Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine slept, bow in hand, knees pulled to her chest, sitting roughly up. Her dreams brought back her killing shot to Diamond, and the knifing of Emerald. But neither was tinged of with the sweat producing fear or regret. It'd bother her conscience when she woke, but only a touch. It meant the bit of her that allowed her to feel it had died when she'd pushed the knife into that girl's heart. A darkness had bloomed within her core. A stain on her soul, you might say. She also dreamt of home, her father and mother, and pair of brothers waiting for her. Watching her kill. Watching her light die with the Career. Watching her Kill.
She'd watched Nomad kill, but each one had been quick. A thrown rock, or thrust of a sword; during the heat of combat. Jasmine had quietly ended a life outside of combat. Murdered Emerald. That couldn't have been easy for her family to watch.
Then the bloodbath came back to her mind. And an idle worry for Sorrel and Odin, punctuated with an imagined, and gore-filled, explosion of Femra that snapped her head up as Rory woke her, and a muttered, "Femra..."
Jasmine's eyes took a moment to focus in the darkness on her friend's face before untangling her long limbs from her knees and slowly stood. She felt stiff after sleeping in the awkward sitting position. She looked down at Pearl near her, and opted to leave her winter jacket over the girl. She rubbed her hands together, swapping her bow from hand to hand as she did.
"All quiet'on this front?" she asked quietly, looking from Rory to Rowan. Then, before the other girl would have a chance to get an answer out, Jasmine leaned forward and wrapped both arms around Rory. "We still need tuh talk... Tuh grieve... 'Least I duh... an' I'd'uh tuh tell yuh somethin'... But tuhmorrow, alright?"
She scrubbed a hand across her eyes, rubbing sleep from them. No tears right now, however recent the feel of losing Femra the dream had made things. She then echoed Rowan's question. "How's watch? Anythin' tuh know 'bout 'fore takin' tuh ah tree?"

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
Rory bit her lips when Jasmine woke, her eyes welling, up. She wouldn't cry. Not here. Not yet. Not even for Femra.
"There was some movement by the lake but it didn't come near us. Mostly it's been quiet." Rory whispered to Rowan and Jasmine.
Rory had been doing well enough holding everything in. Rory was an emotional whirlwind. But she had tired to hold back, to not break down. However, when Jasmine's arms wrap around her Rory's tiny frame sags in her arms and she sobbed, silently. After a moment, Rory collected herself and nodded. "Tomorrow."
Glances around the camp once more. Lallek was falling asleep. Micha was still asleep. Now it was her turn. She wiped the tears from her dirty face. She smelled the faint oder of blood on her hands and shook her head.
"I'll be over next to Tank." She said pointedly, as low as she can. And after she got her responses, Rory walked over to Tank and curled up next to him. He'd be warm. And maybe she'd be able to sleep. Her last thoughts before she slipped into a light slumber was of Ferma. The innocent little girl from District 8. They hadn't known each other for a long time, but Rory counted her as a friend.

Jace Colton
"I'll do that." Think. That's all Lallek was asking. For him to 'think', and Jace figured he could do that much for the other boy. Think things through. It was hard with the pain, but at least he would be alright until morning.
Maybe they could manage some thread and a needle. Yes, it would hurt, but he could sew. He had a sister who could embroider like there was no tomorrow, but Jace knew how to sew. All the Colton kids could sew, because you had to be able to sew your own clothing.
Was 'stitching' really all that different.
Lallek wasn't the only one with blueberries in his pack, and the mushrooms Jace had found earlier would need to be eaten soon. Might be a little gamey, but at least it was something in his stomach, and he was getting hungrier. The rice and the fruit he'd save for later. It was meant for he and Lallek, so far as Jace could tell. Two servings of each.
He sniffs the mushroom, trying to decide whether it can be eaten raw or not before figuring it's not worth the risk and munching a few blueberries. A half-formed thought met instinct, and he offered what was in his hand to the girls.
"Blueberries. Lallek and I found a whole bush in the woods." He pointedly takes one from his own hand and eats. Chews. Swallows. "My sister Max loves 'em. Figured I'd share a few."
He was figuring the less he thought about what he'd done, the better. When he got out of here, he could collapse and grieve, but right now he didn't have that option. No matter how badly the tears prickled at the back of his eyes or how big the lump in his throat.
He didn't have the luxury of tears right now. Maybe later, when he wasn't surrounded. When they weren't watching. He'd never been good at crying when other people were watching.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine held Rory as she sobbed. A portion of her wanted to cry with the District 7 tribute, but nothing came at the moment. But she could be there for her friend. Jasmine released Rory after she'd collected herself. She offered a sad smile to Rory, then nodded with the confirmation of grieving properly later.
It was something they both needed. Something Jasmine hoped the Arena or other tributes didn't rob from them before then. "Rest well, mah friend..."
She watched Rory go over to join Tank, then looked to Rowan and quietly said, "I'm'a thinkin' of taking up residence inna tree fer my watch. I'd'a be honored if'n you'd join me."
She waited long enough for an answer, then moved to meet up with Jace. She disliked the boy, but saw no reason to keep him in the dark of where she intended to spend watch. She stopped near him, watching him sift through some dark berry and... mushroom? it was difficult to tell in the darkness of night. Though she accepted a couple berries after he munched one and offered them to her.
"Thank yuh, Jace," she said quietly, popping the berries into her mouth. She slipped her pack around, took her tin of jerky out and offered him a strip. "Kaleb, my youngest brother, likes mullberries. Ah've helped 'im pick 'em on our quiet down times in th' orchard. Yuh should eat th'meat though. It'll help 'bit more wit' yer injuries... Momma always said tha' meat replenished meat."
Mentioning her mother and brother brought her family to the forefront of her thoughts and she hoped they were sound asleep... and not worrying for her yet, though she knew that was not the case. When it had been Nomad on the screen, they'd hardly slept at all and the worrying hadn't ceased until after they'd put him into the ground.
"Rory said they he'rd something in th'lake durin' their watch, but it was quiet oth'rwise. I'm gonna take up a post in tha' tree where I can see furth'r an' provide cover fire if'n need be." She pointed to the tree she intended. "Did Lallek convey an'thing we oughta know?"

