Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy Who Would Watch the World Burn
"Jaspar. Isolde. Take these." Two of the little microphones, and he gave one to Ember, and took one for himself. "Once again: Best. Sponsors. Ever."
Another deep breath, and Jan nodded to Ember. He had this. He could lie through his teeth better than anyone he knew. This was nothing. This was... ...Everything.
To others, maybe. The pact was for non-violence. Not for non-lying.
He was allowed to lie.
"Get Felix and Sassinak up the stairs, Coral." Make yourself useful for once.
Jan started to smooth down his jacket, and then stopped himself, shifting his eyes to the side before he pulled up the sleeve of his jacket and sliced into his own arm. It was a shallow cut, but deep enough to bleed. He'd deal with the cleaning and caring of it later.
The blood is wiped on his face with one hand. Enough to be gory but not enough to take away from the natural 'charm', the other hand messing up his hair in such a way that he looked like he'd been doing some vigorous "work", the arm of his jacket pulled down to hide the wound, and he lets his arm hang limply.
Lets the blood run down his fingers.
"Now we do you." The blood on both of his hands is rubbed together, and Jan grinned. Without a word, his eyes say it all. Play it up.
Just a little too close, even as he runs his bloodied fingers along Ember's cheek. Pushes her hair back, making sure to get blood in pieces and in strands of it. Like she'd gotten herself bloodied up taking out the others.
"So..." Jan smiled, and it most certainly couldn't be construed as 'innocent'. "...How do we look?"

As Lily added her own voice to the screams, genuine fear of the Careers serving to add a note of realism to her shrieks, she cut herself off as she retrieved the folder of documents on the Acid Rain that Coral had thankfully kept hold of and stashed it away in her backpack with the rest.
With armor equipped and medicine stowed away, Lily realized she still had the knife that Ember gave her from her own belt. For the elder girl to have not taken it back meant the one in the bag must as be good quality, but still... Ember and her group had helped them, gifted them with gear and supplies they could have used themselves and what were Lily and her group doing? Hiding away like scared mice... she felt ashamed. This was the agreed upon plan but it felt... wrong somehow.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” It was almost dawn. She’d have to leave soon. But It was almost what she wanted; what she told herself she wanted. A husband, children… yeah, maybe in a perfect world. And maybe not even then. Because her mother was right, bad blood was bad blood. And if didn’t matter what tree an apple fell from it if was rotten to the core to begin with. She couldn’t knowingly pass on whatever demon she had inherited from her parents. Still, when she told him about this he said he didn’t care; that he loved her anyway. The bitter laugh that escaped her lips was just a reflex. No one could love her. And all of his promises sounded good but in the end she couldn’t believe it. She couldn’t let herself believe it. Because if she did, if she could bring herself to feel for another human being, to open her heart again it would mean that her sister’s death had meant nothing.
But… But… he was so warm and she was so tired. And for the first time in a long time she could almost trick herself into believe that this was right.
It felt right.
He felt right.
Almost.
No, she couldn’t do this. She couldn’t fall like this. Whatever they were doing. It was just harmless fun. Nothing more.
“Where are you going?”
“Out.”
“Where?”
“Out.”
He didn’t stop her. He only frowned.
“This is last time isn’t it?”
“What are you talking about?”
“This… us… We’re over, aren’t we?”
“I dunno what you’re talkin’ about. We’re never a thing to begin with. This was just fun… and temporary.”
“So that’s it?”
“What? What do you want me to say? That I love you? That in a month, if we don’t get reaped and we’re finally free that we should get married? If you wanted that then go find one of those kind of girls. Because I’m not that. I’m not a wife, I can’t be a mother.”
When he got up and closed the distance between them she flinched, waiting for to him her, or bracing for the hit. Neither happened. Instead he cupped her face in his hands and brushed the hair from her face. They locked eyes and she had to tell herself that the tears welling in her eyes were just a reflex too.
“Ember Clay… I love you.”
She choked back a sob. “I… I love you, too.”
He smiled. “No, you don’t. But it means a lot that you’d say it. You’re not broken. And you’re not dead inside. And I’ll be here when you realize that.”
A tear rolled down her face and she kissed him. “No, you won’t,” she whispered. “But it means a lot that you’d say it.” Ember found herself face to face with Jan Colton. He was close. She wasn’t used to someone entering her physical bubble. Not like that. And especially not when she was covered in blood that wasn’t hers. She didn’t make a move to step back. But the laughter left her eyes and she watched Jan silently. It was only until he was done she flash a smile that mirrored Jan. “Perfect.” she replied. Hit Points: 19/21 Willpower: 5/6

