“Little?” Felix retorts. He’s taken aback, however, as Bogart approaches him. He’s even more taken aback when the boy throws down his weapon and opts to punch Felix in the shoulder. Felix cringes and pulls back from Bogart. He stares at him for a fraction of a second, and meets his cruel smile with one of his own.
When Sassinak’s arrow meets its mark, Felix jumps into action. He tries to use the surprise from the shot to hit Bogart.
Felix Grayling rolled 4 dice to "Axing Bogart [7-3]" 3,7,7,6 (0successes)

Ember Clay: District Twelve Female Tribute, “The Girl Who Loved to Play with Fire”
The gong sounds and Ember leaps gracefully from her platform. Brass was near her, otherwise she'd help Felix, Sassinak, and Coral by "helping" Bogart find the pointy end of her knife. But she couldn't risk it. Not with her the careers so near her.
She ran for the pile of gear at the mouth of the Cornucopia and picked up a knife. For the first time in a week, Ember felt complete, whole.
“Well...” Ember said, her lips curling up in that signature smirk of hers. “...here we are.”
[Ember's gonna be dodging until my next post. Her def is 8 right now.]

Lite, one point of interest: all weapons from the Blood Bath have a +1 weapon modifier. You can add one to your attack roll
Bogart repeated 'Little. As in smallish, little fella. That axe looks a bit too big for you to handle."
The biting words are followed by a biting gut punch to Felix's stomach. Bogart tilted his head as he sized up Felix. Six feet away, Coral let her chakram fly. With Felix doubled over, she hoped that she had less of a chance of hitting him. It was a strong hope. The blade made a nice slice to Bogart's left shoulder, making him swear under his breath.
The real trouble arrived with a black fletched arrow that implanted itself in Bogart's right knee. He made an angry cry as he doubled down, grasping the arrow with one hand. Glory noted the big boy's cry and made a sweeping glance over the assembled. She swooped in on Sassinak, shoving the girl roughly forward. Sassinak stumbled and lost her balance, her bow held loosely in her dominant hand. Glory snatched something from the ground and a knife glittered in her hand.
Bogart rolled 7 dice to "Bogart rolled 7 dice to "Brawling with Felix [10 - 3]" 7,5,6,1,5,3,10,10,9 (3 successes)
Coral rolled 6 dice to "Chakram attack on Bogart" 1,9,2,8,3,5 (2 successes)
Sassinak rolled 11 dice to "Shooting Bogart [13 - 2]" 9,8,6,2,8,9,6,6,7,1,3 (4 successes)
Glory rolled 7 dice to "Attacking Sassinak" 4,1,3,7,9,6,7 (1 successes)

Bogart’s next blow causes Felix to double over in pain. He groans and cringes, his free hand automatically pressing against the spot of impact. “Screw you.” He grunts in response to Bogart’s comment. Just as Felix is about to get up, the chakram whizzes over his head and into Bogart’s shoulder. With a smile, he stands up straight, still holding his gut, as the arrow collides with the back of the big boy’s knee. “You need to quit playing around. They ain’t gonna like it if we kill you.” Felix says as the pain begins to subside, looking in the direction of Glory. When he notices her charging forward, Felix turns back to Coral, “Leave him.” He says indicating to the injured Bogart, before his full attention turns to Sassinak as Glory shoves her. Felix charges past Bogart and towards Sassinak. As he nears, Felix tightens his grip on his axe, maneuvers his way past Sassinak and ends up in front of Coral. He swings his axe in her direction before snarling at the Career. “Don’t touch her!” His eyes are wild and feral and even though he had made a bad swing with the axe, he didn’t lose his courage. Felix Grayling rolled 5 dice to "Axing Coral [8-3]" 6,2,4,2,7(0successes)

