I noticed a girl with a slight hunch making her resemble small with brown eyes and straw blonde hair walk up to our station. I remembered watching her reaping tape. Kale from district 2. I marched up to her and greeted her. "My names Klo... Im from district 1." I smiled stretching out my hand for a handshake.

Kate studied the offered hands for a split second, somewhat surprised by the lack of outward hostility. Her mother had warned her the "lesser" districts would be horrible. Of course, to her mother any District that wasn't their own was lesser.
Sure, it was just a greeting; but so far it was politer than her own sister had been taught to be.
She smiled politely, and shook the offered hand, each in turn.
"Kale."

Rory, Jace, Femra Klo, Abigail & Micha
"We're learning about poisonous plants." The thin girl with dark hair replied to Klo. She eyed Klo and Kale with some curiousity as Klo moves away from the station to meet Kale.
"We're about ready to learn about medicinal plants now. You can stay after to learn what they already have," The trainer explains. "I've already shown you aloe." She referred to the plant that was showing its goey center. "This is good to use for burns. This is a green, spiky plant that can flourish in nearly any area. "
She reaches out into a bin and pulls out white bulbs with papery skins. "Garlic is a good antibiotic and easily can be grown year round in mild climates. Look for it in mild areas without weather extremes. You can dice it and add it to your food; or boil a poultice to place upon an injury. "
Tank: Tree course
"Yes, thats exactly how to do it. You'll have to place them up the trunk to climb up, but it should be easy for you as long as you have a few minutes. Would you like to learn how to use a flipline to climb a tree now?"
He gestures to the next tree that shows a rope resistant to fraying and a saddle made into circles. "It could help you rise up a tree much faster than simply climbing it."
Thrall: Archery Station
"Hello," The trainer walks near Thrall. A young blonde girl with glistening golden locks is aready lining up for her first shot.
"Have you ever fired a bow before?" He inquires, no insult in his tone. He's seen many naturals who have never seen a bow before the Reaping.
Jasmine: Knot tying
"You'll have time enough to learn both." The trainer assures Jasmine. "This is a fine snare to place next to a game trail. Look for a depression in the grass or small tracks in the dirt."
He crouches on the ground, indicating a small indentation in the grass. "This is a good example. Here, come and kneel beside it."
The trainer brought his own knot over and laid it onto the game trail. He used the lead rope to adjust the length of the snare. "Something that steps in here can snare something that passes over it. This," He gestures to the rope. "- will snare the animal. You can some along later and use it to loosen the animal."

I nodded towards the trainer, "I'd like that." I studied the plant with the gooey center and then looked back at the trainer pulling out the garlic. I listened intently as she explained its purpose and where to find it. I whispered to kale without looking away from the trainer "I know I don't know you well but everyone needs a second pair of eyes in the arena. Want to team up...?" I waited for her response.

Jace Colton
"Mama used to put it on my brothers and me when we'd be out in the sun too long. Usually all day during harvest. Even someone as dark as me already gets burned, and a sunburn hurts somethin' awful."
He'd gotten one so bad one time that he hadn't been able to work the next day, because it hurt too much to move. Losing a full days work out of even one of them was...it was bad. After that he'd never gone out during harvest--or during the high summer heat--without a wide-brimmed hat.
He hadn't known about the garlic though, and he kept that in mind. Edible and medicinal plants were as important as each other, apparently, and he'd keep in mind to start looking for those things when he was on his way with the others. Or when he was alone--because a lot of people tended to die in the Cornicopia.

