The people with Beast drove along a highway for some minutes, until they turned on a little used road. Greenery was in bloom all around the road. In fifteen minutes, a facility could be seen on a plot of green grass. The facility was surrounded by a fence topped with barbed wire. No people were seen any where about. Two signs were posted ' Private Property' & 'Keep Out!' The building was two stories, square, grey brick with few windows.
Beast evaluated the area for a minute with a frown.
"No sign of wrong doing. Could be a prison. Or a warehouse housing expensive goods."
"Havoc, Lacey and Shade, stay with me in the van, please. Logan and Mystique, exit the vehicle. I want the two of you to stay together and examine the far north wall. See if you can find any signs that this is an illegal operations. You've all seen their vehicles - checking the vehicle bay that's likely back there is a good start."
Beast turned back towards the building, studying the enigmatic building.
"Is any one... sensing anything?" He asked, glancing towards Lacey.

Logan approached the fence warily, listening out and sniffing the air to see if his own heightened senses could pick anything up about their surroundings. As the claws slid out through the skin of his right hand, a quick slash was enough to split a vertical cut in the fence from chest-height to ground level. Logan carefully bent down and started to lift the bottom of the fence to make a gap large enough for Mystique to get through.
"Sneaking around's more your style Blue. Any suggestions for when we get inside?"

Alexander Summers “Havoc”: The Fallen Summers Boy “The Brotherhood is not about senseless killing. It is about assuring that mutants will live in peace. With themselves, with each other, and amongst humans” “Have fun you two,” Alex teased with a playful smirk. When they left he leaned back and pulled out a pack of gum. “Gum? It's blueberry.”He glanced at Beast and chuckled. “Just like old times...” He looked back at Lacey and Shade. “First mission is always the worst. It's gets easier the more field time you clock.”

Mystique & Wolverine
Glancing within the wire fence, you see several yards of rolling green grass leading up to the building. There's a large wooden garage door on the wall facing you. It could be a vehicle bay that Beast mentioned. Beside the garage door, there is asphalt parking area. A helicopter pad is prominent.

Lacy Rogan: Telepath and Manipulator "Have you ever listened to someone? Not just, like, heard them, but actually listened to someone? You see, I do listen to people. I listen so deep that I hear their thoughts, and once I do that... Well, I find what makes them tick and light a fire underneath that. It's such a thrill to watch someone explode with emotions that I've engorged. You should try it sometime." Lacy rode in silence, butterflies in her stomach. She'd gotten them the first time she'd gone to a debate match. She'd gotten them the first time she'd opened her legs for a cute boy as well. So, while she wasn't exactly surprised with the butterflies, they still unsettled her and quieted her otherwise outgoing nature. As Beast spoke to her, issuing orders, she snapped to attention and smiled. At his question, she closed her eyes and directed her attention toward the buildings. "Gimme a sec and I'll let you know what I hear..." She let her screen down, tuning out those in the van and focusing on the minds she could find within the buildings.

Not requiring a uniform myself, I was one of the first to reach the van - Before those having to pick up uniforms anyway.
At Beast’s instruction, I got out of the van and followed Wolverine to the fence, which he sliced and held open for me – Ever the gentleman, eh Logan? I said nothing aloud, partly for stealth but mainly because I no longer sported a human mouth: I’d morphed to the cat-like form I’d used recently in the mansion. Up close, it wouldn’t fool anyone, but at a distance? Via camera? Probably passable.
I brushed deliberately past Wolverine’s leg as I slipped through the opening in the fence and headed toward the building as discreetly as this form allowed. Hopefully, even if I was spotted on CCTV the observer would dismiss me as a stray animal.
Unfortunately, due to the non-humanoid morph I lost the ability to speak and would not be able to communicate until I demorphed to my regular self or other humanoid form. Apart from possible mental communication with Lacy, I guess… Either way, I couldn’t answer Logan’s question yet. A shame really, as I quite liked his new pet-name for me – it wasn’t even slightly insulting, so perhaps he was in a good mood?
I traversed the grassy area up to the wall of the building, then slinked along the wall to the large wooden garage door, looking for any CCTV cameras, vents or holes to slip through, or mechanism for opening the garage door that I could try to pick/bypass – I was quite skilled at most kinds of lock, and though Logan could doubtless slice the wooden door open quick and easy, picking the lock would be far more stealthy. Seeing no cameras pointed our way, I demorphed and signalled Wolverine the all-clear to join me.
Once more at my regular height, I looked around and saw the empty parking area and helipad. I had a hunch there may not be anyone home here, though of course that may just be subterfuge…

