"Sleeping flowers." Abigail states quietly, her eyes round. "I wonder if it will be like that one game...where every thing was poison. I didn't like that game."
The two tributes in front of Jace & Abigail, females from District 10 and 11, glance back at you. The female from District 11 stood at 5'10'' and was whip thin. Her eyes went to Abigail as she stated. "That wasn't too long ago. I'm sure that they wouldn't use that too soon." She was trying to be reassuring. You thought her name was Sorrel. The girl from 10, Quaile who stood at 5'5'' with brown hair; quickly glanced away from Abigail.
Jasmine was beckoned forward. As she took her place in the tunnel, those in line could see that the wheel spun round and round... landing on Dark Turquoise. The tunnel in front of Jasmine transformed into a series of smooth grey rocks lining a shallow riverbed. A small path about a foot wide ran beside the riverbed. As you watched, the water began to swell, licking the sides of the rocks. It was a flood, like the sort that had come after Bobbeh, Chisel, Conrad, Cypress & Vibrance in the last Hunger Games. It was clear that she would need to outrun the water...

Jace soon was beckoned to the front of the tunnel after many others had ran thier turn. . His wheel began to spin, finally landing on a sort of blue. As you step into the tunnel, the ground beneath your feet transforms into a million small grey pebbles. A kiss of wind touches your lips, carried with a scent of water. Your ears hear a forien noise and upon glancing around, you realize it is waves laping the side of larger stones. You are standing beside a lake with a bank composed of uneven stones. The wind began to howl in your ears, causing the lake to erupt in larger, more forceful waves. The surf washed over you, flecking you with water. More importantly, the rocks beneath your feet would begin to become slick...

Jace Colton
"I'll help you learn about plants. So you'll know what's bad and what's okay. What's safe to eat and what's poison. We have time enough for that sort of thing, I think." He patted her shoulder, and moved up to the wheel again.
A few of them were still laughing as he spun. Laughing, and whispering under their breath. Careers who had been trained to deal with situations such as this in their sleep.
Jace--and the others--hadn't had that sort of upbringing, and Jace didn't think he would want one like that. He'd rather live a short life like the one he'd had, with people who loved him and treasured him enough to mourn his loss, than a long one as a Victor of a District who'd train their children to kill and die, and saw them as nothing more than a meal-ticket.
They laughed, and when the wind started to lash and the waves made the rocks and pebbles wet, Jace clenched his jaw. Dug down into his reserves of inner-strength, and took off at a dead run...
...Effortless. That's how it felt, and how it looked to anyone watching. Effortless and quick. Jace Colton, wiry and dark and somewhat sweet, was terrifyingly quick and nimble when he needed to be [Fleet of Foot 2], flying over obstacles and navigating slick rocks with a determined ease that shocked even himself.
And he skidded to a stop on the other side, windlashed and wet and somewhat breathless, looking over his shoulder at the speechless Careers. A long, challenging look.
Helpless and an easy-mark I am not.
And then there's a cursory look to the instructor, and he smiles sweetly. Plays oblivious and innocent.
Probably fails at the 'oblivious' part.
"How was that?"

The trainer is clearly impressed; but gives Jace a rather blank look at the question. This was yet another measuring stick used by the Gamemakers and the trainer had very little to impart here. Either the tributes made it through or they didn't. His part in the equation was rather moot.
"Well," The trainer decided. "-take your place." He turned and indicated where Silver, Luci, Tank and Rory waited. Silver stood apart from the others, hands on his hips. He had clearly been watching Jace.
The trainer was already turning back to the tunnel to see how the others fared.

Lallek rolled 1 dice to "Str+Brawl" 2 (0 successes)
The runt from District 4 tried to hit the trainer but failed miserably. A take down was certainly out of the question. Despite this, Lallek gives it his all though, in this instance, his all doesn't amount to much.