This thread is to practice elements of the Hunger Games. Try a new character build, practice your strategy at the Cornucopia and master your die rolls. Any one can come practice; just post a sheet to the ooc. Accepted characters from #27 can come play too - but remember; this is all going to be a dream that your character wakes up from. No real experience points gained Defense of tributes in play so far Riven 2 Zale 3 Diedre 3 Timour 3 Helen 3 Isaac 3 Iris 3 Ashlyn 3 Shepard 2 Star 2 The morning of the arenaYour designer presents you with your arena uniform - a tan silk undershirt, a white T shirt, black athletic pants and leather sandals. As you rise up from your platform, you see sand all around you. You have risen up into an island arena. Several yards away, you see blue ocean. You are standing on a sandy beach. The Cornucopia rises up several yards away, the mouth brimming with helpful gear. Diedre leaps from her platform and turns in place, scanning the arena. She stoops and comes up with a silver colored bow and a quiver of ten arrows. The girl breaks into a sprint towards the cornucopia, her blonde ponytail whipping behind her.

Riven Tanzanite: District One's Volunteer of the 27th Hunger Games Riven's step from the platform is graceful, as is her run towards the sleek katana [+1] lying on the ground. She spots someone gunning towards the Cornucopia as she starts forward. The flash of blonde hair causes a smirk to cross Riven's face. Deidre has jumped into action. Riven slings the katana across her back and makes her way briskly towards the other Career. "Happy Hunger Games, Deidre." She greets, scanning the area, "Let's make this Bloodbath a real one." Riven unsheathes her sword and twirls it around happily. Yes. This was what she had been waiting for.

"True that, Riven!" Diedre replied with enthusiasm. She slowed her run towards the horn only a hitch, pointing to the horn. "I'm going to get a good vantage point. I'll send my buddy out to help you!"True to her word, Diedre's district mate Timour came to Riven's side. He was 5'9'' and stocky, muscles rippling as he stretched. A new waterskin jiggled on his belt. He didn't have a weapon in his hand. "District six," He nodded over to where Liv Tully stood. "- ooh. District eleven." Helen and Isaac had found one another and stood side by side, combing the sand on the outskirts of cornucopia for gear. Helen was whip thin and held a bow and arrow in her hand. Isaac held a spear in his hand and bent over, scooping up an empty water bottle. He shook it and studied the coil of para-cord within it. "Yaaaah!" A stocky female from district 12, Ashlyn, screamed. Ashlyn threw herself at district seven's female, Iris. Blood gushed from Iris' nose as the girl's fist connected solidly. Ashlyn whooped as Iris stumbled away, running for safety. Ashlyn rolled 8 dice to "Brawling" 8,10,2,9,8,6,4,3,8 (5 successes) An arrow flew forward. Isaac shouted and shoved Helen back, causing her to stumble and fall. Diedre's arrow grazed Isaac's finger. He shouted and pointed at her with his spear. Diere had climbed to the top of the horn. The career calmly drew another arrow.

Zale Sewell; The Warrior from District 4: The Fortuneteller's Son “There's no shame in fear, my father told me, what matters is how we face it.” "What is dead may never die." Islands. "Water water, everywhere. But not a drop to drink..." Zale said, even as he stood on the platform, watching the countdown. Islands meant water, and water meant this Arena gave him an advantage. One he planned to use. Blue eyes flickered to where Riva was. Oh look...time to go. Zale jumped down, running along the beach with little effort and through the sand as though he were more practiced. He'd kill for barefeet, but at the moment he didn't have that luxury. He'd take care of that later, instead snagging up a spear [+1] and flipping it around expertly and searching for a target.

