Lily went to follow Ember but paused, looking back at the armored body of the Career formerly known as Victoria. Chances are by the time they got back, the corpses would have been collected by the Gamemakers. With a frustrated sign, Lily knelt down and started to strip Victoria of her possessions. At least she could make use of a few pieces of armor, and the skin was always helpful given the water shortage problem so far. Stripping Glory quickly followed as nobody else had called dibs. Jan and herself had sustained the most damage during the fight, and the male had already left. She knelt, examining the prizes before her, before trading in her Studded Vest for one of the Chestplates and adding the Bevor to her collection of protection. When she was done, the following items still remained for grabs: +2 Helmet (Head) +2 Studded Vest (Chest) +2 Greaves (Legs) +3 Chestplate (Chest) +2 Helm with Visor (Head) +2 Bracers (Arms) "Hey Felix, there's some good armor here if you want any of it." Lily offered the male Seven. Being blind despite the aid of his helmet, he probably was the next one to need the gear. Hitpoints: 13/21 Willpower: 2/4 Equipment: Screwdriver, First Aid Needle, Information Packets, Medical Tools, Bandages, +2 Bracers(Arms), +2 Bevor(Neck), +2 Greaves(Legs), +2 Helm/Visor(Head), +3 Chestplate(Chest), Canteen (full), 3 Amber Colored Vials, 1 Amber Colored Syringe, 1 Turkey, 2 Cans of Perishable Food, Waterskin, Sword, +2 Set of 10 Throwing Knives, +3 Set of 10 Throwing Knives, +2 Knife, +3 Knife

Felix should have felt bad about Glory and Victoria’s deaths, and he should have felt even worse for taking their armor just after they had died. But he didn’t care anymore; their loss was his gain. He gathered up his things and moved over to Lily.
He smiled appreciatively at Lily, the girl who had hidden her wrath behind the rouse of a sweet child, and he suddenly realised that someone so ruthless was only good to him as an ally. He knew that, at some point, he may have to face her. Perhaps not, but if he did he would be expecting a good fight from her.
Maybe she’d be able to kill him, most likely. Because what she did to Victoria was brutal, and that was a Career.
He removed his chest armor and took the more favourable Chestplate [+3], donned the Arm Bracers [+2] and the Greaves; he slid one over his undamaged leg and stored the other in his backpack. He could fit it later. If there would be a later. The rest was unfitting, as he already had his seeing-eye helmet.
“You’ve done me a solid, Lily. And I’ll repay you.” Felix said slowly, smiling in a way he’d never smiled before. It was clear that he was wary of Lily, that he no longer viewed her the same way as he had before.
He didn’t need to protect her, rather she protected him it would seem.
As they moved forward, Felix spoke to Sassinak “Don’t go in there. If there’s trouble and I go down, take Coral and leave. Run.” He tells her, his tone calm and matter of fact, like he had come to the conclusion that this would be his final stand. He’s speaking quietly enough so that only Sassinak should hear him.
With a breath, he notched an arrow and aimed out in front of him, “We’re back up. We protect the men in front.” He said with another breath.
He’s afraid of what’s coming.

