The beach is a flat, sandy area that stretches a half mile west from the Cornucopia to the Tidal peninsula. It has access to the ocean for swims to Island 1 and Two. It has no shelter any where about, only yellow sand. It does have some interesting aspects as a place to comb the beach for driftwood, shells and sea weed. One can also hunt the beach for food such as crabs and turn to the sea for mussels and fish. Quick individuals can also bring down the sea birds that flock here.
Willow, Pan, Brass, Faith and Shepard await their alliance. Brass has taken out a pair of pliers from his tool set and walks towards the Bath, searching for his wounded tributes. He has removed his backpack containing the explosives, warning no one to touch it.
"Ten was here." Willow was stating. "We all ran here together. Then we turned to watch the Bath and they were gone. "
"Foot prints." Pan pointed to the sandy ground, pointing off into the distance opposite of the Blood Bath.

Liv had been holding Caleb's hand the whole time. She didn't let go even after they stopped running. She knew that he was shaken by Laz' death. She was shaken by it. By the abruptness of it. And the fact that one of her people could be a stealthy murderer. That worried her the most. That someone could kill like that and then go on as if it was nothing. Olivia knew that she could kill; to save Caleb she'd do just about anything, but at least it would have taken it's toll on her psyche. “I can heal anyone that's been hurt,” Liv said, quickly. She looked at Caleb and hugged him. “It's okay, Caleb...” she told him, quietly. “We can't focus on what we can't control. We're alive. Our people are alive. That's all that matters right now.”She took a breath and rose up on her toes to kiss him on the cheek. “I love you, Caleb Hunnington.”Liv squeezed his hand and disengaged, setting her medkit down. “Caleb, I'll need your medkit too. And Bronze, sir... May I borrow those pliers? Kris has an arrow to the shoulder and it needs to come out. Eris, lemme look at that wound as well. Anyone else wounded just lemme know.
“Where's Lorne?”

"Lorne said he was scouting about three minutes ago. He went that way." Willow pointed towards the distance, where greenery could be seen in the distance. "He thought it might be the best place to make camp. There's no shelter here."
Brass handed Olivia his pliers agreeably. He looked Eris over with concern, noting a scratch to her face.
"The net cut my face." She explained. " - I'm okay, though." Eris didn't seem okay. She was trembling and pale. Brass placed a hand against the girl's forehead, checking her temperature.
"Drink." He pressed her skin into her hands. "Heat stroke will cost you, here."
Branden had been some feet from the group, checking over Pan's bag.
"Not much gear." He stated. "But you're alive; and thats what matters. These wounds will heal easily if Olivia can prevent infection."
He gives the girl an approving nod.
"What worries me most is our water situation. These skins are a half days supply of water - at best. Not with this heat exerting you."
"We need to find more water." Pan realized. "Yes. You need to find a water source." Branden agreed. He turned and looked the way Lorne had gone, mentioning. "With that greenery, Lorne assumed the best chance was over there. But the other options are the cliffs, back past the Horn -" Willow shook her head vehemently.
"- or those islands." He pointed out towards Island 1 & 2.

Caleb came to a jogging stop next to Liv, surveying the group before him. Though the look was lost. He was still shaken, face grey and a little distant, with Laz's very sudden death. District One, Lazulis Somnus... He wouldn't be forgotten. If they'd done something different... if they'd attacked instead of fled... if...if..i... And then Liv's lips were against his cheek and he came back to the present. He pulled her into a tight hug. He'd cry later... he knew it. But not now, now he had to be strong. At least on the outside, even while inside he felt shattered. He looked across the group still here. Everyone but District 10, and there were foot prints in the sand leading off into the distance. A few minor injuries that Liv could patch up. He slipped his medkit out of his belt and handed it to her. "I love you, Olivia Tully... I couldn't do this without you."He then stopped and listened to his tributes speak. "Getting to cover should be our..." he paused for a moment to collect himself before continuing, "Our first priority. We take a quick breather to collect ourselves, check the packs, and give sponsors time to send us things, and heal up. But only a few minutes... I don't want to wait for too long for the careers to... finish their burial."He took his own advice, opening his pack to check the contents. "We should check out the horn before we move." Dupioni suggested.
"Those by the horn seemed to be in a hurry. We can swing by and look for anything that we need if they leave."
"Dangerous." Pan countered. "We can wait until they are gone." Dupioni proposed. "Anything they leave behind is more than what we have now."
"Until they have gone where?" Willow questioned. "They may be coming here - especially after Lazuli..."
The girl trailed off, not meeting any one's eyes.
"Thats a good point." Eris said, lowering her water skin. She had consumed 1/4 of it in the last few minutes and now capped it and slipped it onto her belt.
"They also heard our plan. You heard Riven's shout."
"I wonder how they heard about it." Theodore mused.
"The plan is still a good one." Eris proposed. "We can plant the bomb after we gather things from the horn. But its putting all of our eggs in one basket as we only got one. There's also no gaurantee that they'll ever go back there."
"The Feast." Willow stated. " The feast is always at the horn."
Lorne jogged up to the group, mentioning.
"There's an oasis further on ahead. There is a waterfall and a lake and green grass. It looks like a good place to rest." [/color] His expression was guarded and concerned. He took a minute to look over Olivia and Caleb, pleased that they were well.
"Any thing else?" Brass asked Lorne, narrowing his eyes.
"Its an oasis. It looks like Paradise." Lorne stated, letting the arena itself do the talking. There was no paradise here, only impressions of it.
A white parachute drifted down, heading right to Eris. She opened the parachute to reveal a water skin filled with 16 ounces of water.
"Keep drinking." Brass advised. "Your sponsors don't want you to succumb to heat stroke."
Eris obeyed, taking a long drink from the water skin. Every one who hasn't consumed water since the bath started begins to feel very fatigued and thirsty...

