Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine tightened her belt with her quiver on it, unslung her bow so it was ready to use and nodded to Rory. She looked on the alliance, then moved over next to Rory with a nod. Getting away from the bulk would give them time to talk quietly. She trusted Rory, and hardly felt that trust was misplaced in the slightest. Provided that Jasmine didn't do something to betray Rory, and she didn't have the inkling to do so, Jasmine felt she could trust her life with Rory. Did trust her life with Rory.
With bow in hand, she lead the way away from their little campsite. She moved with a slight limp, the bandages Tank had applied held firm, but the wound from the birds ached. At least the nick to her shoulder no longer bothered her, and that was just under a day ago. She looked sidelong at Rory.
"I'm'a glad we're tuhgether," she said quietly, once they were out of earshot of the alliance and around a corner. "I ain't said it before, but... I trust yuh, Rory."

Rory Noland: District Seven Female TributeSnow crunched beneath her feet. Snow. It was rare that a kid from district 7 saw snow. Of course it took the Hunger Games from Rory to be surround in a winter wonderland. Her mind went wandering. Rebellion. Grief. Her own death. Would it hurt in the end? People say doesn't hurt right before. That it's like going to sleep. Rory hoped so. However, that being said she'd show the Capitol she wasn't one of their pets. She'd play the game the way she wanted. If she lost she'd die here. If she won, well there was so much she could do with her winnings. So very much. When Jasmine spoke Rory's came back to reality. She was tying off a snare. She didn't even know she could. But here she was. And it didn't look half bad. At least we'll be able to have a decent meal. Rory stood and met Jasmine's eyes. Grey eyes welled with tears and Rory wiped them away. "I trust you too. But you shouldn't. Femra trusted me to keep her alive. A slight bell - like sound carried over the desolate tundra. Raising your eyes skyward; Tank notices four parachutes drifting down. The first one reaches Rowan looks light. She opens the chute and pulls out a small metal box with a canister screwed into it. After a moment of fiddling; she realizes. "Its a portable stove. Probably won't make much smoke." Tank glanced up; awaiting his chute... You haven't posted your buys yet Klo's parachute drifted by her feet. After some fumbling; her hands found a screw top jar containing some stick like objects. They smelled like meat and spices. Micha recieves a bag; opening it to reveal a tarp and some stakes. After some fiddling; she began to slide the stakes through the grommets at the end of the tarp. "Could make shelter with this." She determined. "It could keep the snow off of us." Pearl's bag contained a tin similar to Klo's. Opening it; she smiles. "Some dried fish. Good protein." She closes the container. "We should see if the others bring back something fresh." Further into the tundraRory moved along the flat ground; noticing a disturbance in the snow. Tracks. Likely of a small animal; perhaps a rabbit. Placing a snare here would be a good chance of catching something. Following the trail could mean finding a rodents burrow. Something had to be able to live out here, and the ground held heat... Rory's parachute seemed to have several loose objects within. Opening the flaps of the chute; she finds 2 apples, 2 oranges, 2 bannanas in a mesh bag. There are also 2 pouches of dried fruit and wire for snares. As she looks at the banana, she sees a small glint in the peel. Turning the fruit reveals writing carved into the skin; likely only seen when held at the right angle. She doubted Jasmine could see it. Neural VictorS. Beware (4+9). Unity. Puzzle Jewellery Win. Get HomeJasmine's parachute is heavier and contains a pot and a small tin. Lifting the lid of the pot; she finds a pot of warm lamb stew. The tin contains a flashlight, extra batteries and two pre cut bandages. As she examines her gifts; she notes something discreetly written on the interior of the bandages. stick with 7 good viewing =4 home ditch 9 4