Ember and Jan remained 10 feet from Brass & Eclypse's position. Brass and Eclypse were aware of Jan and Ember's movements and were watching thier progress towards themselves. The boys from district one and two were calm. Eclypse was watching Jan; while Brass was steadily staring at Ember. This camp had been constructed in a clearing that spanned about twenty feet, with large rubble pillars at the center. Some trees dotted the edges of the clearing, where the jungle once again reclaimed the land. It was Jan and Ember who realized something was wrong first. It was a sharp tug on his left ankle, the sharp and painful sensation of constriction. Looking down, the two saw that a rope noose was tightly coiled around Jan's left ankle. He had stepped onto a rope snare designed to jettison him into a hanging position. The rope ran up over his head, holding taut near his neck. The two saw a clear frame was errected fourteen feet above thier heads. The rope was tied in place there, far too high to reach. This was clearly not natural to the arena and had to have arrived as a sponsor gift. Had a smaller tribute stepped here, they would already be ensnared above. If Jan lifted his foot, he believed that the lack of resistance would catapault him above to the framework. He was already pulling against the rope and buying himself some time to study the trap he had walked into. There was no give in the noose around his ankle, no wiggle room at all. One could cut the rope at the ankle - hopefully avoiding flesh - or higher up, where the rope crossed Jan's chest and neck. If one tried to cut the rope at a point above Jan's head, they would have to balance carefully not to disturb Jan's foot. As Ember glanced around the camp, she noted overturned earth around the exterior of the camp. She couldn't see any traps, but the sight reminded her of the pit traps from last years Games. For Felix, Lily, Coral, Sassinak and Isolde, they discovered that the four large clunks of rubble impacted thier view of the camp. The two center pillars stood at four and five feet, the two flanking rubble mounds cleared six feet and were two feet wide. These were clear blind spots if the careers or your alliance walked behind them. Coral and Sassinak looked down at the armor as Lily and Felix finished thier choices. Sassinak seized the helmet with visor, immediately employing the visor over her eyes. Coral donned the [+2] studded vest and pulled the helmet [+2] on over her light colored hair. "I have no intention of walking in there." Sassinak whispered back to Felix. "Be careful. If any one comes for us here, lets run back to the factory.""These pillars are terrible." Isolde whispered. "I have no shot once they walk around them. I'm going to move around in the trees. Care to come with me?"Sassinak hesitated, glancing towards Felix. "The others mentioned traps. Should we go with her?"Isolde had extended the idea and did not wait for the district seven tributes to come to a decision. She walked slowly around the tree line, choosing a tree where she could see Jan and Ember. She leaned against the smooth bark and placed an arrow, raising her bow to line up a shot a few feet in front of Jan. When someone stepped near him, she was going to release for a very precisely placed arrow. "Watch your step." Coral whispered, moving on the other side. "I can't get a very good throw here. I need to move to that other tree. Keep a look out behind us, too. Who knows where that Bailey went." Coral moved forward and stood behind the closest tree to the clearing. She turned back and looked behind Sassinak and Felix, checking for any signs of aggressors. Once satisfied, she turned forwards, studying Ember and Jan. "We need to give them support." She stated, louder. "I'm going to keep at Eclypse. Who are you going to attack? We need to keep straight so we don't risk hitting Ember and Jan." The girl threw the circular blade well, scoring a cut on Eclypse's left shoulder. She caught the blade and readied another throw. Elclypse checked the cut and remained calm, watching the two tributes. He was wary and vigilant. Brass also refrained from rash action, staying light on his feet and watching for incoming attack. Coral rolled 8 dice to "Chakram to Eclypse" 7,9,6,6,1,10,3,3,10,3 (3 successes) Eclypse dodges this round, making his defense 4. Brass dodges this round. Utilizing his weaponry dodge, he has 7 defense. Options for Jan's leg trap: Cutting Cutting the rope, avoiding Jan himself - One could cut it at the ankle with a - 3 mod
- One could cut it higher up across Jan's chest with a -4 mod
- One could cut it at above Jan's head with a -5 mod. Failure would mean disturbing Jan's foot and causing the snare to snap Jan upwards.
Options for the trap: Being creative in athletics - Jan could attempt to jump out of the snare with a Dex + athletics and a - 4 mod.
- Someone could hold onto Jan, weighing him down and giving a +1 mod to cutting the rope

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” A long string of swear words fell out of Ember's mouth. She kicked at the ground, threw a rock, and spat toward Brass and Eclypse. "Traps." Ember said. "Copy cats... Can't beat us at your game so you've got to try and play ours. What happened to your promise Champ? I thought we were going to meet face-to-face. Or are you going to show Panem how far District 2 has fallen? Sweetness is dead. Princess, too... And the idiot child shouldn't even be called a career, so I won't be worrying about him. Even if he gets a few good ones in, I'll kill him... Prolly won't even break a sweat doing it. So that just leaves you, Champ. My only real competition out of the Careers. Come on, face me like a warrior. Or are you coward? Because I think you are a coward. I think you can only take tributes when their unarmed and kneeling before you.""Hey Charming... Hang tight," Ember told her ally, stepping toward him. Ember Clay rolled 11 dice to "Perception " (1 successes)

Lily judged the distance between herself and the Careers... and her heart sank as she realized there was no chance she could make the shot with one of her throwing knives. Maybe if the Careers were standing still, but they unfortunately weren't quite that stupid. Cautiously she stepped forward to where Jan and Ember seemed to be caught in traps of their own. If she couldn't attack, maybe she could go assist one of them in getting free? Lily Zelle rolled 6 dice to "Perception" 2,5,10,1,6,1,3 (1 successes) Lily Zelle rolled 6 dice to "Something Else" 4,2,5,7,6,10,7 (1 successes)

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy Who Would Watch the World Burn
He should be panicking right now.
He wasn't.
So far as he could tell, as long as he didn't move his foot, the snare couldn't pull him up. If he were a smaller person--someone Lily's size, maybe--that trap would have snagged him and pulled up. As it stood, it was his weight and the fact that he wasn't panicking and trying to pull himself free that was keeping him on the ground.
Jan took a deep breath, looking up at the frame. He really didn't want to be up there. Not up there, and helpless, and dangling. That was not how he wanted to die.
Fear of death? None. He just wasn't in a hurry to make it happen.
"I'll be alright, Sunshine." Whether it was that lack of fear or the fact that he trusted Ember and Izzy to get him out of this, he had no idea, but he was calm. Collected.
Unafraid.
"I'll just hang out here." He grinned, looking up. Looking down.
Right. He only had a couple of options right now, but all of them included not moving his foot.
So he wasn't gonna.