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy Who Would Watch the World Burn
The microphone is put in his ear, and he tested.
"Izzy? Jazz? You can hear me? Tell them to make a few really pained sounds, and then we'll go outside."
There's a long look at Ember before he ruffles his own hair again. This time, with the bloodied fingers, before he wiped his hand on his jacket. Fisted it on the other sleeve... ...He wasn't an expert at this, but the bloodier and more crazed he looked? The better chance he had of selling this.
"Let's go do this." The bloodied knife wasn't resheathed. He needed it for effect, and he plastered that same smile he felt himself have in the Training room--the one he had when he was tearing that dummy to shreds--onto his face.
Crazed. That was the only word for that smile. Crazed and insane.
"Best way to tell a lie?" Jan winked at Ember. "Tell the whole damned truth."

The twilight was full of ambiguity. Looking outside in the lengthening shadows; any tribute who had grown up on watching Hunger Games knew that the Anthem ought to be playing. Let the career pack had come to call on the Wolf Pack and Felix's alliance and all of Panem held its breath in anticipation. The careers moved into the porch of the factory, denying the archer at the window a good view of them. Or any view of them as they moved up the stairs.
Any one downstairs heard a creak as they moved; but the careers avoided the windows. Glory helped Brass up the stairs and left him by the front door. The career reached out and tested the door; finding the door that Jan had just used unlocked. She placed herself before it; announcing. Bogart stood beside her; giving Brass a sidelong look. Brass heard only the creak of wood underfoot; the sounds of Coral, Sassinak and Felix's voices.
"This is where they will flee."
Victoria had checked the two windows that Coral and Ember had boarded over earlier. Any one in the factory heard the breaking glass and a orange torch crackling with flame was thrown in. It hit the floor by the back door, rolling underneath one of the wooden benches. A second lit torch was set underneath the back door; licking the wooden frame. The handle grew hot; it would be scalding to touch.
Those within quickly realized that the steel and wooden building could burn. There were four windows on each floor. There were two by the back door - one broken with a torch before it; one untouched. Ember and Coral had sealed the other two with wooden planks.
Upstairs; there was a window in each of the rooms - Security; where Isolde held vigil, Medicine - which was unlocked, Intelligence - which was unlocked - and the locked Plant Research room. One could technically go out a window with a rope; but Felix and Sassinak would need assistance.
Those inside the factory could not see the careers. Where were they? How long would the factory last? Could they extinguish the torch inside and the one outside on the back door?
Those outside were being convinced by Brass that the shouts from within were fake... that nine and twelve deserved to burn. The night was starting with a blaze.