Caleb uncorked the 16oz water bottle and moved to Liv's side, bringing it to her lips as he listened to the others speak. "One of them might have overheard us just after the countdown ended."He was avoiding the question of going back... and the question of what had happened to Lazulis. Looking toward Lorne, he was glad to see his mentor. So glad to have a truly friendly face among his alliance. The alliance that'd escaped without a casualty. He looked at Dupioni. "We shouldn't linger here... Once they're done with Lazuli, they might come here. If they do, we shouldn't be here. If the oasis is just a few minutes jaunt away, I say we go there and see what we can do about setting up a small camp."He glanced toward Lorne, resting his hand on Liv's shoulder. "After that, it'll give the careers a chance to clear out and we can come back around, check the horn for whatever they've left behind, and possibly plant the mine. That last bit... we might want to hold onto it for later. Having it planted at the horn during a feast would be a double-edged sword as the feast almost always has things everyone needs."He squeezed Liv's shoulder, his hand trembling. His voice might be strong, but inside he was struggling, and it was just a matter of time before he cracked. He was scared. He didn't want to lead, he didn't want any of their lives on his shoulders, but... He glanced down at Liv, then back to everyone else. "Brass.. How many mines did you get?"He wasn't going to step away from the responsibility either. No matter what it did to him internally. He lifted the water bottle he'd watered Liv with to his lips and took a drink. Hit points: 24/24 Defense: 5 Willpower: 5/5 Caleb’s Mantra of the Dead: Lazulis Somnus

“If the odds go in our favor,” Liv whispered to Caleb. “...you won't have to.”Her mouth was dry and it was getting harder to swallow as she wasn't making enough saliva. And just like that Caleb delivered. Olivia drank the water without a second thought, reaching for her own water skin. She offered it to Caleb. “You have to drink the whole thing,” Liv told Caleb. “We can refill later.”If the odds went in their favor they'd be slaves to the Capitol. The Hunger Games would haunt them. Caleb would have nightmares. Olivia could see herself suffering the way some of her grandfather's old war comrades suffered. Toward the end they didn't remember anything but the horrors of war. Although, Liv didn't wish that on her worst enemy, she preferred that be Caleb and hers ultimate fate over not having a future with him at all. “Thank you, Brass,” Olivia told the mentor when he handed off his tool. She returned Brenden's nod with a more modest one of her own. She was a good healer but no where near the level of her mother. “Between these two medkits I have what I need to prevent infection for everyone that was hurt thus far. I'll do my best to heal everyone before we move. But let's learn from Brass' advice and everyone who hasn't had water needs to drink some now.”She tossed her pack to Caleb so he could go through hers. If he opened it he'd find fishing supplies and a can of mace. Then she got to work on pulling out the arrow stuck in Kris. “Kris, tell us about district three...”As Kris spoke Olivia got to work. Getting him to talk was to help distract him. She wouldn't be able to numb the area so she knew removing the arrow would hurt. Sometimes when her mother was out of pain killers she'd have people do the same; she'd asked them about their lives and as they talked, she'd work on healing them. Liv wasn't as skilled as her mother but she had picked up a few tricks. And as Kris got into his tale, Olivia removed the arrow from his shoulder, bandaging it as she went along. “There almost as good as new...” she told Kris with a happy smile. “Eris, you're next.
“Who else needs to be healed after Eris? Pan and Willow are you two okay? Theo and Dupioni? Or Shepard and Faith? Did any of you get hurt in the Bath?” She listened the other plan, silent. Then Olivia spoke when there was a break in the conversation. “I'm for returning to the Horn for more supplies but Caleb's right we first have to find a place called home. But we have to be careful. Lorne says the Oasis is a paradise... when has anything in the Arena been a paradise without a steep price in exchange? It could be a trap. It could, like the Tower last year, compromise our supplies. Whatever we decide, I just want to make sure we're being careful.” Olivia rolled 10 dice to "Pulling out arrow" 5,10,8,10,9,1,1,2,4,9,3,6 (5 successes) Used one 4 x 4 Gauze Pads, one Triple Antibiotic Ointment dose & one use of Roll of Cling Gauze.