Felix nodded at Sassinak, relieved that she had the same thoughts as him. There was something off about all of this, and Felix wished he’d spoken up about letting the Careers come to them when he’d had the chance. But as he watched Lily move off and towards the Careers, Felix felt himself...
Not care.
It was a strange feeling, but he knew that Lily would be okay. He trusted Jan and Ember to keep her safe, and perhaps that was when Felix finally understood that Lily didn’t belong with him, Sassinak, Coral and Boomer. Lily was a fighter, like Jan and Ember. And she could win this thing. He wanted her to win.
He looked at Sassinak worriedly, and when Coral mentioned Bailey, Felix frowned. “What? Where did she go? Wasn’t she..?” Felix didn’t like this at all, and he looked at Sassinak again. He nodded.
“Follow Coral. We can get a clearer shot over there.” Felix was worried, he was worried that Sassinak might die. He was worried that Coral might die. He was worried that... He was worried about everyone, but now he knew that if it came down to it, he’d save his own alliance over the other.
Because they would do the same, too. And Felix wasn’t going to be the weakest link anymore.
He followed Coral cautiously on his crutches, and then he leant against a tree and took a hold of his bow, notching and arrow and aiming across at Brass. Not Eclypse.
Brass.

Lacey glanced over at the now still forms of Jan and Ember, frowning. "Cotton, you've been watching the camp." "Yes." He stated slowly, still crouching beside his large pillar. The staff dipped towards Lily as Lacey spoke. "Help her if you can." Cotton's face soured into a snarl of dissatisfaction, jerking his head to Jan. "He cut you. Let him hang." "So let him hang." Lacey agreed. "But we struck a deal for this - so get Lily out and she can start seeing to her people." Cotton's face swung towards Jan, dark with anger. Disobedience brews on his face and something rude is likely on the tip of his tongue. Lacey sees this and cuts it off with. "Tit for tat, Cotton. I knocked that boy silly already. You don't like it, we can slice him six ways to Sunday once this is done. But -" The girl from district eight nodded towards Brass and Eclypse. " - we came here with a job to do. You're not going near them." There's no derision in her voice, no judgement. Its a simple statement without prejudice. Cotton didn't move, unswayed. "Fine." Lacey declared. "But I'm going to have to deal with these two. Do you really want me to do it alone?" Cotton glanced towards the careers, who watched the ensnared tributes and the bickering eights calmly. They were undisturbed and awaiting the battle to commence. "Traps worked so nicely last Games, don't you remember?" Eclypse asked Ember. "I remember Cade's death and all of the others. Districts four, seven and nine - your allies right now, aren't they- didn't seem to think it was dishonorable." Eclypse recalled. "I doubt you think those thoughts of Jan's brother. I doubt any one thinks Tank, Jasmine and Rory are cowards. " He turned towards Brass. "Don't people think such positive things of those five? Some people, anyway. I remember the ambush going so well in the trap setting tributes' favor. We didn't ask you here for a gladiator style rumble, one on one. You chose to try and sneak up on us; and here we are. "We have a deal with twelve." Eclypse reminded. "No terribly pathethic deaths here." He looked over towards Cotton, smirking. "We made no such deal with eight or five. Go ahead and try to get them free, if you want. Or listen to your friend and come at us in thier stead." The knife is balanced across Eclypse's knuckles with ease, dancing in a tricky display of dexterity and weapon finesse. "Don't." Lacey whispered, likely so only Cotton, Jan and Ember heard it. Cotton ignored Eclypse as he began to talk, instead he extrended his hand to Lily. "Hang onto me." He advised. The boy weighed more than the girl and he squatted, pulling on the rope that bound her by pulling her down to the ground as well. Cotton's staff licked out, the knife tied to the end slicing the rope just over Lily's head. He held Lily's hand a moment longer, looking at the girl. "Stab Lacey," He whispered, so very quietly that Lily wondered if the others heard him at all. "- and I'll see your alliance dragged to hell."The boy loosened his grip on Lily. The girl was free to move. Cotton rolled 6 dice to "Helping Lily [+2 foreknowledge of trap]" 10,1,10,1,4,1,1,1 (2 successes) "You want a honorable, fair fight, Ember?" Eclypse looked to the girl. "Get yourself free and meet us at the horn at noon tomorrow. We'll do things honorably and one on one. Otherwise unbunch your panties, because if you bring your blade at us with nine of your friends at your back; we will do our best to slaughter you." Lacey rolled 14 dice to "Dangerous Radius - 2 for Ecypse" 1,8,1,8,4,2,8,1,9,10,6,8,1,5,3 (6 successes)
Lacey's staff - the gift from district eight - spun above her head, soundly smacking Eclypse and Brass. Brass rubbed his bleeding ear, Eclypse pinched his bleeding nose. The blow was impressive and the girl lowered herself into a squat, preparing what looked to be another spin. Felix, Isolde, Coral, Boomer, Sassinak Coral turned around, scanning the woods. "I don't see her.""Bailey isn't a fighter, is she?" Sassinak questioned. "She hid in the Jungle during the Bath."Sassinak leaned closer towards the clearing, frowning. "Why aren't they moving?""Because they can't." Isolde swore. "They're caught up. Somebody needs to go and help them. I have a shot lined up; so I'll get someone if they move on you."
"Someone," Coral muttered so Isolde couldn't hear. "- can run themselves onto the sword for this."
"Be kind." Sassinak reprimanded, just as softly. "They've cared for us."
"I give them two minutes - or until the careers start moving on them - and I'm going to help."
"Think of Felix." Coral disagreed. "We came here to ambush careers. That didn't work out. We can leave here. If they run over here, Felix can't run. He can hobble about as fast as a tortoise - no offense, Felix. I don't know how I can help him by myself. Now we can stay where we're comfortable, hiding and sniping with no shame. " Her expression is twisted. Disgust, fear - and a bit of self loathing.
"Don't forget that Jace died defending his friend, noble - and neither of them went home. Conrad watched Cypress die because he was tricked into a fight he didn't need." Coral shook her head. "I'm not letting you run yourself on Coltons' sword. They wanted to be out there, thats on them. If we can help them, awesome. But after those two die, how long before we start looking like ways home to them?"
"What the hell are you all whispering about?" Isolde barked, loudly.
"Deciding whose going out there." Sassinak replied to Isolde, loudly. "You two can not become Cypress." Coral warned under her breath. It was a cruel comment, for Cypress was a martyr of district seven. The girl hadn't been a fighter but she had been Conrad's friend. Perhaps she wasn't meant to be a victor, some people of district seven said, but she was devoted to Conrad's hope to the end.
"You lot talk too much." Isolde declared. She spoke again, her voice carrying to Ember & Jan via the ear piece. "Do. Not. Move. Shooting Brass."
Isolde rolled 5 dice to "Shooting Brass [11 - 7 + 1]" 2,5,8,1,2 (1 successes)
Brass took the arrow in the leg and frowned down at it. He whispered something to Eclypse and the two stepped back, under the outstretched branches of the tree.
Attempts at Archery & Chakram / throwing knives now suffer -3 for concealment

