Anna Marie: Rogue “I could spit on him, if I wasn't a lady.” Rogue didn't want to be back there, but there was no way she was going to be missing out on an X-Men mission. She missed out on plenty of those because Logan was too protective of her, or she'd been manipulated by people. Including that one person who was now taking her identity. “Stop talkin' all fancy. I don't talk like that-” Rogue said into the communicator before she hesitated, looking between Storm and Devon, “I don't talk like that, do I?” She frowned a little, “And don't talk so much neither.”She looked at Riley, and then Storm, when she heard that Riley would be going in again. “Good luck.” She said to Riley and Devon. She focused her attention back to the communicator, “When I was in there they told me somethin' about the cure not workin' right. Ask 'em about that. Ask 'em if I should be expectin' my powers to be comin' back.” This was more Rogue's own curiosity, but it would help ascertain Mystique's façade, no matter how much Rogue hated the woman taking on her identity even for the sake of a mission.

I knew Rogue had always struggled with her powers, or more precisely the side-effects of such. From the moment this 'cure' was formulated, I knew it would be all-but irresistible to her, to finally allow her some human contact without the nasty repercussions she was now quite used to.
The prospect of her powers returning would not be as welcome to her as they were to me, that's for sure...
Since the real Rogue was nearby, I got an idea to exit the compound and let HER reenter in my place if that's what she wanted to do. I'd also then be able to talk freely and brief everyone, and probably reenter WITH Rogue as another of her 'friends'.
Rogue had told me exactly what I'd wanted to know over comms, but even so – She probably felt left out on X-men missions since her decision to abandon her mutanthood membership. It was only right to give my daughter a shot at this mission, since it clearly revolved around herself specifically.
At the last second I caught myself, hoping Lacy hadn't picked up on the whole 'daughter' thing that had welled up to the forefront of my mind before I buried it again – That was a secret best told at the right time, and this most-definitely was NOT it.
“I heard someone talking about the cure being flawed – D'ya know if my mutant ability's likely to return? - Hold on...” I pretended my cell had just rung, and extracted one from a pocket to answer it. Of course, THIS cell was merely an extension of my hand created by my abilities; a mockup, non-functional due to having no mechanical substance within it. I held this to my ear and mimicked a short conversation.
“That was Riley, she's on her way here with another friend or two. I'll go meet them, see you in a bit.” As I turned to exit the building, I sent a thought to Lacy:
<I don't sense any immediate danger here, I'm sure you can take over in my absence. The real Rogue may be joining us, and if so I obviously can't use her form at the same time, so keep that in mind when 'Rogue' gets back ok?>
I left the building and rushed to intercept Riley and Devon. When I was far enough away from the building not to be seen by any of its occupants or CCTV cameras I demorphed to my usual form.
“Just a moment, girls.” I greeted them, then spoke into my communicator; “Storm? I had an idea – Would the real Rogue like to join us on this mission? If she joins us, I can go back in as someone else or otherwise redeploy how you and Beast see fit. Shade and Lacy don't appear to be in any danger in the lobby – Lacy would know if the receptionist posed any threat anyway.” I stood with Devon and Riley awaiting a response from Storm/Rogue/Beast, whoever hit their PTT first.

"Have you ever listened to someone? Not just, like, heard them, but actually listened to someone? You see, I do listen to people. I listen so deep that I hear their thoughts, and once I do that... Well, I find what makes them tick and light a fire underneath that. It's such a thrill to watch someone explode with emotions that I've engorged. You should try it sometime." Lacy smiled and nodded with each tidbit of information the receptionist dropped. She also kept skimming through Emily's surface thoughts, not feeling comfortable invading the woman's privacy further. Lacy wanted to know just who this dangerous 'he' was, and knew that asking outright would possibly be... uncouth at best. But if Emily were talking about 'him' she must be thinking about 'him' as well. Lacy's face took on a secretive and conspiratorial hush, and a small smile with a little nod as well. She could keep secrets, and her face read just like that, even with a touch of disappointment as Emily is called away by the buzzing phone. Lacy kept a lock on the girl's mind anyway. She smiled at Mystique's fake phone conversation, nodding as she left the area before looking back to Shade. "There's definitely more to be learned from the receptionist and she's a gabby Cathy. I can keep a link to her mind at this distance, though it might become tenuous further in. The flipside, however, is that if we head further in under the guise of 'guests' we might find someone with even more information to glean. Information from the source rather than information from the water cooler." Lacy kept her voice low and barely above a whisper that would drift past her and Shade. She paused for a moment, concentrating on picking out Emily's thoughts before continuing once she was satisfied that she was still picking them up. "What do you think? Wait for Mystique and the receptionist to return or head on with our self-guided tour?"