As the instructor teaches Lallek additional stealth techniques, he tries to soak in as much as he can. At first he faces failure, but after diligent work he begins making progress. The work draws his mind away from thoughts of training and the arena and he loses himself in the various paints and branches and limbs. His mind was drawn to being a phantom. There would not be a greater asset than being undetectable and so he spends more time at the station that what he would have expected. Hours, learning how to stealth himself from the eyes of the others. Despite setbacks Lallek picks up a few tricks.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine picked up her imitation knot and followed the trainer out into the mock game trail portion of the station. She could see how the knot might be used to entrap something but, setting it up to do it automatically while she was out... doing.. stuff... She had to admit that hunting hadn't been one of her pasttimes, or even a distant dream. Swinging through trees and balancing atop branches at the tiptop of the world was where her mind frequently went.
But yet, she paid close attention to what the trainer was doing and showing her. She'd best visit a station to identify tracks if she wanted to use the snare to any sort of effectiveness. She tucked that thought away for later use and laid out her knot similar to the way the trainer had done his. "So... do you tie the loose end to a li'l sapling or somethin'? What makes the knot cinch on things when they're unfortunate enough to put a limb through?"

ThrallThrall seemed to ignore the trainer for a moment, turning the bow over in his hands. Then he picked up a six arrow quiver, and rolled his sleeve back, exposing the vicious scars on his inner wrist from the bowstring. He slung the quiver over his back. There were no needless dramatics when it came to breathing, either. Some people wasted time that way. The pale young man nocked the first arrow and let it fly at the target. It thudded in centre mass. Before it had even hit, however, he had the second arrow nocked, and on its way. Then the third and the fourth. They struck in a neat square pattern near the centre. The fifth struck the bullseye, and the final shot, the sixth, struck the back of the fifth arrow, shearing part of it away and quivering in the centre. "You could say that," he said finally, to the trainer. "Was that good enough, do you think?" Using FS: Archery 1 & 2

Rory, Jace, Femra, Klo, Abigail & Micha~ Medicinal & Edible plants
"Now lets cover our final medicinal plant." The instructor stated, pulling out an unassuming plant. "This is annual ragweed." She indicated the green plant that had a few flower buds. "This plant prefers dry, sunny grassy plains, sandy soils or river banks. Pluck a good handful of it, stew in water and prepare a poultice with it to prevent blood poisoning. If you sustain a wound and see any of it, its always a good idea to gather some ragweed for a poultice. Blood poisoning could prove fatal in the arena."
Lallek ~ Stealth Station
"Remember to steady your breathing." The instructor reminds Lallek and the other small girl at the station. "You can hold your breath if someone nears; and remember not to inhale again too sharply. Contort your body to meld with the surroundings."
Lallek and the girl were led to a pile of rocks with weeds growing up among them. The trainer took some time explaining how to remove some of the rocks and lay upon them, placing the rocks on one's body to break up profile. The rocks were terribly uncomfortable, but the trainer insisted on learning how to focus past the discomfort. After what seemed like forever, the instructors took a few minutes to teach how to place the weeds on clothing to better blend in.
"Do you have any questions?"
Jasmine: Knot tying station "You could." The instructor took a minute to point out some of the natural terrain that Jasmine would encounter, such as strong weeds and plants. "Or something like this. The knot works as a snare," He points to the center knot, trailing his hand up the trailing rope. "- with this providing tension. Now, removing the animal without damaging the rope is important. You won't have endless supplies. This is how you can unravel and pull out the animal."
The instructor placed a rubber rabbit into the snare, demonstrating how the snare tightened across the toys belly. He untied the trailing rope, loosening the snare - and quickly grasped the rabbit. He explained that snapping its neck now would be good, as you would then be free to extract the rabbit and set up the snare again, if you wished.
"Do you want to learn another snare for catching animals or a trap?"
Thrall: Archery Station "Very good." The trainer replied, clearly impressed. "Lets practice that with some moving targets."
He depressed the lever, causing targets to pop up at random intervals for a short period of time. "Learn how to sight the bow for different distances." The trainer indicated the different colored sights on the bow. "Different positioning is good for hitting targets farther away. Do you have any questions?"

" This completes my presentation." The trainer says to Klo. "Yet thats because the others arrived earlier than you. You can stay with me and review what I have already shown the others so that you learn just as much as they did." The trainer replied to Klo. "Yet those who arrived earlier have completed this station. Does any one have any questions?"