The district seven girl nodded discreetly to Jasmine's statement before the other girl moved to join Jace.
Rowan plucked a berry from Jace's hand and examined it, rolling it gently between forefinger and thumb. "Good to know that there are berries around here." She stated. "Should be some animal that eats them... maybe we can hunt tomorrow. If..." Rowan trails off with a glance towards the lake. -if whatever that is doesn't want to hunt us. She seems to be thinking. The brunnette popped a berry in her mouth; savoring the taste.
"We have berries in seven; but don't get them much." Going into the woods was forbidden; so those that went tended to look for herbal cures over handfuls of sweet fruit.
The brunnette lifted her water skin; taking a hearty drink for several moments. She shook it afterwards; frowning at the lightness. Seems that water was going too easily. Good thing that the lake was close.

"Never ate much meat...." Anyone who'd watched him eat in the Capitol would be able to see that. He'd picked at any meat that anyone put in front of him, and stuck to vegetables and fruits for the most part.
He had never overeaten. Had never stuffed himself. Had drank orange juice and milk and water, but had never done much more than graze when there was food around.
"...But you're right." He took the piece of jerky. "Thanks. And I think Lallek and I picked this bush clean, but there might be others." More than likely, anyway.
"I'll keep my ears open for whatever they heard."

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 FemaleJasmine nodded. She closed the tin of jerky and tucked it back into her pack. She nodded to Jace's comment. "Welcome. An' where there's one, there's likely more." She settled her pack back onto her back. "We'll watch over yuh, Jace, call warnin' if'n we see anything from up there." With that she made her way to the tree she'd indicated before and climbed up to the tree and found a good place to perch, where she could comfortably sit and watch the forest line and still see Jace as well. She waited for Rowan to join her, thinking on her mentor's words while looking out. Climbing: 8,10,6,1,4,5,5,2,8,8 (4 successes) Perception: 9,2,6 (1 successes)

The brunnette from district seven nods to Jace as she follows Jasmine to her tree. Rowna chooses a tree over from Jasmine as her perch. The female has a harder time climbing into her tree and settles in a fork in three about five feet from the ground. "Oho." Rowan said quietly. She straightened somewhat in her tree branch; looking towards the Lake. "May have figured out what those noises were. I see three tributes kneeling by the water side. I don't think that they are looking our way." Rowan speaks quietly to Jasmine. The girl whispers; so unless Jace has followed to the tree; he will not hear her.

GM Jasmine hears a crunching noise; like a boot print. It does not come from the lake; but from the woods to the north. Perhaps something moving around camp.

Jasmine Coverfield, Disctrict 11 Female
Jasmine stared into the darkness, fixed her gaze on Jace, then past to the water's edge. She sought the tributes Rowan had described. She nodded when she finally made out the dark silhouettes at the water's edge.
"Ah..." she started, then cocked her head to the side. She then whispered in response, low enough just to be heard by Rowan. "I hear somethin'... Like somebody walkin' in the woods. Think its jus' one..."
She dropped her voice an octave. She'd not win this alone, and Rowan was as good a person to present her plan to as anyone. She'd prefer Rory, knew Rory better, but... "Mah mentors mentioned I oughta know when to break away... an' I've been thinkin' on it. I think we oughta go durin' th' third watch... Quietly slip away in th'night. No fuss. Leave 'em th'supplies that they deserve an' go..." she said quietly to Rowan.
She waited for Rowan's response, while thinking on how to warn Jace of the trio of tributes at the lake and the one wandering the woods she'd heard.