The receptionist returned, noting the changes in the group with a mild nod.
"I'm going to go and see how Sara and Jeff are getting along. If you want to come meet two of our subscribers, you're free to come along..."
The receptionist led whoever was interested past the receptionists' office and into a hall. You pass two locked doors that require key cards to access. She leads you to two open double doors into a cafeteria. Two teenagers about 17 - 18 were in the room, a blonde young woman eating a chicken salad and a young man eating a cheeseburger. Riley would recognize the blonde as the one who participated willingly in the test earlier that day. Neither of these people have restraints or trackers that you can see.
"Hi." The woman states, looking over. "Who are you? I'm Sara." She looks to the receptionist.
"Are they staying?"
"Its complicated." The receptionist stated. "They said they wanted to go and then they came back."

Shade: Shadow Dancer“We are not defined by the family into which we are born, but the one we choose and create. We are not born, we become." Did she just...leave? Shade's eyes narrowed behind the goggles he was wearing, fingers clenching a bit as he looked between Lacy and the receptionist. That woman walked them in and then left them here. What sort of sick joke was this? Shade swallowed, his shoulders so that he stood straight-if-not-tall. He was more than a little annoyed right now, and someone would be getting an earful when-slash-if they made it back to the school. Turning around and walking out? Unacceptable. And 'said he wanted to go and then came back'? What the hell did that mean? He hadn't been here willingly ever, and never would be. Regardless of the reason and whether these people were here willingly or not? This was sick. "I was never here." What? Did all mutants look alike to this normal?

"Oh, you're right." The receptionist realized. "I'm sorry. Rogue was here...and I believe we had you at the Laboratory. If any of you wish to fill out a statement, someone has been arrested the laboratory for kidnapping and ..well, I forget the exact charges. Jimmy and Priya have made statements to the police and if you would like to, we could call the detective."
The receptionist pulls out a business card for the detective in question. She stepped back towards the door.
"I'll leave you to visit. I'll be in the hall if you would like to continue to the training rooms."
"Were you one of the guys who were taken off the street?" Sara wondered, looking between Shade and Lacey. "One of the government groups actually grabbed us. Look." She pulls up her sleeve, showing a pink surgical scar. "They actually shot me. This place pulled me out of a van. I mean... the lab wasn't fun but no one shot us."
You recall how Jimmy stated that Sara and her friend - and another person - had complied with the testing and had not been restrained or drugged.

Magneto: Wrath filled Survivor Those wars are unjust which are undertaken without provocation. For only a war waged for revenge or defense can be just.- Cicero Magneto had been quiet. He had not spoken to devon only given her a soft nod of the head, Now was not the time that he could let his personal feelings affect him, not in the field and not in front of people he barely knew. He had to be the Rock, the warlord that his people needed. Let storm, let beast be the peaceful face, let them be the Velvet glove. He knew the power that he brought to the team, knew that his resolve was needed. Someone had to be willing to do what needed to be done. He let his power reach out, let it wrap and coat itself around every piece of metal he could find, let it stretch and flex itself. Every time he used it, every time he pushed the power to its limits it came back stronger. He was still far from his best but every time he used it he could feel it returning like muscles finally rebuilding after too long unused. He frowned listening to the reports that Storm received. It didn't take government backing to make a group an enemy of his people and the road to hell was paved with good intentions. He did not trust this group, this whole thing stunk far too much of Dr Mengele. For now he simply stood and let his power seep out into the very walls and foundations of this building, into every nail and bolt, every bar and metal sheet. Waiting to hear what was truly happening and to react appropriately.