Riven Tanzanite: District One's Volunteer of the 27th Hunger Games Of course someone would target Seven. Riven wasn't Brass Power, though. She surveyed the arena, her katana dancing skillfully in her right hand. "Let's see how we fare against eleven." She smiled, "The boy last-" Diedre's arrow silenced Riven and she watched, impressed, as it flew at the elevens. The blasted boy, however, managed to save his friend from an arrow in her skin. She turned to see Zale with a spear in hand, looking around the Arena. She grinned wickedly. Riven hoped this would prove to be very interesting; a spear fighter, a swords-woman, Timour looked to be a brawler, and Diedre was an archer. Laz's shurikens would prove to be ever more interesting, and Riva's nets would be extremely useful. With a glance Diedre's way, Riven shrugged. "Let's go." Without another word, Riven was off. She moved like a lioness, sleek and deadly, her eyes trained on her target. Isaac. The boy was protective of the girl. She couldn't touch the girl even if she wanted to. Riven spun the katana above her head, and brought it down in a very loud attack and a "Huh." from her throat. Isaac jabbed forward, his point scoring a wound on Riven's left thigh. The boy spun his spear, using the shaft to deflect an incoming attack. Was Riven faster than he was? Isaac rolled 5 dice to "Block and Strike ( take -2 to attack to receive +2 to Defense" (9-again) 10,9,1,2,8,3,1 (3 successes) Isaac's defense is 5 Helen ducked back, putting distance between herself and Riven. She brought up her bow and fired at the girl attacking her district mate. The arrow lodged itself in Riven's left shoulder. It was deeply lodged and hurt immensely. Helen rolled 10 dice to "Shooting Riven" 5,9,10,10,9,9,3,9,6,7,2,8 (7 successes) Diedre chuckled to herself as she leveled her bow at Helen. "Bad move." She said to the empty horn roof, loosing an arrow at the girl. An arrow lodged into Helen's left leg. Diedre frowned and lowered herself into a kneeling position, preparing to aim. Diedre rolled 10 dice to "Archery " 10,5,6,5,5,2,8,2,7,7,1 (2 successes) Timour was a half step behind Riven. At seeing Helen's attack, he decided who the biggest threat was. He moved his stocky body forward, lumbering into her. Helen shrieked as his arms locked under her arm pits. Planting his feet and popping his hips, the brawler threw Helen closer to the horn. She landed three feet away from Timour, sprawled on the ground. Timour rolled 5 dice to "Shihonage (“Four Directions Throw;” ••• [Helen]" 10,3,2,9,8,1 (3 successes)

Riven Tanzanite: District One's Volunteer of the 27th Hunger Games The boy with the spear was proving to be a pest, but as the arrow bit into Riven's shoulder she swore loudly and glared at the archer girl. "You asked for it eleven." Riven felt the pain wrack her body, and she swung her katana around again. Isaac's spear's deflective capabilities were annoying. Riven's eyes moved over to Helen and she bit down hard, her jaw tense. The pain was not ignorable. Not at all. But she was trying to work around it, cursing as she started to move forward, Diedre's arrow planting itself in the girl's body. But it was Timour's attack that made Riven smile a cruel grin. "Don't try to move." Riven said cruelly as she plunged her sword into Helen's body, jumping back and leaving it embedded in the girl, "In fact. Don't do anything at all." She grinned, and then looked at Diedre, pointing at Isaac. Helen wasn't going to be a problem anymore, she figured. Riven began to back away; she needed to sort this arrow out. Fast. [27] Riven Tanzanite rolled 15 dice to "attacking Helen + will" 5,3,4,1,6,5,10,2,8,7,4,10,10,6,9,9,5,1 (6 successes) •••• Brutal Sacrifice In exchange for a point of willpower, make an attack that leaves a weapon embedded in the victim's body, inflicting a penalty to all actions, and causing further damage upon removal.