The trainer stated that he'd help Lallek learn some more hand to hand techniques after the madatory training session. "Many people come in here unable to defend themselves." He assured Lallek. "You'll learn something from me."
Once in line at the mandatory training of the weather center, Lallek witnessed as the others attempted the climate tunnel. Jace had just breezed through the tunnel as though it were the easiest thing in the world. Perhaps he'd be a good ally at a lake.
All too soon, it was Lallek's turn. "Step up." The trainer encouraged Lallek. As he did so, the wheel spun around and around, ending up on red. It was the same climate as Tank had to face - and you recall, Tank had made it through.
Lallek discovered the first thing about red was that it was hot. Heat seemed to sear the air around him. It rushed down his throat as he inhaled and caused sweat to drip into his eyes. Wiping his brow for a good look at the tunnel before him proved that he was in for a treat. Thick, old trees were fallen across his path. The sounds of fire crackled nearby; but Lallek can't see a flame. He has to touch the trees to vault over them and the old bark radiates with heat, burning his hands. Every surface here was hot to the touch...

He goes as fast as he can as hard as he can. This was not like home. This was unlike anything he was used too. Lallek had run on hot rocks before, but nothing like this. Still he keeps his head down and legs moving. He would make it.

Lallek vaults over a fallen tree, landing on a dried brush. Sparks flare up around his feet, but he continues to run through the fallen timber. Twice more he has to clamber over objects in his path, his hands stinging from the heat radiating from them. Sweat forms on his brow, stinging his eyes. When he does race out of the other end, perspiration clings to him. Yet he made it. Silver glances towards him, scowling. The others are also there: Rory, Luci, Tank and Jace.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine took a breath, held it, spun the wheel as she stepped into the tunnel. Dark turquoise, what could that mean? She watched the tunnel reform before her. A riverbed, smooth stones and a pleasant path on one side. That ain't bad at all, the thought rolled through her head.
That was before the sound of rushing water caught her attention. She glanced over her shoulder, saw the rising wave and broke out into a sprint along the path. Her mind didn't pause to worry about the sudden absence of the anxiety-butterflies there, didn't give time to think about what would happen if that water caught her. She's have to worry about her lack of swimming ability if it did. And for now, she was completely in fight or flight mode, well... flight mode at least.
She pumped her arms, using her long legs that helped her climb all the better to stay a step or two ahead of the water. And suddenly she seemed to be doing something miraculous, at least miraculous to her: she was out running the water. For a moment, she felt it lapping at her heels, then her feet were solidly on dry stone, and half a moment later (and thankfully just after her lungs began to really burn and ache for proper air) she found herself at the end, racing up a small hill and away from the torrent of water.
She stopped and bent over, hands on her knees, feeling horribly flushed and out of breath, gasping in what felt like lungfuls as sweat dribbled off her forehead and spotted her forearms, making dark circles on her uniform. She straightened after a couple moments, looked at the other tributes, then at the gamemakers in their booth, and finally the trainer. She felt good.
See... that wasn't so bad, she thought to herself. "Whoo, morning run. Who'd miss it?"

Femra: District 8 Female
Those pictures were disgusting. I have an uneasy stomach, and that made me nauseous. I really hope none of my allies, or myself, break anything. Being the medically talented, I still don't think I could manage. I have to pass though, so I do what I have to do.
I take the splint and reset it. All I hear is a "crack" and the bone moves back to place. That wasn't so hard, I thought to myself. I was feeling more positive after I didn't fail. I take the splint and put it over the bone. I snap the splint in place, and hand the bone and splint to my trainer.
"So, what's next?" I say joyfully.

The trainer stated that she would help Femra learn some more first aid techniques after the madatory training session. "Many people come in here unable to heal themselves or their allies." She assured Femra. "Come back after you've passed the weather tunnel."
Once in line at the mandatory training of the weather center, Femra witnessed as the others attempted the climate tunnel. Jace had just breezed through the tunnel as though it were the easiest thing in the world. Perhaps he'd be a good ally at a lake. Another girl - Jasmine, you think her name is- easily outran a rushing flood. You wonder what your challenge will be.

