Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
She'd follow me into hell, Rory thought when she nodded to Jasmine. No one would ever know how much that bothered her. No one should follow her. She was no leader. Just a girl from District Seven that once naively dared to dreamed big. Now her future had faded away in a thick haze of gore and death. But the one thing that she could believe in was her three alliance mates. Whatever comes, we'll meet it together.
"On the count of three." Rory confirmed. "One. Two. Three."
Rory closed her eyes and pushed the button.

As the young women from districts seven and eleven push the section of the rocks, they feel the sections give under their fingers. It clicks down about 1/4 an inch and this causes two things to happen simultaneously. The first is that a plume of fire erupts above every other rock except for the two that Jasmine and Rory are touching. Had you chosen wrong; you clearly would have been badly hurt; or perhaps even wounded enough to perish. The second thing to happen is that 3/4 of the 'rocks' underneath Rory and Jasmine's hands click 'open'; revealing a small container. Within Rory's container she finds a small bracelet resting on a miniature red velvet pillow. It matches the image for the Victor's bracelet precisely! Jasmine sees a small wooden brown box about six inches in diameter. It has geographic locations etches into it. Closer examination reveals that it is of the Arena- she can see the Frozen Tundra; the Wasteland...the Woods. There are other areas that you had not explored yet. The arena is out of order though on six different planes. A quick touch trial reveals that the six sides rotate around each other, moving the 'continents' of the Arena. Touching the bracelet and puzzle box causes no ill effects or traps to spring. The puzzle box can be manipulated by twisting the sides back and forth to move the continents. The correct movements will line up the arena perfectly- and reveal the location of another bracelet.
The roll is Int + Academics OR Int + Investigation. The rolls are extended- make 5 rolls with a goal of 5 successes. If 5 is not attained; the box 'locks' for that user for a small amount of time. Another user can access it; and it seems to go off bio-metrics in ones' fingerprints to differentiate between tributes.

Rory Noland: District Seven Female TributeAre we dead? Rory asked herself before she opened her eyes. She looked down at herself. She counted her arms, and hands and fingers. She made sure she wasn't on fire and that both of her eyes were still there. When Rory was satisified she finally realized how close they had all been to death. We chose... correctly... For seriously? The flames had gone down and Rory was able to catch her breath. That's when she saw it. The Victor Bracelet. Tears well in her eyes. She glanced between Jasmine and Rowan, this just the glimmer of hope in her eyes. They had found the golden ticket. One step closer to making it home. That being said, Rory hoped for the best but was planning for the worst. Always thinking on her feet Rory unclasped the necklace with her mother's locket and slipped the bracelet onto it and replaces it around her neck before slipping it back under her clothes. They would have to take it from her cold dead fingers. Someone might. she reminded herself. Humility was one of Rory's strong suits. And it wouldn't be until she was at home would she feel somewhat safe. "Jasmine let me see the box." Rory said to her alliance mate. "I think I might be able to figure it out." Rory Noland rolled 6 dice to "Int + Academics" 10,10,10,9,2,5,8,6,7 (5 successes)

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine held her breath, listening to Rory's countdown. One... Two... Three... Jasmine counted in her head with her friend, and depressed the button on the stone. As fire explodes from the other stones, she flinched away, using her free hand to shield her eyes and face, being vaguely aware that the stone under her hand hadn't exploded.
She lowered her hand and let out the breath she'd held. She was intact, and the stone had opened revealing a box. A small smile spread across her face as she reached down and took the box from its nook in the stone. She studied it for a moment, looking up and to the rest of her alliance, seeing Rory tucking the Victor's bracelet away. One down, three to go....
Jasmine straightened up and limped back to the group. "Sure.. I mean, yuh did figure out th'stone and the button an' stuff." She held the box out toward Rory.

As Rory navigated the box; she discovered that it seemed to click right into place for her. She righted the continents and the group noticed a raised arrow in a specific area by the Wasteland...
"Hello, tributes," The voice of the announcer comes down from the heavens. "- we have an announcement to make. Some of you have dire needs for gear to aid your survival. The Feast will be occuring at the Cornucopia tomorrow afternoon. Others will find additional gear to help the odds be in your favor. May the odds be ever in your favor..."