"Moving out? You mean leaving those two?" Rowan indicates with a nod where Jace is on sentry duty and Lallek sleeps beside Micha.
"Makes me wonder where you are on the others. We've picked up strays. But I stay with my district. Its what my mentor wants." Rowan glanced over at Jasmine. "I can hop down and tell Jace about the others; if you think its urgent. We may need your bow up here." The brunette proposed.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine nodded when Rowan indicated Jace and Lallek. She then realized she might not be able to see her little nod in the deepening darkness.
"Yeah," she quietly said. "Leavin' those two for sure... Iff'n Micha an' Pearl would like tuh join us... All th'better... 'least fer now. I'm stickin' wit' y'all. Trust y'all." She looked at the trio of tributes at the lake's edge, then to Jace. She eased an arrow out of her quiver and into her bow.
"Go... Fer the moment we're'll still allies and he needs tuh know 'bout the potential danger," she said quietly, though not as quiet as her previous conversation with Rowan, though she dropped her voice again, just for Rowan's ears. "We'll werk out some details later."

Rowan carefully climbed down from her tree; pausing to glance around the camp for a moment. She takes a step closer to the sleepers, especially checking on Tank and Rory. Klo, Micha, Pearl, Lallek, Tank and Rory slept peacefully; undisturbed. Satisfied; Rowan moved towards Jace. She walks towards him slowly; her axe still in its sheath. As she approaches; she lifts an empty hand in greeting.
"Jace," She murmurs to get his attention. "We see tributes." She indicates with her hand where the others are kneeling by the Lake. After following her hand and some watching; their movement gives them away.
The tree line is thirty feet from the Lake shore and the other three tributes are kneeling there. You estimate that there is about thirty to forty feet to the other three tributes. They don't seem to notice the camp. The tree line provides some cover; but any one walking into the treeline would notice the camp. The other three are quiet; silent as far as you can tell. They most likely are filling their water skins from their crouched positions.
"Jasmine also heard someone walking around." Rowan finishes sharing. "Not sure we should wake the others for this. They may walk away again."

The two allied tributes - precarious as it was - continued to watch the strangers at the lake. The three linger for a few more minutes; drinking. They seem very dehydrated. The strangers fill their skins once more and straighten; glancing towards the tree line. The tributes on sentry duty stiffen; wondering if they had been seen. Yet the tall male shakes his head and points off towards the Grey mountains. The two females follow him as he strikes off towards the mountains.
Jasmine; from her high vantage point; was able to spot a small deer - like creature step out from the tree line towards the lake. It paused; its small nose twitching. The delicate head turned towards the lake for an instant. The deer suddenly sprang back as if startled; heading back to the trees.
As the tributes depart; Rowan points out her tree to Jace.
"I'll keep watch from up there." The night remains uneventful for the rest of the watch. Fatigue settles over Jace, Jasmine and Rowan. Rowan yawns; rubbing her eyes.
"I'm done." She states to Jasmine. "I'll go wake my district mates." She glances down towards Jace for a beat before replying.
"I'll go along with you if you leave." She whispers finally. "I don't have any love for these two; but I really don't want to kill them. If we never see them again; it'd be too soon. For all of us."
Rowan glances over to Jasmine; studying her. "I'll tell the others to come see you. If Jace rouses a partner; I'll try and buy you some time." The brunette descends her tree; waving towards Jace as she heads towards her district. She drops to a knee beside Tank; shaking his shoulder. Rowan leans over and taps Rory's good arm until she rouses. "Morning." Rowan states in a normal voice; so Jace can hear her. Rowan leans forward, inspecting Rory's hand. As she does so, she whispers to Tank and Rory.
"You should go see Jasmine before she goes to bed. " She looks emphatically into Rory's eyes. "She has something to say."
The brunette stretches; orienting her body to glance towards Jace. She tries to be discreet.

Tank gets up somewhat sluggishly, looking around as if unsure of his surroundings, before remembering where he was with a grimace on his face.
The male opened his mouth to say something, but got the impression from Rowan's face that now was not the time. Wordlessly, he stood up, picking up his pack and heading over to Jasmine to start the night's final watch.

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
Rory was dreaming... dreaming of Femra. Her bright little face was smiling at her. Then she was blown apart. Ripped at the seams. Gone.
"Femra... No..." Rory whispered, waking with a start. Reality hits her like a stack of bricks. And when she met Rowan's gaze there was a look of half-relief and half-despair on her face.
"Morning, Ro. Yea, the hand's fine," Rory replied. She looked at Rowan then nodded. Hopefully Jasmine was thinking the same thing she was thinking.
"I'll go see what she wants." She said.

