Jace Colton
Diamond was gone.
So was everyone else, so far as he could figure, and Jace knew that unless he got free he'd be a sitting duck. Which meant he needed to get free and right now.
When the headbutt didn't work, he regrouped. Kal was good at that, but then again Kal was a full foot taller than Jace, and frankly it was hard to headbutt someone that tall. There was also the fact he'd always had Jan at his back, so he wasn't usually grappled for very long.
This was ridiculous, and if he didn't get free, his ghost was never going to live getting his butt kicked by a twelve-year-old half-dead girl down.
Even if said 'half-dead' girl was a Career.
So he did what he did when Jan wasn't around and he and Kal were roughhousing....
...He stepped on her instep.
That seemed to be a mite more effective, and she grimaced enough for him to get free of her.
Now it was time to finish this.

Klo hears silence. Eerie silence. Klo noiselessly crawls from her hidey hole and brushes the dirt of her pants. She stands up and flings her cattle prod in a full circle, must does not hear a thing. Her teeth chatter as the descending sun lays a blanket ofmcoldmupon her. Klo shivers and goosebumps rise on her arms. Weeks she would tell herself to be strong. But there is nothing left of the old Klo. This new Klo was small, scared and blind. Klo took shaky steps until her ears discovered words. Klo held her cuddle prod up and it soon discovered movement which led to beeping. Klo stopped just at the edge of the lake when she felt water seeping into her boots. She backed away a couple of steps but she knew all eyes were on her. Bumbling Klo was getting out of the bushes. She didn't know if the weapons were trained on her but she lifted her hands. "I come in piece." Klo declares hoarsely. "I know you may have questions and I have answers. All I ask is that you do not kill me immediately after." Klo murmurs.

Left alone; Emily's emotions at being left behind seem to funnel into her opponent; Jace. The slim girl reacts as Jace kicks her instep by stepping back from him. She still stares at him; not fleeing. The girl raises a glinting knife; staring up at Jace. The shadows are heavy across her; making the bloodstains on her clothing appear black. "Just you and me, Nine." She states quietly. Theres a reserved nature in her tone as she contemplates you. Her eyes go to your hand; your threshing hand. The grip tightens on the knife handle as she focusses for the blow... Then Klo bumbles out of the Forrest; blind and declaring peace. "Klo," The Career states quietly; her eyes trained on Jace; searching for his weakness. "-they've killed almost every one. Diamond and Emerald are out there somewhere."Only Emily, Jace and Lallek see and hear Klo. In the woods; the young district seven girl overtakes Diamond. Diamond sets Emerald upon the ground and the girl shifts slightly. You note that her eyes are open; and she still clutches a blade. She peers up at Rory with distrust. "Little Seven," Diamond smiles, flashing her knife. She has been hobbled; but she doesn't pull the arrow from her knee. "You're not the only ones with archers. "She tries to strike out at Rory; but her unsteady stance causes her to miss Rory. Emily is aiming this round
Diamond rolled 5 dice to "attacking Rory (knife)" 1,5,5,7,3 (0 successes)

Rory Noland: District Seven Female TributeRory glances at Emerald. Still alive. Her gaze finds Diamond’s once the career starts to speak. Though fear has a vice like grip on her heart, Rory finds her voice and it’s surprisingly steady. “My name is Aurora Noland.” Rory manages before Diamond’s knife comes her way and she’s forced to side-step the incoming blow. The district one tribute’s words terrify her but Rory doesn’t dare look for any other archers. Rory is playing the odds. If she dies, she dies. There is no time to be scared about that now. Especially with death standing two feet away from you, holding a big knife. Rory Noland rolled 9 dice to "Attacking Diamond + Will" 9,6,4,2,5,5,5,2,7 (1 successes) As she steps to the side, Rory brings down her axe, slicing Diamond on her upper right arm. Rory hopes her people get to her soon. Because she won’t be able to hold off Diamond forever.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 FemaleJasmine wasted no time drawing another arrow to cheek as Diamond and Rory squared off. She could see Emerald move slightly as Diamond set her down. Of course she was still alive. No cannon blast meant no death. And tonight there'd be only two more cannon blasts if Jasmine had anything to do about it, and neither were going to signal Rory's death. At the district 7's declaration, Jasmine loosed her arrow. 8,2,6,6,2,10,7,10,8,10,3 (5 successes) "And I'm Jasmine Coverfield, sayin' Rory don't stand alone in th'growin' darkness," Jasmine shouted from her branch as her arrow sank home.

