to Sam and he glanced away. "Apologies..." Ash stated to Caleb. "Some one had my attention when you arrived. Now.. fifty fifty isn't terrible. I would say we need to practice the basics."
Ash led Caleb ten feet closer to the hay bale. He had Caleb draw and helped him improve his posture and correct his breathing as he released the arrow. When Caleb released the arrow at Ash's request, he noted that the arrow was much closer to his untended aim.
"The skill of archery is one of patience. " Ash encouraged. "Try again."
"It wasn't terrible." Gemma encouraged. "Its hard to learn something with just a few moments. You've learned to parry and a proper form. Now we'll pair it with an offensive skill." Gemma guided Olivia's hand closer to her body and demonstrated how to ward off an attacker with the tip of the blade. "When they come in closer - Lisa? -"
Lisa obliged by invading Olvia's personal space. Gemma guided Olivia's hand into making a quick swipe towards Lisa. "Use your arm and cut to where the person looks vulnerable. When you improve, you can try aiming at particular body parts. You see how Lisa is force to move back when you use your blade across her path?"
Without warning, Lisa stepped in and whacked her wooden sword against Olivia's. Olivia was forced to react quickly and without direction.
[1 weaponry roll]
As Riven dodged, Lisa's sword sliced over Riven's shoulder. A sharp whack caught Riven in the arm from Gemma's wooden sword.
"You have good reflexes." Gemma encouraged. "Lisa, work with Olivia. I want to see if Riven's able to hit me square in the chest."
[Weaponry with - 6 (def + called shot)]
Zale
"Excellent. I am Luke." The portly trainer introduced himself. "We'll start with some basic plants you can find around water. You're from district four, so you know sea weed is edible if not delightful. The cat tail is a common one. The rhizomes are a pleasant, nutritious and energy-rich food source. The water caltrop -" Luke led Zale to a aquarium where several plants were growing.
"- is this floating plant. It grows in slow moving water and its flesh can be eaten. The water spinach, this one-" Luke pointed to a leafy green plant. "- is a semi-aquatic tropical plant grown as a leaf vegetable. Its quite nutritious. Many factors go into whether plants in the arena should be eaten, such as environmental factors. When in doubt, cook the plant.
What type of plant would you like to learn about next?"

Liv's heart was threatening to beat right out of her chest. Her breath quickened, her eyes widened in terror. To Liv this was all too real. This was hell. So of her fire died at the thought of clashing swords with Riven or anyone else. She shuttered to think what it was feel like for that sword to pierce her skin or the One forbid someone to do that to her or Caleb. Liv could heal a bullet wound just fine. But one from a sword... She didn't know. Lisa's sword came to her and Olivia let out an audible yelp but she did as Gemma had taught her just seconds before. “I'm sorry... That was just unexpected...”Olivia Tully rolled 5 dice to "Str+Weap" 10,5,4,2,2,8 (2 successes)

"Thats precisly what you need to do." Lisa stated to Olivia as she rubbed her arm. "Very few people will announce that they are going to attack you and you need to get your weapon up. You must be able to react like that."
Lisa beckoned Olivia towards a training aid - a man sized cloth mannequin that had electronic parts, causing its arms and legs to move. It was tethered to a pole but could move independently, apparently following a pattern.
"This moves fairly quickly," Lisa gestured to the mannequin. "- I want you to try to hit it until you get a strike in that you're proud of." {As many rolls as Liv wants - Moving, so its -2 mod}