His fingers clenched. So they did all look the same to 'normals'. At least, until one of them threw up a flag saying 'I'm not who you think I am', and then they look at a file and see that they in fact made a mistake. Idiots. Shade swallowed, blinking flat black eyes behind those goggles. He could file a report, but he was technically and quite legally dead. It was a hard truth, and he could decide to come out of the box as 'not dead', and having been living on the streets because his parents couldn't handle having a mutant son, or he could live and let live. Ruin his parents and stop this atrocity? Or live and let live, and get on with his life? It was a hard decision. "I have to think about it. I don't trust the police." And he didn't much care to see the inside of this place. When the receptionist left, Shade looked back to the other two. "They hit me with bright lights and yes--took me in off the street against my will. They kept me restrained, took my blood without my permission, and injected me with...something without my permission that I still don't know what it will do to me. So yes: They took me off the street."
And calling in a detective to take his statement wasn't going to fix that. He just knew he wasn't going to be playing 'lab rat' ever again.

The girl nodded, looking annoyed.
"That guy was a real pig. He strapped us down and called us by numbers. I forget mine..." She leaned back as though thinking.
"But I played along and they unstrapped us." She indicated the boy with her. "And Janie. But the others..." A touch of emotion flickered in those eyes. Worry? Guilt?
"They were pretty awful. Priya was grabbed with us and they made her wear a collar to help control us. Janie was really nasty to them." A small smile. Smug. Getting one over on the man?
"But they couldn't pin it to her because you know..invisible... I think she's the one who got that pig in trouble. The lady scientists really didn't like...a lot of things I think."
"But we're out." The male pointed out. "Of that hell hole. This place is better. No tables, no drugs and we can leave whenever we want to."
Lacey might get a better read if she looks in there

Ororo Munroe “Storm”: The Weather Witch “You counter despair with hope. You strive forever for the best you are capable to be. Therein lies the victory.”
“Rogue do you mind joining Devon and Riley?” Storm asked, making sure that she hadn't spoken into the comm. “I'm recalling Mystique so you'll be taking control of that portion of the mission. You are the senior member here, Rogue. Be the leader I know you can be.” Then she spoke into communicator so all could hear her. “Mystique, Rogue will be replacing you. You are to report back to me. “Lacy or Shade if you can hear me, stall. I'm sending three more to join you inside.” Devon: The Wounded Healer “Something happens when I heal someone. It's not just their wounds I absorb, it's their pain too. I take in that pain, I experience that hurt. Their wounds become my wounds. Their emotional anguish too. I experience their injuries as if they were my own. And yes, it hurts more than you can possibly imagine. So why do I keep doing it? I do it because maybe one day it'll free me. You don't know what it's like to skate so close to death, so close to being free only to be slammed back into reality. I heal people so that maybe one of the injuries'll be something I can't come back from...” Devon almost smirked at Storm's words. She pushed down those feelings. They had no place here. Instead she nodded respectfully at Mystique. “Well, good night to you, Mystique. I'll wait for Rogue before we go inside.”

It was alright to be explosive sometimes, but right now... well, it might get them caught and tossed out or worse. And for the moment, as the others chattered, she was content to stand and listen to their banter, and delve their minds slightly.

I couldn't easily tell whether Rogue had any real choice in the matter, but given the way that Storm answered for her she'd probably been 'persuaded'.
“Acknowledged. On my way.” I replied over comms. It was fairly evident to me that Storm hadn't agreed with Beast's decision to send me in as the only senior member of the infiltration team. I'm sure she would have had someone else go along, either as well as or instead of me.
I was disappointed that I wouldn't be going back into the compound in any form. That, plus not looking forward to another face-to-face with someone who actively disliked me as much as Storm did, may have shown slightly in my expression as I listened to Devon addressing me.
“Night? It's the middle of the afternoon! I'm sure we'll meet again before the day is through – Unless you know something I don't?” I replied with respectful intonation, genuinely confused by her saying goodnight to me this early in the day, rather than making fun of anyone.
“And you must be Riley, right? If Rogue likes you, that's good enough for me.” I offered a friendly handshake. “I look forward to meeting you properly after the mission. Until then, duty calls!” I smiled and rolled my eyes a little at that last part, making it obvious I'd rather be going back in with them than report to Storm. Nevertheless, I'd make an effort to fit in with the X-men and try not to 'rock the boat' too much.
“I'll make sure Rogue's heading in the right direction to meet up with you before going in. I hope I don't miss anything TOO interesting in there!” I gave a friendly wave farewell as I left in the direction of the X-wing.