Jace Colton "Jace. Colton." District 9 might be his home, but it wasn't who he was completely. And then the Career that had sunk a knife into his table shows up blind... ...He didn't have the luxury of paying her any mind right now. He's bleeding and hurt, and he needed to finish this with Emily. He needed to finish it right now, which is why he slashed out deliberately at Emily, attempting and somewhat succeeding at slashing her throat open. The point of the Scythe had already pierced her chest. The slice to her throat he hoped would end it. 2012-06-13 09:28:35 Jace Colton rolled 8 dice to "Weaponry + Strength + Specialty + Scythe + Willpower (Last) - Defense - Called Shot (Slash to the Neck)" 5,1,8,7,10,1,1,7,5 (2 successes)

For a moment Lallek wasn't sure what was sadder, Klo's attempt at spilling her guts or Emily's poor notion that there would be some chivalrous duel with Jace. It was Emily he decided. After all, who came into the Games thinking they would be honorable?
Knifing a child certainly wasn't chivalrous. Having children fight to the death wasn't honorable. What Lallek was about to do to Emily was just as bad. For a moment he almost halts his throw, but if it wasn't him and Jace, it would be someone else. Once again his heart hardens to the Games and the moment of compassion. At least this way their would be no malice in the killing. Lallek draws a knife and frowns. Game over Sweet Emily.
2012-06-13 17:45:23 Lallek Aldren rolled 7 dice to "Dex+Athletics+Spec+Knife-Defense" 4,10,9,2,9,10,9,6,2 (5 successes)
The throw hurt, BADLY, but Lallek just clenches his teeth and finishes the attack. Jace needed his help and he needed Jace. It was worth the pain. Now all he had to do, was hope that he wouldn't tear any of the bandages. That and not get killed by Emily of course.

Klo hears Emily's words. "Y-y-your the only one I've got..." Klo whispers. "P-p-please don't do this!" Klo chokes. She hears a whiz of a weapon. "Emily?" Klo wonders but she knows it was her. "Oh god!" Klo begins to sob but turns around and calms herself. She turns back to whoever killed Emily. "I forgive you for killing her... And I know all I've done these past weeks... And I understand if you decline." Klo mumbles wiping tears from her eyes and bites her lip. "But I ask that you spare me long enough to answer everything. I know things..." she whispers turning her head to the left. She turns back. "I am so sorry!" she chokes. "I know I should be mad and trying to kill you guys but... I never even wanted to go here! I told Silver we should've stayed but he didn't listen! I knew we would die. That's why I made no attempts at killing anyone. I tried to leave. But I couldnt. I need help! I don't expect you too... But please help me! I cold tell you everything I know and don't worry about me killing anyone, I'm blind." Klo whispers and looks down. "I am so sorry." she whispers and lifts her head waiting for their answer.

In the Forrest; those pursuing Diamond and Emerald were treated to the sight of Diamond receiving an arrow in her throat. The girl coughed once; blood coloring her lips. The blonde fell unceremoniously to the floor. There were no final words; no brave speeches. Only the harsh, sputtering final gasps of a dying girl. Emerald wiggled forward and touched her companion's shoulder. Diamond turned her head towards the redhead and made to speak; but her body sagged. Canon!Canon! Canon! Her head lolled unnaturally to the side in death. Emerald winced in pain as she adjusted Diamond into a more natural position.
Exhausted; the redhead lay back upon the floor beside Diamond.
"She already killed me." Emerald stated quietly. "That archer. Diamond might have hoped for medicine; but I don't."
You realize that her knife had fallen onto the ground, unheeded. Emily appeared unaware of it. Already her eyelids are drooping...
Canon!
As Jace's knife darts forward; the first thing he becomes aware of is red. Bright red gushes forward; drenching the front of her shirt and flecking Jace's. Those bright colored eyes meet his for an instant before they become too glassy; too empty. The girl pitches forward without a word. She hits the ground quietly and without a sound; slowly deflating into the Forrest floor.
Canon!
As Lallek reaches the fight; he tries to participate in it; but finds himself too late. The two now have a moment to glance around in the dark clearing by the Lake; finding that Klo stands beside the Lake by herself.
In the descending silence from the declarations and excercises of battle; you become aware of a quick, sharp cry of pain from beside the fire. Wern't all of the careers accounted for?
Approaching the fire ring; you note that Micha lays upon the ground. She appears to have been knocked unconscious; with a growing bump forming on her right temple. Her hand is outstretched in front of her; a few wisps of brown hair cling to fingernails. Micha is breathing normally and appears no worse for where - a sudden movement behind the fire ring catches your eye.
"Rachel; get back here!" Pearl shouts, running out towards you. She clutches one of the dead crows in her left hand. Judging from the leaves in her hair and dirt on her clothing; she had been tousseling with someone. Red - faced and out of breathe; Pearl pauses beside Micha. She frowns and squats beside the girl. "Rachel -" She gasped. "- tried to steal the crows and Micha's bag."

