The sword singed as she pulled it out of it's sheath. Diadem loved that sound but she didn't have time to relish it. As the Roc was trying to kill her remaining tribute. That she wouldn't allow. Diadem sliced at the Roc's legs. Diadem Gilded rolled 9 dice to "attack Roc [11-3 Def-2 Called Shot to Leg+WP]" 5,3,4,6,1,8,7,5,7 (1 successes)

Zale Sewell; District Four's Male Warrior for the Battle:"The Fortuneteller's Son" "What is dead may never die." "Tye cut his wrist when he toppled into the water..." The Healer was saying to his father as they brought the man off the fishing boat. The boat had been out on the sea, and apparently there'd been a shark attack. The man they brought back with them was barely coherent.
He was missing a leg, and had lost a great deal of blood.
Caspian was standing there with his son, watching them take Tye off to The Healer's. He may very well die. The youngest person who worked on that boat was thirteen, and he looked pale himself when he stepped down onto the dock.
"All it takes is a drop, Zale." Caspian looked to his son, and Zale nodded in response. It was a lesson his father was teaching him. Predators could smell blood, and all it took was a drop. "Do you understand?"
"Yes, Father." He coughed when he got to the surface, but didn't flail as one would expect. Instead, he looked to his mentor and then back at the monster, and decided that getting out of the water was the more important move here. "Something will come." His shoulders were on fire. The bird had done it's damage, and then the saltwater had tears filling his eyes. He wasn't sure if the wounds would be cleaned by this water or not, but the first order of business was getting out of the water. "There's blood in the water. We must get out." He was still coughing, but he knew what he had to do. Even as he went into an overhand stroke, Zale winced. He at least knew what he was doing and wouldn't drown. They had to get away from the bird, and out of the water. That was the most important thing right now. 2013-05-08 21:38:40 [HG27] Zale Sewell rolled 10 dice to "Stamina + Athletics + Swimming Specialty + Willpower" 3,7,3,6,9,4,1,9,5,3 (2 successes)

Riven Tanzanite: District One's Volunteer for the 27th Hunger Games, The Anguished Fencer “Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.” A feral growl rumbled from the depth of Riven’s chest as the bird swooped down and bit her, again. Riven felt blood, both her own and that of two different monstrous birds, running down her arms, and Diadem’s sword sliced at the legs of the bird that had just attacked her. Riven saw blood running from its chest, where she had punctured its heart. The girl from District One threw herself into a deadly attack, an attempt to decapitate the bird. She misjudged the width of the bird’s neck, however, and found her sword slicing a rather large gash in the bird’s neck. She was still pleased with the attack, regardless of whether or not she had succeeded in her previous goal. Blood splashed over her face, stained her eyes, clung to her eyelashes and eyebrows. She didn’t care. Without turning away from her opponent, her sword ready to attack a second time, Riven called to Diedre and Iris. “Get your bow back, Diedre. Your sword. Iris, cover her, keep shooting.” Riven wanted the bird in front of her to fall, she wouldn’t rest until its life had been diminished. Until her steel had destroyed its soul. “Foul beast.” She spat at it, irritated and furious. Hit Points: 14/ 21Willpower: 2/ 5Armour:- Gauntlet [+2]

Diedre moved to the chest that contained the sword, but Timour held out a hand for the key. "Let me," He advised. "-these birds evade me." Diedre handed over her key and Timuor opened the chest, rooting through to find her sword. Diedre recovered her bow and immediately loosed an arrow at the offending bird, striking a solid shot. Now that two of the birds were grounded, Ashlyn and Sam charged in. The two tributes slashed at 'heart' bird. The bird emitted a terrible noise and keeled over, dead. Now one bird darted in for Riven - and completely missed its attempt to cut her with its talons. It seemed not to realize it was missing some of its toes due to Diadem's attack... The flying bird attempted to attack Iris, perhaps to also grab her bow. Iris ducked down as the bird flew by and escaped any attack from the bird. Only Riva recieved a shallow gash to her wrist when one of the downed birds pecked at her. Riva slashed at it with her knife, cutting the beasts' chest. Zale Sewell; District Four's Male Warrior for the Battle:"The Fortuneteller's Son" "What is dead may never die." Zale swam for pretty much his life, pulling himself onto the beach and away from the water. Far enough, he thought, that even if there were an animal chasing him and it could come onto land, it would be hardpressed to catch him. There was nothing more for him to do other than catch his breath at the moment. His shoulders were burning. Especially his right shoulder. Probably bleeding pretty badly too, and steel blue eyes searched for Hyperion as he pulled himself to his feet, spear clasped in his hand even with his shoulders screaming and the cold setting in. He'd lost some blood. "...We should help them." The others, who were still fighting. As hurt as he was, he couldn't just stand and do nothing. - Bevor [+2]

She turned and legged it towards Zale, who she has just seen pull himself from the water. “Your shoulders.” Riven said as she reached the boy from District Four, “I’m no doctor, but I’ll do my best.” Riven dropped her duffel bag to the ground and hastily pulled out the medical kit she’d taken from the Horn. She inspected the wounds, but she didn’t have time for a full on inspection right now, a quick heal of his wounds would be all before she would have to return to the fight. “This’ll sting.” She muttered as she washed the wounds out, before retrieving bandage and quickly patched him up. “Do not fight, Zale. I need you.” Riven said, care in her eyes which had just moments before been ablazed with fury and hatred. The medkit was stowed and Riven positioned herself in front of Zale to protect him from any incoming attacks. Hit Points: 14/ 21Willpower: 2/ 5Armour:- Gauntlet [+2]