Caleb nodded in response to Liv. He stroked her shoulder. The paradise was the closest, and the easiest to get to. It had the danger of being the closest and easiest to get to, which invited the careers to readily follow them, and also likely had a number of hidden dangers and pitfalls. He looked over his alliance, fighting to keep his face strong. He noted injuries: the scratches on Eris's face as well as the arrow wound, then Brass's arrow wound. They had escaped from the blood bath almost unscathed. The same couldn't be said for the careers. And yet, district 10 had abandoned them. He could hardly blame them... he wanted to continue to run, but things had to be done here. He still led them and leadership had its pitfalls... namely responsibility. He was responsible for those in front of him. And District 10... He was responsible for them as well, even if they'd, possibly inadvertently, already separated from the alliance. If they returned peacefully, Caleb had nothing against bringing them back into the fold. May the One look over them in their time of need...He then squeezed Liv's shoulder three times, once for three little words that meant so much: I love you. He lifted his hand from her shoulder and drank from his bottle, taking several deep breaths after that, fighting to keep himself solid for a little bit longer. He looked back to Lorne, once more glad to see his mentor there. "Unless everyone feels like climbing and or swimming... I'd say we finish patching up here and move to the paradise... and keep our wits about us."He didn't want to burn out Liv, and after a longing look in her direction, he settled his gaze back on his alliance. "Lorne, sir, could you lend a hand with the healing? In the meantime... did anyone see where TItan and Star went, beyond continuing to run?"Hit points: 24/24 Defense: 5 Willpower: 5/5 Caleb’s Mantra of the Dead: Lazulis Somnus

He then squeezed Liv's shoulder three times, once for three little words that meant so much: I love you. Olivia smiled and moved over to Eris. She was humming to herself. It was a song that she didn't like as a child. It was a song of faith. And after her father died she was sure that if there was such a thing as faith then she had none. However, as she got older, as her relationship with Caleb matured, as she found happiness in the face of unspeakable grief, Olivia found her faith in mankind, in the One returning. Many nights we've prayed, with no proof anyone could hear. In our hearts a hopeful song, we barely... understood. Now we are not afraid, although we know there's much to fear. We were moving mountains long before... we knew we could... There can be miracles, when you believe. Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill. Who knows what miracles, you can achieve, when you believe somehow you will? You will when you believe...As she did with Kris, Olivia set up her station and then got to work on Eris. “Tell us about yourself Eris? And your family...”As Eris spoke Olivia removed the arrow that was lodged in the girl. She cleaned the wound and dressed it before she cleaned the wound on Eris' face. “There. The wounds will leave scars. I'm sorry. If we were in District 6 I would take you to my mother's home. She could have done a better job...” Olivia moved to Issac next. The arrow as in his leg. She frowned. It needed to go before they could move. “Hey, Issac... I saw you at the Horn. You did brilliant. You and Psyche are natural fighters. Tell me about District 9. Are the barley fields as beautiful as they say?” She pulled the arrow out, making sure that it wasn't broken. Worst came to worst, Caleb could use it. Olivia cleaned and dressed the wound before she moved on to Brass. “I made sure to leave you for last so there wasn't any protests.” Olivia told the Mentor from District 3. “So, Brass. You feel up for telling us all about you? What's it like being a mentor?” Olivia went to work on extracting Brass's arrow from him. She inspected it like the other three and if they were still viable she cleaned them off and handed them to Caleb. She then cleaned Brass's wound and dressed it. “There. Anyone else need me to look at them?” Olivia asked. Olivia rolled 10 dice to "Pulling out arrow (Eris)" 1,6,9,7,9,3,6,2,2,10,5 (3 successes) Olivia rolled 10 dice to "cleaning Eris' face wound" 8,8,2,2,7,7,2,1,2,5 (2 successes) Olivia rolled 10 dice to "Pulling out arrow (Issac)" 3,9,9,3,7,8,4,4,5,1 (3 successes) Olivia rolled 10 dice to "Pulling out arrow (Brass)" 4,4,4,1,6,5,10,5,10,3,9,1 (3 successes) Used three 4 x 4 Gauze Pads, four Triple Antibiotic Ointment dose & three uses from 2 Roll of Cling Gauze.