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
The cannons are deafening as always.
Cannons herald death. She imagined herself, lying on the forest floor in Diamond's place. She could be sleeping if it isn't for the blood that stained her lips and the arrow through her throat. Rory thinks of Cade and the way her axe cut through him like butter. The Capitol has turned us into murderers...
Rory kneels besides, Diamond and closes her eyes before she wipes the blood off of Diamond's lips with the sleeve of her jacket. She takes her knife and folds her arms over her chest.
"I'm sorry," Rory tells the fallen tribute. Her voice sounds hollow, distant, not her own. Tears well in her eyes, glistening in the moonlight. Her hands are becoming sticky with Cade's blood. Or hers. Who knows anymore. Rory kneels there for a moment before looking at Emerald.
“I could stay with you until you pass...” Rory offers. “You'll have to give me the knife first... Unless...” Rory's lips tremble. “... I could make the pain go away...”
The raw emotion coming from Rory is hard for even herself to hear. But regardless of how strange her words may be to Emerald, the sincerity in her words is hard to ignore.

Cannon! Cannon! Cannon! Cannon! Cannon!
Emerald, Diamond, Silver, Cade, Emily.
That just left Klo, poor bumbling Klo. It wasn't her fault. He was sure that the psychopath from the lunch room would have put up quite a fight normally. Something had robbed the girl of her eyes though. Both of them. And Cade just fell down one of his pits as if he were lost out here. Someone had hurt them, before they had arrived here. That was more than a little troubling.
Still there was no point in making the girl suffer. Lallek found his pack and pulled out his notebook. His message was short and simple. "No more suffering." As he rips the note out, he offers it to Jace and then nods to Klo. It was shameful to force the responsibility on his ally, but Lallek's knives would just be a prolonged death for Klo. This way there would be no suffering. No more fear. Even if the Capitol would rob them all of peace for the remainder of their short lives, Klo and the other dead would be at peace. It was more than anyone else in the camp would get.
As he waits for Jace's decision Lallek watches Klo. He envied her, but he couldn't let go yet. The Games couldn't take him yet.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 FemaleJasmine watched, with a sinking satisfaction that scared her more than the battle itself, as Diamond gurgled and died. Silver'd died what seemed like miles away and years ago. Diamond died close, and she felt herself harden at the sight. She could kill, would kill, and it scared her. She slung her bow and climbed down from her perch. 9,2,8,3,6,9,4,3,7 (3 successes) She watched Rory closing Diamond's eyes and taking her knife, speaking quietly to Emerald. Emerald was right, more than right, Jasmine's arrow'd killed her. It was just going to be slow without some help. How Nomad'd died slowly. In pain, and putting his family, Jasmine, in pain watching it. She walked slowly up behind Rory and crouched beside her and the dying tribute. "You don't need tuh do anything more, Rory," Jasmine said quietly as she reached down and took Diamond's knife from her. Standing beside her friend meant taking some of the darkness into herself. Jasmine'd need to get her hands dirty, literally, sooner or later. "I'm sorry tuh have not made it faster'n'this, Emerald... Ain't nobody deserve tuh suffer. Hold 'er hand Rory..." Jasmine took a breath. Killing someone up close and outside of the heat of battle was different from striking home with arrows from the treetops. But this had to be done. Who knew how long Emerald'd suffer, how long her family'd suffer watching her on the screen, without this mercy blow. She unzipped the career's jacked and balanced the knife over where she estimated her heart to be. "Good bye," she murmured and pressed down hard, driving the knife in and ending the girl's life. Enemy's life, but the thought lacked a certain conviction. As she slowly pulled the knife from Emerald, watching blood seep out of the wound and the life go from her eyes. She looked to Rory. "We need tuh check them for supplies an' get back to the others..."

As his distant target fell prone to the repeated sound of cannon fire Tank skidded to a halt, his reason for joining Rory no longer valid. As he turned back towards the clearing, he overheard Klo talking, and witnessed Lallek passing a note to Jace. Though he had no way of knowing what the note said, the nod in Klo's direction afterwards gave Tank a strong suspicion what it was regarding.
"You're not killing her."