The Bloodbath was chaos. It always was. It was why he'd been taught how to stop himself. To look around. To see where the danger was when all others saw was... ...Well...The Tower. He'd much rather be The Star than The Tower. Isaac with the spear. The boy seemed nearly as good with one as he was, and Zale decided that was who he was after. Let his alliance deal with their wounds. Zale would attack the District 11 Tribute. Unlike the others, there is no battle call. No hazing. No cruel words. In his eyes, there is determination and intensity. And more than a little respect, even as he attacks the other boy and then flips his own spear to mirror Isaac's. Defense for defense. A career was injured. It was like blood in the water among a group of sharks. Riven felt the eyes of Star, Shepard, Ashlyn and Iris upon her as she moved for the horn. Four tributes suddenly seemed to find common ground as Star, Shepard, Ashlyn and Iris streaked towards Riven. "Ha!" Timour's booming laugh sounded. "Come to me, little ones!" He blocks the tributes path to Riven, throwing up his muscular arms and clapping them together. He flexed and his muscles alone were enough to cause Iris to peel off from the hunt. She opened a medical kit in her hand and hastily applied gauze to make her bleeding nose less troublesome. She turned from the fight, scanning the ground. Stocky Ashlyn was the first to reach Timour. She slaps him across the face. The girl is quick enough to attack again, kicking at his knee cap. Shepard throws a punch at the stocky Timour, making the boy stagger back. Timour responds with a low smack to Shepard's chest, off setting the boy's balance. Riven Tanzanite: District One's Volunteer of the 27th Hunger Games With the little tributes advancing on her, and only Timour to keep them at bay, Riven decided that she wouldn't risk his life just for her to get back. They needed all of the Careers for as long as they could, and losing one at the Bloodbath wouldn't look good. Not at all. Having picked up two packages of Celox - since it had proven so useful in the previous Games - and a pair of knuckle busters [+1] already, Riven continued her collecting as she grabbed a full 16oz water skin from the ground and attached it to her belt. Deciding that this arrow couldn't be there any longer, Riven grabbed the collar of her outfit's jacket and bit down, hard, as she took a hold of the arrow. It hurt like crazy and she bit down even harder so as not to scream. With an almighty pull, Riven jolted as the arrow slid out of her shoulder. Before she could even react, Riven tore open a package of Celox and emptied it onto the wound. As she slowly unclenched her jaw, she fought the impulse to throw herself to the ground and scream in pain. The arrow had genuinely been a nasty blow, and she would have to tend to it later. But for now, it would have to do. She snapped the arrow in half, tossing it to the ground and turned on Shephard. "Get back while you still have the chance." She growled at the gathered lesser tributes as she sent a heavy blow, lined with her knuckle busters, Shephard's way. [27] Riven Tanzanite rolled 8 dice to "brawl with Shephard (10 - 2)" 5,2,1,9,6,8,10,7,10,9 (5 successes)

10...9...8...7...
Kris' eyes flung wide open. What happened? How was he here already?!
6...5...4...
This wasn't, right, he wasn't ready for this! He looked around at the other Tributes on their own platforms, but all he saw were unfriendly faces.
3...2...
His eyes fell on Riven, and the world around him went dark. 'Anne fell in the bloodbath to her' a voice inside his head told him. The spirit of battle electrified the air around him.
1...
One deep breath, that was all there was time for now. He turned back to the field, taking in as much as he could. The sound of waves crashing around them, the spread of gear strewn about the arena, the gleam of the cornucopia in the center...
With a blast from the gong, Kris leaped from his platform and made straight for the first useful item he could find, a canister of mace. He knew that a close quarters fight was out of the question, and he knew he would have to get out fast, but something deep inside him was shouting at him to stay and fight, to get revenge. As he scooped up the mace, and continued moving toward the first bag he could see, he scanned the field for the Career that part of him wanted so desperately to avoid, while the other part wanted to see fall here and now. Where had she gone?

It is a sword that heals." The countdown hit zero and Riven hopped gracefully off the pedestal. She took her time, as she ran at a steady pace, to see where the other tributes were heading. She assumed that Diadem, Laz, Diedre and Timour would meet her at the horn, and Riven’s eyes fell on a shiny katana [+1] which she reached down and retrieved it gracefully as she moved across the field towards the Cornucopia. When she reached her destination, Riven spun around and held onto her katana tightly, spinning it in her hand ever so slightly. “Bide your time, Riven. You have plenty.” She muttered to herself, keeping her wits about her. Riven is dodging. Her defense to incoming attacks is 7.