As Lily was cut loose and Cotton whispered his warning she shot the male a look that was half-annoyance and half disappointment in his low opinion of her morality. Yeah... attack the leader of the group that just saved her ass... great tactical decision there. Taking but a second to gauge the distance between the ropes that threatened Jan and Ember's ground level position, Lily made a grand sweeping strike designed to cut through both ropes one after the other. Lily Zelle rolled 7 dice to "Freeing Ember" 5,4,9,7,9,3,7 (2 successes) Lily Zelle rolled 6 dice to "Freeing Jan" 8,7,1,7,7,2 (1 successes) With a smug flourish Lily twirled the knife in her hand.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Ember looked at Lily like a proud big sister. She nodded to the little girl. "That was perfect, thanks."Ember glanced at Eclyspe and laughed. And laughed. And laughed. "I can do little fancy things like that too. And I didn't need to be a career to do it. Let's face it, man, I better than you in every single way."She glanced at Cotton and the look on her face was partly a challenge. However one for a later time. She'd hurt him for his little remark. She'd hurt anyone that came against them. And if she had heard Coral's remarks, the girl from District four might have woken up with Ember's knife sticking out of her chest. "What would I call Charming's twin? Misguided. He trusted a career. Died for one... But no, Jace Colton was no ruttin' coward. Neither was the Big Alliance. And as I recall it was a weasel from District Four that set those traps and him... I'd call him a coward. Easy. Just like I'd call you one." Ember paused laughing again. "I wasn't talking to you, Idiot. I was talking to the Champ. The big man with the sword."Ember stood her ground and smirked. "If you manage to get away from this fight, Noon at the Horn it is. But something tells me, you won't. Everyone.... Eclyspe is mine. Don't attack him... There... Come on, you feeling so eager to die tonight, step on up." She speak again but this time to Isolde through the ear piece. "Good shot. And I love you, too Sweetpea." Ember Clay is dodge. Def is 8 until next action.
Armor: Clothes: Weapons: Gear: Hit Points: 20/ 21Willpower:2/ 6 Boomer: District Five Male Tribute, “The Crafter” Boomer had been standing next to Felix and the others. There's a look given to the trio as Coral begins to whisper. He took one of his matches and a hollowed out coconut. He glanced at Felix then his district partner and lit the fuse. "Thunder!" He yelled to Lily and the others. He wanted to throw it in the middle of Brass and other career. "Lacey get out of there, NOW!" Boomer rolled 9 dice to "Boom! + Will" 10,2,5,6,1,9,9,8,9,5 (5 successes)

"So if you win this thing, Little Bit? Make your way to District 9 and ask for 'Sammy Colton'. He's about your age, and I totally approve of the Match." Jan grinned, looking across the clearing at the Careers.
Though...
"Leave my brother out of this." He'd never hidden how he felt about Jace. "Ember is right about him. He was misguided. Trusted the wrong person, and he died for it. But one thing Jace never was: A coward. He was just too good for this world, and it killed him in the end.
"End of story."
The Capitol could make of that what they would. He didn't care. Izzy's statement and subsequent arrow to the back of Brass' leg caused a quirk of a smile, though when the coconut and the yell sounded, Jan looked to Ember.
He didn't have to be a genius to figure out what Boomer had been up to, and he grabbed Ember's hand.
"Run. Now." Trust me.