As Jasmine climbed down from her high perch; Emerald's eyes barely tracked Rory. The girl's light colored eyes did not move towards the knife that lay beside her hand. Her breathing was becoming more shallow by the moment; her frail chest barely rising now. The career did not protest as Jasmine spoke to Rory; nor when Jasmine plucked up the final knife. When her hand was touched there was one final bit of instinct that made her hand squeeze...
Then in one final act of violence; she was gone. The cannon blast signaled her death as her body slumped to the side; red spilling onto the earth. Rowan glanced between Pearl and Micha and Rory and Jasmine. She decides to cross to the fire; checking the boiling water. She fills her own skin; then gestures for Pearl and Tank's. Wordlessly; she gestured for the others' skins.

Jace Colton
There's a long look at the note, and he got it. He really did. Heck...he agreed with it, because the crazy-chick had already told them all that she was going to kill them in the cafeteria, but now that her support network was gone--now that the Careers were dead, she was begging for her life.
"It'd be kinder, Tank. She'll die of starvation. Exhaustion. Thirst. No one wants to see their kid go out that way. No one wants to see anyone go out that way. Alone and from exposure...
A look to Lallek. "Unless of course you all are planning on carrying her around like the useless parasite she'll become. Taking care of her. Letting her drink your water and eat your food and feeding her like an ailing pet.
"And I say 'you all' because for me? You all keeping her alive and letting her stay with you is a deal-breaker. I made a promise to try and win, and I'm not going to die here because a the lot of you want to take care of a crazy, blind career who 'suddenly' had a change of heart. Suddenly...because we killed all of her friends. Suddenly, because you haven't put a knife in her hands yet.
"You all want to die because she's bumbling around the woods making noise and getting you all heard?
"More power to you, but someone has to be the practical voice here."
He hands the note over to Lallek. "That said: Someone needs to go after Rachel. Now. And I can't. I need to patch myself up. If you hadn't noticed, I had a few knives go through my body."
He was pretty bad off, and in no shape to really kill anyone else tonight. The blind girl could wait. IT wasn't as if she were successful in going anywhere, and he was thirsty. A little hungry.
And as he looked down at Emily's body, he felt himself shiver. He'd done that. He'd killed that little girl....
...Though the shivering might be blood loss. Or that it was a little chilly here. He said nothing for the fire.
Just want to go home...
He didn't know what time it was there. Maybe they'd be sitting down for dinner. Maybe they'd be roughhousing and laughing. Maybe they'd be tucked warm in bed and dreaming, but it didn't matter. He just wanted to go home
But he knew, deep down, the truth of it all. That he--that none of them--could ever really go home again. He'd never be able to use a scythe to thresh without thinking of all the people he'd killed with it. The scars would all remind him. The Victory Tour and being a Mentor meant he'd have to relive it all over again.
Watching himself on the screen, year after year, killing that little girl--even just that one little girl--would change him.
He would never really be able to go home again. None of them would. The games had made that impossible.
"It would be kinder...."
Because at least she'd die the girl her family and friends remembered her to be, and not come home the monster he knew he'd already become.

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
Rory tenses.
Someone's reaching for my knife.
It takes a moment for her to realize it's only Jasmine. Rory nods, slowly but her gaze seems to go pass through Jasmine. She blinks twice before her eyes adjust, finally truly seeing her alliance mate.
Am I a coward for not fighting her on this? Rory asks herself, trying to put on a brave face. Taking Emerald's hand into hers, Rory notes how cold she already is. It won't be long.
"We'll stay with you until the end...Don't look... Look at me..." Rory says to Emerald. She's not a singer but she hums the tune to a lullaby her father used to sing to her when she just a child. It had always helped her sleep. Maybe it would do the same for Emerald.
Her hands tense as Jasmine's plunges the knife in. And then Emerald is gone, Rory knows it the second she goes limp. When Jasmine looks at her, Rory's trembling but not from the cold. She blinks pass the tears, sending them down her checks. Rory's sobbing as quietly as she can.
She nods again when Jasmine says they have to search the bodies. And Rory does just that, taking everything they had of value. She apologizes to Emerald and Diamond’s lifeless bodies. She feels like she’s defiling them.
The walk back to camp is a short one but Rory’s legs could hardly be made to move. Hurt, stiff… that doesn’t even begin to cover it. But Rory still has enough of herself left to take in everything that is going on in camp and she hands her empty water skin to Rowan.
“Deal breaker?” she makes it sound like a question as she approaches them. She is still shaking, tiny tremors rolling through her body, betraying her, just like her tear-stained face betrays her.
“You and your alliance mate threw us into this fight, Jace. We stayed to help you. We stayed so you didn’t have to die like the careers did. We could have left you both here and fought them when we were ready… after they killed you two.” She wants to make sure that Lallek and Jace know that. They may have used them as pawns. But no more.
Rory glances at Cade, Silver, and Emily’s bodies in turn. “No. You and Lallek don’t dictate what we do anymore. So don’t you dare speak to us about deal breakers. You and Lallek want to leave. Leave. Go. Go and look for Rachel yourselves. But we’re not killing, Klo. And we’re done fighting your battles… Or at least I am.”
The tears were coming more steadily now. Rory doesn’t care at this point. She’s going to cry – needs to cry. She has murdered and helped murder five people. Klo isn’t going to be the sixth one tonight. Her gaze falls on Cade’s headless corpse. This is her handiwork. This is what she did. Her stomach churns and she heaves, shuttering again.
Rory raises her bloody axe pointing at the headless career. “You would call that a peaceful death? Do you think his parents are watching right now thanking God that at least their son didn’t die of exposure? And you think I’m naïve.”
Rory looks over to Klo. Yes, if it was her, Rory is almost 70% sure she’d want someone to end it for her. Blind in the games… She’d just be a dead weight around someone’s neck. Rory doesn’t want to bring Klo with them. But she does not want to hack a defenseless blind girl to save her from a non-violent, non-bloody death. “Jace… I know you want to go home and see your family again. I want that for you too. You don’t have to believe it. I know it’s true. I want you to see your family again. But I can’t let you do this. I’m sorry… I just… I just can’t. I won’t. Killing Klo in cold blood won't be a kindness. Just like killing Cade wasn't doing him a favor... All it did was turn me into a murderer.”

