"Raider 001 to Rehabilitation 01. We have departed Laboratory 1. Alpha team out.
Raider 002 to Rehabilitation 01. We have departed Laboratory 1. Bravo team out.
Raider 003 to Rehabilitation 01. We have departed Laboratory 1. Charlie team out."
Light comes in spotted as Riley's eyes flutter open. Tinny words sound faintly around her, crackling over a radio. The attempt to sit up is inhibited by heavy straps around the wrists, shoulders, waist and ankles. Immobile, only ones' head is able to turn. To the immediate right, a female brunnette lays unconscious, restrained just as Riley is. To the left, a young man is restrained but awake, struggling against his bonds.
The room has white walls and resembles a bland office, devoid of personal touches or identifying features. Bright lights shine down on a row of beds. A large office window is on the wall immediately in front of the beds, showing a team of four white - clad people working at complicated machines. Four black clad men holding dart rifles man the only door.
A single female - young, Caucasian and blonde - is having her blood drawn through the window. One of the female doctors holds up a unlit light bulb and the blonde woman reaches forward, flicking her finger. The light bulb flickers and an observing man jots something on a clipboard. Two of the white clad people depart with the blonde female through another door.
"Uhhh...." The male mutters beside Riley. He turns his head as he struggles and blinks.
"Oh, you're awake."

Riley awoke with a start, her cat like eyes showing their usefulness in immediately becoming very narrow slits to protect her eyes from the bright lights overhead. She squirmed against the straps with surprise; they were new, and different. They hadn't dared try keeping her with restraints before. She could surely free herself by changing her shape, but there were enough straps on her now it would still take some time to get free.
She was confused at first, until she noticed the four men in black with rifles. Her ears immediately going from a perked up expression of confusion and hope to a laid down expression of sadness and frustration. Her tail swished around a bit but was trapped between her legs for now, it would take a bit of effort to slide it underneath herself, and she wasn't sure if the guards would even allow that.
Resigning herself to save making an escape attempt until she had a better opportunity, or at least a good plan, she turned to focus on the other captives. In a way, Riley was kind of glad to be restrained out in the open with others, instead of confined to set of cages she had been kept before, alone. Her ears perked and focused on the male that spoke to her.
"Hello, I'm Riley, are you one the other mutants? Do you know where we are?"
She couldn't help but be curious and excited, she didn't know how long it had been since she had a real conversation with someone.

Anna Marie: Rogue, Former Mutant “I could spit on him, if I wasn’t a lady.” It was different to sleep. This was a forced slumber. She'd been inoculated, the small prick of the needle had left an aching feeling in the crease in the middle of her arm where the elbow joint was. Rogue could feel it, even in her unconsciousness, feel the ache. The powerful dosage had knocked her out quickly, and now as she was coming back, her head remained hazy and her memory fogged. She could hear someone's voice, a male voice, saying her name, telling others that 'they' had to leave. But who were they? The X-Men? Was Bobby there? Rogue could remember flashes, and as her eyes fluttered open she realised, once again, that she was no longer with them. They hadn't taken her with them. There were too voices, and Rogue tried to move again, sit up with a start, but her fight against the restraints caused her to exhale sharply and worriedly. “Riley?” Rogue turned to the other girl, turned her head that is, “Sorry, I just overheard... I... I'm Rogue. And I think we're in a holdin' cell.”Rogue struggled against her restraints again, her eyes adjusting as she blinked away the haze.

Riley turned quickly to the sound of the other voice, it had been a while since anyone had called Riley by name, she almost didn't recognize it. "Oh, you're awake too. Are you one of the other mutants?" Riley said, not minding if they knew she was a mutant, since well, it was obvious and she could change looks later.
"I don't know if this is a holding cell, I was in a cage before, and this seems like a lot for just holding us." Riley said with a nod towards the guards.
Riley struggled in her restraints too, she was testing them for how she might quickly get free later. It wasn't the wrist or ankle restraints that frustrated her, she could change the shape of her hands and feet and be out of those in no time. The waist and shoulder straps on the other hand, she would have to slim down her body and slide out, no way the guards would let her get away with that. So she wiggled her hips and shoulders, hoping for something.
She also tried to get a good look at any of the doctors or guards, just in case she did get free, she wanted to option of impersonating someone.