Klo could smell the delicious aroma as soon as she opened the tin... "Ohh!" She moaned. But she had to stop herself from indulging in the succulent snack. She had to save it for when the others left, she would be left with close to no food and she had to save this as it could save her a couple days. Klo could tell t was jerky. She fumbled around with the jerky trying to count how much. There was about 5 portions in the tin. Klo smiled at looked up the sky mouthing "Thank you" with a thumbs up raised towards the sky.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female Femra... It felt like ages since she'd thought of the little girl she'd agreed to help protect and allied with. And she'd died. Jasmine hadn't pulled her off her plate any more than Rory had. She hadn't held the girl to her agreement to flee north and gather in the forest. She hadn't... "It was chaos, Rory..." Jasmine said quietly, starting to search for tracks that they could possibly hunt down some game. "It wasn't your fault. Dun blame yerself, for it, okay? Live for her mem'ry. If'n we don't make it out, who else will? You're keepin' the rest of us strong," and I will help with that burden, "I'll keep on trustin' you... 'n'Tank'n'Rowan." She didn't include Micha or Pearl... Pearl was from a career district, after all, and Micha shared some lineage with Jace. Just how far could they be trusted? As she was setting a group of snares herself, the training at the training center paying off, the soft tones of an approaching chute caught her attention. She finished tying off her snare before catching it and opening it to find food, light, and bandages. All of which brought a smile to her face, though the puzzling note, twisted that smile into one of concentration. "Rory... I've got somethin' here I'd like yuh tuh look at," she said, unrolling the bandage and pointing at the note, though not being entirely obvious that was what she was doing. 1,3,9,8 (2 successes) 2,4,8,6,7,6 (1 successes) 2,5,6,7,2,4 (0 successes) 9,10,5,3,10,6,5,4 (3 successes)

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
She'll be my rock. And I'll be the strong one for everyone else. She was relieved she had Jasmine. Relieved. Rory didn't want to disappoint anyone.Tank... Rowan... Jasmine... they're all counting on me.
Micha and Pearl needed to be let go. She didn't want to kill them but her alliance couldn't have more than four. She doubted the Gamemakers would let four survive but Rory had a plan for that too. One she knew she couldn't let even Jasmine know. No one would understand. Tributes didn't commit suicide in the games. Though, Rory never understood why.
A darkness filled Rory's eyes at the mention of Klo. She remembered Cade. She had killed him. A mercy she called it. She knew then she could do the same to Klo. "No, but they'll leave her come morning."
Rory smiled. "It's a deal. I'll be strong for everyone, if you'll be my rock."
She crouched down next to Jasmine and for a moment she rested her head on the other girl's shoulder. Rory frowned however and righted herself when Jasmine said she had something she needed to tell her. "Please don't tell me you have a secret deal with Lallek too... I couldn't take that."

Rory & Jasmine Rory could follow the tracks in the snow further into the frozen tundra. Surely; a small animal could be found further up ahead. Jasmine also noticed a small depression in the snow. Closer inspection showed that there was a hole - no, a burrow- in the ground here. Perhaps a small animal could be extracted from his home; here. The wind continued to howl; carrying down little shimmering snow flakes. The snow flakes were few now, making gentle swirls in the wind. The cold caused you to want to keep moving; to keep rubbing the exposed skin on your face.
Tank, Rowan, Pearl & Micha
"I have this figured out." Rowan had erected the small portable camp stove on the ground. She has filled her cooking pot with snow and sets it on the platform; flipping the switch. Within a few moments; the coil begins to glow from heat. Rowan held her hands over the stove for a moment. The girl lowered them; stating with a frown.
"Doesn't give off much heat; it won't warm us up. But that water will boil; at least."
She stands; moving to stand next to Tank. She lifts a finger; pointing towards the treeline of the Forrest. "I'm thinking of heading out that way; standing sentry. You okay with it?"