Klo heard silence and the shuffling of a paper. What was happening? "Your not killing her." thunders Tank. My eyes widen. "N-n-no! Please don't!" Klo exclaims hoarsely. "I'd rather die a natural death of starvation or drowning in the arena then have you kill me! Or anyone for that matter! I will tell you anything! But all I ask is that you take me to the frozen tundra to die off..." She pleads. "As my dying wish..." Klo mumbles.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine stared at Emerald's corpse for a moment longer, then tucked Diamond's knife away before patting Rory's shoulder. She didn't feel... bad, she wanted to feel bad. She wanted to cry, and have as hard a time as Rory seemed to be having with this. But it wouldn't come... perhaps that's what she'd felt die when she loosed her arrow into Diamond's throat. The shot'd spared Rory of killing her or being injured by her, but it'd also ended an innocence in Jasmine.
She took her own advice, sifting through the two fallen careers' packs and pockets, taking what was useful be it arrows, throwing knives, food, water, or medical supplies. She filled her own pack and carried Emerald's if hers filled.
She tells herself that they need the items and the dead tributes have no use of them... and she doesn't quite find herself feeling sullied by the act. When she's done, she walks with Rory back to the lake shore, hearing the thundering Tank shout about not killing someone else that spurs her to a quicker pace, fingers touching the fletching of her arrows as she unslings her bow. If another fight was breaking out, despite the fatigue that was creeping up on her, she was going to make sure her alliance, District 7 and herself, were on the winning end.
The fact she was ready to murder again almost scared her. Almost.
She looked on the scene at the lake. Big Tank and heard the tail end of Jace's comments. She frowned. She didn't want to shoot Jace, not now. She'd fought to help him survive this. Her eyes swept the scene again. Dead career bodies strewn about, Rowan by the fire, Klo by the lake.
She draws a breath, watching Rory make a speech. Listening... She's a leader, Jasmine realized. The leader they need, compassionate even in this dark arena. And she was strong, but... cracking.
Jasmine'd murdered more than Rory, spared Rory from tainting herself with finishing off Emerald, and yet Jasmine was ready to do it again. She'd hardened to the point of where she was ready to draw and nock arrow and send it down range.
She looked at Klo as she spoke, uttering a dying wish. While Jasmine had hated the District 1 Career before, now she looked like a beaten, scared little girl. Jasmine crossed the distance to her. She stayed just outside of swinging distance.
"I got two questions an' then I'll decide whether tuh honor yer last wish," Jasmine said. Her voice was a little colder than she had intended. "I know I wouldn't wanna be out 'ere alone an' blind. But tha's me, an' b'fore I thoughtcha were just a cocky hazmot.... But you're nothin' more'n'a scared li'l girl. Answer me this: Did yuh kill Femra?" if that answer was positive, Jasmine had very little intention of escorting Klo anywhere. She'd make it as quick as she could, but the District 1 would die here at the lake. "Second question: Who took yer eyes?"
She looked to Rowan for a moment, digging out any spare waterskins she'd picked up from the felled careers and carried them to the District 7 tribute. Hers was still mostly filled. She looked back to Klo, waiting for an answer. She slung her bow, and murmured quietly to Rory: "We need to get you cleaned up..."