Mystique and Logan reached a garage door. The door was wooden and wide enough for two cards to pass through. There did not seem to be a regular door around. Tugging on the handle would prove that the door was locked. There was a space of about three inches below the door frame and the asphalt. Peeking below reveals only blackness. There is no lock beyond what one would assume would be a garage door opener.

I tried the door handle, to no avail. There was a remote sensor for a garage door opener, which I could defeat if I had the right tools, which I didn’t right now. No, our best bet for getting inside was the 3-inch gap below the door, leading into darkness. While in cat form I could probably squeeze under this gap, and see better with cat eyes, I had a better idea – I morphed a pit-viper and slithered easily through the gap. It may not have the best night-vision, but it could sense heat sources at limited range and has excellent hearing for its size.
I may not be able to mimic the effect of its venom, but I still had sharp fangs and lightning reflexes to defend myself if necessary, and most people don’t take a chance with snakes, which also worked in my favour – I hoped.
Once inside, I listened carefully for movement or breathing etc, and tried to determine any nearby heat sources, like people or recently used engines. I also tasted the air with my forked tongue: How fresh was the air? Any lingering car fumes or cigarette smoke?
If I didn’t detect any threats, I’d demorph and look for a way to open the door for Logan, preferably without too much noise that might give us away.

As Mystique slipped under the door in her pit viper form, she detected two things: warmth. Noise. Slithering closer, she discovered a vintage old style truck and a pair of young boys at the wheel, playing with the inert vehicle. Someone was talking through a wooden door leading to the main complex.
In the van, Lacey heard two people 'moving' inside, their thoughts busy with preparation. One was a man who was thinking about brewing some home style beer to be correct with the upcoming reenactment. The second was a female, who was largely worried about hosting so many reenacters. Families, now. Families with children in tight fitting, uncomfortable clothes who would get cranky once the fun of dress up passed; and how would she keep all of the families happy...

"Two civilians, it seems... One male, one female. Neither seem to be terribly concerned about prisoners of any sort. One's thinking about beer, the other about kids during a reenactment... Play of some sort, likely. I couldn't get more at this distance. Also might be more people in there that I'm not picking up yet."

Not detecting any immediate threat, but hearing boys at play, I decided to switch to feline form rather than demorph just yet. The cat had better all-round senses to explore with, especially night-adapted vision, and its agility would make exploring a cinch. Particularly as it was one of my favourite and most-practised non-humanoid forms.
I saw the old truck, heard nothing to remotely suggest military, and couldn't even smell gun-oil (Though admittedly it was possible some scents may still elude me in my current state of partial recovery). I did a brief reccy, finding a way to open the door if we decided to later, kept out of sight as best I could, then squeezed back out the way I'd gotten in and demorphed to brief Wolverine.
“Couple of kids playing in an old truck. No sign of any military presence so far. I'm going back in to check out an interesting door, just thought I'd give you an update. Do you still want me to let you in, or would you rather not alarm the kids? My cat-ears will hear you from inside, even if you whisper through the gap, but obviously I need to demorph to reply.”
With that, I became a cat again and squeezed back inside, slinking over to the door I'd heard talking beyond, trying to determine the topic of conversation without being spotted by anyone.

Logan closed his eyes as Mystique did her own thing and sniffed the air. This place didn't smell like what they were looking for... any military or terrorist group run base wouldn't be this incompetently unguarded. With leaning his ear against the door he could pick out the tone of the conversations if not the content.
"We're wasting time here... this isn't it." Logan muttered to Mystique, turning and heading back towards the fence where they snuck in.