I take the place the trainer told me to stand on. I glance over my shoulder at the remaining tributes. None of them look to excited to be in line.

As Femra stepped up to the tunnel, the wheel began to turn. The dial swung to a light green, the color of new growth. The arena reset to rolling, grassy hills dotted by splendid purple flowers. It looked pleasant. Would Femra remember what had happened to Emily?

I sniff the air, taking in the sweet smell of flower. Smells like home. The forest. I start to daydream, but then remember what I am doing and where I am. I jump back to reality. I think about how well Jasmine, the district 11 girl, did before me. She ran so quickly. When I was in history class in school, they told us about the "Olympics." A game that took place about 100 years ago. Maybe she would be in it because of her fast speed? Or was she chosen and it was a race and whoever came in last was killed?
Again, I jump back to reality. I need to stop doing that, I tell myself. It won't help me in the games. I begin to jog towards the tunnel as the trainer and tributes yell at me for "standing too long." I start sprinting now. I turn my head to see if I'm doing the right thing. Guess so, no one is yelling at me. I wonder what is in store for me.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine was sweaty, and feeling good when she turned around and watched the tunnel adjust and change for the next girl, Femra... Jasmine thought. She smiled and clapped. Why not show good sportsmanship, maybe it would even impress the gamemakers some... or endear her to other tributes. She mentally shrugged it off. It felt good to cheer for someone else for the moment.
When the girl didn't move in her rolling hills of grass, Jasmine raised her hands to cup around her mouth and shouted: "Hey, move along! Don't want something to explode or nothin' underneath you!"
Which was the truth. While Jasmine didn't think another torrent of water was going to smash down on the rolling plain, there were other dangers that could crop up to chase the girl and reminding her to move... Well, she'd had a brother do that to her on occasion.
She frowned, lost in the memory of Nomad, her brother who'd died in the 23rd Hunger Games, for a moment. She drew a breath, put on another smile and shouted encouragement for Femra once more.

As Femra pauses and sniffs the air, an odd feeling overtakes her. Sleepiness. All Femra really wants to do is to lie down in this soft grass and take a long nap. Yet she knew that she couldn't do that. This tunnel was a place of danger. Femra began moving forward, fighting the fatigue that settled around her shoulders like a scarf. Her limbs felt so heavy! Her feet hardly moved! Yet Femra reminded herself of what was at stake and shook of her fatigue, sprinting forward - and out of the tunnel!
She joined Jasmine, Jace, Lallek, Tank and Rory on the other side. Silver stood aloof; glaring,

Femra: District 8 Female
As I ran through the tunnel, I could hear the voices cheering me on. In specific, Jasmine. I could tell that she cared about me. I'm glad that I could add one more to my list of allies. I chase any thoughts - good or bad - how of my head and focus on the tunnel. I jump over a vine that seemed to try and grab my ankle. I swiftly skip over the flowers that uprooted and tried to entangle me. I could do this. Then I see light. I start sprinting quicker, just as my lungs begin to seize and my side begins to ache. I start slowing down as I reach the exit. Panting, I make it and see the faces of my allies, cheering me on. Then there is the face of Silver. Upset that I made it through. I smile, obviously happy that I told him off.
I begin to pant as I go join my allies. I smile once I come within a few feet of where they are. I say "hey" and turn my head to see the next tribute.

Luci watches as one by one they go, and some at least fail. Those who fail are more interesting in a lot of ways. It's good to know what can trip you up.
Jace is impressive, but only on the second time through. Adrenaline and sheer will from failing and being laughed at the first time through bolstered him. But it wouldn't mean anything if he just died the first time through, and he could have easily in the arena. Besides, what he did isn't sustainable long term.
Still, go to know he can pull through in a pinch.
The others aren't a surprise. Careers and Tank who wears his name well.
It's the flowers that interest him. Perhaps there's a way to use them...