Jasmine found five water skins, five sets of warm, white thermal underwear, five jackets, five flint fire starters and five pairs of snow boots. As far as weapons; Silver had the finest sword in the Games and a fine armored chest plate. Emily held three fine knives; comparable to Lallek and Pearl's. Emily's pack also had one first aid kit, from which some of antibiotics and sutures were missing. The girl also had a small pack of hot cocoa powder, two tins of jerky (one only had one piece left) and a bag with six bread rolls.
Emerald's pack held another throwing knife set of three knives (finely wrought, +2), a fetch of 20 arrows and a hunting knife. Cade's pack held only the aforementioned underwear. He also had some odd cattle prod device. Diamond's pack held snare wire, wire cutters, work gloves and a poncho. Diamond also wore studded leather armor.
"Kinder?" Rowan glanced towards Klo and Tank; but remains at the water pot. She straightened once she had filled the canteens of herself, Micha and Pearl. She accepts canteens from Jasmine and fills them; then carries one of them to the big district 7 tribute. She bet Tank was thirsty; as she still had his iodine tablet. Had he taken on any water?
"Drink, Tank." She pressures, returning the other two to Jasmine. The pot is still half full and she leaves it beside the fire. She takes a good swallow; wincing. "Mmm, warm water."
Rowan checks out Klo; her eyes widening. "Something out there is really bad a**." The brunnette moves to stand beside Tank; watching Klo and Rory with a bit of fascination. She didn't seem to have fondness for the career; but stood beside her district.
Micha rouses after Pearl gently shakes her arm.
"What?" She mumbles sleepily; sitting up on the forrest floor. "You want to kill her?" Pearl walks towards Jace and Lallek; trying to peek at the note that Lallek had shown Jace. Those light eyes glance between Jace and Lallek; but settle on Lallek. He was her tessarae - giver. He was her district mate that hadn't punched her in her eye - and now that a few moments have passed; you see a blue - purple bruise raising over her left eye. The blonde frowns at mention of Rachel.
"B**** took one of our crows." Pearl held the other; glancing down to it.

The second Rory begins her speech, Lallek begins to scrawl out another note for Jace. He writes rapidly and the letters are a bit skewed, but his partner should be able to decipher it without much trouble. "We need to leave here with more people. At least one, maybe two. Don't press the Klo issue."
Then beneath that is an even bulkier section. "Please be my voice."
"Thank you Tank for the treatment. Rory, we will leave first thing in the morning. Jace and I have two simple requests. First that you allow us our fair share of the loot here. Jace and I have bled for those supplies as much as anyone. An equal portion of it belongs to us. Secondly, Jace and I both have treated you with as much respect as possible. The same courtesy would be appreciated. You distrust him and likely hate me. That is fair, but none of what Jace and I do is out of malice or spite. Personally, I bear you no ill will and I would like to see this alliance split as smoothly as possible. As a gesture of good faith, I'd like to take first watch with you. I'll be unarmed if that helps put your mind at ease. Despite your fear of me I trust you and the others here."
It took him a minute to write and once again, Lallek was reminded about how wonderful it would be to have a voice. Instead, he hurriedly passes the note to Jace.
The moment Pearl begins to speak Lallek feels the involuntary action. His eyes flash to meet Pearl's for the first time, as if gravity is pulling them. He gazes at her for a fraction of a second before control sets back in, and his eyes snap to Rory and the others. Lallek feels the sudden urge to cry. People were dead because of him. People were dead because he had brought them in. Grief starts to well up and threatens to snap him. Then the predator snaps back and the sensation passes. A passive look settles onto his face and he waits for the reaction of the others.

Klo listens to Jasmine's questions. She nods once she finished. She clears her throat with a cough and begins: "I did not kill her. It was when I could still see. We were on the battle field... And.. And.... She just died. Her mine exploded and she just exploded to bits." Klo remains emotionless relaying the event. It was a sad scene and it was more graphic in her mind then she reminded. She died with Luci..." Klo shakes her head. Klo then straightens up. "As for the boy who stole my sight... It was Thrall." Klo chewed her lip as tears welled in her eyes. "He just knocked arrows in my eyes and it was done. He stole my sight! And I will never get it back. I made a cut and he fired back with the arrow." Klo mumbled in between gasps and sobs. "He robbed Cade of his sight too!" Klo gasps with rage. "And of all the nerve for Kale to gang up with him! We were gonna ally! That cursed b****!" Klo screams and sighs. "I don't know if you want to know anything else." Klo whispers. "But thats all I know. Thrall is armed and Dangerous. If your gonna be hunting him, be prepared to lose an eye or two." She huffs. "And I know I'm going to die but could you kill him for me?" Klo whispers.