Brass
Outside, Brass heard a low rumble of Victoria's whisper, far away at first but growing louder as she approached Glory and Brass.
"We set a torch outside the back door. We won't be able to go in that way, the door is locked."
"No movement on the ground floor yet. We expect them to run out here?"
"That or burn." Glory's voice.
"The smoke will take awhile to reach them if they're on the second floor. There's two windows on each side of the house. We'd never see them if they break out of the other doors." Victoria's voice becomes pricked with a tone not heard from her before.
"This whole... burning business. Its not very... sportsmanlike."
"Its the Games." Glory mocks. "Would it be better if they were devoured by pirranha?"
"Yes." Victoria replies calmly, her voice smooth. "They have one blind and one without a hand to grip a rope. If the others in thier alliance perish; they die without a chance. No weapon in thier hand. They go with a whimper. They wern't cowards. They don't deserve to smother to death."
Bogart scoffed. "They blinded Brass."
"All the more reason to face them honorably." Victoria answered. "I'll be honest. I've seen a way to scale up that roof, break into that building and likely strangle half of them to death. I thought about doing that to the sevens; if just to give them the respect of an honorable death. But I'm not going to."
Glory made a creative swear and Bogart shifted. Brass could feel the boy at his side. His breathing was quickening. Anger? Excitement? What was Bogart up to, moving so close to Brass? Was it that hero - worship again?
"They get spooked by the fire and run out here and we slaughter them." Glory declared. "Right, Brass?"
"It's a low blow. I'm pretty sure we're breaking the hell out of the alliance we had with nine and twelve." Victoria disagreed. "And the anthem hasn't played... the alliance is still on. So if you'll excuse me, I'm going to make my way into the city. The girl who knocked Jan cold is out there and I'd like to test her."
"Sounds good to me." Eclypse weighed in. "We're not breaking the alliance. Hook up with us after this business; if you want. But slaughtering the blind and maimed - when they had the brassness to take on Brass? That deserves more than a bonfire."
Theres a crunch of gravel as Victoria and Eclypse depart; true to thier word.
"They're really heading to the city." Glory noted. "Victoria sure seemed... noble; all of a sudden."
"She mentioned that the others could sneak out the other windows." Bogart reminded the two. "Someone should watch them."
"You want to?"
A shift in Bogart's stance. A catch of his breath.
"I think you'd be faster at catching them... I bet the little fives would go first."
"They're heading out." Isolde reported. "Wait... they're... heading to the hole that they cut in the fence. Victoria and Eclypse are leaving."
"Any sign of the others?" Jasper asked.
"No. They're still on the front porch." Isolde reported.
A low crackling noise sounded beneath their feet on the first floor. A glance below reveals the deep shadows are now laced with something orange and flickering. Those wearing the night vision goggles are reminded that sudden light would render them blinded briefly. Smoke whiffs up the stairs, lacing their noses with acidic smell of fire.
"We outnumber them now." Coral states. "We could attack them. Brass is blinded. Boomer and Lily- we never agreed to any non aggression pact. If you're willing; we could attempt to ambush Glory and Bogart. Killing Brass should be child's play."
"I can fire this bow." Sassinak whispered. "I'll take position on the top of the stairs and fire into them. Shouldn't we lure them inside? Only one or two can walk through that door at a time."
"This fire gives us a time limit." Isolde observed. "They may wait us out."
"Pretty cowardly for a career pack."
"We should see where the fire is." Jasper moved from his perch on the stairs, bow in hand and arrow held on the bowstring. He lowered his bow and stepped onto the stair. Felix heard the squeak of the step as the boy from twelve took several steps below.
"There's a torch here... they've broken a window. The air will fuel the fire." The boy looks towards Ember. "The fire will mess with the goggles. Don't look. I'll call on the communicator if I run into trouble."
Jasper moves out of sight; presumably towards the fire. Those upstairs can hear the crackling intensify as the fire searches out consumables.
"What do you think we should do?" Sassinak asked Felix.

As Sassinak opened up the canvas bag and produced what she described as a camouflage set, similar to the one that they had used at the station in the training centre, he smiled and nodded. “Perfect.” He smiled a little wider before waiting for Sassinak to announce what she had found. Her announcement caused Felix to feel an immense sense of delight. The mentors had pulled through and gotten her not one but two arms for the one that Brass had taken. He glowed with happiness, a grin huge and plastered across his face. “You guys... You’re amazing...” He said out to his mentors, who he knew would be watching and discussing their next moves. With a laugh, Felix heard Sassinak pull something else out. When she told him that their mentors had sent a helmet, he nodded, but as she adjusted the ear piece and told him about the note, Felix’s grin returned. The voice in his ear startled Felix a little, but then he literally choked in glee. “Woah...” He laughed out loud, and for the first time since he had entered the Arena, Felix felt genuinely happy. He took the note and 'looked' down at it, wondering if his new piece of equipment could read to him. And it all came crashing down when Coral told them that they should get on with the plan. With Sassinak’s squeeze, Felix opened his own mouth to cry, in a realistically fierce and protective tone that he had grown accustomed to, “Leave her, please! Sassinak, run!”*** “Th-they’re leaving?” Felix frowned, confused. Victoria and Eclypse had left, according to Isolde, while Brass, Glory and Bogart remained outside the door. With a small smile, Felix nodded, “The Career Pack is collapsing from the inside...” He said, before grinning. As the smoke reached his nose, Felix coughed, “Wait, what? Fire? Did they... Did they just set the Factory ablaze..?” Felix shook his head, “Brass... you’re an absolute-” Felix’s tongue ran off with every curse word and insult under the sun before groaning. “I think Jasper should have someone with him, in case they jump him.” Felix said when Sassinak asked his opinion, “And I think we need to find a safe way out of this place, before we all get served to Brass well done.” Felix was starting to panic, and it was clear in the tone of his voice. Fires weren’t something he enjoyed, at all.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” The cigar had gone out. Sometime between Jan bloodying them up and Ember getting lost in the memory and the torches coming through the windows, her cigar had extinguished itself. She swore, grumbling, clearly annoyed. Not scared, not cowering in fear. No. Ember Clay was perturbed. First, Felix gets blind. Then Sass loses her hand. Then Brass gets blinded (which looking back was more funny than emotionally trying). Then she had to heal him. And now this... Ember shook her head, her mouth making a "tsk-tsk" sound. Cowardly was a good word for what this was. Cowardly and not a part of their deal with Brass and Glory. Was Ember surprised? No. She always accepted the Careers to show their true colors eventually. What actually surprised her was that she almost thought it'd be Eclyspe that did it the backstabbing. She didn't think Glory and Brass would be the last one's standing. The goggled came up resting on her forehead as her gaze slowly drifted to the where the torch had landed. Ember looked down at her cigar and sighed, shaking her head. “Really? Really?... This isn't elegant or creative. I excepted better from them.” She walked over to the torch under the bench and inspected it, sighing once more before she put the cigar to her lips and lit her cigar with the torch. Ember put it back on the ground and with her free hand, she took her waterskin and used to douse the torch. She threw it back outside. And turned to Jan. “They're desperate,” Ember said. “And they broke our pact. Not the non-aggression one. They broke the only one that counts.” Ember knew that Jan would understood. It was only the first night of the games, but she knew he'd get it. So far he always did. Hit Points: 19/21 Willpower: 5/6