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine nodded, smiling at the food, the fruit. She liked fruit, though the warm stew would be better for the current environment they found themselves in. She was equally glad to have her mentors' support in her alliance with District 7, even though it left her wondering what that meant for Sorrel and Odin. A cloud passed over her face, bringing with it a brief frown. A part of her hoped they were safe and sound... another portion hoped they were near death, so she didn't have to make a hard decision between District 7 and District 11. How could she go home if she sacrificed her own district like that?
She sighed softly. It won't come to that, she told herself, and almost believed it. She nodded again to Rory's declaration of Pearl and Micha. The sooner they left, the better.
"It also means we won't be leaving Klo to die alone," she whispered back. She then stowed the sponsor gifts. "Yuh be strong fer all of us an' I'll be strong fer you. A'ight?"
Thoughts of Femra and Sorrel and Odin swam in her head for a few moments. She pushed them aside, there wasn't anything she could do for Femra, no more than Rory at least. At best, she could survive and make sure the little girl's memory wasn't lost. Then there was Lallek and the spreading darkness Jasmine felt. She'd been ready to plunge Diamond's knife right into Lallek's screaming throat if he'd not woken or Rory'd not left.
As she thought on that, and surprised herself when she came to the same conclusion each time she thought on it, she followed tracks with Rory, right up to the small hole... Burrow. They'd need to check their snares the following day, but this burrow, that might feed 'em now.
"Rory, I gots something to confess, an' somethin' tuh ask of yuh," Jasmine said. "But after we figger a way to tempt whatever calls this home out."

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 FemaleJasmine looped her arm around Rory's shoulders as the other girl's head rested on her shoulder for a moment, giving her a one-armed hug. They were in this together, for better or for worse; going home together. She could easily be Rory's rock. She'd already started to before proposing it. Killing Emerald for her, standing by her at the lake, going back for her when the birds attacked, being ready to kill Lallek when he screamed and she dropped him. Offering quiet words and a shared grief for their lost ally and friend when words of Femra's death reached them. She had been the pillar for her family when Nomad had been on the screen, slowly dying, piece by bloody piece. It was something that she was practiced at. Jasmine offered a smile, going through the motions of making up another snare, as Rory spoke of Jasmine's having a secret deal with Lallek. Though the smile soon faded. "Nuh, I ain't gotta secret deal wit' nobody. Gotta non-aggression pact wiff mah own District, but tha' shouldn't be no surprise." She paused, looking at her handiwork. A nice snare was set in front of the hole. "I was gonna kill Lallek in his sleep at yer feet. Remove 'im assa burden to yuh, an' all of us... And it doesn't bother me tha' I can come to that decision so easily. It kinna scares me a touch." She looked over at Rory. She still had her request to make, but wanted to see how her friend took the news that murdering someone, in their screaming sleep no less, hadn't caused her to think twice. "A bit of fruit to lure the critter out an' this'll snag 'em up. Or meat from my stew if'n that don't work." 9,8,7,6,2,1,7 (2 successes)

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
She was going to kill Lallek... Rory tried to feel bad about that. She wanted to be angry, indignant. But when Rory searched herself all she could find was relief. She had already promised herself to that Lallek would die the next time they crossed paths. Lallek you signed your death warrant the moment you put my people in danger
Rory finally shrugged. "Lallek put everyone in danger. I wish I could have done it."
There was truth in those words. Rory didn't like to ask someone to do something she couldn't do herself. So even if Rory wanted Lallek dead, she would have had to have done it herself. She couldn't asked Jasmine to do her dirty work.
Rory nodded, taking a piece of dried fruit and placing it within the snare. "We should try and keep the meat for ourselves." Then she paused. "It shouldn't scare you. Wanting to kill Lallek in cold blood. It shouldn't scare you. If we make it out of here, then maybe we can be afraid of the things we did, and feel sorry for those we had to kill and those we couldn't save. But here and now, there's nothing you have to apologize for and no one you have to apologize to. You're the bravest person I have ever met."