Rory Noland: District 7 Female Tribute
Rory smiles, nodding her thanks to the trainer. And when she speaks everyone can hear the sincerity in her voice. "Thank you."
She nods to Klo, respectively. But there's something in her gaze that's not friendly.
Rory shakes her head, clearing away whatever she was thinking before heading to the Fire Making Station.

"Learning good." Tank smiled, looking at the flip-line curiously. Dropping the remaining equipment in his hands, he walked over to the next tree indicated by the instructor and grabbed hold of the fray-resistant rope. Giving it a tug, he seemed satisfied it was secure enough.
He turned back to the trainer, waiting for further instructions on what to do next.

Jace Colton That station was done. Now it was time to figure out where else to go. Stealth, maybe, would serve him well, but being able to defend himself--and being able to maybe figure out how to do so effectively would be better. There's a half-smile to the others who were in his little group before he went toward the Melee weapons. Looking over the arrangement of things there. The arrangement.... ...There was something familiar about one of the things though, and as his hand wrapped around the handle, it just felt right and for a moment he was back home in the fields. During harvest. A hand-scythe.

Medicinal & Edible plants ~ Klo
Micha and Abigail moved off together, moving towards the Archery station. "You're welcome." The woman replies to Rory, giving her a genuine smile. As the only person left at the plant station; Klo received the trainer's full attention.
"Do you want to start with medicinal or medicinal plants?" The trainer asked Klo.
Tree Course: Tank
"Go ahead and walk up the tree," The trainer begins. "-hold the line behind your back and pick up the slack as you go. Keep the line taut."
As Tank begins; the trainer circles him and offers further advice. Tank finds that this takes the pressure off of using his upper strength to climb trees; allowing him to climb more quickly.
Femra is free to choose her next station. As she glances around, she sees Micha and Abigail at the Archery station. Odin and Emerald were at the sword training station.
Hand Scythe ~ Jace
"Hello," A trim, dusky skinned woman greets Jace. "I see you've found the hand scythe."
She evaluates Jace in silence for a moment; taking in his appearance. Her eyes drop to his hand on the scythe.
"You're no stranger to that, are you?" She inquires. "You're holding it just right. Would you like to address accuracy or is something on your mind?"

"I use one of these a lot. During harvest." He smiled, looking at the tool in his hand. "Use it to thresh grain. And other things. I can use a machete pretty well too, but I'm smaller, so this is more comfortable.
"Never really thought of it as a weapon. Not until now, though Pa would tell me to be careful I wasn't too close to anyone when I was threshin'. Guess now I know why." There's a half shrug, and he keeps smiling.
"Accuracy, sure. Maybe some other stuff too? I'd like to maybe learn how to be more effective with it. Like I said: Never thought of it as a weapon before."

Lallek followed the instructions provided. Torquing and contorting his body was difficult but manageable. When the instructor finally asked for questions, he simply shook his head and bowed. He could disappear back home, but now he was building on that knowledge. It was a good feeling.
With a sense of accomplishment, Lallek decided it was time to show off. He had looked weak at the melee station, so now he makes his way to the knife throwing station. Without addressing the instructor he picked up three knives. Two were in his left hand on standby, the third was in his right ready to throw.
"Sharp and focused." The fishermen said. "It's not how hard you throw. It's about accuracy." Lallek inhaled. His arm moved into throwing position. "Accuracy means knowing your body and knowing your target. Precision is key." The first knife flew at the target.
Lallek rolled 11 dice to "Dex+Athletics" 1,9,9,2,4,7,7,5,1,6,4 (2 successes)
He rolled into the next throw using the force of the first throw to carry him into his second.
Lallek rolled 11 dice to "Dex+Athletics" 6,1,9,6,9,4,5,2,2,8,10,5 (4 successes)
And finally the third knife flew towards the target.
Lallek rolled 11 dice to "Dex+Athletics" 5,4,1,10,7,6,4,3,10,5,4,10,10,10,8,3 (6 successes)
Once all three knives are free, Lallek gazes down at the target to assess the damage. He felt good about this station. This was what he was best at. This would be what would save Pearl.