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
Well that was easy... Perhaps too easy. In the two days she had been in the arena, Rory had learned that anything that came easy was only an illusion. She knew something was coming because something was always coming. She just needed to prepare the worst, hope for the best, and throw her expectations out of the window. Just like her mentors said. If Apple knew I actually was following her advice... I'd never live it down... But I'll tell her all about it if I make it out of here.
"Okay, we know where we have to go next. The Wasteland." Rory told everyone. "So we have to options. Option one: we head back, collect Tank and make it for the Wasteland and we'll camp there for the night. Option Two: we camp here, drink as much water as we can, fill every single waterskin we have, and head there in the morning. The Feast aside our number one priority are getting these bracelets"
Rory waited for her alliance to weigh in. She wouldn't make a decision without knowing how everyone felt about her two plans.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine watched Rory fiddle with the box and an arrow appear in the wasteland. She let her mind drift for a moment. Femra and Odin swam before her eyes and a frown graced her pretty lips for a moment before she shivered and was snapped back to the present. Survive to remember them, she thought as she rubbed her arms through the coat and Rory spoke.
Both plans were very viable, though Jasmine was leaning toward the latter. Having never seen snow before the Games, she wasn't exactly eager to continue to experience them. The forest would be her choice, but...
"Ah say we mix th'two... I dunno 'bout you, but I'm ain't 'xactly eager tuh find out how cold this place'll get at night... We drink up an' make fer the wasteland an' camp there tonight..." She said, rubbing her cheeks and arms. Standing still was hardly helping her to stay warm.

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
Smiling, Rory nodded to Jasmine. They had their plan. Now it was time to make due. There was still the matter of leaving Micha and Pearl behind. Rory wouldn't, couldn't put Tank, Rowan, or Jasmine in danger. If Jace and Lallek wanted to keep the two girls safe, they should have taken the two with them. A career and some girl from Jace's district didn't make her feel safe. And so in Rory's eyes it was simple, they had to break off their alliance.
"Okay. Let's go get Tank and head out of here. We've still got a couple of hours of daylight. I want to reach the Wasteland as close to nightfall as we can manage."

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female Jasmine nodded. She liked the plan, and not just because she'd proposed it. There was the matter of abandoning Micha and Pearl, but that could yet be done at night, during the third shift as planned. She still intended to go through with that, expecting it to be a cleaner break than that with Jace and the career he'd sided with. She took a deep breath and limpingly took the lead heading back the way they came with every intent of checking their snares again and keeping an eye out for another burrow they may raid. The young women swing by the snares; happily discovering a fat rabbit in one of them. A smaller lemming was in another; a fine meal for the night. As Jasmine is moving back towards rejoining Tank; she discovers tracks that lead to a burrow. Some more ingenious baiting; and she catches and kills a brown mole like thing. The two head back towards Tank and Klo.
Klo has been rather quiet with Tank over the last few hours; falling into a doze. Tank becomes distracted with guarding the two of them from ambush. Within an hour or so; he realizes that snow flakes have landed on Klo's eyelashes and she hasn't batted them away. The cold has slowly stolen over her; making her lethargic. The hypothermia convinces her that she is warm and she begins shrugging out of her clothing. No amount of convincing from Tank can convince her to don her clothes... and in this chill; she quickly begins to shake and fall on the snow covered ground. She quietly sits with Tank for a few moments; feeling warm and comfortable besides the fact that she is dying. Perhaps they share a few words.
Then the chill takes her and she has a horrible gasp before her body stills in death. Cannon!
The camera centers on a hot, sandy wasteland. It closes in on an aerial view of a male and female tribute who are running. The camera zooms out to reveal a large dinosaur like lizard in pursuit of them; moving quite fast. It comes up behind Odin; swinging its large head in sideways to knock him off balance. Before he can react; it's head snakes in and makes a mean bite below his left knee. Odin bellows in pain as Sorrel heaves him to his feet. The two move slower now; heading up a dune towards people unseen for now. The camera focusses in on Thrall and Kale; good sized packs on thier shoulders.
Odin and Sorrel reach the crest of the dune; the dinosaur in hot pursuit. Thrall and Kale open fire with ranged attacks. Sorrel is attacked and nearly bitten; but Thrall encourages the hesitating Odin to pull her free. The two charge past Thrall and Kale; who convince the beast to go another route. The two district 11 tributes slow by a large, sparse tree. Sorrel helps Odin get his large form into it and follows after him; hoping for a brief resprite before resuming the painful walk. With the ordeals of the day, Sorrel drifts off to sleep.
Sorrel has a terrible sight when she opens her eyes. Odin lays sprawled in the tree, his bloated face staring sightlessly. His leg smells horrendous and she quickly realizes that the bite must have been infected. Odin's death had taken merely an hour, she supposed. She hopes he realized that he was with a friend at the end. After a few moments of panic, she hears a sound. Shuffling through the sand... Using the tree to her advantage, she sees another dinosaur - like creature approaching. Sorrel removes Odin's pack and weapon; hurriedly descending the tree. She takes off at a run as the creature notices the tree...
The camera centers in the Frozen Wasteland, on a well camoflagued hidden shelter made with a tarp and sleeping bag. How had Rachel gotten a sleeping bag since you had last seen her? The girl moves out of her shelter; leveling her binoculars at Tank and Klo. With a frown; she moves away from the two; heading into the woods. The girl moves slowly and with great purpose, snaking through the woods nearly silently. She comes across a makeshift camp - a tent, a blanket, the makings of a fire...
Rachel leaps into action, grabbing the blanket from the tent. She helps herself to half of the wood laid out for the fire; hurriedly packing all in her pack. The brunnette turns to leave when a tackle takes her legs out from under her. Its a two person alliance, she realizes as she scrabbles backwards. The black haired girl is wild and fierce; fighting Rachel with dirty moves such as pulling her hair and clawing at her eyes. The male is scrappy, coming in at Rachel from the side.
The girl manages to scrabble away on her hands and knees, breaking into a run. She hurriedly passes a white bird coming towards the sound of a fight. The bird streaks towards the compound and Rachel hears screams. Rachel smiles as she limps with her newfound gear back to the Frozen Tundra. She surveys Tank and Klo again before settling into her shelter, gingerly tying her leg with a scrap of blanket.
The camera centers on a pair in the forrest. One is roasting a bird over an open fire; the other is roughly washing a nasty cut on his forearm. You see that this is the alliance that Rachel had fled from. The pair hear a crashing noise and look up; sword and bow at the ready. Sorrel comes into sight and freezes at the sight of them. The male is already on his feet towards her; sword in hand. Sorrel back peddles; but it looks like a bad situation.
"I can help with that!" She announces desparately, indicating the wound on the black haired girl. "Wait," The girl announces, standing with some difficulty. "- you better not be lying." "No, I can. You have to be careful out here. My district mate just died from a cut like that..."
The girl made a motion and the boy roughly seized Sorrel by the arm; frogwalking her over to his partner. Sorrel settles in next to the girl; examining the cut.
"Boil the water." She announces, taking the skin that the girl was using. "And get me a clean cloth. Do you have a needle? A first aid kit?"
These two were better equipped than she and Odin had been; and she quickly sanitizes and stitches the wound shut. The girl seems pleased; jerking her head at the male and making some inarticulate grunt. The male rewards Sorrel with a personal size loaf of bread; which she tears in half and consumes one half immediately.
"We could use you for the feast." The girl decides. "We're going to be bashing some people up. You stick with us through the feast; we'll watch you through that night. "
"And I'll be healing you up; keeping you from getting sick and picked off like a wounded animal." Sorrel reminds them. "I get to pick through the gear you take."
The two consider for a moment; nodding with a "Deal."