As Mystique spied on the door, she overheard a man and woman discussing party platter. The crab cakes were done, the egg salad was cooling and the hot appetizers needed to be cooked. None of this was period setting, but people would appreciate it...
The children continue to play, talking about seeing 'Uncle Johnny' and 'playing soldiers in the Union'.
Logan didn't smell any thing to indicate that this was a military operation.
"Thank you, Lacy." Beast nodded. "I'm thinking that this is a bust. I'll go check on Logan and Mystique. Would you three please stay here and make sure no enemy air craft flies over head without us seeing?"
Beasts' tone was jovial - he didn't expect aircraft; but were this the actual site; he would be giving Havoc and the girls such observation assignments. Beast exited the van and headed quietly towards Logan and Raven. He plucked the cut fence with his hand, peering in to look for the others... ready to signal them to fall back unless they looked like they had found something.

"Wrong site Hank." Logan commented as he approached the fence and the blue-furred mutant that awaited him.
"No guards, no guns and no mutants besides us. Guess we hit up the next location."

I stuck around just long enough to tell the previously-muffled conversation beyond the wooden door was of no interest to us then turned tail, squeezed out from under the garage door, and loped off after Logan. I was quick enough to catch their conversation.
“Meow.” I 'said' in concurrence with Logan, nuzzling his knee as I passed on my way back to the van. When I reached it, I hopped inside and demorphed on an empty seat, buckling myself in.

"Yes, you were right, Lacy. This is a reenactment camp of sorts... who apparently ensured no aircraft would fly over. Its odd, but not criminal."
Beast sat down in the passenger side of the van and dialed Storm's number. "A bust," He relayed when it was picked up. "- we're headed to the next site."
"Logan, would you do the honors? East on this road for about 5 minutes, then we get on the freeway."

"Sure, sure." Logan broke off from scratching between the knuckles of his right hand and started the vehicle up once more, repeating Beast's instructions to himself under his breath. As much as he didn't like killing (despite the ease in which he was capable of taking lives) he was always restless and on edge when there wasn't any action to be found.
Reconnaissance wasn't really his strong suit, but should they find the military base his... skills would certainly come in handy. The Wolverine was the best at what he did, it was just what he did best wasn't very nice.

Lacy asked if she was right – About what, I didn't know. But Beast replied, so it must've been something she told him when Logan and I were out of earshot.
The aircraft no-fly-zone thing was very odd, and really the only interesting thing we'd found here. It wasn't enough to keep us here, but it was a possible lead if the third location turned out to be a bust.
More driving. Fun. But at least I had a 'little' entertainment for the journey – My seat was right in line with the main mirror, and through it I had line-of-sight with Logan's face. Anytime he used that mirror, I'd be looking right back at him; occasionally winking or licking my teeth or some such other distraction to show him I was interested in him.
He hadn't really reacted when I'd rubbed my feline body against his leg as I'd passed him, on more than one occasion – Perhaps something a little more direct, like this, might get his attention. And hopefully not kill us all in a motor accident along the way!
I did TRY to be subtle, so only Wolverine would notice... I hoped it didn't bother Lacy.
I looked to Shade; “So I guess you didn't get to do much yet, huh? Why don't you join Logan and I on recon duty at the next location? - If Beast doesn't mind?”
I knew I wasn't in charge of anyone, but if he wanted to feel useful on this mission I wanted to give him that opportunity. Besides, with Logan around Shade was unlikely to be in any real danger. As leader of our team, Beast had the final say on who went with whom, so it was always wise to include him.

Shade: Shadow Dancer “We are not defined by the family into which we are born, but the one we choose and create. We are not born, we become." He'd been quiet so far, taking in what was happening. Filing it all away. Sitting in a car, he was all but useless, which was why he nodded when it was suggested he go along with them on the next go-round. "I'm good at what I do. I can deal with reconnaissance." Shade still had the goggles, and was having just a touch difficulty seeing properly. He seriously hoped they had nightvision goggles of some sort.