Jasmine Coverfield, District 11 Female
Jasmine studied the knot on the ground again. She felt like the lesson was rushing forward a touch quick for her, but... well, maybe she needed to see something else in action for it to click. She carefully untangled the toy rabbit. She knew that ringing its neck, a real rabbit that is, would be quick and easy way to end its life for completing the little bit of hunt. She looked up at the trainer.
"Yeah, let's see the trap. I mean, this is still confusin' me and stuff, but, maybe seein' it work will make more sense." She stood up waiting for the next bit of the lesson.

Hand Scythe Station: Jace"That was sound advice." The woman replied. "The shape of the weapon itself provides some versatility." She steps up beside Jace, indicating the weapon with her fingers. "The cutting edge is best used on tender parts of the body. It lacks the length of a sword and the momentum of a spear. Neck, joints, mid section..." She ran a finger over her own body at the mention of each section of the body. " - would do well. Yet what people don't realize is the strength of a blow that you can put behind the weapon - and that you can use this side -" She indicates the curve of the blade. " - to inflict pain. A crack to a cheek, a blow to the head or a sneak attack on a knee - all are effective and unexpected."She guides Jace to a stand of three mannequins that stand between 5 and 6 feet tall. "Take a few moments to stretch." She advises. "Then we will begin practicing effective attacks - and you will learn how much pressure and how much momentum you want to be using." Stealth Station: Lallek Before Lallek departed the station; he was given advice on how to practice slow breathing and defying expectations to remain undetected. Knife throwing station: Lallek "Have you done this before?" The trainer asked Lallek; stepping up beside him. "You're doing well on stationary targets. Lets attempt moving targets and you can ask me any questions that arise from that practice." In the section in front of Lallek; the long range targets began to move. The movements were staggered and unpredicatable; one target for three seconds and another for five seconds. The next targets came up three at a time... challenging and making one work for each target. Please make the same roll with - 2 Knot tying station: Jasmine "The trap is a simple idea." He states. "A long loop laid upon the ground at some unsuspecting location. Concealing it is something you can do after the trap is set up." He indicates for Jasmine to walk near him and throws a length of rope over the tree branch. He stoops near where Jasmine stood and began to work a series of knots slowly and methodically. He proceeds slowly; with pauses at each point for questions. Klo: Edible & Medicinal Plants"Edible." She repeats; gesturing for you to follow after her. She leads you over to a wooden planter about sixteen inches deep. The surface was muddy, a small pool of water was in the corner of the planter. The ground had recently been disturbed and looked as though it had been patted back down in place. "This is a simulated aspect of what you may find near a lake. There are some plants that have been planted here - some are edible, some aren't. I'll let you find them and decide if they are edible."She states to Klo. You realize this is how you may have to work; digging with your hands in muddy ground. "Go ahead and start digging." Thrall: Archery station "Good." The trainer nodded. "Now, to work on speed we will set up two targets at five second intervals. Remember that each target could be a potential killer after you. A miss will alert them to your presence. Its better to be accurate." The trainer moved to a button further down the operator panel. The range immediately changed - and not for the better. Firemaking Station ~ Rory & Femra
"Hello," The slim brunnette woman greeted Rory and Femra as they approached the Firemaking station. "- welcome to fire making station. Please survey this site that represents a wooded area. Which block would you be able to harvest wood for a suitable fire?"
The trainer gestures to a square area about twenty feet by twenty feet. Three square signs with '1', '2' and '3' are positioned in front of three different situations. The first sign is in front of a fallen tree. The trunk has split open, revealing dry, flaky bark and deep brown wood beneath. The '2' stands in front of a young sapling; the tree hardly more than three feet tall. Green shoots and new leaves stretch upwards from its thin, small branches.
The '3' is positioned next to a tall oak tree with strong branches and smooth bark. The leaves appear well nourished and green.