Jace Colton
He was done with these people.
The Career Districts--1 and 2--didn't think like they did. They didn't value their children--their families--like District 9 did. The way he'd seen the other Districts at their Reapings mourn their children. It was an 'honor' in District 1 and 2. An honor to die. To fight. To come home to accolades. They watched past games as momentous occasions and not the damaging events they really were.
Bred little sociopaths and psychopaths and dehumanized the other Tributes so that their deaths didn't touch them.
Jace knew his parents loved him. Knew that him being Reaped had broken their hearts. Knew that they were just waiting for him to die on that screen. He could imagine them sitting there watching right now. Watching and waiting....
And he starts to speak, but there's a note pressed into his hands and he reads. Says nothing as he does so, and looks to Lallek. Nods.
"Lallek says: "Thank you Tank for the treatment.
Jace folds the note. Tucks it into his backpack. It would be better to keep them. Just in case....
..He didn't want to think about the 'just in case'.
"We don't know how many will get to go home. This is a huge alliance." And he knew what the Gamemakers would do. They'd pick a small number. Three. Four. And then watched the carnage and he wouldn't be here for that. They'd watch the game play out. Watch friend backstab friend. Watch all these well-meaning people become the monsters they wanted them to become.
They would be right to leave in the morning. To take their fair share and go, but he wouldn't be sleeping when Lallek slept, and Lallek wouldn't be sleeping when he slept, and that was just the way it was going to be.
And he wasn't planning on 'hunting' anyone. He was planning on making sure he and Lallek and whoever else they managed to convince would just outsurvive everyone else. Anyone came at them would kill or be killed, but hunting?
Jace was a survivalist, but he wasn't a hunter.
Not by a long shot.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine watched the exchange between Lallek and Jace, being distracted for a moment by Klo's request and accepting the waterskins back from Rowan. She took a swig from her waterskin, the one purified by an iodine tablet before the battle. No reason to swig warm water. She stowed the spare skins in her pack before dashing some water on her jacket sleeve and setting to carefully wiping blood from Rory's hand. Couldn't have their leader constantly blood-spattered.
She spoke to Klo without looking at her as Jace read Lallek's note.
"No. I ain't gonna kill him for you," she answered honestly. Her charity toward the remaining career ended with not killing her now on the spot. "If'n he dies by onna my arrows, or knife, or sword, or blunt rock, it wo't be fer you. It won't be for me, or the crowds, or... anyone. I don't dedicate deaths to nobody. Not even yers. If anything... I'd kill someone for themselves, end 'em quick. Ain't no reason reason for someone to suffer, which you're like to do out in the frozen waste you're requestin' to be escorted to."
She wasn't even settled on that escorting Klo to the waste was the best idea. Not killing her was bad enough, and it even pained what little compassion Jasmine had left for the living and not just her friends to see her wander around blind and hurt and alone. It would be better to finish it quick. For now, however, she contented herself to wipe and clean Rory's hands as Jace spoke Lallek's message.
She drew a breath. They'd bled, everyone'd bled except her maybe. She'd been, by luck or skill, out of the line of fire for the fight. But she'd also caused the most bloodshed, taken the most lives. Silver, Diamond, and Emerald all lay strewn out because of her arrows or steady knifehand. But, they had a point, they did deserve a portion of the loot.
"We dunno how many're counted in th'alliance, an' I'd be willin' tuh bet that we're the largest group out here. I say we divvy things up even-like an' make a meal of the remainin' crow'n'bread. For now, we're on the same team." She paused for a moment. She couldn't bring herself to say she'd miss Lallek or Jace. She didn't feel close or attached to either. She settled on: "I ask fer the arrows'n'Silver's sword'n'sheath fer myself. An' I'll offer tuh take second watch with whoever's willin' tuh sit with me inna tree."
Silently, she hoped it'd be Tank... or better yet, Rory. She didn't trust Lallek, even if he offered to be unarmed. She worried for her friend's safety. She wanted to see both District 7 and 11 home safely... the thought brought a passing wonder to how Odin and Sorrel were faring, and the hope that it was well. On that thought, Jasmine added a touch more water to her jacket sleeve and continued her clean-up of Rory.