"I only got the one mine."
Brass replied to Caleb's question, indicating the backpack lying nearby that he had cautioned every one not to touch.
"The first backpack I found had padding designed to hold the mine components. It will make carrying the bomb more stable, but we should be careful with the explosives. I disconnected the switch and the power source, but a blow to it could detonate it. I'll likely hide it once we make camp."
"I like the oasis idea." Willow agreed. "Lets explore a little area of it and settle down by the water source."
Pan nodded agreeably with Caleb and Willow's ideas. "No, we're not hurt." He replied to Olivia's question.
"They went that way -" Lorne indicated the Oasis. "- I didn't see them when I scouted it. Either they were hiding or they moved deeper into it than I did. Once I found the water source, I returned here."
"I'm not worried about scars." Eris stated. "I was more worried about Hyperion. He's scary, isn't he?"
"He didn't actually hurt us." Theodore stated. "Seems like he was trying to herd us."
"Glad we got out of there." Dupioni stated.
"Thank you." Eris evaluated her bandage. "I appreciate it, Olivia."
"Yes, thank you." Isaac replied, gingerly testing his leg.
"I can still run. District nine is... nice. There's a real sense of community. We have harvest fairs. We give a qouta of the harvest to the Capitol; but we try to have enough for ourselves."
"District three has no harvest." Brass glanced towards Kris. "We have tenements - apartments, where many unrelated people share the same multi story building. A great deal of it has fallen to disuse. We learn about electronics in school and work at the factories."
Eris and Dupioni glance at Brass, considering his words.
"Lets move," Pan suggested. "-I - oh. Oh."
His eyes have lit up in alarm. Following his gaze, you see four giant shadows in the sky above the horn. They have wings that suggest that they are birds; but the size of the wingspan means that they must be massive.
"Go." Willow takes Pan's hand and the two begin to run for the Oasis. Lorne tries to take point; but Psyche and Isaac are the fastest runners. Brass picks up the backpack and stays near to Kris and Eris. Eris stays beside Olivia and Caleb as they run. Every one beside Kris, Olivia and Caleb fall in behind Psyche, Isaac and Lorne.

Caleb nodded to the others, listening to the stories from Eris and Brass and Kris and Isaac. He watched the arrows come out and he carefully rinsed them in the ocean waters before adding them to the quiver at his hip. And all the while, marveled at Liv's 'social' side. If she embraced this aspect of her personality, she'd be far better at making friends than he was. He smiled to himself, just staring in awe at the girl for a few moments before the reality of the situation came back to him. He nodded to Brass. "You're the most experie..." he trailed off at the shadows circling the beach. They hadn't even had more than a twenty minute break and the GameMakers were throwing Mutts at them... Or had given the Careers some flying device. Likely the former though. He clips his water bottle to his belt, slung his pack back onto his shoulder and reached out to take Liv's hand as they took off after the others. He kept his bow in hand, preparing to do violence to the birds. Was it so much to hope that once they hit the Paradise that they got a moment to decompress? He squeezed Liv's hand tight, never intending to let go. Not now, not ever... His eyes darted between the tributes ahead and the bird shapes in the sky. Hit points: 24/24 Defense: 5 Willpower: 5/5 Caleb’s Mantra of the Dead: Lazuli Somnus Caleb Hunnington rolled 8 dice to "running rote" 1,10,3,9,4,4,9,5,4 (3 successes) Caleb Hunnington rolled 9 dice to "Running" 1,1,6,1,2,3,1,2,9 (1 successes) Caleb'll be tempering down to 2 suxx though, matching pace with Olivia

“All of the mentors are terrifying in the Arena...” Olivia told Eris, leaning in so she could whisper. “I've talked with Jan and Ember before. The Killer with the Angelic Face and the Butcher of District 12... They weren't that scary... But in here I'd be terrified of them. Fear is good, my grandfather says. It means you're not thinking of doing something stupid.”She glanced at Caleb when she said the last. If he hadn't done the stupid thing, they wouldn't both be staring down a path that only lead to death or moral decay and in most cases, both. She smiled weakly at Caleb and then looked between Issac and Eris. “Healing it what I do. It's who I am. I'm a healer. And the only blood on my hands that I want is the blood of those I've tried to save.” She had yet to kill or even attack these days. Her and Hyperion had a standoff of sorts but that wouldn't have ended well if Hyperion pushed it. Olivia would be dead. And Caleb would be dead inside. “District 3 and 6 have a lot in common...” Olivia told Brass. She packed up her things, taking the two medkits and putting them in her pack before she secured her water bottle to her belt. Pan's eyes darting upward stopped all of the friendly conversation and Olivia found herself gaping at the large birds. “Are they're even birds that size in the wild?...”A stupid question. The arena wasn't made by the One. It was made by men. Nothing in here could be considered natural. She found herself running beside Caleb and wasn't sure when that happened. Probably when she was starting wide-eyed at the giant birds. “Are they following us?”Olivia rolled 6 dice to "run" 6,1,5,10,5,3,8 (2 successes)