Anna Marie: Rogue, Former Mutant “I could spit on him, if I wasn’t a lady.” Rogue frowned at the girl. She didn't seem as frantic or worried as she did herself; had she never been abducted before? Had she even been abducted. Rogue swallowed, hard, and turned to look back up at the ceiling. Her eyes danced along bare ceiling as she considered her next words. “Maybe...” She responded slowly, “I used to be a mutant and then... I'm not any more. Honestly, I don't know why I'm here...” Rogue chewed on her bottom lip and struggled once again against the restraints. “But I think you're right: this isn't no holdin' cell. This is... Somethin' real different.” Rogue felt frightened, nervous, but above all, she felt like all of this was some kind of a dream. She still felt drugged up, and she continued to blink as her mind remained foggy and full of cob webs induced by whatever drug they had used to put her out.

"It seems like they want to mix the mutant abilities, for what, I don't know. There was a girl in the office over there that lit up a lightbulb, they took blood from her, I don't know if she is like us or here willingly."
Riley continued to work quietly at her restraints while she listened, and continued to look around the room, she also looked at the lights, for a way to maybe take them out quickly, darkness would be to her advantage for sure.

"The blonde in there?" The male jerked his chin towards the viewing window. "I think she's a collaborator. They haven't chained her up in here in days. Or the other guy. But..." He gave Riley a nod.
" - they are trying to change us. There was another girl who was abducted with us - Priya. She gained the ability of Flight while she was with us at the other place. And the guy who can do electricity? They took that from him and gave it to Blonde."
The young man shrugged and as you watched, his limbs stretched and transformed. He wiggled his way free of the restraints and sat on the bed, watching the window. Two of the guards were now watching him. The remaining two looked at Riley, focused on her.
"They don't mind if we sit in here, unrestrained. But touch any one else- like her-" The boy nodded to Rogue. "- and they'll drug you."
He visually looked Rogue over. "If you're not a mutant, why are you here? And why restrained?"
Looking around the room reveals little of use to disable the lights. There are no switches or access points for the lights on this side of the glass. The only furniture are the five cots; affixed with clip boards. There are no plants, no decor and nothing to manipulate. You notice that there are no air vents to this room.

"Are you sure they don't mind?" "Do you mind?" Riley said to the guards focused on her, doing her best to look cute and innocent as she did.
She was a little suspicious of the male now, but did her best not to show it. If they really did not mind, how did he know yet was still restrained like them just moments earlier, and also, how did he know Riley could sit as well?
"Yeah, they've been expanding my natural abilities and trying to give me other mutant powers, but I can't do those, too complex." she said while wiggling her way free of her own restraints, as long as the guards showed no hostility while she did.
First her hands would change and slip free easy enough, then she slimmed down her waist and shoulders just a little so she could slide down and get her head under the shoulder strap so she could sit up. Sliding was luckily fairly easy when all she was 'wearing' was natural rubber.
She would pause there, sitting with her waist and legs still bound and look to the guards again. "Could I maybe have some real clothes please?" she asked, again trying to look cute and innocent, she doubted it would work, or she'd get any response, but it was worth a try.

As Riley spoke to the guards, she noticed no response. After a moment, a guard glanced somewhere that Riley, Rogue and the other mutant couldn't see. A computer monitor? A speaker system? For as Riley and Rogue could not hear the action going on in the separate room; it stood to reason that the guards also could not hear Riley. The two guards resumed watching Riley silently, her question and request were ignored.
"They haven't done anything to me yet." The male stated wryly. He amended his statement with a more sober. "Except when I tried the door handle."

Riley nodded and started to get free of the ankle and waist straps. She also changed her feet back into normal human feet, and thickened the rubber covering on the bottom. It was almost like wearing real shoes, except she had toes and more flexibility. She also kept her physique more thin and tall than it was before. She had gone from a short and cute cat creature to one that was more tall and slim in order to get free and did not bother shifting back.
She also was concerned about the guards as she went. "It seems pretty odd they strap us down but don't care if we get up." She went to look at Rogue's restraints, to see if they were locked or if she could undo them. "If they only cared when you went for the door I should be able to let Rogue up too. What is it they did to you by the way, and what's your name?"