Devon: The Wounded Healer “Something happens when I heal someone. I heal people so that maybe one of the injuries'll be something I can't come back from...” “When you've spent most of your life in an underground cage, you tend to mix up day and night...” Devon fired back. Raven's tone may have been respectful, but Devon didn't take her words to be respectful at all. The opposite in fact. Or perhaps maybe she was just looking for a reason to dislike Raven. After all, besides Shade, Magneto was the only person she had ever felt a remote connection to. And Raven had never said anything nice about the man. Trashing her would-be mentor was wearing on her nerves. Devon's eyes narrowed. “And that little eye roll is the reason I'm glad you're not coming with us. Duty calls? What do you know of duty? From what I've seen thus far you've only acted in your own self interests. Magneto, that man that you've shown not a single ounce of respect to is working for the betterment and protection of our people. All you've done is pout when you don't get your way.” Devon's tone was neutral. But it was really Mystique's professionalism that was started to wear down her patience. Devon knew what it was like to be housed in a place like this; to be made to do things with your gifts you never wanted to wish upon your worst enemy. She was made to harm, to kill, to go against everything she had come to believe in. The experience changed her. Made her harder, stronger perhaps. But it also broken something inside Devon. The sweet girl had died in a mad scientist's lab. What turned away from the group and headed into the facility was something else. Something that could harm, kill without a second thought. Especially if it meant her people living without fear. Ororo Munroe “Storm”: The Weather Witch “You counter despair with hope. You strive forever for the best you are capable to be. Therein lies the victory.” “Mystique, thank you from joining me.” Storm greeted when Raven came in. Storm turned to Rogue. “Rogue, go ahead before the others get too far ahead of you.”

Anna Marie: Rogue “I could spit on him, if I wasn't a lady.” Rogue didn’t really understand what was going on. All of a sudden, Mystique had left the facility and was asking if Rogue wanted to return. She was hesitant at first, and she looked at Storm warily. The woman’s reassuring words choked Rogue up a little. She didn’t consider herself a leader of anything. Senior member or not, she was just... Rogue. But she nodded slowly, “Okay. I’ll go.” She agreed. The girl watched Mystique board the X-Wing and greeted her with a small and hesitant smile. She looked at Storm again, one last time for reassurance, before exiting to go and meet Devon and Riley. “Hello.” She said, feeling suddenly awkward and very aware of herself, “Shall we go in?” She asked the pair. There was no way she was a natural leader, but Storm had made her feel just a little more confident than she would have been had she just stepped off the X-Wing and marched over to the other two. “If you’re both ready.”