Brass half turned at Olivia's question. "No. The flock has gone after the Horn. I suggest that we pick up the pace!" Branden ran along behind the tributes, encouraging the slowest. The females especially had Branden's company beside them; a supporting arm to guide them forward. The group soon saw the lush, green slopes of the Peninsula welcoming them... There was no time.
He'd moved to grab the cooler, and then the hatch Riven and the others had gone through had snapped shut. With a yell of 'Rocs!' from Diedre.
"Riven!"
The hatch was stuck. As if something were on top of it, and he looked down to Brad, Ashlynn, and Riva and the others. The 'Big Alliance', as they'd been dubbed, was heading for the beach.
It was the only door that wasn't blocked.
"The Beach. We will deal with what comes. It is our only choice. The One willing, we will find Riven and the others soon enough."
The paper--the message from the other Mentors--was tucked into the sleeve of his jacket hastily. He would read it when he got the opportunity to do so. Hopefully that was sooner rather than later, and Zale headed toward the door to the Beach as well.
It was their only chance, and he and Riva were not dying like this.

The group quickly moves to the beach with the sounds of thundering rocks clipping at their heels. The sun is kissing the horizon, bathing the sky with pink and gold. There was perhaps an hour of day light left. The weather was clear. There were no Rocs flying here. From the Beach, one could swim or paddle a raft to Island 1 or Island Two One could also climb the rocky ledge to the CliffsPlease make 1 perception rollYou notice two sets of foot prints in the sand leading from where you are standing over to the thin line of palm trees. The shadows are thick there and growing with the fading light. As above, but you also notice one set of footprints is larger than the other. You would suspect that this could be Dale, the male of district 10. Presumably the other set belong to his district mate, Faith. You also follow the sets of footprints to the palm trees and with a start, see a pair of eyes staring down at you. The face is obscured by twisted mats of green sea weed.
Star was the first to arrive at the beach and was already wading into the ocean. She holds a cord tied to a four person inflatable raft with a small white cloth upon which '5' was printed. "Titan!" She exclaims excitedly. " We can go across the ocean. " Star turns and points to the islands on the horizon. "Which should we go to?"
Titan stepped up beside her, standing in the soft sand as he evaluated the islands in the distance. -- Island One - The Rock -- This island of the arena seems to be entirely composed of rock. The rock is bleached white by the sun in some places, but are predominately tan colored. The rocks are a sheer surface to climb and seem to yield only one or two walking paths upwards. On the top of the craggy cliffs are shaggy areas of green grass and the occasional dry, sparse tree. At first glance, this is an inhospitable place. Climbing out from the sea onto the sheer rock faces will be difficult. There is no soft sandy beach here, only an exercise in athletic activity to get away from the water. Yet if its so difficult to manage, perhaps others won't want to manage it at all. Are those shadows between the rock caves at the top caves? Perhaps its a natural shelter... there's only one way to know - start the trek up the craggy cliffs. Island 2 This island is the same size as Island 1 aka the Rock; a moderate sized island. Island Two is past Island 1 when swimming from the main arena and will be a twenty minute swim. This island has green trees and vegetation. The first entry has a rock stair case, some fencing and the suggestion of a structure with visible door ways. Yet the towering pillar beside this entry also has an inhabitant - a giant green lizard. A second entry can be reached by swimming past and pulling oneself up onto a sandy beach. Psyche steps away from Isaac as he sets her on her feet. "Liv?" The girl looks excitedly behind Zale. Willow, Pan, Isaac and Dupioni cluster near Caleb and Olivia. Yet Brad, Ashlyn, Iris and Sam stand apart from district six, seven and nine. "Alliance is done for." Pan whispers quietly to those standing near Caleb and Olivia. "Maybe we ought to move. Or hope for our own raft.""Zale, Riva-" Iris approached Zale and Riva, her hand on her new +3 bow. "I don't hear Riven and the others fighting. They've likely defeated the Rocs already. Should we wait here for them or expect that they'll catch up to us?"Sam subtly moves from his position beside Iris closer to Caleb. He makes an attempt to mask his intentions, please make a perception roll [-2] mod to decipher below except for Caleb & Olivia. "The temp alliance is done with and twelve and Iris have been itching for a fight. I'd move on if I were in your place."