She was used to the pain of real weapons, so the wooden swords were more of a bother than much else. But she heard Olivia’s yelp, and Riven glanced over before focusing back on Gemma. She lunged forward in a strike that she knew most like wouldn’t be all that damage, but landed it all the same. “A difficult attack.” Riven noted as she tensed and relaxed the hand holding the wooden sword. "Very few people will announce that they are going to attack you..." Was it too much to ask that they all did? Probably. The One wasn't that nice. And honestly, Liv didn't think she'd be that gracious if everyone just laid down their weapons and let her and Caleb walk out of the Arena as Co-Victors. It's just... I'm 17. I don't want to die. I don't want Caleb to die...She rolled her wrist, twirling the sword. Her natural finesse shining through. She was more agile than she was strong. Liv took a deep breath and nodded to the trainer and got to work. The first attempt was a miss. Then three hits that were just like every other attack she had laid. It sucked away her confidance and she missed twice again. “Come on, Olivia... This is for Caleb and Rebecca...” She took a step back and waited. Waited until the dummy was right where she wanted it. Then as quick as a snake, Olivia strikes and it was seriously powerful blow. Riven"It is difficult," Gemma agreed. She danced forward and pressed Riven, her sword finding Riven's at every turn. The two combat for several seconds. Gemma was clearly chosen to be a trainer for her excellent skills at swordmanship. When Riven began to tire of the constant press of Gemma's attacks, Gemma steps back. She keeps her sword held defensively in front of her. "Do you wish to continue to spar?" Gemma challenged. [Does Riven wish to continue to practice? Same mods, two rolls for the next two rounds ![:)](http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/1.gif) ] Olivia"That is precisely what I hoped to see." Lisa replied with a pleased smile. "You have the ability to use a sword to defend yourself. You started off shaky, but how do you feel now that you've seen what you can do?" Lisa took of a fighting position in front of the dummy and demonstrated all that she had taught Olivia - the proper stance, how to parry a weapon and a broad attack. "Do you want to focus on anything else?"

She had no bet on someone being as skilled, or even more so in this case, than she. She watched Gemma’s movements. “Another round.” Riven nodded, before lashing out forward. And missing. Riven faltered for a moment. She had missed. She looked down incredulously at the wooden sword in her hand. Riven hadn’t missed a shot since… She couldn’t remember. Her eyes moved back up to Gemma and she adopted a fencing stance. Riven pushed forward with her sword, pushing all of her might into an attack which landed and would have dealt adequate damage. Looking around the room, Kris took in the sights and sounds of Tributes hard at work. In just a few short days’ time, they would all be fighting for their very lives. Things had gone rather well yesterday, but it was time to kick things into high gear and figure out where his combat strengths lie. His eyes landed on the spear station, and thought that it was as good a place to start as any. ’Medium reach, and can be used as a ranged weapon under the right circumstances.’ He approached the station and gave a polite bow to the attendant.

How did she feel now that she could see what she could do? Not good. All she could imagine was her sword cutting through one of her fellow tributes. The thought made her stomach do flips and she was in danger of losing her breakfast. “Better,” Olivia lied. “Thank you for you time. But I have to get to a survival station. Edible Plants I think would be best. So if there is nothing left of the basics. I have to go. Again, thank you.”If there was nothing more to learn, Olivia would head to the Edible and Medicinal Plants station.

Riven & Olivia Sword training station
Gemma was watching Riven and noted the girls' reaction to her miss. "No trainers from your district here," She said quietly so that the others could not here. " - here, we train you to kill - and not to be distracted when you miss something. Theres going to be distractions, Riven. You've never seen someone die. Watching on television is very different to hearing it... to seeing it unravel before you. To see it and recover - as you recovered from a miss- keeps you alive. Focus on what you came to the Games to do."
Gemma rubbed her chin where Riven's sword had connected and smiled. "You're ready to move on, Riven. You'll be amazing in the Games"
Olivia
"You're free to go." Lisa encouraged. "May the odds be ever in your favor, Olivia." A sincere, genuine smile follows Olivia as she departs the sword station.
Zale: Edible Plants
"There are so many non aquatic plants... thats sort of vague. Here, walk with me."
Luke led Zale among potted beds where various plants were growing. There were leafy greens, pretty flowers and even some unappetizing roots that have been unearthed and lined up on a table.
"What looks best to you?" He asked Zale. "This -" He led Zale to the plate of roots. "- can be found almost anywhere in a wooded area. Would you like to learn about them?
You would cook them by putting them in a pan over fire until crunchy. The roots you can boil in water. Some make lovely tea. Yes, there are plants like that. What sort of medicinal plants would you want to find?"
As Olivia approached, he welcomed her with a wave. "Hello. You and I can go over aquatic plants in a moment, I showed Zale here some of them. Lets talk about roots... You may recognize these." Luke pointed out a group of carrots and yams. "- these are considered roots and are very tasty. " Luke handed Zale a carrot and Olivia a yam. "Go ahead." He encouraged.
"Here are some vines. This is the potato bean - a nice dark green leaf plant that grows edible beans. Look at these beans." Luke pointed out the fruit that grew from 6–12 cm.
Luke looked along his assortment of plantsm his eye catching on a red blooming flower. "Any one interested in learning how to make flour or jelly? There is a plant here that can do that." "Very healthy and good to add to anything that you're cooking.
Kris: Spear Station
"Hello. I am Linc. I'll show you some more advanced techniques. Would you like to start with hand to hand combat or -"
Linc threw the spear that was in his hand down range into the center of a target. "- how to perfect throwing the spear?"
Kris was led to the range where three spears were placed on the divider of the range before him. He could see three targets down range and several on wires that must move when activated. There were also suspended dummies to simulate opponents while learning new techniques.
Caleb: Archery
"Yes," Sam grinned good naturedly. "I'm going to check out shelter building." He touches Iris' back gently. "Be careful."
He gives Caleb a wave as he departs.
"Not bad. You're improving. Now the hay bales not giving you much fight." A smile. "Come to the range. We have some moving targets. Lets start with a slower one..."
A press of a button and one circle target of a bulls eye begins to move back and forth on a wire.
"Now you want to anticipate where the target is going to be." The trainer encourages Caleb. "Moving adds such a challenge. Take your time and anticipate the target. Take a few shots."