A few moments before
Beast noticed a lack of response from his student. Noticing Mystique moving from the building back towards the X - wing, Beast frowned. He knew that Storm and Mystique were not on the best of terms. He could only imagine what the response would be to pulling Mystique out of the building.
"Hm." Beast mused, turning in place to look at Mystique's parting back as she walked towards the x - wing.
"I wonder whats going on. Rogue, perhaps you could wait here a moment?"
A moment ago Inside the Xwing
Beast stepped into the x - wing and glanced between Storm and Mystique. He was distracted from his original intent to mediate between the two women if necessary by the sound of the radar.
"Could be return helicopters." Beast proposed. He frowned as the third image was clearly a small plane, likely a biplane from the read out.
"There's no run way here. It certainly doesn't belong to the outpost here." He glanced to Storm with concern. "Two helicopters and a plane are headed for us and this facility. What could this be?"
NOW
Beast frowned, making a note to speak to Mystique. The X- Men were largely friendly and accepting of ideas, but Storm was the leader.
"Mystique, could we speak in a moment? After I gather the others." Beast nodded to Storm.
"At once."
A gentle hand was placed on Devon's arm. "Something has changed, Devon. There's someone incoming in aircraft. We are taking off in the X - wing. Go and get strapped in. We'll have a debrief to determine whats happened."
Beast walked outside to where Rogue has waited.
"Marie, there's been a change of plans. We are taking off in the X - wing. Go and get strapped in."
Beast looked past Rogue at the facility.
"I'll get the others. Thank you for volunteering, but it looks like you're off the hook." A smile at Marie. How was she holding up? It has been a trying day for her. Beast worried.
He felt as though he should go and get the others, but he was loathe to leave Marie by herself. Walking into the complex itself could also throw off whatever Shade and Lacy were working inside. Beast decided to try a verbal collection attempt and remain beside Rogue.
Into his comm, Beast spoke:
"Wolverine. Havoc. Lacy. Shade. We are withdrawing. Come rendezvous at the X - wing."

The cafeteria:
As Sara's question hung in the air, the teenagers noticed two black clad men carrying guns rush from the closed room out towards the receptionists' lobby. They took position on either side of the receptionist' doors. Four identically clad men ran the opposite way towards the helicopter pad.
"Sara. Every one." A woman wearing a white lab coat and a fine amber sweater hurried into the cafeteria.
"There's a problem. Three aircraft are headed this way -" "Is it Striker's team?" Sara stood, anxious and excited all at once. "Is this what we've been training for?"
"It could be Striker's team." The woman stated slowly. "But the forces are far too many for us. Several of our men are being treated for the attack on the Laboratory. Its not safe to remain here. We're going to relocate."
"But -" "Sara." The woman was firm. "Its not safe."
She turns to Lacey and Shade. "Do you have a quick way out of here or would you like to come with us?"
Storm, Havoc, Beast, Mystique, Logan
The radar on the Xwing pinged. The noise was more persistent a second time. Glancing at the radar display, the elder X - Men could see that the radar signified that three flying objects were coming in on their location.

Hearing Devon's uncalled-for remarks, I looked back over my shoulder to respond;
“I meant no offence. If you're truly interested in what I know of duty, go ahead and ask Magneto about it. I was dutiful and loyal to him for many years... Still would be, if he hadn't betrayed me the way he did. My eyes are open now, he won't fool me twice. I wonder if he'll lie to you about me – I used to be confident that he wouldn't, but now... Who knows” I shrugged my shoulders before my last two words, turning to head for the X-wing once more.
I got to the X-wing just as Rogue was leaving, nodding curt appreciation of Storm's polite gratitude as I heard her greet me. I smiled back at Rogue, relieved she was in uniform so the receptionist couldn't get curious about any sudden change of attire from when I'd morphed her. I gestured in the direction of Devon and Riley, who were not in line-of-sight from here, just to make sure she was heading the right way. As she set off I turned to address Storm, silently proud of my daughter's resolve.
“Facility seems benign. Some mutants are there voluntarily, despite how they came to be there in the first place. Perhaps we should consider...” I was cut off mid-sentence by the X-wing Radar's proximity warning. I listened to Beast's analysis of the blips on the Radar screen, then decided to add my 2 cents worth;
“Whether they're friend or foe, I think we should get airborne and cloaked so they don't catch us with our pants down; In the sky, this can be a formidable weapon if necessary. On the ground, we're merely a juicy target... Don't you think?” I asked Storm, hoping my input was welcome and that I hadn't spoken out of turn.

There's a look to Lacy. He wasn't going anywhere with these people. Whatever it was she'd done had somewhat calmed him a bit, but 'calm' did not mean he wasn't foolish enough to believe that once they had him--and her--away from this place, that they would let them go back to the mansion. No. He'd take his chances getting back to the X-Wing. "We have a way out. Perhaps another time." Not bloody likely, but he wasn't going to say that out loud. "We should go, Lacy."Just in case someone decided that Mystique's idea was a good one, and leaving them behind was in the cards. That just wouldn't be happening, and his entire world was colored just overhearing the way she talked to Devon. No one talked to Devon like that. No one.