It seemed horrible, in that moment, what he was about to do. Either one person could go home, or two people could go home, and saving two--in his estimation--was saving more. And to quote Brass--District Two's Tribute from last year (albeit a bit out of context).. ...Those of District Ten had chosen poorly. Zale had made a promise. He'd promised Caleb that he would do what needed to be done to see Olivia to her home. If it were in his power, he would see it done, and the fact that 'Ashlynn, Brad, and Iris were itching for a fight'... That was something to be used to their advantage. Zale looked down at the tracks, and then let his eyes follow them into the trees. To the eyes peering down at him masked in seaweed, blinking up at it. "Ask nothing of your people that you are not willing to do yourself, son." [/blockquote][/color] Zale positioned himself so that he was quite subtly standing a bit in front of Olivia before he did it. Before he hefted one of his spears and threw it into the trees. They were standing there in the open discussing strategy, and as much as he hated doing this--as much as he hated taking a life--he had made a promise. And those of District Ten were not a part of that promise. 2013-10-04 02:42:41 [HG27] Zale Sewell rolled 7 dice to "Perception Roll 1" 9,4,6,10,6,9,3,8 (4 successes) 2013-10-04 02:43:28 [HG27] Zale Sewell rolled 3 dice to "Rote" 9,1,2 (1 successes) 2013-10-04 02:44:42 [HG27] Zale Sewell rolled 7 dice to "Overhearing/Discerning Sam (Trained Observer)" 4,7,7,4,8,5,6 (1 successes) 2013-10-04 02:45:51 [HG27] Zale Sewell rolled 6 dice to "Rote" 1,2,1,1,2,7 (0 successes) 2013-10-05 15:11:11 [HG27] Zale Sewell rolled 9 dice to "Spear Throwing + Willpower (Assume -5 (For Cover and Defense) and Assume -4 for Called shot (He can only see the Tributes eyes)" (9-again) 7,8,3,5,3,8,4,7,6 (2 successes)

The tribute that Zale had attacked proved to be Faith, the female of district ten. A sharp scream of pain ripped out from the palm trees. The big shepard, Dale, could be seen helping her behind a palm tree. There was silence for a beat. Psyche, Dupioni, Theodore and Isaac stepped closer to the trees. "We're with you, Zale." Psyche declared. Her head had been turned to speak to Zale, unaware that the big tribute Dale had exploded out from his hiding place. He tore through the group, attacking the smallest of them - Psyche. His fist collided with the side of her head in a devastating haymaker. The boy almost immediately turned to flee. The fifteen year old girl fell to the sandy floor, unconscious. Isaac gave a wordless cry and extended his arm, piercing Dale's back with the spear tip. Blood gushed from the wound as Isaac caustically pulled his arm back, preparing for another attack. A knife flew out from somewhere in the palm trees. Zale took a knife to the left arm. The knife was thrown well and embedded deeply in Zale's arm. Those looking for Faith suffer -2 for cover, her defense is 3 (Total - 5 to attack Faith). Dale's defense is 0 for this round only; then it is three in round 2. Dale has no cover. (Total - 0 to attack Dale)
"We're out of here." Star declared. "Two more people can fit with us - if you hurry!"The girl sat in the back of her inflatable raft and gestured to Titan that it was time for them to be away. Titan pushed the raft off from the beach into the sea. The boy waded into the water up to his knees, holding the rope to the raft. He glanced over his shoulder at the group, evaluating if any one would take up the offer of a raft ride. Titan and Star will depart next round.2013-10-06 01:18:51 Isaac rolled 8 dice to "Spear attack [Dale]" 4,8,7,10,10,1,2,10,9,8,3 (6 successes) Link 2013-10-06 01:15:09 Faith rolled 6 dice to "Throwing knives [Zale]" 8,1,10,10,9,2,3,8 (5 successes) Link 2013-10-06 01:13:09 Psyche rolled 3 dice to "Haymaker Vs Psyche [Stamina roll to remain conscious]" 3,6,3 (0 successes) Link 2013-10-06 01:12:11 Dale rolled 6 dice to "Haymaker Vs Psyche [-3]" 4,2,7,1,2,10,10,4 (2 successes)