Rory beamed at their haul. They certainly didn't need any food tomorrow, well at least no lemming meat. Weapons would do us some good, though. The district seven tribute thought that even if she died here, no one could say she didn't play the game well. Relatively speaking. The best players would of course be the victors, whoever they may be. Rory would count herself lucky if she was one of them, fortunate if she was not. Survival in the games took precedent over sanity and morality. If we win we'll deal with the aftermath... Rory glanced at Jasmine and offered her a soft smile. ...together. "Bow with a scope would be handy right about now. For me and Jasmine. Or maybe some more throwing axes for me. Oh... wouldn't it be great if we all got the best armor and weapons money could buy?" Rory asked, giving a hint to her sponsors, and mentors as they walked back. She glanced at Jasmine and winked. Rory held a grin as they came up on the camp. She waved her arms to Tank from a distance with her axe in hand. The axe was the District Seven's district weapon, their sigil. That's when she heard the cannon and Rory broke out into a run. She knew it was Klo. Even before she got there. She knew it was Klo. "Tank..." Rory breathed out. She looked at him and then Klo's body. She knelt down beside Klo's cooling body and brushed the snow off of her face. "Help me with her, Tank... She deserves ---" Her eyes drifted upward to the sky as series of images flashed before them. The first scene was hard. Odin's death. Thrall... The district 12 tribute played on Odin's loyalty to Sorrel and because of this Odin was fatally injured. That and what he had done to Klo put Thrall on the list of people Rory needed to outlive. Not kill. Just outlive. Yes, the nature of the games and all. And yes, someone could say the same of her alliance and right now Rory couldn't fault them for it. The second scene made it hard not to spring into action. Her eyes subtly scanned the terrain around her. Rachel might be watching them right now. Her axe was on the frozen ground But her first sweep didn't really pick up anything. So her eyes shoot back up to the sky. And the third series of images brought her eyes to Jasmine. Sorrel was still alive and with a newly forged alliance. "She's alive and she's safe for now." Rory's eyes swept across the barren landscape again, this time standing. "Rachel is somewhere out here, watching us." She whispered to those around her. Rory Noland rolled 6 dice to "First Attempt" 8,1,1,4,4,3 (1 successes) Rory Noland rolled 6 dice to "Second Attempt" 2,1,10,10,2,8,3,3 (3 successes)