Lacey leaped back from the tree where Brass and Eclypse had vanished behind, landing on her stomach behind the same pillar as Cotton. The two crouched down together, visible for three seconds before a loud roar sounded. Glancing towards the tree, one could see an orange haze licking the ground. Dark smoke hung in the air, making ones' eyes tear and burning ones' throat. The heat was a billow of warm air, superheating you. The chill from earlier was replaced with an uncomfortable warmth. BOOM The sound of a cannon marked the departure of another tribute. Yet who was it? Any attempt to get closer was driven off by the smoke and oppressive heat. The flames were spreading in a six feet near - circle in front of the tree. Someone with keen eyes could see two forms moving behind the tree, moving farther back. Then every one suddenly saw movement. The underbrush began to shake and jostle. Small tan skinned forms darted behind Felix, Sassinak and Coral. Isolde startled when she saw small black eyes staring down at her from a tree branch above, whatever it was concealed in shade. "Something's here!" She shouted. Jan, Ember and Lily had perhaps a second to process before something hit the ground in front of Lily's foot. It was a small arrow, perfectly miniature and about a fourth of a size of a regular arrow. Pain suddenly erupted in Jan's left shoulder. One of the miniature arrows had barely pricked Jan's skin, causing an irritating burning pain. Lily suddenly felt a stabbing pain coupled with an intense burning pain in her left ankle. Ember ducked her head as two more arrows struck the ground on either side of her. "Aaaah!" Coral shrieked as an arrow sank into her back. She twists, attempting to reach the one spot that she could not. "Oh! Oh, its burning!"They were under attack by something unseen! Lacey rolled 5 dice to "Flee" 7,5,3,8,8 (2 successes)

Well this planned assault was rapidly going to hell... Ladies, mental men, thank you and good riddance. Stupid traps and stupid Careers were bad enough but when they threw in midgets with frickin' blowdarts that was too much...
Lily turned and ran for the sanctuary of the Factory.

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy Who Would Watch the World Burn
It burned.
One hand grasped his shoulder, but he kept hold of Ember's hand. "Run!" Because you couldn't fight what you couldn't see, and it was better to get out of there before those things hit them anymore than they already had.
"Izzy! Run!"
He wasn't going to die like this, and neither was Ember. Nor was Isolde, if he had anything to say about it.
IT was time to get out of here, and it was time to get back to the Factory. If only to snatch up their things and Little Bit.
And get patched up.
Because that?
That burned.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Who was dead? Ember couldn't see. Then the tiny arrows. Ember put her knives away when Jan grabbed her hand. Trust him? With my life...She let those words go unspoken. Because how odd was it to even think such a thing about another tribute in the Games? Let alone the other thoughts that constantly drifted in and out of her head. Thoughts that she called crazy. Thoughts of another life where... No. I can't think that way.Ember knew what her destiny was. She knew what she was born to do. Six years ago, she could have been Lily. Perhaps that's why she treated the young girl the way she did. Someone had once treated Ember like family. Someone had once looked at her and loved her. Everyone deserved that. Especially, a 12 year-old tribute in the Games. "NOON AT THE HORN!" Ember yelled, coughing through the thick smoke. "YOU HEAR ME YOU COWARD! YOU PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A CAREER! IF BRASS DOESN'T KILL YOU IN YOUR SLEEP, ECLYSPE, I WILL. ONE-ON-ONE..." She looked at Jan and nodded; she was down. Ember took his hand, and grabbed Lily's, leading them out of the smoke. She looked out for any traps along the way. Once they got a certain distance, Ember shoved them on. "Go, I'll catch up." Ember told them. She then began to cover their tracks. She was an expert tracker. She could make a false trail something for whatever the Gamemakers had cooked up to chase them. Ember didn't want them following them to their safe haven. Once she was done she took off. Ember Clay rolled 8 dice to "Perception" 10,10,5,3,6,9,8,3,9,9 (6 successes) Ember Clay rolled 9 dice to "Covering their tracks" 3,2,8,9,7,10,2,8,4,6 (4 successes) Ember Clay rolled 6 dice to "RUN!" 5,3,10,7,6,5,2 (1 successes)

Felix barely had time to think. Between Boomer’s bomb and the cannon sounding, everything had become strange and surreal blur. People were running, Coral screamed and tried to reach for a miniature arrow in her back. Felix gasped and quickly reached forward, taking a hold of the arrow and pulling it sharply from his ally’s back with a short, “Sorry.” He then pointed forward, gave her a small push and then turned to Sassinak.
“Run, run and get back to the Factory.” He said, pushing her slightly too, “Don’t turn around, keep running. Get back there.” The tone in his voice told her that he wouldn’t argue about this.
And then, with a small grunt, he made off as fast as his leg and two crutches would take him after he had slung his bow on his back for the third time in such a short span of a few minutes.
Brass wasn’t dying tonight, he supposed. And now that this had happened, Felix doubted highly that he would be able to kill the beast. He doubted he would get back to the Factory, either.