“I will cover you Riven. Tend to his wounds. I can heal him more once he's been stabilized.” Diadem charged in and attacked the grounded bird that gone for Riven as it was still not dead. “Hey! Yes over here you oversized chickens!” Diadem called the giant birds. Diadem Gilded rolled 11 dice to "attack Roc [11-3+WP]" 6,8,3,9,4,3,7,9,2,2,5 (3 successes)

The most wounded bird was now dribbling blood from its nearly imperceptible ears. This bird continued to harrass Riven, hopping over towards her as she tended to Zale. Diadem gave it a sound cut, but it became distracted by the boy that Riven was tending to. It lunged in just as Riven tried to tend to Zale's worst wounds, biting down on Zale's left upper shoulder. It shook its head, lacerating the meaty portion.
"Shove off!" Hyperion advised the bird. The man had grabbed no weapons - having grabbed survivial gear for his tributes. Undeterred, the man high kicked at the birds head. He made an impact at the side of the birds head.
"I'd say you two should clear out." Hyperion advised Riven and Zale. "The pack can follow you once we clean up ... but these things seem to have a taste for your blood."
Riva approached Zale and Riven, having been the one to truly chase after Zale. She gave the boy a worried glance, but focussed on the threat. Perhaps her concern for Zale's well being was distracting, for the wound inflicted upon the Roc was a shallow one. Shallow or not, the bird seemed to finally succumb to its injuries. With a CAW! the bird collapsed on its side beside Rivan, Zale and Riva.
The young men and Ashlyn harrassed the surviving bird with knives and swords. The bird took one or two cuts before it hopped away. Showing tremoundous strength, the bird took off from the ground and wheeled away from the horn. This bird was wounded - grieviously, you thought - yet it flew over the salt lake and towards the rocky island.
The bird that had nearly carried Zale away hopped out of the water onto one of the two strips of land that surrounded the lake. The bird fluffled its feathers, shaking off the water droplets from the lake. The giant roc used the strip like a runway, taking off into the sky. The bird turned outwards, headed out to sea.
"... or not." Hyperion amended his earlier statement.
"Iris, get over here. Ashlyn, lets see that arm. You-" He pointed at Riven. "- let Diadem look at you after you finish with Zale. These cuts can mean diaster out here."
The man rounded up the tributes with a sharp whistle. "Perimeter around Zale and Riven. " He barked. "If something flies in, you'd better hit the deck. One of them only has one foot." A nod of respect to Diadem.

Zale Sewell; District Four's Male Warrior for the Battle:"The Fortuneteller's Son" "What is dead may never die." He'd wanted to fight, but Riven had all but insisted he let her look over his wounds. Which were substantial, and he wasn't going to argue that. They were bad, and they needed to be cleaned and bandaged sooner rather than later. And then another bird attacked, and it got him...very good. Extremely so, undoing the work that Riven did. His right shoulder was a mess now along with his left, and Riva had thankfully dispatched the thing just after. "I can..." This was not how he was going to die. He refused. "If it pleases, someone could look me over again, and then I can help with the others. I am capable."- Bevor [+2]

It is a sword that heals.” Riven cursed loudly as the bird swooped in and undid her work. She swung her sword aimlessly as an attempt of batting it away, but the assault soon made it fall. As the other two birds flew away, another growl rumbled from Riven’s chest. “We’ll see them again.” She said, irritated and breathless. Riven sheated her sword and caught her breath for a moment before nodding to Hyperion. “I will allow myself to be looked over when everyone is well. I’ll be alright.” The blood on her wrist and arm wasn’t all hers, but it still looked a mess. However, Riven moved over to Zale and inspected the damage that had been inflicted, again. “Curse those wretched birds.” Riven muttered, kneeling in front of Zale and looking him in the face, “Forgive me, Zale. There was nothing I could do.” She said solemnly, before grabbing her duffel bag and once again retrieving the medical kit. She took out the bandages again, and she inspected the wound, “I won’t lie to you, Zale, this isn’t good. We’ll have to change the bandages frequently, and you mustn’t strain yourself.” She winced as she moved her wrist, beginning to wash out the messy wound again, “I can’t do very much… I… I’m not doctor.” Frustration marred Riven’s face as she began to bind Zale’s shoulder. “I will look over Zale,” Diadem volunteered. She could heal and harm. Ironic, she always thought. But in the Games a knowledge of the healing arts went a long way. She looked over Zale and improving upon the work that Riven had already done. “Now you Riven.” The mentor held up a hand before the girl could protest. “Riven if you want to help your people you must be at your top strength. I will heal you and then Zale will look over my work just as I did with you. No complaints.” Diadem worked quickly as she didn't know if the birds were coming back. The tributes obey Hyperion in forming a circle around the most wounded of them. Ashlyn prodded the bird with her foot, ensuring that it was dead.
"Tough beasts." She remarked. "I thought for sure that one was going to die." "Probably is. Some animals crawl off and die. Maybe it flew off to die."
"Tough if you don't have a blade." Timour agrees. "Riven, can I help you carry any thing? We shouldn't strain your wrist and arm more than necessary."
"Let me take that." Riva suggested, reaching for the duffel bag that Zale was forced to discard so that his shoulders could be attended. One had to admit that a strap over one's shoulders wouldn't make much sense. Riva donned the duffel and insisted. "I only got a scratch."
Silver glances around the flat ground they stood on with a frown. "We're in the open. Lets tend to the cuts and get moving. Riven, where are we headed?"
Any one want to make a perception roll and look out to the water, let me know if you get 3+