Brass Power, District 2 Male
"If they're still in there, they burn. They have ample time to get out, and if they do, the alliance is still on and we don't attack them. As is, we burn this building to the ground, and as I said before, we don't stick around. Too open, too prone to arrows, unless I'm misremembering this factory. Someone want to correct me. And Victoria, that would have been a wonderful thing to mention back at the horn during the planning stage of this. Burning was my idea, to get them to come out or burn in there, but I'm not so stupid as to shoot others down. Let's go then. Who cares further?" Brass muttered. No one seemed to be listening to him anyways.
Boomer District 5 Male
Fire... But a building this size would take time to burn. And that torch wasn't exactly causing a wildfire in the building. He looked from Sassinak to Felix to Lily. "Don't panic... unless there's something explosive to ignite, and I doubt there is, we don't have to worry. The building isn't going to flash fire, we have time to get out and leave by another door..."
The last bit was directed at Lily more than the others.

"I hate when all my hard work goes to waste. P***es me off, to be quite honest."
There's a smirk as Ember puts out the torch and throws it back out the broken window. Apparently they did think that they were all complete back-births.
"And I agree with you. All bets are off now, Sunshine. They broke our deal first." We face each other armed and aware. "It'll take a little time for that torch at the door to catch completely the way the one inside was. Best to get upstairs and get our people out of here."
And Ember knew who he meant. Jaspar. Isolde. Get them out of here and get someplace they could fortify. Or they could start hunting.
"This place is big. It's not going to go up like a hay-loft. We have time. We just have to play it smart...and we have rope enough to repel down from those windows if need be."

Brass"The burning of the factory was your idea." Bogart pointed out to Brass. "It was the only vote for it. Victoria didn't seem to care for it." A snort of derision for Victoria's 'morals. "Eclypse did a rather poor job of it, too. Two torches. Tell you what. Glory; do you want to scout ahead and keep an eye on any escapees from above? Brass, I have a lighter. We can make sure these kids get really burned getting out if you want to tell me where to place stuff. I got some of the extra clothes; they would make great kindling." Bogart proposed. There's a sudden catch to Bogart's voice. "Someone's down stairs..""Brass. Come here." Glory suggests, taking Brass' arm. She begins to walk with Brass away from the factory. "We can head out now, if you want to. Hook up with Victoria and -" A jungle cat yowl cuts out from the jungle...Bogart used the sound to open the downstairs door... Factory"So... you want to go out the door?" Coral asked Lily and Boomer. "We match them, now. Lily; I saw the work you did on Brass' foot. You're fast. You have a better knife now. I think we could make a good stand." Coral leaned into Lily, encouraging. "Think of what the sponsors would think."An octave lower; just for the Game makers to discreetly edit out. "Out the window?" Sassinak nodded. "I like that plan. Someone should go first to untie Felix... and I'd like to go with him. I can hold us to the rope if someone makes a harness and lowers us down."She glances towards the stairs. A jungle cat yowl cuts out from the jungle...Below; Bogart had opened the door with the sound of the cat yowling; discreetly covering his entrance. Jasper, bow in hand, had been using the edge of his bow to roll out the torch from beneath the bench. The torch comes out and Jasper stomps on it, sending embers flying. Bogart moves behind the boy; lunging forward. His arm flings at Jasper's throat. The boy from 11 catches the thinner boy from twelve as he turns, causing Jasper to collapse on the floor; wheezing. His eyes flutter. He may be fading into unconsciousness. Bogart rolled 9 dice to "Haymaker to Jasper" 6,7,7,10,1,2,3,4,5,3 (1 successes) Bogart stepped back to the door; listening for Glory and Brass. Glory was still turned towards Brass, leading him away from the factory. Bogart lifted his eyes; wondering if there were archers up there that would go against his alliance. Glory glanced upwards; catching the glint of movement in the window. She pulls Brass's arm sharply in an irregular direction; breaking up the straight line that would make an easy shot for an archer.