Isolde raced to Jan's side, staying with her district partner, Lily and Ember as they ran. They quickly realized that the smoke was making it difficult to see. They could not see Felix, Sassinak or Coral any longer. Even Lacey and Cotton had left the pillar, fleeing themselves. Arrows and darts flew in the air around around them, hounding their steps. "They were in the trees!" Isolde hissed to Jan. "I just saw a pair of black eyes - ahh!"Some small, glittering knife sliced out from behind a tree. Isolde leaped over it and quit conversation, devoted to running. Ember paused to conceal their tracks and found the jungle came alive around her. Even as she worked to conceal their tracks, she could see the brush moving all around her. Ember felt that she had done a good job at concealing it, but as she worked she felt two stabbing pains pierce her left arm. Business done, Ember turned and followed after her alliance. Yet the four quickly realized that they were still hounded. These beasts had eyes that were sharper than any beast that Ember had bested. These mutations were insidious and nearly invisible, hounding Lily, Jan, Ember and Isolde silently. As Jan and Lily moved, Lily suddenly began to trip. Jan's shoulder and Lily's ankle were now sluggish, uncooperative. It was as though their ankle and limb were falling asleep. Their ability to run was fading and danger was all around them... "- we have to hurry. " She encourages Felix even as Coral shoves her forward. "Go!" Coral hisses quietly. "Sassinak, run.""He can't -""I'll stay with him. Run!" Coral hisses quietly, now pinching Sassinak's good arm to encourage her speed. "Felix." Lacey appeared before him. Felix saw Cotton at her shoulder, physically blocking her from the direction of the arrows and darts. She was unharmed, still bedecked in the the camouflage of the jungle. Both she and Cotton held their staves at their side, passively and non aggressive. She took in his crutches and turned, pointing towards a row of trees cloaked in shadow. "Come with us. We have a place where we've been hiding." She emphasizes. "Its very good, we've been there for days." "Careful, girl." Coral was at Felix's back, her voice hard as steel. Felix could see Sassinak pause, watching the conversation. She looked concerned and glanced to him, quitting the run and moving to his side. "I'm not going to hurt you." Lacey promised. "But it has walls that can protect us from this. Come if you want - but stay close to me, its hard to find." The girl turned and hurried towards the shadowed trees, Cotton falling in step behind her. "No." Coral stated, looking at Felix. "We should hide." Sassinak disagreed.

As Ember looks over her shoulder as she rose from her work, she saw a vine part. Through the vine carpet on a curved tree trunk six feet above her head, she saw a pair of bare feet. These feet were miniature, barely five inches long. This pair of feet belonged to a miniature man, clothed in dark tree trunk bark. Two glittering miniature knives were glittering on his hips. He held a small perfectly formed bow and was aiming it down at her. Many tiny arrows glittered on the pygmy's back. As it moved, Ember could see more small feet landing onto the branch, more pursuers. These small forms were barely clothed and likely would be easy to hurt... if ones' weapons or arrows could land on such small forms. Perhaps the means to kill these new mutations would be to look more towards defense or offense that did not need accuracy.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Come morning they were setting fire to the Jungle. Ember had decided it even before she got hit twice. That just sealed their fate. As Jan and Lily began to slow down, Ember knew her arm was next. She knew it. So it meant they had to work fast. He's gonna hate this but it might save our lives..."BOOMER GET LILY NOW!" Ember it wasn't a request. And has Boomer scooped up Lily, Ember did the same with Jan. Once that was done, Ember looked for two things. One: how they hell they could get out and back to the factory. And Two: if these guys had a weakness. Ember is dodging. Def 8 Ember Clay rolled 7 dice to "How do we get out + Will" 1,2,5,5,10,10,6,9,2 (3 successes) Ember Clay rolled 6 dice to "Yea... but how do I kill it?" 6,5,9,2,9,2 (2 successes) Ember Clay rolled 4 dice to "Lifting Jan" 2,10,8,2,7 (2 successes) Ember Clay rolled 6 dice to "RUN!" 9,5,8,1,6,8 (3 successes)
Armor: Clothes: Weapons: Gear: Hit Points: 20/ 21Willpower:1/ 6 Boomer: District Five Male Tribute, “The Crafter” Boomer jumped when Ember barked at him but he didn't need to be told twice. He took Lily in his arms. And fell in line with Ember. Boomer rolled 7 dice to "Lifting Lily" 8,9,1,4,8,5,5 (3 successes) Boomer rolled 6 dice to "RUN!" 6,7,10,5,6,7,2 (1 successes)