As Riley approached Rogue, a disembodied voice drifted from an unseen speaker.
"Do not remove her restraints. Return to your bed."
"Come on." The male seemed annoyed. "My name is Royce. I don't want them to come in here, so why aren't you listening?" Royce looks to Rogue. "No offense. But theres a very fine line before they put a collar on you... and you don't want that."
Looking at the window, the three see two of the guards approach the door. The two guards quickly and expertly load a dart apiece and begin to scan the biometric lock on the door. The two remaining scientists glance over to the mutants. They lock down their computer screens to blackness and exit the room, moving unseen to another part of the facility.
Royce quickly lies down on his bed and indicates for Riley to do the same.

Anna Marie: Rogue, Former Mutant “I could spit on him, if I wasn’t a lady.” When the young man looked at her and asked her why she was there, she tried to shrug and remembered the restraints. She made a frustrated grunting sound, before looking at him, “I dunno. I'd like to know, but I don't.” She sighed heavily. When Riley moved to let her go, Rogue struggled, trying to loosen the restraints, and looked thankfully but sadly at Riley when the voice came through on the speaker. “Thanks for tryin'” She said with a small grimace. “Puttin' a collar on me!?” Rogue exclaimed, “I'm not an animal, I'm nothin'! Why am I bein' treated like this?” Rogue stopped moving, exhaling very heavily. “I'm done.” Rogue closed her eyes. “Since takin' that cure, nothin' no better has happened to me.” She spoke softly, sadly to herself.

Riley was rather upset she could not free Rogue. She was also a bit suspicious and annoyed at Royce's quick compliance and accusation that she wasn't listening.
Riley's cat ears laid flat against the sides of her head and she maid a pouting face. "I'm sorry, Rogue." she said just before literally pouncing back onto her own bed. She crouched there, tail swaying, as if ready to pounce again. They told her to return to her bed, not to lay down, so she was obeying.
"Why are you doing this to us, and to her?" Riley asked at the speaker, assuming there was a microphone there as well. "I'm sorry Rogue. You shouldn't be the one still strapped down, you're not an animal. I might be, I'm honestly not sure what I am."
Riley then and laid down on her tummy facing the door this time. Her stance was much more like an animal than a human. She was still unsure if they intended to have her strapped down again or not.

Royce sighed as he rubbed his arm with a grimace of pain. There was a fresh bandage there that he scowled at for a moment before staring at the ceiling absently.
The door opened and the two guards entered the room.
"Come with us." One of the guards states to Riley flatly. The speaker is male; yet his colleague is female. They are dressed in black SWAT suits, with padded chest protection and full face masks that show only their eyes. They hold their dart guns with weapon- ized cure darts and sleeping darts at the ready. The female's weapon is aimed at Riley; the other is aimed generally at the mutant captives. The male has brown eyes; the female has hazel eyes.
"You need to have your blood drawn. Come into the other room." The man nods towards the door.
"Walk to the door now."

Riley continued to look sad as the two guards came in for her. It seemed like both of the other captives had given up all hope and it was starting to rub off on Riley. Maybe she had to be the one to step up and give them hope; or maybe she should just give in and comply. Either way she didn't think she could take 2 armed and armored guards. She could probably take down one, but two was way to risky.
The still tall and skinny cat-girl carefully climbed down from the bed and walked towards the door. "Okay, I'll behave, but could I please have some clothes, or at least something to eat? I've not eaten in... a week, or two?" Riley wasn't sure, it was hard to keep track of time in that cage with the sunlamp on all the time.

"Of course you can have something to eat. Something will be brought in for every one. Now come inside the office. Nice and easy, now." The guard encouraged. The female led the way, scanning her eye in the door way for the door to open.
You learn that this interior door has a biometric lock
The door clicked open and the female stepped inside. The two guards stood at attention as they waited for Riley to enter the room.
The speaker pressed an intercom button on the wall. "The subjects are hungry. Request meal delivery." "Laurel has had that one on photosynthesis for like a week, hasn't she? We'll get something delivered. Are they cooperating? Do you need back up?"
The guard paused, glancing towards Riley. He is likely waiting to see if she'll comply with the direction to enter the office.

Riley took note of the scanner on the door and would try to discreetly get a good look at their eyes, preferably the female's that opened the door. She could usually fool most people if she tried, but wasn't sure if she could fool a scanner. It would still be worth a try.
After listening to the man talk through the intercom, Riley complied. She didn't want them to send in back up. If she could get one of them alone in fact, that would greatly increased her odds.
She walked into the room with a bit of a sly smile towards the male. She knew she must have been rather attractive to most men in her current form. She even teased him a bit more by swishing her tail between his legs, hopefully out of view of the female guard.