Rory Noland: District 7 Female Tribute
Rory glances at Silver. She wants to shoot him a smug look of satisfaction but she’s already made herself a target. So she just gives him a nod. These were her people. If Silver wants to kill them, he'd have to go through her. So they’d meet each other on the field. Soon.
When Jace speaks her head snaps back. Valerian... Note to self: Avoid valerians.
Jace's second way through is more than good. It was amazing. "That was out of this world, Jace."

Silver's expression has lost that smug look. He's glaring at each tribute on his side of the tunnel as though they've personally wronged him in some fashion. Gone is the animated, engaged expression that you saw with Diamond, Emerald, Emily, Topaz or Cade. This is annoyance or at worse, menace. He catches Rory's eye and cocks his head at her, his lips pulling back in a smile.
"Have to get away for the climate to matter."
Silver states quietly. You shoot a glance to the Peace Keepers, but they are watching Emerald approach the tunnel. Silver hasn't moved, after all. No threatening motion has been made that the Peace Keepers actually have to intervene for.
"I don't intend for it to matter." He turns his head as Emerald takes center stage. "And here's my ally. So sure. So strong." So much better than you. His eyes say.
The wheel spun to white. Emerald's green eyes widened, yet she confidently stepped forward. The sound of crunching ice sounds as she slowly walks with her feet shoulders' width apart, never slowing. . The sky turns white as snow flakes spiral down, clinging to Emerald's hair. They pepper her uniform, but she continues striding forward. As she nears, you note that her fists are clenched in tight balls, her knuckles white.
As she steps down from the tunnel, Silver claps an arm around her shoulder. "That's my girl."
Shivering, Emerald leaned against his arm and studies the others with a flat gaze.
Emerald rolled 6 dice to "Navigate ice" 7,5,6,8,9,8 (3 successes)

"Eh. It was a second go-round. Never really dealt with snow and ice before. This? This was simpler." Which was an understatement, but he looked sidelong at Silver. At Emerald.
Yes. They were a threat. And he and Rory were likely the first on their lists to hunt down, assuming they survived the initial blood bath at the Cornicopia.
He had every intention of doing so.
"Thanks, though." He'd always been able to channel things well when he was really determined, and he would't be letting up on his focus. Not again. The terrain, he had just learned, was just as treacherous as the other tribute, so ti was time to step up and master the terrain as well.
They'd laughed, and he'd delivered every time. Between his 'quick pick-up' at the throwing knives and then his effortless movements through the tunnel?
They'd be hunting him, he was sure.
He was damned sure.
Abigail is watched, of course. To see how she fares. The same with Micha. It couldn't hurt to give each other pointers, and he had always been somewhat able to adjust to situations better than most.

Rory Noland: District 7 Female Tribute
Rory’s expression goes neutral. She is normally non-confrontational. Not one to be sarcastic or rude, but Silver is presses all her button and ringing all of her alarms. Even if she dies, Silver can’t win. Rory is going to allow this monster to be released back into the wild.
She’s small. Probably not menacing at all but the look in Rory’s eyes blazes with a fiery resolve. Finally, she smirks. “Funny, I was just about to tell you the same thing.”
Rory blows him a kiss and winks. Now she is just having fun at his expense. Because she knows what he wants and she’s not going to give it to him… That came out wrong. She isn’t going to stoop to him level. Much better.
She chuckles at that. She can’t help because he walked right into her next statement.
“Bad judge of character though.” Rory tells him.
“Don't sell yourself short. That was good foot work. Any meathead can run in a straight line... in the desert.” Rory says pointedly.