Riven Tanzanite: District One's Volunteer for the 27th Hunger Games, The Anguished Fencer "Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals." Riven gave Gemma a respectful nod, “I understand. Thank you, Gemma.” She placed the wooden sword on the rack and stepped back, giving the instructor a small bow as she departed from the sword station. She wasted no time in directing herself to the Weight Training station. “Hello, my name is Riven Tanzanite, and I am the Volunteer from District One. I’d like to train with the weights, if you please?” She introduced herself to the instructor before looking at the station.

Olivia could feel herself brighten when Lisa smiled at her. It appeared that her grandfather was wrong about one thing; not everyone in the Capitol was complicit in the government's actions. It made her wondered; if the trainers truly knew how the districts truly felt about their involvement in the games would their attitudes change? She pushed the question aside as she headed over to the Edible and Medicinal Plants Station. With a quick glance over at the Archery Station, she could see that Caleb was doing well and appeared to be close to completing his training there. That means they'd be together right before the called for lunch. That brought a genuine smile to her face. “Hello,” Olivia greeted the trainer. “I'm Olivia Tully of District Six. My mother's a healer back home. I know a few of the plants we use but they are all for minor aliments. And as my boyfriend tells me, it never hurts to learn more.”

Kris couldn't help but feel a little intimidated at the ease with which Linc hit his target. 'That's exactly why I'm here, so that someone like Zale doesn't do that to me...' he thought to himself. On the outside, however, his composure was as cool as could be. He offered a small, courteous bow to the station attendant, and introduced himself. "Kris Linkletter, District 3. I'd like to make the spear my weapon of choice, so I'll end up doing both. Why don't we start with the hand-to-hand training, to get a feel for the weapon before I go throwing it away."

Riven: Weight Training station
"Hello," Greene, the weight lifter trainer, approaches Riven. "- I'm Greene and I'll be helping you today. I see that you're interested in this station. How about we try a lifting exercise to see where you are right now." He points to three various medicine balls. "How about you try lifting this ball and carrying it five feet forward and placing it in that basket." Greene points to a basket four feet off of the ground. It would be a test of lifting and carrying the weight...

Kris: Spear Station
Linc nodded his agreement with Kris and walked over to a table. He picked up a metal staff and handed it to Kris. "We'll work with this for a few moments." He explained to Kris. "The business end will be this side." Linc gestured to one side of the metal staff. "Now you want to stand like this." Linc adopted a stance with his feet shoulder length apart, his staff held horizontal to the floor.
"When your trident is level across your body, you can respond to whichever direction the attack is coming from."
Linc made several parry movements by shifting the ends of the staff.
"Now I'm going to jab at you with this. Counter by striking the tip of the staff away with yours."

Olivia
"Ah, so these should be old friends to you." Luke shows Olivia a tray of herbs and small roots.
"Why don't you identify some that you recognize and explain what they do."
It would reinforce Olivia's knowledge and share it with Zale.