"There's no fraternizing."
The male guard told Riley firmly, but not unkindly. The door closed with a 'swish' and Riley realized that she could not hear Rogue or Royce. There was a bank of cameras with two angles of the room - one a full length of the room and one a close up of the three occupied beds.
"Have a seat." The female guided Riley over to a stool facing one of the desks. She plucked up a lap coat and turned it a moment, inspecting the pockets. Once she was certain that they were empty, she draped the coat over Riley's shoulders. It was more clothing than she'd ever had here.
The other door opened and a scientist walked in. A gray clad man pushing a steel cart with three domed serving platters followed her inside. The guard stood and inspected the man's badge for a moment before allowing the man to place a platter in front of Riley. The man removed the top to reveal a green salad with tomatoes and carrots, grilled salmon and a buttered roll. A plastic spork was present.
Two of the guards followed the man into the other room, the door closing quickly. Royce and Rogue's restraints on their shoulders, waist and hands were removed. The guards choose to loop a elastic cord around their left ankles to a small metal beeping device. Rogue and Riley were presented with a meal: a green salad with tomatoes and carrots, grilled salmon and a buttered roll. A plastic spork was present. A carton of milk was placed beside each tray - the man paused by Riley before departing to place hers.
Two guards remain in the room with Rogue and Royce; and two with Riley. The scientist glanced at Riley and activated her computer, opening a spread sheet. She surveyed what she read in silence for a beat.

Riley looked a bit annoyed at the male guard. He did quote policy, maybe it was more for his own sake then hers. She then gave a bit of a smug look when the female gifted her with the lab coat. It was a little childish and teasing, especially with the large cat ears she had. She hoped teasing the guards a bit might make them relax, and less likely to shoot.
"Thank you." she said sincerely to the female guard, looking her In the eyes when she did, hoping to memorize them enough to fool the scanner. She buttoned the top few buttons, but kept the rubber underneath. The lab coat wasn't much, but was something and might come in handy in trying ti imitate a scientist.
She hesitated only for a few seconds before she started to eat the meal. she was very hungry, but wanted to shrink down the fangs she had formed in her mouth before starting, she had grown them in case she needed to subdue a guard quickly.
She ate quickly and drank her milk, but kept her eyes fixated on what the scientist was doing. She even dared to ask "What are you doing?"

Anna Marie: Rogue, Former Mutant “I could spit on him, if I wasn’t a lady.” Rogue half smiled at Riley when she apolgised to her, “It's alright, Riley. There's nothin' you can do, but thanks fer trying.” Rogue said sadly. She watched the girl get led away and out of the room, and she turned her head to look at Royce. “So why are you here? Got any information to share? Because I'm confused.” She asked quietly, her eyes focusing on the bandage that he had shown irritation with. As soon as she had spoken, food was brought in for them. Riley had said something about food. This would be something to thank the other girl for when she returned. If she returned. Rogue shouldn't think that way, but she had no idea what was happening in this place. The restraints coming off made Rogue feel a lot more comfortable, however, and she almost smiled as she sat up. She found herself ravenous, and quickly took to eating the food that had been presented to her.

The scientist glanced at Riley and then gestured to her computer.
"I'm looking at your genetic make up." She explained politely.
"These are your genes." She indicated the rows of code on the screen.
"Im comparing them to Royce's. You both can alter your skin, so I'm trying to see what you have in common, here."
She studies the screens with concentration for a few moments. "There's not much to go on, yet. I'd like to take your blood, Riley. I know that the other group had made you use your mutation too much. I know that must have been tiring."
The scientist's voice was sypathethic, matched by the kindness in her eyes.
"Yet your under my jurisdiction, now. I'd like to be able to treat you better and let you have more freedom. You will get real food, a warm bed and real clothes. If you cooperate, you have full run of the facilities, including the swimming pool and the cafeteria.
We want to pinpoint your speciifc genes to help create mutants like you. Something bad is going on. The government is forcing mutants to register. Soon, they can target us and pinpoint us and eliminate us. If we have the abilities to defend ourselves, we won't be carted off to concentration camps. We'll be able to defend our fellow mutants.
What do you think?"
Riley can hear what Rogue & Royce are saying in the other room. Rogue can not hear Riley. "I dont know why I'm here, specifically... but I think I have an idea on whats going on."
Royce said as he ate his salmon.
"They've been taking our blood in that lab, there. Theres also super computers - the kind that sequence genes. They've been discussing and testing our abilities. For example, I have elastic skin. For the first two weeks, they tested my limatations.
Now I'm in here for 'advanced' training. The security here is more lax. There was a locked glass cell before, now we're locked in by biometric locks and monitored by guards constantly.
The training... is wierd. They give you injections of other peoples' mutations and test you to see if its manifesting. I know that if you comply, they release you from constant watch. Justin and Kelly are freely wandering around this place, from what I hear. But.. I don't want thier injections. So they keep me locked up here.
What about you? Where did they grab you? They grabbed me on the way home from school."