Starting Locations: Please remember to check your characters speed. If someone is all the way across the horn from your character, it will likely take two turns to reach them. We are also using Foot chase rules here - if someone is posting that they are running or fleeing, you can not automatically catch them and attack. I will tell all participants in a foot chase what to do and what the outcome is. Test out your tribute gear - remember to post picking up one thing per turn. Have fun! Hello, Zan...

Crystal Stone leaped off of her podium. She spun in a 180, searching for her partner. She wasn't surrounded by people that she loved. The brunette made a motion to the D2 male standing beside her.
"We could take the horn!" She proposed. Most Games, this was a given. She left him to decide and took off at a run, cutting straight to the cornucopia. This was the plan...

2...1... GONG! Ewan, a boy from six makes a mad dash for the center of the horn. He easily outruns everyone, even leaving his district partner. He grabs a pack and looks for an escape. (D6) Ewan Vander rolled 10 dice to "Footchase" 10,4,7,5,3,2,10,2,6,5,7,8 (3 successes) (D6) Ewan Vander rolled 7 dice to "Footchase Rote" 8,10,7,5,4,4,1,2 (2 successes) Parkour (4) Aspen (from D7) and Verity (from D2) are close behind him. Verity is fast, but Aspen is faster, grabbing an axe before Verity got her hands on a knife. )D7) Aspen Hazelwood rolled 9 dice to "Footchase + Will" 6,7,10,1,7,10,8,7,1,7,9 (4 successes) Verity Nero rolled 8 dice to "Footchase + Will" 10,2,9,6,9,7,5,1,9 (4 successes)
Each girl got 4 suxx. But Aspen's speed is 11 and Verity's speed is a 9. So Aspen gets to the gear pile before Verity. Glenna (D11) and Connie (D6) are just behind them. Glenna moves swiftly through the bloodbath and picks up the bow that Connie had wanted. Connie panics and picks up a knife, backing away. (D11) Glenna Pomeroy rolled 9 dice to "Footchase" 4,9,5,1,4,10,2,6,1,2 (2 successes) (D6) Concordia “Connie” Blit rolled 5 dice to "Footchase" 9,2,2,10,3,5 (2 successes)
Again, the girls have tied so it goes to the tribute with the highest speed which is Glenna with 13. Both girls wanted the bow, but Glenna got there first. Trajan lumbers forward neck and neck with Jaeger and Crystal. But he's not as fast as them. getting there moments after they did. He picks up a knife but it's clear he wanted something larger. (D2) Trajan Valerius rolled 9 dice to "Footchase + Will" 4,1,3,4,2,9,6,4,1 (1 successes)
Trajan, Jaeger, and Crystal all rolled one suxx. It would come down to speed after that. Tray is a 9 for speed so he's last. Which leaves a tie between Crystal and Jaeger. In the even of a tie like that, first pick of the gear goes to the person with the highest dexterity. Which would be Jaeger. So if it was just a race between Crystal , Jaeger, and Tray: Jaeger would get there first, followed by Crystal.

Crystal hunts the loot for a medical pack. She had noticed how they became more rare - and necessary - the longer that the game went on. Seizing the closest thing that looked like a medical pack, she seized it to her chest and peeked within. Would it contain life saving gear? Something that could prevent disease from setting in?
Someone moves beside her and Crystal snaps her head up, baring her teeth in a snarl. Head up, she found Jaeger and hurried to stand at his back.

I'm not supposed to be here.
It was all that ticked in his head as the seconds counted down. Where was Morgan? What was he thinking? What was he feeling? Was the helplessness overwhelming him, or was he being his strong, unbending self?
Dylan prayed for the latter.
And he was off, running for a bag and looking for Kaliana at the same time. The bag he grabbed--he hoped--was survival gear. the more of it he had, the better, though he could survive on nothing. Survival gear, and then he'd go for a weapon.
Right now, he'd take the survival gear and his District Partner, thanks so much.