"No, he has to get his feet wet sometime. Perhaps it ought to have been against reenactments." Beast reflected as he waited for the phone call to be answered.
"So this time lets do a deployment of Raven, Shade and Lacey in first. We know that this is likely the real deal; so we'll need you to look after each other. Determine the best way to infiltrate and where the children are.
Havoc, Wolverine and I will circle around the back and stand by for any indications that you're in trouble. We'll try and disable the transports. Last time this went down, they escaped in a very orderly fashion. Like they had a protocol. Ideas?"

I nodded at Beast's suggestions “Sounds good to me.”
After he asked for ideas, I thought for a moment. “Miss Lacy can let us know when we're approaching, or being approached by, any potential combatants, and also whether they know we're there or not. Shade can be our lock-smith, getting us in and out in his own unique way...” I paused to smile at him before continuing. Hopefully he'd take it as a friendly gesture. “...And I'm sure his vision will be of enormous help in the dark places, spotting potential booby-traps, lazers, and suchlike so we don't set off the alarms. I'll be there to disable or bypass surveillance and other security devices – if anyone has a small screwdriver or something I can borrow it would make that easier. I'll also help decide when we need backup and of course I'll help defend our new friends here if/when we get in trouble to give your B-team chance to reach us and teach them a lesson. I'm anticipating that Miss Lacy could call for backup mentally, if you're not too far away... Of course, a communicator will probably be just as good. Between us, Miss Lacy and I will gather intel from the personnel and/or any computer systems we encounter to determine who is where and who we should be rescuing. All assuming, of course, that this location isn't a bust like the last one.” I finished light-heartedly, I wasn't used to this much talking.
It hadn't escaped my attention that Beast had assigned two juniors and myself as a team; Inferring that I was being put in charge of ensuring their safety. To me, this was no small thing – I appreciated the level of trust he was showing me, and I'd do whatever it took not to disappoint.

Going in on a mission was a lot different from sitting back in the van and 'listening' in on events. She looked from Beast to Mystique as the latter began to outline a plan of action. Lacy found her stomach settling. While she certainly trusted Beast more than she did Mystique, she also trusted Beast's judgment with the division of manpower here. She nodded and gave a pretty smile. "I think I can. A directed 'shout' or 'scream' should be heard from within the building... but anyone else with any sort of telepathic ability will also likely pick up on it. Would be kind of like screaming your head off in a room. Everyone who's listening can hear it, only on a psychic level. So, if we can avoid that, let's do so." Of course there was also the fact that she could dampen someone's will to fight or desire to attack just by quelling those emotion centers. She looked to Shade and smiled at him. "Stick by me though this?"

The van soon arrived at site 3. Now that the team was onsite, Beast reminded them of his earlier order:
deployment of Raven, Shade and Lacey in first. We know that this is likely the real deal; so we'll need you to look after each other. Determine the best way to infiltrate and where the children are.
Havoc, Wolverine and I will circle around the back and stand by for any indications that you're in trouble. We'll look in the back for signs that the children are being held.'
Beast descended from the van and beckoned for Havoc and Wolverine to join him. "We're headed around the back. You three go up the side. Look for signs of the children or the black clad men who abducted Rogue. "
Beast turned and walked towards the back of the facility. This was a two level facility with a fence topped with barbed wire. There was a front door into the facility and one back door that was steel. There was a helopad out back for helicopters and two were visible.

When we arrived and Beast gave us the go-ahead to deploy, I nodded and exited the van. I waited for Shade and Lacy to join me before starting the direction Beast had suggested.
“I haven't yet seen your powers in action, Shade, so if you can get us inside undetected I guess we'll follow your lead for now – Just let us know what you need of us, and any side-effects to your powers we may encounter in the process?” Well, as Beast had agreed: He hadn't had much opportunity to join in at the last location. - Why not let him take point 'til we were inside the building?
“As you may have guessed, when I shift to non-humanoid forms I usually lose the ability to talk. I hope Miss Lacy would help facilitate communications between us as the need arises?” Ok, so it was a bit of an after-thought, but it was only proper to ask rather than assume, right?
I kept my eyes and ears open as our group made its move.