"All right. " Rowan nods. She moves towards Pearl; indicating the fire. "Watch the water for me; Pearl. Once its boiled; take it off the heat and put in the snow. We can put it in our skins as soon as it stops steaming; so make sure you're all drinking well."
Pearl gives a nod; but watches Rowan for a minute. "Who are you looking for?" "Tributes trying to kill us. Or Mutts." Rowan replies. "There were people by that Lake last night. If the birds visit them; they could run this way too." "And if its..." "And I don't think your mate will come this way." Rowan replies shortly. To the point. "I think we were at odds too much; Pearl. But if I see him; I'll whistle the warning. He may like you; but he may want us dead." A hand to Pearl's arm as Rowan looks the girl in the eye. "Its the Hunger Games; Pearl. Not one of us is going to make it home without making some pretty bad decisions."
Except maybe Rory; because she carries the screamer. Rowan considered; turning and walking towards the tree line. She moves a good fifty feet from the tree line and crouches; watching the trees. She's briskly rubbing her hands over her face; stamping her feet. The movement may help someone see her; but this flat, desolate land offered no shelter in any means.
Pearl looks after Rowan for a beat; then glances towards Tank. "Do we have another tarp?" She wonders; glancing to where Micha is starting to set up the tarp as shelter a few feet away.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
The indifference surprised Jasmine. Didn't upset her, just surprised her. Almost as much as it surprised and scared her that she was willing to kill. And kill again. She nodded to Rory."
"Thanks," she said quietly, backing away from the burrow. She doubted the little critter would come out while they hovered over the entrance regardless of what bait they used. She hoped her parents weren't watching her discuss murdering. Nomad hadn't had any sort of talks like this. He hadn't killed someone while looking into their eyes and watching the light go out.
"Hope th'critter comes out soon." She also couldn't find it in herself, at that moment, to feel sorry for the careers she'd killed. Or muster up the will to try to feel sorry for Lallek, whom she almost killed. That may change when the stresses of surviving were gone, but for now, the lives of her alliance were the important ones, and sparing out the lives of the competition simply wasn't.
"If'n it comes down tuh it, killin' someone in cold-blood..." she sincerely hoped the cameras were aimed somewhere else, or her family was in the trees. And her mother otherwise occupied, "... let me do it fer yuh."
It wasn't like she enjoyed it, and the request held no joy, just a simple offering to do the dark deeds that a leader may continue to lead without a heavy conscience of actually having snuffed out a quiet life. Jasmine hiked her coat up as much as she could to protect her face from the cold, ducking her head down, and moving a little to keep the blood flowing. She hoped whatever little critter came out soon and they could make their way back to the others.

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
I can't let her kill for me again. Not if I'm can't myself. Rory nodded to Jasmine, though she knew in her heart that she had to be the one who killed someone like Jasmine had killed Emerald. She thought for a moment if she could kill someone unarmed and defenseless. Lallek... yes. Jace... maybe... My district mates and Jasmine... no, never.
"If I can't then help me. But I can't let you do that alone. Not again. So next time we'll do it together." Rory said. She knew it would sound strange to the people in District Seven. Aurora Noland wasn't known for her violent streak. Most thought she was strange yet kind. Or they didn't think about her at all.

Rory & Jasmine As the hunters backed off from the burrow, they conversed quietly for a few moments. A small disturbance in the snow is the first sign of movement. A wet, twitching nose pokes out of the burrow; hesitates for a long moment. The small brown creature darts from its burrow; leaping at the fruit. It's already in its' mouth when the noose tightens; catching the creature around the middle. It lets out a high pitches shriek of surprise.
Tank, Klo, Micha & Pearl As Tank stood guard over the group; he heard a bell - like sound. A parachute was drifting down and this one landed at his feet. As he unraveled the chute; he finds a screw top container holding a bag of fruit - two apples, two bananas and two oranges. At the bottom of the container; there is a medical kit. All very welcome sights in this barren, desolate land..