Riley continued to eat as she listened to the scientist. It didn't take her too long before she devoured the entire meal. She was hungry enough and they already knew all about her mutation so she didn't mind letting them see how she ate when she was alone. She ate like an animal, or multiple animals, her teeth changed as needed for the different foods, and her mouth even expanded so she could devour the salmon somewhat like a bear might.
When she was finished she shifted her mouth back to a more normal human state, but it was still wider than it was before, making Riley look slightly different.
She gave a bit of thought about what the scientist and what Rogue and Royce said outside before responding. She stuttered a bit in her reply. She was good at imitating others, but expressing her own thoughts was a bit difficult.
"I think, you're just as bad as the government, if not worse. I'd rather us be registered than abducted on our way to school. With registration I might of even known who or what I am. You fear them rounding you up into concentration camps but look what you've done to us. You fear them being able to track you, yet somehow you've managed to find me, and I don't keep the same face for more than a week at a time."
Riley looked to the two in the other room, recalled their conversation, and remembered something she had read when pretending to be a student. "From a glass cage to a gilded one." she muttered before looking back to the scientist definitely and indicating the captives in the other room to her. "Give them the option to leave, or I won't let you have my blood."
Riley hoped they might comply, that there might be hope, but she knew it was unlikely, and prepared to make things difficult. If the scientist attempts to take her blood, or the guards ready their weapons on her again. They will see Riley's skin rapidly change into very thick scales.
The scales were a trait given to her, in part, by the salmon they just gave her. She had no idea if they would stop a needle, or the darts, but it was worth a try. At the very least it would make things difficult for them.

"All right." The scientist locked her computer screen and faced Riley. As Riley spoke, the guards merely stood beside the remaining door that presumably led out to the facility. They stand at the ready, but do not threaten Riley with thier posture. "You have the right to think that. I know that you haven't been treated well, here. My collegue runs the Laboratory and we subscribe to different methods. I understand that you were restrained and forced to exhibit your mutation. Is that right?" The scientist waited for a bit before continuing. "We have every intention of releasing you, Riley. This place is a final stop. We recruit those who agree with us and release those who do not. " She glanced to the guards. "Why don't you bring in Rogue and Royce? He's at the point to be asked the question and we can inform the girls at the same time." The guards comply, moving to the other room and unstrapping Royce and Rogue. The two are escorted in with Riley and informed to sit in two chairs beside her. The scientist waited for them before she continued. "The facts are these: - There is a branch of military who are abducting mutants. They have not - as far as we know - disclosed thier dealings to the President or the chain of command. I believe they even attacked a school for the gifted.
- These people are not training or helping these mutants. We never see them again after thier abductions. We believe that they are incarcerated, perhaps even killed.
- We are attempting to advance our own mutations to fight against this operation. We intend to use the most useful abilities and train mutants against the threat. We have a small force already."
The scientist paused to await responses.

Anna Marie: Rogue, Former Mutant “I could spit on him, if I wasn’t a lady.” Rogue listened to Royce, slightly suspicious. How did he know all these things, she wondered. Her eyes closed and she exhaled through her nose. Rogue was about to reply when the guards came in to take the two of them to the room where Riley was. She walked in and sat down, listening to everything that was told to them, and the girl frowned. “I took the cure... I'm not a mutant. Why am I here? I want to know that.” Rogue asked, clearly irritated with the situation.

"The cure..." The scientist was silent for a moment.
"The cure is not technically a cure. We have observed that some who took the cure have had their powers return. Mystique - the woman who used to transform, I believe that is her name - is the most recent one to have her powers return. We don't have enough data to know if this will happen to every one. The answer is in your blood - if your genetic code still displays the gene for mutation; uninhibited by what was administered to you."