The Arena As you rise to the arena above, a feeling of warm descends over you. Glancing up, you see a friendly yellow sun and a sky full of fluffy, content clouds. The world is glistening with dew drops - they cling to the deciduous trees at the tree break to the north. The platforms are arranged in a circle around the golden horn, set on a flat ground that is covered by packed yellow sand. The horn has a pile of delicious looking goodies set inside the mouth of the cave - a set of swords is on display, a trident leans against sturdy plastic transport boxes. In the inner ring several green bags are scattered about, helpfully emblazoned with the word 'food'. A handful of empty water bottles lay scattered in this inner ring. You see five glistening full water bottles closer to Cornucopia, luring you in. You spot a few weapons scattered about this ring. The outer ring has only a single full water bottle and four empty ones. More troublesome, the weapons themselves are scarce. In the outer ring there are twelve perfectly constructed stands to hold the weapons in perfect display- one axe, one airgun (where did that come from?), one blowgun, one bow - the only duplicate are the knives, of which there are two. Use this list5...4...3...2... 1! Castor Akakios, age 17, surveyed the field with a calm certainty. His dark blue eyes sweep to the left of him, flicking to faces. He seemed to like what he saw - district three, district four and his allies, district two. "Move!" He barks with authority, striding forward towards the horn. Tall and athletic, Castor was the shining example of a career volunteer. He was trim yet strong, of this you have no doubt. How? Castor had, in his modestly - decided to wear a vest with a scalloped neck to show his defined chest muscles at the Reaping. Castor had eyes the color of blue sapphires and hair that was light blonde, nearly white. He was light skinned, nearly abnormally so. "Take the right flank - and stay together. " A young woman states calmly, directing Comet and Steel, the tributes of District Two. Rhapsody's yellow blonde hair is coiled into a diadem of braids around her head. Her cheeks are high, her eyes a perfect shade of sky blue. Yet there is something cold in her eyes and even in her promotional videos that coached youthful gaiety, cold and ruthless ambition stared out of those blue eyes. They were like reptile eyes. Cold and unfeeling. Rhapsody is a step behind Castor and a perfect mirror. While he strides forward with eyes ahead, she is walking more cautiously, her expression vigilant as she scans the killing ground to the left. Comet streaks to the right, a burst of speed straight off of her platform. The redhead overtakes Castor, her eyes sweeping the right. She keeps her arms swinging, her knees tucked up as she seems to jog in place besides Castor. Her energy was high and she was smiling, showing a perfect smile. Comet did look like a perfect Career - pretty, eager and skilled. Nothing has stuck out about her as different than any other girl from district Two... not yet. Steel stalks forward, a good five feet behind Comet and Castor. His head is swinging left and right, scanning the killing ground with intense focus. His fists are clenched, his jaw is set. Steel of District Two was of middling height standing at only 5'8''. His shoulders were wide and his torso tapered to a defined and fit midsection. Steel was not particularly handsome with steel gray eyes, a ruddy complexion and jet black hair. He tends to scowl and is fine form today. Davena Pond leaped off of the platform. Her auburn hair was pulled into twin braids along her scalp, wrapping into a long ponytail that swung with her sudden movement. At the age of fifteen, Davena was slim and petite at 5'5''. She had come across as shy and bashful in her interview, the long auburn hair hiding her plain face. She was not particularly pretty and had not made much of an impression on you. In fact, the most memorable aspect of her was her shade of reddish - brown hair. The girl darted forward into a sprinti to the outer ring of items. Davena's district mate, Silas, followed on her heels in the frenzied movement for gear. Silas was the youngest tribute with chestnut brown hair and light brown skin. His eyes were slightly almond shaped and upturned at the corners with long brown lashes. He was pleasantly attractive, nearly feminine with his angelic countenance. His jaw was nicely shaped and he promised to be a heart-breaker one day. Silas was tall for his age, standing at 5'5. In the promo vids, Silas had smiled frequently and seemed to always be saying something clever or witty to those gathered around him. Silas was intense and focused now, no sign of mirth on his young face. Several tributes are beginning to move... what do you do?