"They're going to either smoke us out or burn us alive? Cowards!" Lily hissed angrily, Ember's knife leaping into Lily's hand with rage. What kind of Careers were these? In all the footage of the Games she'd seen no Career had acted so low.
"If you want to ambush them I'm with you Coral, but we leave Brass for Felix to kill."
Lily raised a half-admiring, half-envious eyebrow at the goodies sent by Rory and co to the Sevens. The Mentors had indeed outdone themselves with that small bounty considering the condition their tributes were in. She wished she had someone in her life who would go to those lengths for her...
"This knife isn't for throwing." Lily reminded Coral. "I don't know how I'd compare to a Career in close combat, but if it comes down to it I'm not going to stand there and be slaughtered like some animal."
Lily however conceded that Coral had a good point about sponsors though... what exactly was taking out a Career worth?

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” Something wasn't right. Ember didn't know how she knew. But she could feel it in her bones. Something wasn't right. In fact something was very, very wrong about this. Too easy. It was all too easy. There was a sound in her earpiece and she looked at Jan. No, this was all wrong. Ember put out her cigar and caught Jan's attention. She pointed to her eyes and then down the way Jasper had gone. She then pointed to Jan and tapped her back. She wanted him near her. She felt safer, somehow with them right there. She couldn't explain it but there it was. Ember kept to the shadows as she walked toward the back door, with her brand new knife out and held in her left hand. No more hiding. No more running. Sister for the next few moments... Don't watch... Please... "You won't be alone." Coral assured Lily. "I'll stay with you. We may be smaller than they are, but we hurt Brass. Hell, Sass blinded him one - handed." A smile to Sassinak.
"We can do this. Don't take unnecessary risks. Not sure if Jan and crew will be helping us or not... but we'll be there for each other." A glance towards Boomer. "Will your partner come?"
"Be careful." Sassinak implored. She had picked up her bow and notched an arrow; facing the door. She was prepared to defend herself and Felix.
"You'll be seeing us again." Coral stated confidently. "We'll come back for you. And if we don't; its because we can't. You should head out the window if that happens. Either way; its been good."
"Jan," Isolde spoke in the head sets to Jasper, Ember and Jan. "Coral and Lily are coming down. I see Brass and Glory heading away from the factory. They're moving evasively..."

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy Who Would Watch the World BurnJan nodded, sticking close to Ember's back and watching theirs'. He'd heard nothing himself, but there was definitely a shift in the air, and if she thought something was wrong, then she was likely very right. Something was probably wrong. He wasn't as quiet as she was, but Jan managed to keep his feet light this time around. Something he'd have to maybe work on in the very near future, assuming he survived this. Jan, so far as he could see, had a very, very good chance at making it through this whole mess. I need to know...It was time to start playing The Game. "If you want to stay up here Boomer, or even run with the others, I won't hold it against you." Lily smiled at her district mate. If he didn't want to fight, his presence downstairs would only be a liability anyway. "For the record, you will be seeing me again. If anyone is going to die in this building it's going to be a Career." Lily winked, the false bravado taking the edge off the mounting tension. Lily nodded to Coral determinedly, heading cautiously down the stairs with her, the light on her headlamp cutting through the darkness as she did so. In her left hand was her combat weapon, while a throwing weapon was poised in her right ready to be hurled at anything unfriendly that moved. As more and more of the downstairs became available to her eyes, she swept the room with the light looking for the presence of anyone that would serve as a fleshy target for her knives. Lily Zelle rolled 6 dice to "Perception" 9,3,4,7,6,10,5 (2 successes)