[/SIZE] “Show me the path I must walk and do not let me stumble in the dark places that lie ahead.”[/color][/font][/center] Olivia looked at Sam. She wanted to tell him thank you. But she couldn't find the words before Zale speared a tribute from District 10. It didn't matter anyway. Though she was grateful for his advice, she didn't feel like she needed it. So what four people wanted to fight. If they didn't fight with honor, District Four would turn their backs on them. Zale and Riva might not join up with her alliance but they wouldn't support an alliance with anyone that killed without thinking. Killing should cost you. “Zale!” she screamed as the boy from District Four was hit. “Psyche!” she yelled again as the girl from District Nine went down. Though Faith was more deadly, Dale was actually taking people out. Olivia uncoiled her whip and made a choice. All her life she had sworn to do no harm. Here, and now, she understood that she'd have to kill if Caleb had a chance. She lashed out at Dale with her whip coiling it around his neck with just a flick of her wrist. Olivia Tully rolled 11 dice to "Whip Dale (Called Shot to Neck) + WP" 10,1,9,1,2,7,2,4,8,4,9,1 (4 successes) Outside Choke (•••): Your character attempts to wrap the chain around her opponent’s neck. Roll Strength + Weaponry. The victim may attempt to free himself on his next action with a Strength + Brawl roll, which is reduced by your character’s Strength +1 (Olivia's Strength is 3). This maneuver is not to cause damage or kill the opponent — this maneuver is to render him unconscious by pressing the chain against the arteries of his neck, thus halting blood flow to his brain. If your character is successful on the grapple, she can begin to choke the victim on the following turn. For every turn that the choke hold is not broken, the victim suffers an additional –1 on all rolls to resist. When your character has accumulated a number of uninterrupted turns equal to the victim’s Stamina, he falls unconscious. This maneuver, when complete, causes a single point of bashing damage to the victim. This combat maneuver is ineffective against characters who need not breathe.

Caleb studied the options before them. Climbing the cliffs to force a confrontation with Riven and company wasn't in the cards. He didn't want to expose his people to that, or fight in the first place. Which left the two islands. Both were likely crawling with nasties from the gamemakers. He'd expect nothing less. He glanced toward Sam as the boy spoke and smiled. Caleb was about to express his appreciation when violence exploded around him. The breath caught in his throat as Zale's spear zipped quickly into the bush, producing pain, and Dale emerged exposing his fighting spirit. A spirit likely tempered quickly by spear thrusts and Caleb's dear lover's whip around Dale's throat. Caleb drew an arrow from his hip quiver, almost too calmly, drawing it to his ear. He, however, found he couldn't point it down range at Dale. It didn't feel right, but as the knife came barreling from the bushes and bit into Zale's arm, Caleb reacted without thinking, returning the ranged attack by loosing his arrow. Caleb Hunnington rolled 11 dice to "Shooting Faith" 1,2,10,5,10,10,3,1,8,2,3,5,8,6 (5 successes) Hit points: 24/24 Defense: 5 + 3 armor (3 chest) Willpower: 4/5 Caleb’s Mantra of the Dead: Lazuli Somnus

Zale Sewell; District 4's Male Warrior for The Battle: The Fortuneteller's Son [/u] There's no shame in fear, my father told me, what matters is how we face it. "What is dead may never die."[/i][/color] Sheet[/center] He'd brought his arm up to block the hit, and ended up with the knife embedded in his arm pretty well. It was a thoughtless thing to pull it out of his own arm. There were some manuevers with a spear that required both arms--it was technically a pole-arm, after all--and Zale would not be helpless that way. And with the little weapon in his hand and Faith in his sights, he did another instinctive thing. He threw her own throwing knife back at her, grabbing up another spear and hurtling himself into the trees after the girl. "Isaac. Dale rolled 6 dice to "Resisting Olivia's Chain Chokehold [9-3]" 6,6,7,4,10,3,1 (1 successes) Free of Olivia's chain, Dale a split second to take in the scene. Too many tributes are facing him and he takes a step back immediately. "Faith!" He shouts as he turns his back to Olivia and the others. "Get any that come!"The boy tucks in his elbows and runs for the cover of the palm trees. Isaac makes a growl of impatience and immediately gives chase. "They're luring us in." Dupioni whispers. "They've been here for two days. We go in there and they'll be on us.""There's too many of us." Pan whispers back. "Lets go after them, Caleb!" Pan strides forward, his axe in hand. Willow draws her bow and follows, staying three strides behind her partner. The girl from seven moves to the left of him to prevent making Pan a target of her arrow. "Make a line." Willow advises. "Isaac, up there with Pan?" Isaac quickly moves forward to be in line with Pan, four feet to his left. "Of course... "Isaac turns and looks at Zale. The gaze in those light colored eyes is challenging. Isaac stares at Zale for a beat before facing forward, searching for a threat. "Olivia, don't go." Dupioni implores. Dupioni and Theodore stay planted where they are. Dupioni has drawn her two knives and half turns, examining the treeline for Faith. Theodore drops to a knee beside Psyche, gently touching the girl's throat. He takes her pulse for a few moments before standing and stating. "She'll be all right."There's no discussion between Sam, Iris, Ashlyn and Brad. The four move forward immediately. Brad and Sam stay an arms length from one another to the right of Isaac. Iris draws her bow and keeps in line with Willow, three strides behind the boys. Ashlyn is hampered by her wounded knee, walking a step behind the boys and two in front of Willow and Iris. As Isaac and Zale move, a knife flies out of the trees. It finds purchase in Zale's right leg, below the knee. Faith rolled 6 dice to "Throwing knives [Zale]" 8,6,10,7,7,10,6,5 (3 successes)