Rory Noland: District 7 Female Tribute
Jasmine’s voice barely registers for Rory. It isn’t until her alliance mate is cleaning the blood from her hands that she even realizes Jasmine is speaking to her. She hisses in pain; the cut on her left hand is healing but still fresh. And that brings Rory back. She still feels pain. She’s still alive.
Upon hearing about Femra’s death, Rory’s eyes water once more. Somewhere in the back of her mind she tries to justify it. Telling herself that it was a good, quick, painless death. But Rory pushes those thoughts away. No death in the Hunger Games was good. Not a single one. Rory had dreams of dying at the age of 100 surrounded by an army of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But she isn’t getting that happily ever-after. Rory knows that in her heart.
One person did this the careers? Rory thinks, her mind trying to work out a plan. She’ll need sleep, first. Thrall and Kale could wait until tomorrow. Or never. Either one would be perfectly fine. Though the latter sounded the most appealing.
“We’ll point you toward the frozen tundra in the morning, Klo. For now, you’ll sleep. We’ll have to tie you up but only as a precaution. You have my word; you won’t die by anyone here.” Rory tells the district one tribute. There isn’t a challenge or a threat in her voice. More like a promise. Like I promise there will be a problem between us if you try to turn me into a lair. It isn’t directed at anyone, and Rory herself is unaware of it. But it’s there, her protective instincts kicking in.
Rory turns to Jace when he speaks for Lallek. Her expression is neutral. “Let me be clear. I don’t hate either of you. I don’t trust you Lallek. And by extension, I don’t trust Jace. How can you trust someone who’s so willing to leave you to die? Throw you into a battle where the odds of you surviving are low without any regard to your safety? Or lie on camera about a bond that was never there just to juice a few extra credits from sponsors? Your injuries could have been avoided if you had given us time to plan. But you didn’t. You should be grateful. That's the very least you can do for what we did for you. Not asking that I respect you. You want respect, earn it. Show me something worth respecting.” That’s the coldest thing Rory has said since the start of the games. But it is a simple truth. “You are entitled to a portion of the loot. We’ll give you 1/5 of what we recovered here. And we’ll pack your backpacks ourselves. But since we did the bulk of the work, we get the bulk of the loot here. And your offer to share first watch unarmed is acceptable.”
The last bit of Lallek’s note doesn’t sit right with Rory. She doesn’t trust him. And gestures of good faith from Lallek seemed like a double edge sword. He’s up to something. And Jace is right. The Gamemakers want us to destroy each other so hey, let’s split up now and plan to slaughter each other later. Sounds great. The Capitol will love it. God Jace, how stupid can you be? You're playing right into their hands.
Rory turns back to study Lallek. Looking for anything that will show his hand. Rory’s a chest stabber. You’ll always see her coming. But Lallek… No, she doesn’t trust him. How could she?
“Micha? How’s your head? Pearl… we should do something about that eye. And Rowan, how about you, you alright?” Rory says, concerned for her people. “Lallek and I will take first watch. Jasmine, you, Tank, and Jace will take second watch. Rowan, Pearl, and Micha will take third. Does that sound reasonable for everyone?”

Jace Colton
"I'm sorry. I wasn't aware we were suddenly required to ask permission for this alliance to run stupid into danger. I wasn't asked if I wanted to run headlong into an attack of killer mutated crows. That was something you just did, and assumed I'd be okay with it. Or that everyone would be okay with it. No one was consulted. It just happened. You all decided you wanted to do it?
"We didn't want to. So we didn't do it. It was just that simple. The fact that you think it had anything to do with 'sponsors' is just a tab bit insulting."
They wanted to throw themselves into danger? So be it. He wouldn't be doing it with them. "No offense, Micha. Your cousin is a friend of mine and my twin-brother's, but I made my own promises, and none of them included that. You know why I was dead set on staying away from you and Abby from the beginning, if you think long and hard about it.
"Things have changed now. More than one person will get to go home, but we don't know how big an alliance. It certainly isn't going to be all of you. Not all...how many? Probably not five. Or six. Or however many you're hoping for. We can pray for four.
"I'm guessing it's going to be three."
Dark eyebrows raise a little. "You all do with that what you will. Lallek and I are going to leave before the backstabbing starts--and trust me: It will. For all you all play at martyrdom and idealism, it will start. When you get hungry and cold and thirsty. It will start. So don't get all 'you should be grateful' at me. I don't need your approval, thanks so much. I need one person's. He's who I'm trying to get home to right now. Deal with it."
"I'll be packing my own bag. I'm not an idiot. As for watch: If you want me to be any good for that? I'll need patching up."