Brass moved with Glory. It had been his idea. It had also been his idea to move on to the city after setting the fire. He turned his head toward Bogart and nodded, then dropped his voice to Glory. "We move on to the city. Ambush here is a bad idea. Inside they have advantage of home turf, and numbers now. In the city we can lay low and set our own ambush where we have the advantage."
He nodded again. "To the city, meet up with Victoria and Eclypse. Maybe they'll talk before we walk to our destination next time."
Boomer, District 2 Male
He shook his head to the offer to go downstairs. He wasn't a fighter, he'd just get in the way. "Huh uh... but.. if you need me, call for me. I ain't goin' nowhere without you."
He looked to Felix and Sassinak. "I'll help you where you need to go... Or whatever."

Everything was happening so fast, and Felix’s new toy was screaming descriptions in his ear as people moved by. The headpiece was a truly amazing piece of equipment, and he was very thankful for it. With his baseball bat in his hand, Felix used it as a crutch as he moved slowly across the room, his severely damaged leg trailing behind him. Putting weight on it was not an option; it hurt so much that he’d collapse if he tried too much.
He heard Coral and Lily, his headgear telling him exactly where they were, and he stood next to the female with the false arm and bow, Sassinak. He was also told that Bogart was in the room.
“You’re coming back, Coral. You too, Lily.” Even though he hated to admit it to himself, he cared more for the safety of the two girls than that of Jan, Ember and their district mates. The makeshift alliance had a large gap, one that had been only momentarily bridged. Now would be the time where they split, and Felix was ready to take his alliance to safety, even if it meant jeopardising that of the others.
When they left, Felix’s clenched his teeth and moved over to the window. He looked down, waiting for the earpiece to tell him how high the drop would be, before turning back. “Sass, Boomer. Start working on a way to get us down. Boomer, you’ll go first to make sure Sass and I will be ok if we fall or something bad happens. We need to be ready for the worst; if Lily and Coral don’t make it back, I’m not having either of you two die on me.”
With a grunt, Felix shifted his weight, “We need to make something that will keep us secure on the rope... Isolde, where’s the bag with the gear in it?” Felix called out to the other girl stationed in the room. He would keep her safe, too, in a worst case scenario. But Sass and Boomer came first.