Lacey and Cotton.
Ember and Jan.
Lily and Boomer.
Felix didn’t know what to do, and as he looked from Coral to Sassinak, he broke.
“We do what we have to Coral. I don’t know what those damn darts are going to do to you. I want to get you to safety right now.” Felix barked. He looked at Sassinak and for a moment, his face just screamed I hate this. His mouth was open, breathing heavily from rushing, and it looked as though he there was some kind of internal battle going on inside of him.
“Follow them.”
Regret.
There was a clear sense of regret in Felix’s voice as he spoke the words, and he gave Coral a nudge. He couldn’t ‘see’ Lily and the others anymore. And he had to assume that they were dying, or they were on their way back to the Factory.
This meant that the Factory was no longer a safe haven for Felix, Sassinak and Coral. He didn’t know if he could trust Lacey and Cotton. Where the heck was Bailey? Too many ideas were screaming at him in his mind as he nudged Coral again.
“Don’t lose them.”
Felix’s order was half-hearted, and he felt himself shatter inside as he followed as quickly as he could away from the people who had been his allies.
The people he had seen as... Almost friends.

Lily Zelle rolled 7 dice to "Murderous thoughts" 1,2,3,3,2,7,5 (0 successes) As Lily's running speed became more and more difficult to maintain she started to feel the cold sting of despair. How could they fight so many of these damn things in this condition? In all the smoke and confusion, she wondered how Felix and the others were faring... if the rest of her alliance didn't survive this encounter she was going to kill whoever was responsible for their deaths. Lily turned, trying to get a bead on one of them, (take one down with her at least...) and jumped out of her skin as Ember barked orders and Boomer suddenly swept her off her feet. She gave her district partner a grateful look, throwing knife in her hand as she scoured the trees, watching Boomer's back as he tore for the Factory. Lily Zelle rolled 6 dice to "Looking for Trouble (+Will)" 6,10,3,9,10,6,5,10,6 (4 successes)

Wolf Pack The new Wolf Pack hurried towards the factory. The jungle seemed to be alive from the twitching vines and the shaking underbrush. Arrows darted the ground behind the new Wolf Pack. As the city became darker, the noises became less prevalent. As Ember ran, she became aware of how odd that was. They wern't running very fast. These creatures had been deadly accuate - shooting both herself, Jan and Lily. Had these creatures continued the pursuit, they could have been truly hurt, even killed. Open moonlight shone down as the pack broke out of the city and into the flat ground that led to the Factory. There was no pursuit now and one could slow down if they wished. Perhaps now was when they noticed Felix, Sassinak and Coral's absence. Ember had a realization that the creatures were not following because they were as territorial as a Jungle cat. And hadn't she and Jan heard whispers while they had been hunting earlier? And why hadn't the careers come out to fight them, for they knew where thier own traps were? Perhaps while dwelling there, they had encountered something to keep them vigiliant - perhaps traps or perhaps the pygmies themselves. Ember realized that these creatures must also be in the Jungle where she and Jan had visited, as well as the Hidden City. As they were so hard to see and so small it would be difficult to find them with blades or arrows, a mass effect would be best to eliminate them. The five quickly reached the factory, while Isolde gripped that Coral had kept the sevens from venturing out to aid Ember and Jan. "I'm sorry I didn't get out there. I just thought the careers were going to come for you..." Wolf Pack is now at the FactoryFelix "Come on." Someone snaps impatiently. Felix suddenly finds himself swept up into someones' arms, even as Sassinak loudly protests, her fists slapping into Cotton's shoulder. Coral is silent, having raised her chakram. "Don't you hurt him-" "Shut up!" Lacey hissed. "Quiet. We'll explain later. Felix finds Sassinak by his side as Cotton carries him through a carpet of vines. Its very dark in here, but Lacey and Cotton move quickly, able to find correct foot falls. He can hear Coral stumbling and swearing behind him. Soon, Lacey comes to a rock face covered with vines. A large tree drapes the entire area in shadow. She raps on the rock face, hissing. "Bailey." Nothing happened. Lacey became impatient, hitting the rock again. "Bailey!" Glancing nervously behind her, Lacey reaches into the darkness. The group hears five computer generated sounds as Lacey touches something with her fingers. Lacey steps forward into the darkness and Cotton carries Felix in after her. Coral and Sassinak are right behind him, running into Cotton and Felix when he stops to close the door. Light suddenly blooms from above and Felix finds himself in a room with white tile floor, four walls, four computer screens and a computer keyboard. There is a sturdy steel door behind them. The room is slightly larger than the average living room of a luxious home. There is another side room where darkness lines the wall. Sassinak peers into it, announcing. "Its a sky light." "Another hatch door, too." Cotton sets Felix down on to the ground. "Bailey?" Lacey frowns, checking the other room. The two rooms were small, square shaped and held no place to hide. "Where is she?" She looks to Cotton worriedly. "I gave her the code to run here." "Its the Anthem," Sassinak states from beneath the skylight. She enters the main room to take Felix's hand. The group could clearly see the anthem by peering up through the glass cieling. The anthem opened with the loud anthem, showing promotional shots of all of the tributes who had entered at the Blood Bath. Then the music changed to a more somber tone and the faces began to flash. Victoria, District One Glory, District Two Bailey, District 3 There's an audible sob from Lacey as she collapses onto the floor. The anthem continues with the pleasant voice of an announcer. "The Capitol would like to host the remaining tributes with a Feast in two days. The location will be announced tomorrow evening...'