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine nodded, rubbing her hands together. She had helped with Emerald, taken over entirely really, and was willing to do so again. She'd not leave Rory to kill by herself in that sort of situation again. If she could spare her friend the darkness she felt inside herself now, Jasmine surely would. Rory's sense of compassion was something sacred, especially here in the Arena, and something worth protecting. If it came down to it, despite Rory's words, Jasmine would do it alone.
She almost missed the action as the little critter darted from its burrow; quick as it was and a cold as she was, but her snare didn't suffer from the cold and distraction. Jasmine couldn't help but smile at her handiwork actually working, and it gave her a little hope for the other snares she'd set while out with Rory.
Jasmine moved forward on her long legs, the ache in her injured one forgotten for the moment. She drew Diamond's knife and issued a quick killing blow to the rodent they'd caught, then hoisted it up on the snare wire.
"Ah think we can head back now, ain't gonna be gone empty handed," Jasmine said smiling at Rory. "Yer said I was th'bravest person you've met? Yuh should peek in a mirror sometime."
As far as Jasmine were concerned, it took a lot more bravery to carry a screaming beacon during a death race than it did to snuff out the power source of such a beacon.

Rory Noland: District Seven Female TributeRory chuckled, hopeful for the first time since the games had started. She didn't want to get her hopes high but she wanted to go home. And she wanted her alliance with her. If she died, fine. But if she won, Rory didn't think she'd hate herself for it. Not if she got Jasmine, Tank, and Rowan home too. "We'll have a proper meal. And then we'll find those bracelets." Rory almost believed they could. Almost. The games we unpredictable and it was still too early to call. Then of course there was the kid that took out Klo's eyes they might have to contend with. Rory shuttered and only partly because of the cold. She glanced over to Jasmine and blushed. "I volunteered for a girl I didn't even know. Because I liked a boy I may never see again. I'm not brave. Just... really, really strange. But with you, Tank, and Rowan, I feel like I can do just about anything." As they walked back Rory did one more sweep of the tundra, looking for any plant they could eat or use. Rory Noland rolled 7 dice to "Foraging" 8,2,2,2,5,10,10,4,8 (4 successes) Rory smiled. With this plus the stuff she collecting before... they might be able to have a mini-feast.

As Rory and Jasmine headed back; she knew that the cluster of artic willow that she had collected would do the alliance good. It wasn't particulary tasty; but it was high in vitamin C. It would take only a few moments to strip the bark off and the tender shoots could be eaten raw; or even steeped in a tea since they had the portable stove. [ ] Walking back towards the group; Rory spots a lone tree. She didn't recognize it as native to a tundra as taught to her in the career center; but she recognized the tree as a White willow. This tree produced aspirin; a good medicine that could probably be used by the alliance to control the pain from the wounds that they had suffered.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
"An' then we'll go home," Jasmine said with a genuine smile. When was the last time she smiled for real without any sort of being forced? She watched Rory dig up a few roots, grinning with the find. This would be a good meal indeed for them. Fruit, the rodent, roots, tea... And the odd tree? She didn't know what that could be used for, but given that it seemed out of place.
"As long as we're comparin' Reaping stories," she said after Rory shared hers. "Th'fact yuh volunteered issa mark o' bravery indeedy. I fainted when they called muh name," she hadn't hit the floor when they did. And that seemed like several lifetimes ago now, but, "They called muh name an' next thing I 'member is bein' half carried ontuh the stage."
She walked up to the strange tree. "But, tha' was then. This's now, an' we'll all get home." She felt it to be true, despite there still being something in the realm of two-thirds or half of the tributes out there. Including the one that blinded Klo and dispersed the Career Pack. And Odin and Sorrel. No cannon blasts meant no one'd died since the fight with the careers. Would Odin and Sorrel want to team up with Jasmine now that there could be more than one victor?
A part of her simply hoped they never crossed paths.
"So, wha'do we do wiff this?" She asked, gesturing to the tree. She focused on the present, even if the present was cold, rather than a future that might not come. She had Rory and Tank and Rowan at her back, and she hoped that was all she needed.

