Davena had moved as though she had been shot out of a cannon. You wonder if she seemed to have above - average speed or if it only seemed so because she was the first to move. Was that expected of a girl from district three? The short girl did not hesitate as she reached a weapons pedestal upon which the air pistol rested. She picked it up with familiarity and turned the barrel away from herself, studying the sight. She turned it in her hand to inspect the safety, ensuring that it was ready to fire. "Good." She states firmly to her district mate, Silas. The girl goes to one knee facing Silas, the pistol held in her right hand. She has crouched behind the weapon pedestal, affording her some cover at her back. Her gaze is focussed on her district mate, Silas.
Silas was not the quickest, however. Comet streaked forward like her namesake and plucked an armored vest that was set out on a gear box. She slipped into the armor with a practiced hand, adjusting it to fit her athlethic frame. Beside her, Rhapsody moved to a weapons stand. Her eyes moved between the knife stand and the sword stand, seeming to contemplate. She made her choice quickly, selecting the knife. She took a moment to turn it in the air, letting the sunlight glint off of it. The two girls stand hip to hip and scan left and right, appropriately wary of attack. Castor and Steel had moved slower and there were now two Career positions, the young men a good eight feet from the young women.
Silas acted now, choosing the full water bottle that has a small carrying case that slides over his shoulder easily, not impeding his movement. He gives a thumbs up sign to Davena, who makes a downward gesture with the palm of her right hand. Silas crouches on the ground beside a gray gear box about four feet high, keeping his head low. His pretty face is strained as his eyes dart in front of him, scanning for an attacker.
Castor does not appear to notice the youngest tribute as he and Steel walk forward together. Steel pauses beside Castor as Castor selects a sword, keeping watch as Castor affixes the sheath to be drawn by his right hand. Castor draws the sword and tests its weight. After a moment, he gives a nod of approval. "Cornucopia. We must take it and keep it. Wait for us." He raises his voice to carry to the quicker girls.

Having a sister here with him gave Hadley a distinct advantage. They'd agreed in the beginning to staying together, no matter what the cost. STay together. Watch out for each other, which was odd because Hadley had come to the Game to do just that, and had done just that his entire life already. It was always he and Billie. They were each other's best friend, favored confidant, and most ardent advocate. It was a distinct advantage in the Games. It was also a very distinct weakness. Not only did everyone already know that they would do anything ot protect each other, but they also knew where Hadley would be looking first. When his dias raised and he was able to see, he looked automatically for his sister. Once he found her? His eyes searched for.... ...Anything. Anything no one else would go for, and it found the Survival Gear. Let the others fight over weapons. Hadley would get his sister, and then find the shelter gear. Maybe something eh could fashion into a whip for his sister. 3...2...1... And he was off. One thing about he and his sister too? They had a great deal of experience running and dodging and trusting their bodies to do what was right. IT was why he things others saw as obstacles were merely vaults that he used to move that much faster, and as he got to his sister--having snagged a backpack for himself. "Survival gear, Billie. Knives. Tarp. Rope. Even a bottle or five. Don't need no weapon to win." 2014-12-09 00:40:09 [HG 35] Hadley North rolled 1 dice to "Initiative" 8 (1 successes) Hadley's Initiative is 14

Hadley was a fool for volunteering. But he was her fool. And come hell or high water, they'd have each other until the end. No matter what. It was something that they both stressed, though it was clear they didn't need to say the words. They just knew. Some called it North Loyalty. Other's called it North Stupidity. Whatever it was, it'd see them through or Peyton and CJ would be down two siblings.
Billie's met Hadley's gaze when his eyes found her. She nodded, her lips pressed into a tight line. Panem was watching. But Panem go frack itself as far as Billie was concerned. The Capital and the Districts. Everyone. Anyone. All that matter here and now was Hadley and staying alive long enough to raise some real hell.
3...2...1...
Billie yelled a few profane words as she jumped off her platform. She stayed do the outskirts stirring clear of everyone else. Or trying to until she met Hadley halfway.
"I reckon that's true, Had," Billie agreed with her brother when he spoke. "But they do help."

As the two siblings converse, Hadley notices a small chest sitting a few feet in front of the two tributes. Within is a coil of cord peeking out and the sheen of plastic - a tarp, surely. Something that can be used for shelter and fashioned into a few things. A few feet around the circle were some small objects in the same green color that suggested survival... a packet of matches in a water proof tin rested on a plastic supplies box. Hadley becomes aware that the other tributes seem caught up in examining the gains that they had picked up moments before. The survival items seemed to have escaped notice of the other tributes near Hadley and Billie. Thankfully, no one seemed to be focused on their location for the moment. No one was paying them any mind.
There was a a grouping of what looked like survival supplies close enough to them and far enough from others that Hadley had the feeling they could get to them before anyone else could. Go through the things and stuff them into their packs.
"Over here." There was a crate and wire and other things, and Hadley grabbed the matches and shoved them into his bag. Grabbed the supplies box and put that in too. "Get the tarp and the wire. See if you can find a length of rope too."
And tools.
He needed tools....

Davena moves quietly and quickly, snatching something from the survival gear. Its small enough to be concealed in one hand, her dominant hand holding her air pistol. Davena scans the area near her for a beat, her eyes moving over Hadley. Her eyes are robin blue. Her eyes were often concealed in interviews behind that auburn hair as she had demurred questions. The district three girl seems just as shy now when she looks past Hadley to keep an eye on Silas. The fifteen year old girl tucked the green tin into the black backpack on her back. The redhead crouches, staring at her district mate. The girl is passed by as two of the careers stride by her en route to the horn.
Rhapsody and Comet look at Hadley for a long beat, pausing. Comet's leather vest gleams in the warm light of the sun overhead, highlighting the red of her hair. The cool eyes of Rhapsody regard Hadley for only a moment before she turns forward once again, looking towards the horn. Her hand dips almost casually as she steps into the inner ring of the Horn where the better gear awaits. Rhapsody comes up with a helm that sparkles in the light, pulling it over her head. Comet takes up a gleaming silver bow that she draws an arrow with easily, turning to draw the tip of the arrow over the small forms of Silas. She moves on, resting a moment on the back of the District Four female Ela. Comet holds the string taunt as she scans for attack.

Billie nodded but watched Rhapsody and Comet before they took off. "After that we're out of here, brother."
They were looking at them like food. Just lambs to be led to the slaughter. Well frak that. Norths don't die like sheep. Taking out a North should be like taking down a bull. You might kill it. But not before he runs you through with his horns.
She picks the first item a trap and puts in her bag.