It may be a trap!” She looked at Caleb and without saying a word she asked him to watch over her and Zale. “Riva! Cover us... Zale, I have to heal you before we move on...” [Olivia's dodging. Zale Sewell; District 4's Male Warrior for The Battle: The Fortuneteller's Son [/u] "There's no shame in fear, my father told me, what matters is how we face it." "What is dead may never die."[/i][/color] Sheet[/center] The suspicious look that Isaac gave him was an odd one, and he couldn't for the life of him place it. Still, he'd taken a few really good hits. One in the arm. On in the leg, and Zale clenched his teeth, about to pull the thing out of his leg before Liv's voice caught his attention. He frowned, but she was right. He couldn't go in there like this. For all he knew, there could be traps, and while he wasn't afraid for his own life, he couldn't keep his word to Caleb if he were dead. Zale nodded tersely, looking to Liv. "As you will."Still, his eyes were on the trees, watching and waiting for anything else to come their way. "If you allow them to live, we will have to hunt them down later." He was saying it out loud so that all of them understood the consequences if they didn't follow through with the two deaths. Because if there weren't deaths soon, he was sure The Godless would send more Mutts after them, and killing those and taking wounds from those would in no way get them closer to going home. "I do not want them to send more Unnatural Creatures after us. That is not any way to die." 2013-10-06 23:13:52 [HG27] Zale Sewell rolled 9 dice to "Perception (Combat Awareness Roll)" 6,8,10,9,2,7,4,6,10,10,1,10,3 (6 successes) 2013-10-06 23:14:28 [HG27] Zale Sewell rolled 3 dice to "Rote" 9,10,7,7 (2 successes)

Caleb felt sick as his arrow found purchase. He listened to the combat, battling his own revulsion at having shot the arrow at someone. He sucked in air, and combat slipped away as Dale and Faith retreated. And his responsibilities gave chase, or started to anyways. "Wait!" As Dupioni had said the district 10 tributes had had two days to prepare. "It's a trap, or will be laden with traps. Hold back for now. There's little point to giving chase blindly and injured to boot."He hated to hear Zale's words. And hated it more that he was right. But if he could help it... no one else would die. "Let Olivia patch up your leg, then we'll give chase. You too, Ashlyn. Everyone, keep your wits about you."Hit points: 24/24 Defense: 5 + 3 armor (3 chest) Willpower: 4/5 Caleb’s Mantra of the Dead: Lazuli Somnus

As Olivia made preparations to heal Zale and perhaps Ashlyn, she realized that the intense healing that she had administered in the cavern had taken a toll on the supplies of her and Caleb's medical kits. She had enough supplies in the kits to heal only two more people. She had grabbed separate bandages that would allow four bandage changes. At Olivia and Caleb's warning, their alliance mates paused at the entrance to the palm trees. This close to Faith and Dale's hiding spot they realized there weren't only palm trees. There were dozens of squat trees with spiky green leaves that were a good eight feet in diameter, those leaves providing a great deal of cover. There were some fallen palm leaves under foot and some delicate moss and ferns growing against sand colored rocks. The ground was a mixture of sand and mud. The sun was now setting, blanketing the trees ahead of them in long shadows. "They could be getting away." Isaac complained as he halted pursuit. Iris, Sam, Brad and Ashlyn continued into the shadowy tree line. With the absence of Caleb and Liv's alliance, they clustered closer together with Brad and Ashlyn in the lead. They had stepped into the trees a moment when it became hard to distinguish them in the shadows. From the shadows, a glint of metal was the only warning as a knife flew out of the trees. It grazed Riva's arm as Olivia was taking stock of her medical supplies. From the trees, theres a shout of "There he is!" A ringing sword sounded with a terrible yell. The sound of underbrush being trampled and a surprised cry sounded soon after. "Sam's not moving!"As Zale glanced among the trees, he turned his head away from the shouts and noise. He could sense a quiet rustle a mere eight feet from he and Olivia. As he watched, a milk white foot - bare- crawled through the underbrush. A similar movement made him glance towards the noise of the fighting. He saw a milk white torso silhouetted by a palm tree. The body was androgynous and human - like, but not like any tribute Zale had seen. The figure stepped forward towards the combatants.