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female Jasmine checked the snares and searched for holes and her efforts didn't go unrewarded and she managed, with Rory's help, to net a very sizeable haul of small animal meat. Her knife slashed, or arrow flashed, or snare...snared and by the time they neared Tank and Klo she carried a half dozen small critters with the prize of a fat rabbit on a sling string over her shoulder. The cannon blast jerked her back to the present. Tank was still moving, Klo wasn't... Freezing couldn't have been fun... if it had been her, Jasmine'd have chosen a quick end. She or Tank could have given it to Klo. But it hadn't been the girl's dying wishes. That was also the end of Jasmine's compassion for the girl. She dropped her hand onto Rory's shoulder. "We've done what we can fer her, Rory. Airship'll come fer her soon." She squeezed her friend's shoulder and backed away from Tank, Rory, and the Career corpse, just as the highlight reel blared into the late afternoon sky. She watched in mute horror as Odin and Sorrel battled with the dinosaur-lizard thing, and stamped down the sorrowful urge to cry again as Sorrel was left alone in the Games. She lets the frown and grief show briefly on her face, which straightens out when she realizes Rachel might very well be quite close. She didn't like the last clip of Sorrel linking up with the archer and swordsknifegirl, but could hardly fault her. A part of her was glad Sorrel wasn't alone... But it also meant she was a part of a different alliance, one that Jasmine's alliance would eventually clash with. Possibly even tomorrow at the Feast. She held her breath, looking around. She felt frustrated, and angry, and sorrowful, and Rachel's thieving ways would be a useful outlet for her at the moment. The fact her mind went there clouded her features for a moment, and scared her for a second longer, before she kept searching the horizon and waiting for Tank and Rory to be ready to move to the Waste to rest in non-chilled comfort. 9,10,7,3,4,4 (2 successes) 3,4,9,6,4 (1 successes)

Tank lifted Klo into his arms, carrying her a small distance away from their camp so that the collectors could do their work. Lying her gently on the snow, he folded her arms across her chest so that she could almost have been sleeping if not for her beyond pale skin.
Wordlessly he rejoined the others again, rubbing at his arms to remove the chill that had started to seep into his bones. The numbness was affecting him physically and emotionally, but at least Klo didn't die alone. He only hoped that he should be so lucky if his time in the Games came.
Not even the sight of the Victor's Bracelet hanging around Rory's neck was enough to raise his spirits. One alone was meaningless. One just made them a target for everyone and everything else in the Games.

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
With a nod, Rory backed away from Klo's body. But not before she took her armor, weapons, and backpack. She felt like she was robbing a corpse. But hopefully in whatever afterlife Klo was enjoying that she understood. The tribute from district one was someone Rory would live for if she was so lucky/unlucky enough to become a victor. She added Klo's things to their haul. With the feast happening tomorrow, Rory knew she would have to prepare they all would.
Rory stripped off her armor and replaced it with Kl's. She handed Jasmine Silver's old armor, Rowan's Diamond's armor, and put her armor in one of the packs they had. She handed Jasmine the throwing knives. And took Silver's sword, she strapped the sheath on her back and placed the sword in it. She practiced pulling out a few times. Then she put a knife on her belt. Rory looked like she was ready for war.
"Come on, let's dismantle the camp and head to the wastes. It's getting dark and we have to go."

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine accepted, mutely, the armor and throwing knives, donning each while keeping a lookout for the traitorous Rachel. She took a couple practice throws with the knives, and adjusted her technique from throwing apples. Not terribly difficult as the knives were really well balanced. Once everyone was packed up, dressed a fresh, and camp broken down, she took it upon herself to lead the way toward the waste. Limping along.
She silently considered other options for breaking up their alliance. Micha and Pearl might have a use against Jace and Lallek, and was at least worth considering and discussing with the others. It also meant they would be taking a step away from the strictly moral stance Rory'd taken. Jasmine would make that hard call if she needed. She might still have pull with Sorrel, at least to the point of not attacking or being attacked by her, and with Micha and Pearl, they might be able to sway something similar against the other pair.
Of course that might well backfire on them. But still worth a discussion before the feast. When did I become so... dark, using people, the thought passed idly through her mind.

The preparations for the night came as the group moved into the warmer Wasteland. Jasmine thought she spotted a lone figure following them on the trek; but it didn't pass the snow covered land of the tundra. The alliance found the Wasteland warm and gladly stripped off their winter things; packing them close with the knowledge that they will need them for the Cornucopia tomorrow. Rowan immediately suggests that someone try and get some sleep early. No doubt tomorrow was going to be taxing; and she could keep first watch. It also was a time for Rory and Jasmine to wonder if they should bring the others in on the concerns about Pearl and Micha.