Probably because your actions speak for themselves...” Her shoulders tensed. If they were alone, if no one else was around, if the X-Men weren't here, Devon would have taught her some manners. But with a deep sigh she resigned herself to the fact that Raven's words wasn't enough for Devon to justify taking a swing at her. Instead she followed Rogue when Beast motioned them to follow. “What do we do?” she asked Beast. [OOC: Is Beast back with the X-Wing? I thought he was outside.] Ororo Munroe “Storm”: The Weather Witch “You counter despair with hope. You strive forever for the best you are capable to be. Therein lies the victory.” Storm was thankful for Raven's intel but her suggestion had the new leader of the X-Men perplexed. The Professor would never leave another person behind. Not one of his students, especially. And not if he could help it. So she'd do the same. Storm pledged then she'd never leave a man behind. Instead of calling Raven out and having her deny that that's what she said, or how they had misinterpreted her words, Storm decided to ignore her completely. However, she made a mental note of it. It was yet another reason, Storm couldn't trust Raven. Not completely. Not when lives were at stake. “I'm going to provide cover. Beast bring in the others and recall Lacey and Justin. We're leaving.”[OOC: You want me to roll for Storm fogging the area?]

Riley looked to beast, surprised by the sudden change of plans. She was so ready to join Devon in going on a recon mission too. She looked to Devon and then to Beast.
"I could go in and get them, I've been in there before" she said, feeling like she should do something.

"Copy that Hank." Logan's gruff tones sounded back over the comm device. "Been scouting the perimeter, just in case anything or anyone got unfriendly."
When the others arrived back at the X-Jet, they'd find the Wolverine waiting for them.

You should try it sometime." "We're good. But thank you," Lacy echoed Shade's words. "Really appreciate you guys showing us around."And with that, she rested a hand on Shade's forearm before turning to head out, keeping a careful 'mind's eye' on those she was turning her back on for any indication that they weren't going to be very kind to them on their way out.

Magneto "The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places"- Ernest Hemmingway Magneto nodded to Storm, if there was a threat to them from above fog cover would conceal their retreat without inhibiting his own ability to sense incoming aircraft. For the moment he dismissed the building in front of him, much as he would like to bring the whole place crashing down around the ears of those who believed that they could 'cure' someone of their birthright as if it were a disease rather than a symbol of their supremacy. He suppressed the shiver as his mind drifted back to other doctors who had been claiming to serve the greater good while working on people that no one would care about. But for the moment at least he would accept Storm's decision that this was if not a friend then at least not a direct enemy. Besides if he brought the building down he could hurt many of his people who were inside, through whatever threats or promises. Besides the security on this place was abysmal. He alone could easily break the entire place when he no longer was bound by Storms dictates. "I will watch the Skies." He says flattly and without giving Storm the chance to argue he rose into the sky propelled by the invisible magnetic bands that he wrenched from the earth's normal field. He spread his senses out far and wide reaching for that most illusive of things metal in the sky.

As Magneto ascended, he immediately felt the presence of Others in the sky. From the composition of the metal, he strongly believed that three helicopters were approaching at fast speed. Yet a prick of his perception detected metal ground vehicles approaching by the only road. Light metal involved in the first four vehicles suggested Jeeps. They would be harder for him to manipulate. Yet the two cards bringing up the rear would not pose a problem to Magneto. Yet.. if each of these vehicles held 2 people, eighteen people of unknown origin were quickly approaching. The Xmen were outnumbered.
"No, I don't think thats a good idea. Why don't you go strap in?" Beast suggested to Riley.
Shade and Lacy turned and moved from the cafeteria with no ill will. The doctor was concerned if their transport was safe enough, but that was their own business. The children - three - were hustled out of the back door into the trucks. The female doctor and two black clad armed men enter with them. With haste, the truck pulled away and drove with great speed. Two more trucks pulled out of the facility and followed after.