Being picked up in foreign arms caused Felix to protest a little. He had been taken by surprise and he moved around, and when Sassinak started to protest he panicked for a moment. What the hell had just happened. But when he calmed down enough to hear what his earpiece was saying, and Cotton’s voice, Felix allowed himself to be shamefully carried, clutching onto his crutches as they rushed to what could be death.
For all he knew, Lacey and Cotton could be leading them to their deaths. He was constantly looking for Sassinak and Coral, and he breathed worriedly as Coral made noises as she tripped.
When Lacey started banging on the rock, calling Bailey’s name, Felix’s breath shook a little. Apparently the two allies hadn’t had this in mind. He didn’t say a word. He allowed himself to be carried inside and as light flooded in he felt confused.
He had heard Lacey tapping on rocks and calling for Bailey, and now they were inside someplace with lights and tiles and computers?
Curious.
Felix heard Sassinak say that the Anthem was playing, and when her hand closed around his he let out a choking sound and suddenly he pulled her into a tight embrace.
It wasn’t the people that had died that made him react like this. It was Lacey’s reaction to Bailey’s death, and it was the fact that he had defied himself to get to this place.
He cried because he was glad that none of the others had died, and he cried because he felt like he’d lost himself to the Games. He cried because they were safe. He had no idea why this was taking such a huge toll on him, but it had. He wasn’t sobbing, he wasn’t a mess. But he was crying nonetheless.
Felix composed himself quickly, coughed, and then turned to Coral.
“We need to check that.” He said, clearing his throat, “Come here.” He said quietly.

Sassinak clutched at Felix's hair tightly, burying her face in his shoulder.
"I was so scared." She admitted quietly. "I saw them get caught... and I wanted to help, but I was so scared."
"Thank you." Coral stated to Felix as he turned to her back. Yet as he examined the wound, he realized that Coral was completely relaxed. She didn't flinch as he examined the wound, something very odd. Then Felix noticed an odd smell - sickly sweet, like a fruit. Something with red, fleshy flecks was stuck to Coral's shirt.
Coral suddenly twisted, trying to touch her back with her hand. She touched her back with her hand - once, twice. Then she pinched herself.
"I can't feel my back... the top of my legs. Oh god. Oh god, I'm paralyzed."
"Shh.." Sassinak knelled beside her, turning her to reveal the arrow wound. It looked so small and superficial to be causing so much trouble.
"What... what happened to her. I told her to run. Why would she stay." Lacey sniffled, kneeling on the ground. "She wanted to help." Cotton realized, his voice wooden with grief as he stroked Lacey's hair. "She knew the careers were hiding thier gear. She mentioned something about finding it, but I'd told her it would be stupid to look. I.. I should have realized she didn't understand."
"She was such an idealist. So in her own head she didn't see how dangerous people could be." Lacey lapsed into near - silent crying.
"What the hell were those things." Cotton growled. "We haven't seen them on the monitors."

Sassinak’s voice had calmed him, and knowing that his fear was matched made him feel a little less meek. When he let go of his district partner he took her head in his hands and kissed her forehead before turning to Coral to check out the wound.
He frowned. What was it? And it was causing her a lot of distress it seemed. As Sassinak moved over to Coral’s side he looked at her and grimaced.
“I’ve never seen anything like this...” He admitted, “Did one of you bring a medkit?”
He heard Lacey and Cotton’s conversation, and he turned to them briefly.
“Bailey sounds like someone too good for the Games. I’m sorry for your loss.” Felix said honestly. He thought back to Jasper. He was a good guy too. Different to Bailey, but a loss was a loss. And he could relate to Lacey and Cotton if only just a little.
“I guess they were one of the creations for this Game.” He responded to Cotton. “Thank you for saving us... But, why? Why did you save us? You could have left us there to die, left us there and just... Eliminated competition...” Felix figured there must be a reason. No one helped anyone in the Hunger Games without a reason.
He looked back at Coral.
“Tell me when you start to feel something.” He moved one hand up Coral’s back and another down from the area that had been hit. He was worried about how little she could feel.