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
Rory nodded, smiling at the thought of them making it home. Travel wasn't permitted between the districts but she wondered if they made it out if she'd be able to visit with Jasmine. They had to let them see each other again. And not just to mentor other tributes. Because they'd need each other more than ever if they became victors. If the capitol wanted a happy little victor they'd allow them to see each other.
She was almost gleeful when she found the willow roots. They would be bitter but it'd be a change from water and it would help prevent scurvy which was a bonus.
"That was then and this is now." Rory confirmed with a nod. "Hard to believe that it was just a few weeks ago. Seems like we've been in the games for years."
Rory had a hard time believing that this Jasmine was the same Jasmine from her reaping or even her interview. The district seven tribute didn't feel too different. Yes, she was accepting certain ugly truths about life, death, and the games. But Rory didn't feel any different. She still was a strange girl with way too many feelings to manage most days. It would get worse if she made it out of the arena.
"You're right. It's a different day. You and I... we're stronger than we look. If we win we'll be able to handle whatever happens after that. If we lose... we'll make whoever kills us work for it..." Rory put her findings in the bag and looked up at Jasmine. "It's white willow, I think. It's weird to see one out here. But if I remember correctly, if you eat it and it acts like a pain killer. Here... might help you will the pain in your leg."

"In th'bark or the actual wood er what?" Jasmine had taken Diamond's knife out again and was hacking a couple of the shorter limbs off to carry back with them. She secured them to her backpack using a couple straps. She tested the balance before looking back to Rory. She was glad to have her for a friend. Jasmine hadn't had time to touch the good stuff bad stuff vegetation station. "Or do yuh just chew on th'leaves? My gran once chewed on the leaves of a tree back home, sayin' it made everything more tolerable."
Jasmine listened to Rory's response, following the advice her friend had to give her before making their way back to camp with a veritable bounty. As they cleared the hill, she said: "I'm glad we hadda chance tuh talk some."

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
"It's in the bark." Rory replied. "You crew on the bark and poof no pain. Or at least it dulls it some. But I dunno about the leaves... Wonder which tree your gran's leaves came from."
Rory knew trees. But she had never heard of a tree whose leaves made everything more tolerable. There was a tree whose leaves made people get really jittery, practically bouncing off of the walls with so much energy.
"Me too. Hopefully, it'll be the first of many, Jasmine," Rory was practically chuckling when they reached the others. "We laid some snares, I found some roots we can steep into a tea and some white willow bark. It should help dull any pain we're feeling."
Rory looked around for a moment. "Where's Rowan?"

As the alliance reunites; the group hears a startling, but faint sound drift over from the grey mountains. It has a hair - raising animal tone to it - the yowl of a big cat.
CANNON! CANNON!Within moments; two cannon blasts sound. Lifting your eyes; you see District 8; Elena Femra's friend from her district... District 11; Odin

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine nods to Rory's comment, smiling. She was hopeful for that as well. She took the rodent out and loosened the branches from her pack for the rest of the alliance to see. "We were a bit successful I'd say."
Then the air caught the sound of some sort of cat. Mountain lion, maybe? Not that Jasmine knew what a mountain lion looked or sounded like, having grown up in the orchards of District 11, but... she could imagine it well enough. Or perhaps some big snow cat.
Then the dreaded cannon blasts. She hoped they were for Lallek and Jace, or perhaps the face of Thrall and, if he had one, his partner. Jasmine was immediately disappointed as the Capitol broke with tradition, projecting the fallen tributes' faces into the sky right after announcing their deaths.
Elena, District 8. At least Femra wasn't alone in whatever afterlife there was. That was a small mercy. Then Odin. Odin but no Sorrel. Jasmine stared blankly at the sky for a few seconds after the image disappeared. She'd hoped for this, in a way, and it made her immediately feel deeply guilty. A gut-bomb of sorrow touched the base of her stomach.
"I... uh.. I'll.. uhm... check th'border 'tween here'n'the forest fer her," Jasmine muttered, keeping tears in check for the moment, meaning to look for Rowan back toward the forest. For the moment, just an hour or so after she'd agreed to be Rory's pillar of strength, she didn't want to be seen crying. Without waiting for, or turning to look for, a response, Jasmine unslung her bow and limped off in the direction they'd all fled, letting a muffled sob out when she thought she was far enough not to be heard. Oh Odin...