BrassGlory nodded her head; then remembered that Brass couldn't see her. "Lets head to the city. The anthem will be starting shortly; once the outcome of the fire sorts itself out; I imagine. Then we'll know whose still viable." Glory's hand on Brass's arm moves up towards his arm pit. "No disrespect Brass; but they took plenty of ranged weapons when they left. I'd like to carry you towards the city; if that's all right with you. " "Fine by me. Best to move quickly, and running without tripping isn't exactly in my reptoire right now."A turn of her head; a raised voice as she searches for Bogart. Glory was apathetic towards the other boy. Either he would come and join them; or he wouldn't. She was well aware that the doorway would limit the fighting mobility - If he'd chosen to go in; that was on him. "Bogart!" More quietly to Brass, she mentions. "He's opened the door to the factory. Oh, I see him at the doorway; trying to appear menacing."Glory made a quick 'come here' wave to Bogart. She would not announce plans where the other tributes could hear her. Glory rolled 5 dice to "Carrying Brass to the city" 7,5,8,3,4 (1 successes) Glory was not as strong as Victoria; but she hefted Brass into a fire man's carry and shifted to a zig - zagging jog towards the ruined city. She was not exerting herself fully - if a threat appeared; she was keeping some energy on reserve. Factory: Second Floor Upstairs with Boomer, Sassinak and FelixIsolde reported again; having not received an answer from Jan earlier. "Glory and Brass are headed away from us." She shouldered her bow and pushed off from the window, passing Sassinak, Felix and Boomer; who easily heard her transmission. "I'm coming down."Isolde picked up the gear bag and handed it to Felix. She hadn't heard any advice to hold any thing back from the sevens. If anything, the alliance had been generous. "Rope." She offered; pulling it out of the bag and handing it to Felix. "Good luck, every one."The archer headed to the stair case. "Thank you." Sassinak said to her departing back. Felix heard Closed Window - twenty foot descent. Male and female departing at twenty feet distance. Sassinak glanced towards Boomer for a moment. She frowns; but remains quiet. The girl from seven looks over the window sill. "Brass and Glory are heading away. I think we can get started."She looks about the room, finding the door knob. She ties one end of Felix's rope to it, leading it out to the window and tossing it below. "It might be a little close at the end... but I can climb down with Felix. "Factory: First FloorEmber and Jan moved through the shadow strewn factory. Three benches were lined in neat rows; each overflowing with gear and components. If one had time; they could likely fashion fantastic materials here. Yet the odd shapes also played tricks on the eyes - the glint of that metal can caught Ember's eye. A passing shadow through a glass jat half filled with nails caught her attention next. The form of a person was there. Pausing behind the cover of the bench; she could lean out and catch sight of the brawler of district eleven. He was just a shadow of black against the twilight of the open door; but he crouched down quickly; bringing his arm down suddenly with violence. Another black form was on the floor made a cut off cry and Bogart made a quick motion over it. Was it Jasper? What was Bogart doing to him? The noise was strangled off with a sickening gurgle and you have a dreadful feeling that the life had been choked out of whoever was on that floor. BOOMBogart remained crouched on the floor; drawing cover from a nearby bench. To get a clear knife throw; one would have to move a foot to the left; which would cause them to lose thier own cover from the nearby bench. Coral had crept down the stairs and caught side of two moving figures; she hoped were Ember and Jan. Coral moved around the stair case; paralleling Jan's movements; five steps or so behind him. The noose was closing around Bogart; if he chose not to choose the open door at his back. The archer descended the staircase, pausing mid way to crouch and bring up her bow. She liked the higher ground. She disliked the darkness of this lower level. Now Jan and Ember were on the left side of the stair case, looking forward at the front door and Bogart, who has cover of a bench. Jan and Ember also can crouch behind the bench before them for cover. Coral is on the right side; five feet behind Jan. Isolde is crouched on the stair case; bow at the ready.

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” BOOM!
She didn’t hear anything after that. Not the announcer heralding Diadem’s victory. Not her father’s voice trying to sooth her. Not the murmurs of everyone around her; everyone that had been watching. All Ember heard was her sister’s voice ringing in her head. All she could see was her blood still cooling on the ground. Cinder was gone. And something inside Ember had died. Cinder Clay had represented everything that was good in the world. So long as she was alive there had been a goal; to make the world a better place for Cinder’s future family.
That hope died when Cinder did.
And now Ember was rudderless. There were no words for what Ember was feeling. If she there had been a part of her that didn’t want to kill Bogart it was silenced the moment the canon blast herald her district partner’s death. Grumpy… no… No one deserved to die like that. No one. Jasper should have went down fighting. Everyone deserved at least that; to go down with a weapon in hand, to meet death with a grin. It was the honorable thing to do. Something Ember wanted to give each of her victims. But Bogart apparently was a different kind of animal. Her hand gripped her knife tightly to the point of pain. And she pushed down the tears that threatened to obscure her vision. Bogart must die. That’s what she kept telling herself as she moved quietly to behind the bench. She point to the other side of the bench. If they could flank the big man he’d might go down. Ember Clay rolled 6 dice to "Wits+Stealth" 6,6,8,5,8,7 (2 successes) Ember Clay rolled 8 dice to "Res+Comp+2" 6,7,5,4,10,2,3,5,9 (2 successes) Hit Points: 19/21 Willpower: 4/6

Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy Who Would Watch the World BurnHow many times had he heard that cannon over the past year?
He knew what it meant. He knew when he was almost weekly forced to watch his twin brother die on camera again and again and again....he knew.
He hated it, but at the same time became numb to it. Seeing it so many times, it was like it was unreal. Jan just knew that Jace was safely sleeping out in the Barley Field now, and nothing could hurt him anymore.
Jan was numb enough that he didn't flinch this time, hearing the cannon. Didn't flinch or wince or anything he normally did.... ...But he did know.
This year, he had to know what it was like, even if it cost him his life, he had to know...
...It was a physical need, because without knowing, he couldn't live. He needed to look death in the face with nothing but a knife in his hand, and the knowledge that he was very likely to die. Dead. Bogart was dead. He was walking. Talking. Breathing... ...But he was dead. Slowly. Jan felt the life bleed out of his eyes. The artificial warmth that everyone seemed to eat up in the Capitol. They were in love with him. In love with the Boy from District 9, who'd Volunteered for the Games in memoriam to his Dead Twin Brother: Jace Colton; The Noble Tragedy of Panem. Absolute Zero replaced it. Jaspar had been a good guy. Quiet. Brooding. But good. He didn't deserve to die like that. He'd been a good guy who'd kept his word, and he didn't deserve to go out like that. Bogart was dead. But Bogart was gonna hurt before they killed him, regardless of Felix and the rest of them said. He was sure Ember would agree. Ember would get the kill. But Jan was going to make the little bastard hurt for what he'd done to Kingston. For what he'd just done to Jaspar. He tapped Ember's shoulder and nod. Let her see. Let her see the burning cold that really resided within him. Let her see his true intentions and reasons for joining this Game of theirs'. Love Me, and then choke on it.And it was time.

BOOM! The sound caused Felix to tip over a little, and he had to use the wall to stand up straight. Coral. Lily. Headshots of both girls flashed in front of his blind eyes as Felix swallowed hard. He didn’t know who had been killed, and there was no way other than going downstairs to find out. That wasn’t going to happen. “Sass?” He looked across and he felt relief wash through his as his earpiece chirped her description. She hadn’t been ambushed, which was definitely good. But what about Coral and Lily? Felix bit his tongue, “Boomer, work on that escape rope as fast as you can.” He grunted as he put a little too much weight on his bad leg. “No Isolde to find out who got hurt. frell” Felix swore as he pointed to the staircase. “Aim there, Sass. Fire if you so much as think they’re unfriendly.” Felix picked up the axe, which took a little bit of finding, that Ember had given him, and squeezed the handle tightly. “Two more cannon shots and we leave.” Felix said bluntly.

The shadowy form stood and moved quickly towards the back door. "Bogart!"[/color was heard and perhaps roused Bogart from his murderous intent. The black form on the ground remained still and unmoving. The cannon fire signalled that Bogart had killed someone a moment ago; most likely Ember's district partner. The gloom was far too dark to pierce. Bogart stepped out of the doorway and side stepped out of sight of those within the building
To those watching on the screens across Panem; Bogart loosened an arm and pressed himself flush against the wall of the building. Someone walking out of the doorway was in for his strong arm.
[ I need to know where your character is going specifically in this next post as Bogart is preparing an action tied to a specific locale. Exits: One person could exit the doorway Could remove the boards that Ember and Coral nailed in place and exit via a window Could extinguish the fire at the back door and unlock the door [ which would be one full post. They could then pursue Bogart. Let me know if you need more clarification]

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire” She was better than Bogart. Maybe not a better fighter. Ember was okay. But Bogart was built for a fight she couldn't take him up close. That meant she needed to cripple him from afar. And for that she needed a bow. Grumpy doesn't need his bow anymore. The thought was wrong. He was supposed to be here. He should be here. Why wasn't he here with her? She moved to where his body was. If his eyes were open, she'd close them, bring her fingers to her lips and give her district's salute. Sister, you take care of this one. He was one of mine. Ember's hands gripped his bow. She looked at Jan, notching an arrow. She didn't say anything but her eyes held a gentle warning. “If you die, I will kill you.”“Bogart, you ****in' coward...” she whispered. “You die tonight.” For, Grumpy.... Ember aimed at the door. Jan Colton; District 9's Volunteer: The Boy Who Would Watch the World Burn He couldn't have gotten far. There was no way Bogart was getting away. Not after killing Jaspar, and this was the only way to do this. Someone was going to have to do something, because standing around and watching someone who could have been--in another life--his friend, die because they'd waited. No. "I'm going out." Jan rubbed his hands together, and then took the newly gifted knife in his right hand, and one of the throwing daggers from his bandolier in his left. There's a long look at Ember, and he was sure she'd watch his back. He just needed to get Bogart someplace out in the open, and for that, he had to... ...Take off at a dead run out the open door. 2013-01-03 04:03:17 Jan Colton rolled 5 dice to "Dex + Athletics (Speed 11)" 3,4,9,2,4 (1 successes) Hit Points: 19/21 Willpower: 3/4