Rowan tears her gaze from Jace to look towards Tank. Thankfully he didn't seem likely to spill the beans. He certainly was harder to figure out, Rowan thought. The girl turned back towards Rory; plucking a leaf from Rory's hair.
"It wasn't your fault." She emphasized in a normal speaking voice. "Femra. You can lead a horse to water; but you can't make it drink."

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
A smile graced Rory's features. But the light never quite reached her eyes.
"Maybe..." Rory replied. "But it doesn't make it hurt any less."
Femra had been hers. Like Jasmine. Like Rowan. Like Tank. Femra had been hers. And now she was gone. Rory took a step and then stopped, looking back. "Rowan... thanks... for a lot of things... but mostly for taking a drink."

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine watched Rowan go, then took to looking north. She strained her eyes, seeking out the source of the footsteps she heard earlier. The best she saw was a young dear-like critter come and have second thoughts about their camp. She couldn't really blame it. If she were alone out here, she'd not come anywhere near the camp.
The watch dragged on, Rowan rejoined her nearby, and Jasmine watched in silence. The night dragged on, and fatigue settled on her once more. She glanced toward Jace periodically throughout the night. She didn't like the boy, but until the end of this shift, as far as she was concerned, they were still allies. And she didn't toss her allies to the wolves.
It was Lallek who did that, she reminded herself. She drew a quiet breath and nodded to Rowan as she declared herself being done for the night.
"I'll wait here... If'n possible, wait 'til Jace goes to bed... Dun wanna raise suspicions, yuh know?" Jasmine said quietly and watched Rowan dismount her tree and head back to camp. She had an idle moment, hoping she was making the right call. She looked up at the sky, thinking of her mentors... would they approve of her sticking with District 7 instead of seeking out her own district?
She looked back down at Tank as he approached. "Come up, I'll tell yuh what I saw durin' th'night."
At least she assumed the District 7 male could climb the tree.

Klo rolled over onto the muddy earth floor with a muffled thud. "Ooaauughhhhh" She moaned and opened her eyes. But she couldn't see. The reality came rushing back to her. Your blind little girl. "Oh gosh." Klo muttered. She sat still, as she was still tied up, and listened to the tribute's conversations. Klo frowned. Tributes. This wasn't good. After the last ambush, Klo was sketchy, after all it was her who reasoned to stay behind yet they didn't listen and they died for their stupid mistake. Klo grit her teeth as her face contorted into a frown. Soon it would be morning and they would send her off into the tundra to survive. She secretly wished they would help her gather food before she was sent off to die but that would go against leaving to go die, that would mean surviving...

Tank eyed the tree Jasmine was sitting in, looking nonplussed by its size. Tank rolled 7 dice to "Treeclimbing" 4,5,8,7,8,7,2 (2 successes) A few moments later he was sat next to her, looking quite at home in the branches. "Lumber district." he offered as explanation, curious as to what she had to say to him.

Rory Noland rolled 7 dice to "Climbing Tree" 1,2,10,2,9,5,7,7 (2 successes) Her footing in beginning was wobbly but she explained it away by still being a little tired. "Hey. Jasmine watched Tank scale her tree. She smiled at his explanation. She'd expected as much. Both Rory and Rowan had demonstrated the ability to climb earlier in the games. She waited for about a minute and Rory's joining them before answering both their statement.
"Yuh. Jus' an update o' what we saw. There's three tributes down by th'lake an' at th'beginning o' our shift, Ah heard someone walkin' in the forest north o' us," Jasmine said. She then let her voice drop so it didn't carry past the three of them. "I been thinking... We should leave... now. Durin' third watch. Divide th'gear, pack it 'way an' get th'other two up fer their watch. See if'n they wanna come with us... If'n they do, alright. If'n not, we leave anyways. Dun wait fer the mornin' fight tha'll be Jace'n'Lallek demandin' more stuff than they deserve."
She paused, easing the arrow she'd held her entire watch back into her quiver. "What do y'all think?"

Rory Noland: District Seven Female Tribute
"We might run into them if we press on North." Rory replied. She listened to Jasmine's plan. And if she could feel anything, she would have smiled. It was a good plan. She had to admit, she had thought about it herself. They'd be fair. They'd have to be. Rory had talked too much about integrity to stiff Jace and Lallek.
"Okay, we pack up their things and we take the rest as well as Klo. And we head toward the tundra. We have to move now. I don't want another fight on our hands. And I don't want to waste time debating with Jace. We need a clean break." Rory said, her voice just as low as Jasmine's.

Tank frowned at the deception in leaving Jace and Lallek without so much as a goodbye to the duo, but it seemed that Rowan and Rory were dead set on this course of action. And where they went...
"Tank in."