"Oh yeah? You think you can take me, tiny?" Silver smirks. Beside him, Emerald smiles. There's no mirth in it. Its predatory, pure and simple. "Like a little rodent." she whispers loudly to Silver, smirking at Rory. "Seems all we have to do is outlast the boy in winter." She observes, just as nasty to Jace. "Shouldn't be hard since we'll take all his gear." Silver smirked.
Rowan stepped up to the tunnel. Her expression was smooth as glass, her eyes clear and focussed. Her mouth was downturned slightly at the corners, perhaps focussing on keeping her composure. Rowan's wheel creaked as it turned about, landing on blue. The same sort of color that Jace had done so well at. Rowan doesn't hesitate as the wind begans to howl and dropets begin to pepper her feet. Her uniform is slowly laced with lake water, but she tucks in her elbows, ducks her head and begins hopping forward. Quick yet controlled, ensuring one foot landed before continuing. Rowan makes excellent time as she leaps from the last pebble down onto the training floor ground.
Rowan rolled 6 dice to "Navigate slippery rocks" 10,3,9,9,3,1,9 (4 successes)
She straightens up and stares directly at Silver and Emerald. The brunnette makes a derisive sniff and steps closer to Rory, taking up a position at the girl's left elbow.
"Careers sure like to crow." She observes just loud enough for all around to hear.
Abigail stepped up next, her face pale and drawn. She bit her lip as her wheel spun around, before it finally landed on red. Fire She expells the breath she had been holding with a little puff. The little girl tucked her head and began to run. Heat seemed to sear the air all around her. The slm girl makes a cry the first time she has to touch a fallen tree to vault over it, inspecting her hand upon landing on the other side. There was no time for breaks in the tunnel. A crashing tree came down in front of her, causing the girl to throw up her hands protectively in front of her face. Lowering her hands, she pensively peers over the crook of her elbow. Keeping her face shielded with one hand, the girl begins to dart around the hot, crackling trees. She clears the tunnel just as the last tree comes crashing down, showering embers where she had been standing moments before.
Abigail rolled 5 dice to "Stamina & Athletics" 6,8,6,10,8,5 (3 successes)
The girl moves quickly to stand behind Jace, eyeing the careers with open fear.
"Its okay, baby." Emerald speaks quietly. "You won't burn."
Rowan's eyes narrow as she leans forward. She makes an obvious glance to the Peace Keeper, still oblivious.

Jace Colton
"Good job, Abby." He grins, not ignoring the Careers so much as making a show of appreciating someone else's talent. He could be nasty and talk down, or he could be civil and give credit where it was worth giving.
And he can learn a thing or two from watching the others who made it through. On the ice? Distribute his weight and take his time. Try not to let the cold get to him. Simple enough.
"I'm not sure if it's that they like to crow, so much as they're incapable of learning from watching someone else succeed at something they failed at."
He smiles, winking at Emerald. "Thanks for the demonstration."

Rory Noland: District 7 Female Tribute
This time Rory chuckles. A full-throated, deep laugh. She hasn’t laughed like that she got here. “Yes, I am small. How remarkably observant of you, Silver. Good job.”
She glances at Emerald and giggles. “Rodent? Really? Seriously, guys I know you can do better… I mean you haven’t even hurt my feelings yet. Let alone scare me. And Jace isn’t the only one you have to outlast.”
Rory’s stance shifts, it’s protective but also just a tiny bit challenging, almost as if she is daring Silver to take a swing. She would love to drop this guy on his butt without even touching him.
Then Jace speak, and a smile breaks her determined gaze. Rory shakes her head. She couldn’t have put it better herself.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine reached out and clapped Femra on the back as she cleared the tunnel to join the other tributes who'd successfully completed the course. She turned her gaze toward the seemingly growing conflict between the careers, Rory and Jace. She decided, then and there, that she didn't like Silver. She wanted to cross the short span and side with the other non-careers, but... the situation fizzled before it really came to a head. Pity, she suddenly wondered if a tribute had died before ever getting into the Arena.
That was probably for the best. Though if they exchanged blows now, Jasmine could say she'd toss her lot in with Rory and company. She gritted her teeth, forced a smile and looked toward the trainer. Maybe it'd be best just to draw their attention to the the growing tension. Innocent method: "Hey, Mr. Trainer guy, can I head over to another station since I've made it through?"
Sure, it was like tattling, but... She didn't want to see Rory and Jace go down here. She didn't want them to go down at all... they weren't exactly antagonistic, but, she just didn't want to drop to a career either.
